Kate:  During my pre-op my PS gave me 3 prescriptions:  one for pain, one for nausea (suppositories) and antibiotics for the first few days post-op.  He also said to expect post-surgery depression (the blues).  It's good to know that it is temporary and that you will come out of this sad phase soon.  Keep writing and sharing your feelings, sister.

Gail:  Writing down your feelings is an excellent idea.  Get if off your chest, so to speak.

Judy:  No infection!!!  That's great news!!!

Hey Kate, I know just what you are talking about. I am 2 weeks post exchange and every little thing STILL bothers me. I also had been finally feeling good before my exchange and now feel like crap - in every way! Blech!! I thought a week off would be enough and scheduled myself to be back at work. After my MXS I had taken a month off. I really could have used more time with this go-round. Driving is particularly uncomfortable. Well, I could go on and on with my complaints, but I will resist. Sometimes it is just hard to look on the bright side, but I think we will eventually get there.

Judy -- Wahhooooooo!!!!  Great to hear that about your healing progress -- finally on the way!  August 16 will be here before you know it :)

Kay -- my BF and I saw TWILIGHT today and loved it!

Kate and Jerusha -- I too was depressed for the first few weeks... I think it's natural for a million reasons: the come down from the anesthesia, the fact that you are healing YET AGAIN, the pain drugs (which I think can leave you bottoming out for a bit), the expectations, the waiting, everything... but you will feel better... it just takes time.  Even with the best possible experience in the hospital one can feel down.  I think it's really normal.  Feel bad, it's okay; like Firni said we're here for you to share in the pity party.

Happy Anniversary Ms. Lrg and MBJ -- fireworks -- nice :)

Oh and Kate: call your PS and find out what can be done re: that allergic reaction to the steristrips.  You should not have to suffer anything else!

    MBJ~ooh a fellow vampire! LOL

LILAH~ was it the 1st film Twilight that you saw or the new one, Eclipse? It was brill! Me and my friend had a great time. Cant wait til they film Breaking Dawn. Its going to be filmed in 2 parts so i heard.

Judy, What type of infection did you have?  I also had an infection after my bilat surgery.. They think that I had cellulitis. My PS was out of town so I was admitted into he hospital for a week. What a nightmare that was. When he returned and examined me he told me he thought that there was NEVER and infection to begin with just fluid buid up which caused the inflamation and redness. I never tested positive for cellulitis but the infection control doctor told me it was because of all of the anti-biotics in my system that it probably altered the blood test.. Who really knows. I think I will believe my PS because as soon as he went in and removed all the fluid  (another surgery) everything was fine ;)... Now I am ready to have my exchange next Monday, July 12. Wish me luck and I will keep you in my prayers.. Take care and enjoy the holiday as much as you can.  Jennifer

    Happy 4th to EVERYONE!!!!!

Kate - Hope you're feeling better. Rest up..I'm sure your body needs it. I would definitely call doc about anti-nausea meds and rash. I don't know what they put in the adhesive on those things. I'm allergic as well. Hope your day gets better.

MBJ & MSLRG Congrats on your anniversaries!! Have a great day celebrating!

Waldo - I am self employed and use Aetna PPO, they have been great so far. Just make sure you get all the necessary pre authorizations. They haven't denied any medical care but I have had problems with prescriptions. I've had to get a few preauthorizations for some meds and my pre Chemo meds initally they so kindly applied to my deductible. $410 for 4 pills. Other than that they have been pretty good and fast when authorizations were needed. Good luck in your new job! That's exciting

Estepp Thanks for the prayer! Everytime I see that commercial "When I grow up I wanna be an old woman" for Kaiser Permanente I well up.

Whippetmom HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! What beautiful flowers and how thoughtful. Enjoy your day!

Thank you Jennifer, and Lilah.. My infection was part of a long series of issues, starting with my exchange to implants when I had radiated skin.  I fought having an Lat Dorsi surgery (I shouldn't have, but hindsight ..)  Anyway it didnot hold, and then, well suffice ti to say I had 4 surgeries in 9 weeks..  I am on the mend now.  By the way cellulitis is very common after this surgery...better to have treated for it, than for it to become systemic...Good luck,  JUDY

Kate, I too felt depressed for about 3weeks, I am coming up on week 6 this week.  I too am in awe that no one called to talk with you about your ordeal.  I would suggest that you call their Risk department to share your experience and concerns this is very terriible.  Hope you get to feeling better, our bodies go through so much with these surgeries.

To all my sister here Happy 4th!  I am on vacation in Colorado and loving having internet access, no cell phone but at least I feel connected!

    Firni-why am I having a TE revision...?????

My PS said at this point if I went in for exchange now, my natural side would be larger than my mx side. I am a uni. My natural breast is a large A/ almost B cup. I am 5"1 and have a small small frame. I have the largest TE my PS could get into my chest at the time of my MX. It is filled to 350cc right now. My PS plan is to put a 400cc in my MX side and a 200cc to augment my natural side. He feels that he could not close the incision with a 400 right now. He told me this may be a possibility for me due to small size/small breasts????

That's why I am asking you ladies..I am scheduled for Tuesday..and I want to have two boobies that are about the same size..

    Happy 4th everyone...((((HUGS))))

Happy 4th ladies... blow stuff up... WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I wanted to ask this question:

I have some monies left from all your contributions to Deborah's gifts..:)
I could either donate it to BCO in care of the  TaTa sisterhood...

    OR

I could donated it to a boy who is 11 and going through Chemo for BRAIN CANCER.

He lives right by me.. and his aunt is on our BCO as a cancer survivor.

I am raising funds for their family at my salon and my FB

You ladies tell me what to do. :)

Kate, I'm so sorry that you went thru such an ordeal.  Give yourself some time, what you're feeling is typical of a lot of us, things will get better.  You said "I've been trying to drink lots and lots to flush it out but I feel like a zombie today"  Maybe if you switch from booze to water...  (LOL, trying to cheer you up)

Jerusha, 2 weeks is still early, you'll get there!  Twirl and Curl, best wishes to you for Tuesday!  Judy, Yeah, you have a date, glad you're feeling better!

Muxiclover!!  Yeah, you're almost finished!!  This is the procedure where you will feel so happy after!!

Kay -- yes we saw ECLIPSE -- the current / latest release.  It just opened wide in the USA.  It was terrific!  I confess I've never read the books but have seen all three of the movies and I think I liked this third one the best!

Laura -- I think the boy sounds like he needs the help the most!  I vote for the boy.  But I also think you should use your best judgment (it is excellent, that judgment).

Judy -- SO glad that the lat dorsi did the trick for you!

Twirl -- I'm so sorry you have to go in for yet ANOTHER TE -- ugh!  I have not heard of that either.  I don't understand why he doesn't just overfill the TE you have. What is the make/model of the TE you have?  How many CCs do you have in right now?  I had a 600 cc TE but it was filled to 850 cc's and then at exchange was given a 685 cc silicone implant (gummy).  I'm also a uni but had a reduction on my remaining breast to try to match.  I have also heard of a method for uni's getting an augmentation on their native breast where the implant there is a saline with a port that allows the PS to add saline as needed (or take it out) to help with the match.

Kimberly -- wahoooo on getting the nips next week!  How exciting to be so close to DONE!

    Happy 4th everyone!

    Happy July 4th to all!!!

Kate33 - You might try writing a letter to the CEO, Head Nurse Manager (I forget what they call them, but the top RN) and to the Risk Management department of the hospital. That should get some action. They need to know what happened (it sounds like a cover-up is in action). If you are consulting a lawyer, I would CC him/her on the letters. They (the hospital) also need to know that you will not use their facility in the future. It is well known that those with a negative experience somewhere will tell something like 10 persons, but someone with a positive experience will likely tell no one or only 1 person. The negatives outweigh the positives in affecting hospital. Our public hospital has Risk Management that takes everything seriously and a survey organization that is sent to random patients. They take all of the information very seriously and have frequent employee meetings to go over statistics. One of the stats is the likelyhood of using the facility again and recommending it to others. When that stat. goes down, the employee meetings on how to fix what's wrong goes up.

Judy - glad to hear you are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel to a successful exchange surgery.

Lilah~i still think the 1st film-Twilight-was the best so far (i was VERY disappointed with New Moon ) but i am getting my hopes up for Breaking Dawn.

I saw Twilight before i read any of the books. Then i bought  all 4 and read them and i have to be honest,New Moon and Eclipse are better in book version as the film leaves too much crucial stuff out. I think thats why they're making Breaking Dawn into 2 films not just 1 .

My friend bought me the wolf and 'diamond' heart trinkets (Bella's graduation present off Jake and Ed) as a gift last year and i put them on a silver bracelet and wore them last night! How's that for a die-hard fan! LOL

Kay -- I love that you did that!  Well sounds like I'm better off not reading the books LOL (if I want to enjoy the movies).  I agree New Moon was not as good as first and third.

Kate:   I thought I'd chime in about contacting the hospital about your experience in the recovery room. At my hospital there is a dept called "patient relations." Check and see if your hospital has something similar and notify them of what happened. I also think that the nurse manager of that dept should be made aware. Maybe your PS can look into the situation on your behalf as well. You and your family deserve to be treated with respect and honesty about what happened. I hope that you are feeling better today.

Lilah~ its a shame cus (IMO) New Moon the book was one of the best books of them all! VERY emotional! I cried so much while reading it. The film portrayed none of the emotion and turmoil that Bella went through when Edward left her. The book is crammed with it and it rips your heart to pieces. **i must stop hijacking this thread lol**

twirlandcurl,  I'm with Lilah in that your TE can be overfilled.  At least up to 200cc over it's recommended size. My PS has even done more overfill than that and he says he hasn't popped one yet.   If a bigger diameter wouldn't go in before, it won't now either.  If the diameter needs a little more, PS can open up the pocket some during the exchange to implant. I've never heard of revising the TE.  I don't mean to "dis" your PS but he's sure you have to do this?  Or is it just that's there's a little more income in it for him?  I know that sounds awful, but a TE revision is not common.  I don't want to get your dander up.  If you trust that this is needed, good luck with the surgery and may it be a nice easy one.

Edited to ask:  Have you posted pictures on the picture forum?

Firni - my PS overfilled my TEs by 80cc and then went larger with the implants. He said it is good to have a snug fit so that the implants do not shift.

I had 350cc TEs overfilled to 460 and then in the end, after a revision, had 550cc implants put in.

I just want to thank everyone for their support and suggestions of how to handle my medical mishap? crisis? f*** up? last week.  I have been trying to get my thoughts together and am planning on contacting the hospital after the holiday weekend.  I've written down all your ideas on who to contact.  Thank you so much.

Any medical experience is extremely difficult for me as I am a victim of abuse and it is difficult to turn my body over to someone and give them control.  Especially if I am under anesthesia and powerless.  So having anything not go as planned brings up those feelings of not being in control.

I guess I wasn't expecting these post op blues, either, though it's nice to know a lot of you had them, too.  I guess I had been feeling so great in the weeks leading up to exchange so it just feels like a slide back down the hill.  This morning I looked at my breasts in the mirror and just cried.  Not because I didn't like what I saw but just the realization of the finality of it all.  That what I saw in the mirror was my new reality and my old body was truly gone.  I think I have never allowed myself to grieve through this whole process because I forced myself to stay busy with the mechanics of getting well.  Today I just hit a wall and there I sat all day until coming on here tonight.  Each kind word and post was another rung on the ladder that will take me over that wall.  Only all of you can truly understand what we have lost and what has been taken from us and you will never know how much this site has meant to me.  I wish I could send a huge bouquet of roses to each and everyone of you!

Kate33...you are so right.  Only the women here can really understand.  This site has totally gotten me through the 8 surgeries in 11 months.  You have certainly had to deal with a lot of unfair unnecessary stuff and have every right to be angry.  But it is hard for "outsiders" to continue to empathize month after month when all they want to do is forget about it.  All of us here do care all the time for as long as anyone wants to talk about their hopes, fears, setbacks, successes, aggravations, tears....whatever it is these wonderful women truly care and totally get it.

Thank you to all!  And please anyone who prays...keep praying for us all.  Please everyone also send healing vibes to all facing and recovering from surgeries and for the rest of us in general.

    Thank you!
