    Hi ladies -

I hope everyone has a great labor day weekend.  I'm sad it's so cold - we were looking forward to being on the lake.

makmak - my son had a murmur too.  When he was about 5 he still had it so they sent him to a cardiologist.  They said it was a normal childhood murmur.  I think it has gone away because no one has mentioned it in a few years - he is 13 now.

Wendy - thanks for the heads up on the Vit D on Amazon.  I haven't heard back from the doc on my level yet so I will call next week.  I thought you stopped taking the 50,000 units because it gave you bad se's?  My doc told me 8 weeks not 6 months.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Laura - glad you got some good advice.  I cringed when you asked the question because my kids are young and I don't want to think about that stuff yet!

    Enjoy the long weekend!

Morning!  Brrrrrrrrrrrr......but it is so nice for sleeping!  And...I think my lawn has finally slowed down.  Haven't cut it this week and don't need to.  Yay!

Marina....don't stress too much over the murmur.  It's not all that uncommon.  Good luck with the nanny issues....she sounds interesting, to put it mildly ;) !

Connie...right after I started the 50,000U I developed deQuervain's in my R hand.  Thought maybe it was the D but it wasn't.  I have my 6month re-check for the D level in 2 weeks so it will be interesting to see what's up.  I do notice that my se's from the arimidex (muscle/joint pain) has diminished by over 50% and onc thinks it cuz my D levels are going up so even if my levels are back to normal I am guessing that they have risen from my lousy 14.

What's everyone doing for the weekend?  We are having a bbq tonight...told everyone to wear jeans and sweatshirts!  Then home tomorrow for us...Monday we go out to friends.  I broke down and got HD box yesterday and hooked it up...looks great...but they gave me a box someone else had and didn't clean it out so it keeps turning on and recording George Lopez reruns!!!!  I will have to download the guide so I can figure out how to shut the stupid thing off.  Jeepers.

Have a wonderful day everyone....WendyTY...you crack me up!  Love following your blog on caringbridge...cigars?????  Too funny...

Wendy, you sound super happy today!  Yes the weather is glorious!  I am going on my walk after I procrastinate by writing to you all.  The computer takes up way too much of my time and I think I need interventionSurprised!  I believe I am addicted to Jungle Jewel and then feel remorse....just like an addiction!  I did work yesterday and it was actually fun.  I was the music teacher so we sang songs written by John Lennon.....almost therapeutic!

We are having breakfast with friends tomorrow, Wendy, and then celebrating my daughters 31st birthday with the whole family on Laborr Day    Baby Lila's test for celiac was negative but the doctor says it is inconclusive.  My daughter was born 31 years ago and she was the tiniest toddler (huge at birth at 9 pounds) but never once did the doctor tell me she was   not growing as expected.  I think we worry about everything these days.  So I am calmer about that now.

That being said, Marina, I agree that heart murmurs  are quite common,  I know adults have them too.  Our precious children give us joys and give us worries.

Blackjack, I took the job because I know that your are right......I will enjoy my teacher friends, the kids and the money and it is just a space of time with a beginning and an end.  I find that now that I am retired I have actually very few friends outside of the school friends and my BC.org friends. You have your boat friends and they must be a fun group.

Have a happy and safe weekend and have fun!

Susan -- I'll forever wonder now.  Hope you are all going to have a wonderful week-end.  Thought you might enjoy knowing a little something about Labor Day.  Did I ever bother to look this up before and the answer is no.

    How Labor Day Began

On September 5, 1882 in New York City the first Labor Day in the U.S. was celebrated as a "workingman's holiday" when (despite the threat of mass firings!) workers united in a parade 10,000 strong down Broadway proudly led by Irish-American activist Peter MacGuire.

    A holiday was born.

From New York, the idea spread across the country to honor workers every year. Congress finally passed official legislation in 1894 making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday.

This year, it falls on Monday, September 6, 2010.

See you all later.  I am thinking about all of you and wishing the very best.

    Hugs, Jackie

It was nothing, Jackie.  Lots of typos and my DH was calling to me to hurry up so no time to edit.

Have a great holiday.  many will be on or near the water.  We will join old friends for breakfast and then celebrating my daughter's 31st birthday!  It will all be good!

I was the music teacher yesterday and as I cannot sing, we had a John Lennon sing fest....sort of like Karaoke.  The kids and I had a blast!

BJ I am taking that maternity sub job for just the reasons your listed and in that same order (teacher friends, kids and money).  My school is very cool.  It is in Wilmette and people tend to think of Wilmette as being all white.  Not so.  My school is very multicultural and so it offers wonderful diversity. It truly enriches my life.  I am thankful I do not need to go every day as it is exhausting.  DH and I are going to California to see my childhood friend.  It is so great not to go during the holidays as I have had to as a teacher all these years.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Just got back in from eating sushi and a little walking around in Old Town with my husband and sister. About to head out again to Trader Joes. It feels so good to be out of the house.

Just have to chime in.  I have been enjoying keeping up with everyone's post about what you are doing for the weekend.  Gives me hope as I spend Labor Day weekend in recovery mode from my final chemo last Tuesday.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday are always the worst.  I feel like a bear in hibernation but think that I will be able to come out of the woods soon.  To make matters worse, I had a tooth that was really bothering me yesterday so I managed to get into my dentist before he took off for the weekend.  One thing led to another and soon I was at an endodontist getting my first root canal.  Yuck!  Really wasn't too bad, but now I am on amoxicillin.  Just what I need, more drugs!  Just venting.  Have a great weekend.  Will be fun to meet you all for lunch or dinner sometime.

Joan -- goodness, that does not sound like a fun day to me.  I'm not much for root canals, geesh, I'm not even much for dentists to tell the truth.  Only had one root canal and one was enough and then some.  And right, more drugs killing off good bacteria though during chemo you may not have much anyway --- not sure.  I had to do a boat-load of Prilosec during my chemo --- but it sure made life livable.  I'll be hoping you are totally on the mend from your se's and root canal too.

Thanks Susan.  Without that little spell checker guy hiding up top of where we write I don't know what I'd do.  Hard to believe I could spell so well and poof'  --- not sure where it all went but an accumulation of things -- not chemo brain -- I think it's more like brain mis-fire.

I have been loving the cool mornings here too.  I did not mind the heat, but that ole' humidity was hard to take, day after day.

I hope you are all going to have a most fantastic Sunday.  I'll be back tomorrow.  See you then.

    Hugs, Jackie

Waving to everyone from the lake. Sniff sniff no boating today. Cold and windy today up here at the lake. There are white caps on the water which is not a good sign. The boats are bobbing all around in that choppy water. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I am loving this cooler weather, just great for those hot flashes. lol   But I really do miss my hot weather. Where ol where did my summer go. Jackie I hope you are enjoying the cooler winds. Yes,I too hated the humidity. It was bad for my hair. lol

Zap....I am so glad you decide to go for it and take the temp job. Your kids really do need a great teacher and that is YOU. We sure do not have enough teachers out there. Friday was a day from hell at school for me. Ambulance run, a fx wrist, 3 head injuries and my 3rd grade teacher has an asthma attack in her classroom. They call me down to check her out and I whine up teaching her class for  20 mins. I don't know how you keep them in line. They were just all over the place.

So glad the weekend is here. Joan I hope you are feeling better soon and get to come out of hibernation. Remember to take one day at a time.

I am going to see the Beach Boys tomorrow at the Fest. There are only 2 original ones left in the group. But I still like them anyway. BQ Party Monday then back to work. It will be a short week. Yeah for me.

Hope everyone is having a fun filled weekend with family and friends. Remember to be healthy...be happy and enjoy life!!!

Happy Labor Day Weekend to all.......

Root canals are not painful. I've had several. It's the bill that causes the pain. BTW I went to the dentist on Monday… yes the day before surgery. Granted only for a cleaning.

Good morning everyone --- I'm sniffing for you to Bj.  No sailing, oh my!!!  We are not having too much for wind -- but fairly low temps for what it has been and no humidity.  That is the part I really like.  Another cooler day today -- ok by me.  There are nuts and shells of same all over my driveway.  Huge sign of the arrival of Fall.  Though it will be awhile --- the summer has seemed quite brief for the most part.  Maybe ( big ssshhh here ) that is in part because I'm a wee bit older and all time seems faster now --- or because I did work quite a bit there for a spell and was not aware of time at all except the thought now and then that there wasn't enough of it.  Thank goodness.....I am well slowed down now.

It is only now that is important --  heard it so often and I do try to live that way.  Also, while we all have to live by "clock time" -- the less we have to, the better.  If we are watching the clock and pacing ourselves by it --- we are not having as much NOW as we should.  When now is all that matters --- more things tend to turn out right because you are making decisions off the clock -- not based solely on what you did before or what you think you should do --- but what your heart tells you is right for right now.

Ok --- nuf' of that.  I get so caught up in some subjects and just keep going long after I should have stopped.  Hope you all have a most wonderful Sunday -- without whitecaps and cold winds.

    Many hugs,  Jackie

Morning....was 46 on the deck this am....but the sleeping was wonderful!

BJ.....hope boating is on the agenda for you today!  It was quite breezy...enjoy the Beach Boys.  They were my favorite group back in the day!

Jackie....ok...STILL waiting for pix of Raccoon Lake!  Hey....if I can butt in your territory...I have a quote, author unknown..

"You bring your own weather to the picnnic".

Took me a few minutes to ponder that and I really liked it and it made so much sense to me that I typed it up and taped it to my mirror.  How our day turns out is all in how we approach it.  True ...some things are beyond our control but for the most part how we deal with our day can make or break it.  OK...done in Jackie's territory!

Root canals...I've had 4 over the years and they were never painful.  DH had one and he was in agony until he could get back and they removed the temp.  Same with my sis.  So, I guess it can go either way.  But yeah...that bill!  Wow.

Hope you are all doing as well as can be today...please try and get out and enjoy this late summer weather.  Really is nice out...tomorrow even warmer but very windy I hear.

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

    PS to Budders.....how's that corn??????

I had babysitter interviews today since we never had time for just me and dh..  Two girls came and I like them both and kids like them too so, we are thinking keep them both and rotate..^^  The last time me and dh went out for dinner, right before my mx surgery which was 2years ago (btw, I just had my 2 year cancerversary few days ago~~) and that time my in-law took the kids and kept them for whole month..

And now, I have last reconstruction (nipple for bad side and lift for good side) surgery on Tuesday in the morning and that's why we need a sitter for watch our kids since hospital won't recommend us to bring young kids..  So, while everyone's enjoying the holiday I have to get ready for my surgery for the next day and make sure I have everything for sitter too..   The surgery will take about 90 minutes and hopefully I will be home by 1 pm..

I hate looking at the bills from dentist...  I don't mind going but it cost too much for root canals..

Everyone, have a good time and enjoy your holiday~!!!

First and foremost this morning:  Wendy,I loved that quote and just may have to tape it to my wall --- that would be wonderful on one of those wooden signs, wouldn't it??  So, glad you saw that and shared it -- I am richer now and as a bonus I got to see thru your eyes and try and feel a lot of what you felt.

I think it is going to be a good day here.  I am going to pretty much take it easy and other than cooking, everything I do will be relaxed.  Won't pour on the usual steam.  First, because I procrastinated big time I will have to make a run to the grocery ( major sigh I'm sure you can all hear quite well ) as some things never seem to change with me.  Running so late yesterday that it was well after dark ( coming much earlier lately ) and I just couldn't work up any desire to go to the store when I was out of that much steam --- so came home, washed up, jammies and my chair.  I think I paced it all just right to hit that great recliner when there was nothing left.

I hope you all will have a good day whatever you do.  In honor of that great quote that I plan on stealing big time from Wendy --- here are some that go along.

    Hugs, Jackie

Happy Monday to all. It is cold and raining up at the lake so it looks like boating is done for the season. Sniff sniff. I had a wonderful time last night at the Beach Boys concert. John Stamos( Full House Uncle Jesse) was on stage too!! I had way to much fun and today I have no voice. I am so excited that John will be on Glee this year. I can't wait !!!!!! The county fair was fair. I never went to one before so it was an experience for me. The only sad thing was that there was so much unhealthy food there. uck! The grossest thing I saw there was deep batter fried bacon strips with chocolate sauce on them. It was so gross, but people were eating them up. But I guess that is what they enjoy. Could not find one healthy thing there.... except for the sugar coated almonds. lol

Elf...good luck with your surgery this week. I hope the new sitters work out for you and you and dh get to have some alone time together.

Jackie....hope you have a relaxing day.....as you so deserve it. Hope you can sit by the water an chill. You know it is really good for us.

Wendyty.. thinking of you and hope all is going well with txs.

Wendy... Loved your quote too. Yes we do have control of the day. So lets start the day with fun and laughter.

Laura...have fun with family today. Bring on that healthy food.!!

Well girls it is that time of year to mark your calenders for our annual xmas party. I am thinking of  Friday night dinner or Saturday brunch. It will be the first weekend in Dec. Please shoot me an email or pm for your vote. It is a great fun filled time for all. Good food, great friend and lots of laughter....so let me know your vote.

Well I am off to the gym now. Have a wonderful day. Remember to be healthy...be happy and enjoy life.!!!!! Hugs to all

    Good morning everyone!

Joan, congrats on finishing the chemo.  It won't be long and the side effects will disappear and you'll be feeling more like yourself.  YEA!

Elf...glad that you've found a couple of gals to help with the babysitting.  That should remove some of your stress.  We don't need continued stress in our lives.

Susan, your music teacher day sounds like it was fun!  Just keep doing the things that you enjoy!

We got up early yesterday and drove into the city to see a Cubs game.  It was so much fun and the game was great!  Cubs win!  Cubs win!  Yes, I must admit we stopped for a couple of hours to eat the buffet at the Empress (just what I needed after the ballpark hotdog!) and to play the slots.   We didn't spend much time there because Dave had to get up early today and work but we had fun and I won a little cash.  We were still home fairly early for us!

Saturday we did go out on the lake with our boat and caught a couple of catfish and a few blue gill.  Then we came home and made appetizers to take to a late afternoon cookout with friends.  I love cookouts...filled with good company, good food, and lots of laughs.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and that your Tuesday is off to a good start.  I need to get off this computer and get working on my list of things to do, which includes a trip to the library. For you readers, I got a couple of fantastic books last time from the library and couldn't put them down.  If you run across them, you might want to try:  Linda Howard's Open Season;  Edna Buchanan's Suitable for Framing; and Greg Isles's 24 Hours!  It's been a long time since I brought home such good books.

Oh Rita, it sounds like you are having so much good fun!  I am sorry we could not get together.....next time.  Wendy, you sound so happy too these days...so pleased with your life.

It is so Falllish here...love it.  I am off to care for the babies.  Today is the house inspection on the new home.  I have that bone density test on Thursday as I am on the armidex.   That test doesn't bother me as I know there are meds if I need them.  All the other tests make me anxious.

DH and I are planning our trip to Californina in November. We are going to Pasadena and Los Angeles to spend time with my childhood friend who has lymphoma but is doing well.  Jackie, what part of California are you from?

To all in treatment, feel well.  Ginny up in heaven, we miss you.

    Have a good week!

Sounds like so many had so much fun over the Labor Day weekend.  I feel much better today.  Went to a movie last night with my DH.  It was so good to get out of the house again.  I am an avid cycler and couldn't wait to get up and ride early this morning.  First time in quite a while and I rode 7.5 miles.  Alot less than my usual, but it is another start back on the road.  Now that chemo is over, it is time to work this body back into shape!

makmak, I had a weird dream the other night.  I was working for you as your nanny and you had a beautfiul home on the lake!  Must have been the chemo drugs and everyone talking about their weekend on the lake.

Love the cool crisp morning air today.  Feels a little different on this bald head for a change!

Have a great week.  I am back to work.

Good morning.. LOL about the dream.. but our house does have a lake so partially true.. :)  We have an AMAZING temp that started yesterday and I'm already so relieved FOR NOW.. though she did say we'll see how things go and maybe she'll stay through April.. which would be PERFECT... So crossing my fingers that she likes us.. she has worked for one family for 6 years and another over a year.. means a lot to me if people kept her so long..

Tomorrow is a mammogram and ultrasound for me.. and I'm more anxious than when I get my scans.. I think it's because it brings me back to where it all started.. but hey, if I get some good news I won't dread that place anymore...

Glad everyone had a good weekend.. looks like a good comfortable weather week ahead... now if only my DH gets over his nasty cold I'll feel like I can start packing for our very long awaited Vaca...

Made it through the second chemo in the set.  It's interesting what I selectively remember about chemo.  Got a little behind on the bowels thing.  OMG!  I forgot how bad it could be.  My counts were borderline today.  We went ahead with it.  I get the shot tomorrow if it comes in.  Long story.  Just wanted to thank you girls for all the support.  Off to spend time with my hubby and parents.

My drains were removed today. Nurse said I was doing exceptionally well. Have very good range of movement. The other nurse was surprised how little bruising I had for just 1 week out from surgery. Granted I'm multicolors but mostly yellow no real dark black or blue.

Can't wait to shower. Finally they said I can shower now the drains are gone.

Yeh, yeh for you lago!  What a relief it is to get rid of those darn drains.  I was able to take showers from day one with mine.  They gave me a neck strap with a hook to hang them from in the shower and it worked great.  Keep making good progress.

Wendyty.. sorry you are having to go through this again, but sounds like you have a great positive attitude.

WendyTY --- sorry for the slow-down that was low down.  Guess Miralax will be your new best friend.  For some reason CB would never let me know when you posted so I have to admit I was lazy and did not go into the blog.  I sure hope you know we think you are one terrific person and have lots of hope things go fairly easy this time.

Lago, I think I hear a big sigh of relief.  Every little ounce of normalcy that comes along is a good thing.

Susan -- I lived in the Santa Barbara -- Ventura areas.   I think they are about 35 miles apart.  We lived half way up a hill in Santa Barbara called the Mesa.  In Ventura we lived about a mile from the beach in a huge mobile home park.  Was in the area about 25 years and I truly enjoyed my time and life there.  We were about 75 miles north of Los Angeles when we lived in Ventura.  It was home for a long time but the minute my Mom left the state, I lost any deep feeling for it and chose to come home and be with her --- something I've never regretted

Well I'm off to the living room and all my pals in there.  Talk to you all tomorrow.

    Hugs, Jackie
