Calcifications to chemo

After 20 years cancer free from triple negative at age 47 my last screening mammogram came back with loosely grouped calcifications with focal asymmetry. Diagnostic mammogram suggested with ultrasound if necessary. I go Tuesday. I am now 67. I had a left MX with tram flap recon with first diagnosis. My question is can suspicious calcification go to full blown breast cancer needing chemo etc? The thought of that still makes me sick and weak . 😢 I used this platform to help me through then and I find myself turning to it now.

@labgal Sorry you're dealing with a possible breast issue again. I don't know if you read this helpful article. I know how the thought of all this can make you sick and weak for sure. Remember nothing has been proven yet but needs to be investigated. Take a deep breath and one step at a time as this can be one of many benign conditions. Sending good vibes and positivity your way for Tuesday.

@cookie54 Thank you for the reassuring words. Yes when I am rational I tell myself they just asked for more views and even said if necessary for ultrasound. It also said no spiculated mass or distortion noted. But in the quiet moments of night….it wells up. In my first cancer the surgeon said I am not going to give you my be ready for the worst speech. She thought the lump was not cancer. After the lumpectomy was over and I woke up she said I am surprised but it is cancer. They did a frozen section during the procedure.

@labgal I understand there is nothing like being off guard and then a gut punch! So that’s why we try not to speculate but hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Easier said than done I know. Keep us posted and try to enjoy your weekend.
