HER2 Positive, anybody with cardiac side effects
Hello everyone,
HER2 positive 37 year old here.
Just finished 8 sessions of chemotherapy ( 4 - AC, 4- Taxol , herceptin) ; next step : Surgery
I was recently referred to see a cardiologist as my tropoinin levels were high with slight reduction in LVEF.
I was wondering of anybody has been through same experience and what to expect ?

Big CONGRATS on finishing your chemo! 🎉How are you feeling as you prep for surgery? Do you know what type of surgery you'll be having?
Heart testing is very common during treatment — especially with Herceptin. While you wait for responses from others who've been there, you can read more about this here:

Hi there, I'm triple negative but have been seeing a cardio-oncologist for a little over a year. They are primarily concerned with managing risk — so they ask about personal history, family history, oncological history, lifestyle or other risk factors — and that evaluation determines how often you'll be seen, what kind of testing is needed, and what (if any) interventions should be put into place. They uncovered an issue likely caused by my first round of treatment 14 years ago, which helped to inform the treatment plan my second time around.
I know that doesn't address your specific concern, but I'm a fan of having cardio on the team particularly with adriamycin exposure. Hope you find it to be a positive experience too. Good luck!
