Hello everyone - I am new here
Hello, I'm so glad to have found this site and all of you. This is my first post, so hope I've done it right. I'm here to learn, share and be a comfort to someone else. I've been going thru my journey since late June. I have just finished wk 4 of recovery from my lumpectomy surgery. I have not started treatment yet - - I meet with radiation oncologist for consult next week for first appt. Since my diagnosis, it's been a rollercoaster of emotions, appts. tests & scans. A load of information to try to digest while also dealing with my emotions has been very challenging & often I've felt alone and very anxious. I will be glad to begin radiation soon and I am grateful for my care team.
I am 69 years old, widow, mother and grandmother living in sw Louisiana (Cajun Country). I enjoy travel, movies, nature & bird watching, working in my yard, I hope to begin volunteering with our local cancer services once things calm, I also enjoy arts & crafts and growing in my faith life. Quality of life is so important and this journey so far has taught me so much, like to be more grateful, more mindful of what is truly important, that simple is more, my priorities have changed and my faith continues to grow and brings me the peace I need to face each day — and finding this group is a real blessing. Also, I am grateful for my care team.
I had a lumpectomy 4 weeks ago — IDC: 1.1cm @ 1 o'clock left breast, 3 lymph nodes involved out of 6 removed. ER+ Gr3 Stage 1b. Oncotype Dx: 14 / 3%
