One year of Enhertu for TNBC local reccurance
Hi ladies, I'm looking for women in a situation like mine.
I am treating now a triple-negative, HER2-low breast cancer recurrence. I had a full mastectomy and lymph node removal after the standard chemo for my first diagnostic. Just 2 months after I finished radiation, the cancer came back in my skin.
I started Enhertu right away. My doctors told me it's for life, we'll treat this as chronical illness, and that we just hope my body keeps responding for as long as possible, with no progression.
I'm now 12 months into treatment, last PET scan didn't see any metabolic activity. My hope is to fully recover and to reach the day when my doctor and I agree I'm cured, and I only need checkups, not chemo.
I know what the studies say about survival on Enhertu. It's not good. But I still have my goal.
Is anyone here in a similar situation, with a similar mindset?

Hi @yulianadavid and welcome to our Breastcancer.org community. We're so very sorry for the reasons that bring you here, but we're so glad you've found us. You're sure to find our forums a wonderful source of advice, information, encouragement, and support — we're all here for you!
Enhertu has been a great development in fighting breast cancer, especially after learning that HER2-low and -ultralow cancers benefit greatly. The cancer having this characteristic gives another target for the medications to work on. We have some great resources you can check out on how and why Enhertu is such a promising medication.
In addition, we have many folks here who have benefitted from Enhertu for extended periods of time - years and years, in fact. Because you are stage IV metastatic to the skin, you will likely be on treatment forever, even if you are considered NED (no evidence of disease) or NEAD (no evidence of active disease). As long as you are tolerating the medication, and it's working, your doctors will likely want you to stay on it until it either fails, or you can no longer tolerate the side effects. At which point, they will look at other treatment options to help keep the cancer at bay for as long as possible. There are many, many treatment options.
We encourage you to join our free weekly Virtual Support Groups for Metastatic Breast Cancer, where you can talk with others in real-time about their experiences with Enhertu and MBC.
In addition, we hope you'll check out the MBC forums here - namely, the Enhertu for MBC thread - where others have been sharing their experiences.
We hope this helps and you find our community supportive. Please let us know how else we can help you. You're not alone and we've got you!

Hi moderators. Thanks, but I wasn't looking for a prognostic from you, I have a big team of doctors. I was also not looking to receive that same 2022 enhertu study results again. There is a newer one done in Portugal btw.
I was looking, literally, for what I wrote in my post. Women similar to me, that know the particularities of their situation and don't believe they will live 9,9 months or 22 months. Or women that have decided together with their doctors to stop the treatement. That's all.

Hi @yulianadavid, thank you for clarifying, and we’re sorry we missed the mark with our response. We understand now that you’re looking to connect with women in a similar situation, rather than receive medical information or statistics.
We hope others who can relate will read your post and share their experiences with you. And if there’s anything we can help with as moderators, please know you can reach out to us anytime.
Sincerely,
The Mods0
