Disappearing Focal Asymmetry
I had a new focal asymmetry on screening mammogram back in March. I got called back and the asymmetry was still visible on mammogram, although it was smaller because of being compressed. It was not present on ultrasound. They said to go back in 6 months.
So, I went back today and got a normal result. (Yay, so relieved!) But, I wonder how that could have happened. Did whatever it was just go away? They did a lot more views on the mammogram today—did that help?

Sometimes focal asymmetry is caused by dense tissue that gets layered when the breast is compressed. That was probably the case since nothing was found on the ultrasound. Because of the callback it seems that this time they were careful about positioning your breast and took extra views to make sure all was well. Congratulations on the clear mammogram!
