unilateral nipple discharge + pain, normal ultrasounds, specialists say it’s fine but I’m st
Hi everyone, I’m 25F, mom of a 5-year-old, and I’m really anxious about my breast health. I’ve already seen specialists but I’m still confused, so I wanted to ask if anyone has gone through something like this.
- Last year: I had an infection after a nipple piercing. There was pus and even some blood from the nipple milk duct (blood, clear and yellow discharge) . I was treated with antibiotics and it improved. At that time, I had an ultrasound (BI-RADS 1) that showed everything normal — no masses, no duct problems, no lymph nodes.
- Now: A few weeks ago I felt heaviness and pain in the same breast. When I pressed it, a very, very small amount of yellow discharge came out, later more clear. It only happens if I squeeze, never spontaneous. It lasted 4 days but it was a little not even a dot.
- Doctors: I’ve seen a senologist-oncologist and a breast radiologist. Both said everything looks fine. Today, the radiologist didn’t even see a lymph node (senologist had palpated it earlier on my check up October 1st, she felt a swollen lymph node in my breast she wasn’t worried). Ultrasound shows normal breast tissue and ducts.
- Current symptoms:
- No longer discharge
- Extremely small amount when I had it
- Not bloody
- Consistent pain I think it’s somatic I don’t know
- I feel a lump even though I had ultrasound 5 days ago
I keep worrying because it happened once last year and now again. Both times, imaging looks completely normal. Doctors reassure me, but I don’t understand why this is happening.
Has anyone else experienced tiny amounts of nipple discharge + breast pain after a past infection, with all ultrasounds normal and specialists say it’s fine? How did it turn out for you?
I have health anxiety, I don’t know how to push for an MRI, I checked Google and horror stories with people that found horrible things, my breasts are small, very small!! I don’t know what to do, I feel crazy.

@jesusdiana_ - Welcome! We're sorry you are here and worried, but glad you reached out.
It’s completely normal to feel anxious about breast changes, especially after a past infection. However, tiny, non-bloody discharge and mild pain are often benign, and benign lumps are also common in young women.
