Starting Verzenio concerned about hair and nail regrowth
I will be starting Verzenio this month s/p chemo, bilateral mastectomy and left axillary lymph node dissection, and radiation for treatment of stage III ER/PR +, HER2 - breast cancer. I also started Anastrozole and am tolerating that well. My hair is just starting to grow back after finishing chemo last November 2024. It's about the length of a pixie cut now. I also have a few toenails that became brittle and they died after Taxol, and they are about 1/2 grown out now. I am concerned that the Verzenio will halt the regrowth of both my hair and nails. I am just wondering what others' experience was with this. I know this should be least of my worries and that I should focus on preventing the cancer from coming back. But I just was starting to feel better and somewhat "normal" again.

MSM supplement is amazing for nails, and good for liver health as well… Hair might need minoxidil?

I have been taking Verzenio for almost a year now after finishing chemo, mastectomy and rads. I have had some hair thinning on the top of my head- but it’s only honestly only noticeable to me. After about 6-7 months on Verzenio, the thinning has improved. Some people do not have any thinning/hair loss. (Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones!)
After chemo, I really babied my hair. I only wash a couple times a week. For a long time, I did not use a hair dryer or curling iron/straightener on it. I also, started taking biotin after chemo, to help with hair growth. ( my oncologist was fine with that)
My nails are definitely more brittle than normal. I wear rubber gloves when doing dishes, etc to help with that. I have not found anything else that has worked for my nails.

Thanks for the response. Yes, hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones! But good to know it only caused some hair thinning for you, and it's improving.
