It's back - Terrified it has spread
Help! Thought it was gone forever, after having DCIS in 2017. Had a single side mastectomy with recon. In June this year, I saw a big lump on my chest. I went to the docs twice - saw a paramedic and a nurse. even though I explained my history, they were both convinced it was a fatty lipoma. I insisted I get seen, they said fine but it would take a while.
31st Oct - it all kicks off. The radiologist from the ultra sound is concerned. I finally get called in 1st Dec to be told it's back. HR + PR + Her2 -
Also dealing with sciatica. So was sent to emergency dept at hospital to get an MRI scan. The doc gave me my notes to handover. I read them. The physio's doc has written "Informally looked at the CT scan - multiple metastases". I should add that these notes were not meant for my eyes. Naturally, I was dumbfounded.
I ask the A&E doc, she looks at the CT scan and says with a forlorn face "I can see lots of lesions". I told her I have had covid. She is convinced it's cancer, though she adds "I'm not a radiologist" I am praying these legions are something else. Neither of them are radiologists.
My oncologist appoint is on 22nd December. I am finding it very hard to cope.
ChatGPT tells me, that my cough sounds like a lingering cold, but I can't help hearing the doc tell me what she did.
I'm in bits and finding it hard to recover from these blows. Trying not to let it affect my 12 year old daughter. It's just us.
How do I cope?

@sunshineandapples, we are so sorry for the worries that brought you here. Given that you were given comments from practitioners who admitted that they are not radiologists, and these comments are not directly from your oncologist, it's important to take them with a grain of salt… the outcome can go either way. If this is indeed a recurrence, those additional lesions might be metastases, OR they may still be considered locoregional recurrence if confined to your breast tissue/ chest wall. If those spots are in your lungs only, it's also a possibility that they're artifacts from a recent respiratory infection. You won't know until you see the formal CT report.
Please contact your oncologist's office and explain the angst that you're feeling, and whether they can provide some local resources for you to get emotional support? Ask them if there is any possibility of moving up the appointment. We're here to support you through this; please know that you're not alone.
