I think Vitamin D is supposed to be a minumum of 30.  I know my son's was 31 after taking 2000 IUs per day for a few months even, so 800 may not be enought for you.  But of course see what the Dr. says.  I think a trip to Hawaii should be prescribed!

Snow looks kind of pretty on daffodills and forsythia but I'm glad to see the green grass return this afternoon.

I had my follow-up on the sentinel node and they weren't concerned about the level of pain I was having and finally it does feel a little better today.  Tomorrow I have my big surgery.  Wish me luck.  Have to be there at 5:30 am and I live an hour away in good traffic.  At least I'll be too tired to be anxious.

TwoHobbies...I will be thinking & praying for you tomorrow....That is pretty early...

Hope you get a little rest before the trip.  Thanks for the info on the Vitamin D.

I sent copies of my reports to all three docs...(oncologist, breast surgeon and general

practioner)  So hopefully one of them will let me know what I need to be doing.

ATeamNana - My nutritionist and endocronologist both said I should get my Vitamin D level up to around 60.  Oncologist claims that anything within normal range (30 -100) is good.  At dx I was at 31, last month was up to 48.  Took six months to move up to 48 - taking 4,000mg per day.  Need to take it with/right after food.

Morning....what a horrible weather day!  My grass has grown so much in a week but no way to mow it and it doesn't look good for this week either....gonna really be hard to bag it all up.

TwoHobbies....hope today is going well!  Prayers for a good result....and an uneventful recovery!  Gentle hugs....

Happy Passover for those of you who celebrate!!!

Makmak....something I haven't thought about in years but your comment about your DD's prom dress stuck a chord.  I had one last Chemo to do and I went to my grandniece's communion.  Watching her come into the church in that long white dress....well.....I started to cry and I actually excused myself.  Luckily I was on the aisle and I was able to fake my way out of it by saying I had something in my contact.  It had just hit me that....I may not be around to see her grow up and get married.  That was my "ah-ha" moment about cancer.  Never told anyone about this.....

BJ.....Where the heck is my beach chair??????  39 and pouring out right now!  AND....I have 2 appts to go to!  AND...my SUV got towed yesterday and won't be back until late tomorrow so I am driving around in a convertible!  REALLY takes the fun out of the Z....which leads me to Jackie...

Jackie...those are mighty tiny cars!  Getting in is ok, you just kinda fall into the car.  Getting out I swing both legs out, lift up my L arm and pull my self up and out!  Jeepers!  Poor Maggie...does she have any family that could help?  Or an agency?

Laura....how's the job?  Did you decide to build?

    Jan....how are the lungs?

Rita....what a shame that you have a brand-new convertible and are stuck with this weather!

Lago....you haven't mentioned your nails in a while?  How are they?

Need to get going to my appt.....in the POURING rain..but as I am on the computer I checked out FB which I usually only read on the iphone.  Where it pops up...the "mutual friend" section?  Ginny was there, smiling away....she was suggested as a friend as I never got around to sending her a friend request.  That was so strange.  And eerie.

Have a wonderful day everyone and be careful driving in this weather!  Have appt with the rad onc at 2...wish me luck!  These appts never get any easier....hard time sleeping last 2 nights....

Nasty weather day for sure.  It is only 37 degrees, dark, raining hard and I just heard some thunder.  Glad I don't have to be anywhere today until later this afternoon... another little bitty trim on my neckline and a brow waxing.  Hair is growing ever so slowly. Not really enough to "style" yet, but just have to keep all these waves under control.

I keep seeing Ginny's picture pop up on FB as a suggested friend also.  It is very eery.  I never had the opportunity to meet her and she passed before I found you gals.

Wendy... you still see your rad ONC?  I am scheduled every six months for now, but sort of thought those appointments might end after a year or two.  I cannot believe how I seem to have at least one doctor appt every week.  Sure would like to eliminate some.  Tomorrow, I have my annual with my GYNE which is where this whole BC mess started a year ago.  Not looking forward to it... suppose we can skip the breast exam?

Hi all.  Finally came our of my post-colonoscopy anesthesia fog on Sunday.  Met the DD's new b-friend.  Seems nice enough, but we'll see..

Lovely weather we're having. :O)  Actually, I don't mind rain or storms at all, love them, really; I just can't handle COLD.   I need to get ready for work, followed by a wake all the way in Morton Grove.  A co-worker's father passed away suddenly.  I think it's just my age, but I feel like I go to a wake just about every month anymore. sigh.

The DS is finally starting to look for an apartment downtown with 3 of his friends.  They want a 4 bdrm which will limit their options quite a bit, but they aren't in any rush.  They are NUTS because 3 of them will be reverse commuting every day, but they don't seem to mind.  Ah, youth.

BJ - Congrats on your walk,  March of Dimes is such a worthy cause.  My office is doing a group for one in McHenry county.  I can't participate that weekend, but I'll be doing the Y-Me walk with my family on Mother's Day.  It's all good, IMO.

Mak - Enjoy shopping for Prom dresses!  I loved every minute of it, and my DD is super picky.  We finally found a very pretty and different dress at Peaches.  I think I even posted a picture of it here at the time.  What a fun time to share with you DD.

Susan - Congrats on finishing work.  Enjoy your well-deserved time off!  Wish I was joining you...

TwoHobbies - Glad to hear your biopsy pain has eased.  I don't remember having pain specific from the sentinel node biopsy, but I had my procedure the same day as my mast. so it was all a blur.

Wendy - Good luck at the Rad Onc.  What does he do exactly?  Doe he do your physical exams?

Joan - How odd is this?  You were in a dream I had last night.  I don't remember the details, but it involved Chinatown.  LOL!  Probably the travel thing is on my mind again...

    Have a great day everyone!

Morning...I'd say good, but I'm not sure yet.  Thought I'd be driving Dh to work in a deluge and much the same to come home in, but it cleared.  I do think it may be still coming though.  Ominous thundering sounds erupt every so often.  Yes, I think something, sometime will show.

Otherwise hoping for a productive day.  It will be about 80 they say -- least the rain won't be too cold, huh !!!  Don't have the deck table and chairs out yet....trying to avoid the green pollen haze, but if those temps keep up....will need it.  After all these storms more yard clean up.

Maggie....has only me.  No family here and she does not like change.  That translates into not wanting an agency of any kind.  Also, I think she isn't penniless and that is how you come by most of the help you get in this state.  She doesn't have much, but too much to "qualify".  If nothing else it may help her learn her limitations.  I told her.....she could do some small amt. of wt. bearing work at home.....just using a couple cans of gr. beans and a kitchen chair.  I doubt she'll do it, but I put it out there anyway.

Wouldn't it be nice to skip the yucky parts of Spring....the pollen, allergies, tornadoes.....ok, I promise, I'm just going to go back to being happy I'm alive and well.  Hope some of that junk misses us though.....and we can all mow really soon.

    Hugs, Jackie

Well....it's 34 and raining. Done now with Spring.

I see my rad onc once a year. He does the usual breast/ check nodes exam. Truthfully I don't know why I still see him but I feel he does the best exam. I am guessing that after the 5yr mark he will cut me loose. I schedule my 4 doc's so that I end up seeing one every three months. It works for me...just hate the anxiety associated with them.

Rene....your son is nuts! But then...he's young! Won't a 4bed be really hard to find?

    Gotta scoot to the doctor!

I've been a bit quiet. Just dropping to say hello. Finally got that colonoscopy appointment… next Tuesday. Wow only took a week to get the appointment. Took longer to get the request. Tongue out

I went topless for the first time Sunday. It was a bit freaky to see all the gray. I never had that much. I did get it colored yesterday. It came out too red. My hairdresser darkened it once. I wasn't in the mood to stick around for another fix. If interested you can check it out on the hair thread at the bottom of the page.

    Hope everyone is keeping warm.

Good Morning Everyone....What a nasty evening here.....I was able to get some sleep and was

calmer than expected....storms make me extremely nervous.   I did get all back from one of my doctors and she wants me on 5000 D3 per day for 3 months..I was only taking 800...whew that sounds like a lot but one score was <4 and total Vitamin D level 21 so she would like it much higher than that...hope it helps with some of the fatigue/anxiety issues.....

Have a great day everyone!  Hoping for some sunshine here today!

Elf, we MISS YOU!  Your new home sounds so nice and I'm so glad you found one that suits your family and its needs.  Enjoy but continue to keep us updated!

Susan, You're extended "sub" job is finished.  You did it!  I admire you as I think I'm too lazy now to do that.  I haven't had any time to visit Jungle Jewels this week....just a couple of quick games that weren't very high-scoring.  It IS addictive!

Marina, I'm so glad that you found that perfect dress.  YEAH!!!!  I missed that type of experience since I only had the one son.  It has to be a very special mother-daughter time.  You do need to post prom pictures for us.

A group of gals who get together once a month on Wednesday afternoons are going on a short road trip today to Elkhart, Illinois today to a unique cafe that's similar to a Tea Room.  Then we'll detour into Lincoln on the way home and shop a few of the specialty shops.  I started this group the year after my chemo journey as a way to get out of the house more in the winter and we have had a really good time.  It should be a great day away!   We always seem to have fun.

Well, I'm off to accomplish something around the house before we take off.  I hope everyone has a great day.

Lago -- your hair looks great!  I'm very jealous... now that I'm getting my energy back after chemo, it's the hair that is bothering me the most..... the wig is SO hot, and I'm still wearing it to the office everyday, as I'm around so many people that I don't know, it's just easier to not draw any attention to myself, but the hot flashes are making me nuts.   That means, I am the only one who wasn't sad to see some cold weather come back!

Thanks everyone regarding the hair. Hoped for an unveiling this Friday but I knew that lunch was going to be cancelled. I'm dissapointed but I'm glad we will have another date when more folks can show up.

LisaMomOfFour hot or not I feel for you regarding the wig. I hated wearing it the 2 times I did in December. It's just not that comfortable. To be honest if you walk around like nothings wrong and act yourself I find people are less likely to react negatively. My friends who say me for the first time in a scarf reacted like "wow it's still you and you look fine." Some even thought I looked great.

There is always the option of wearing scarves or hats and sticking hair to the end for bangs or back hair. It has to cooler and more comfortable than the wig.

Good morning Adey. You 2 word posts always crack me up Tongue out

Elf so glad the unpacking is done!

Adey... good morning.  And hello to the rest of you wonderful gals also.  That was a big storm last night.  After my hair trim, I met a friend for early dinner and then headed to the health club to get in my workout and swim.  The lightning was soooo bad and pouring rain.  I thought I'd wait it out in the car, but that storm just would not give up so I just went home.  Arrrgh!  I really needed that workout and won't have time today.  The swimming has really helped keep any LE under control.

Headed off to my annual GYNE appt soon.  Hope I get better news this year than last year.  Our son and his new wife are coming in from Charlotte tomorrow night and we are looking forward to a fun weekend with them.  Our son is treating us all to a Really miss those guys.  Then next week we get to go down to Naples, FL for a beach wedding.  Yeah!  Can't wait.

Everyone make the best of the day!  Lago... your hair looks great!  My trim yesterday really added some style, but haven't colored it yet.

Okay, I must be really out of it.  I do not see Lago's hair!  Where is the picture?

Rita, all that fun with friends sounds so great!  I was with my grandchildren today and had a blast.  We painted eggs, but then Lila Grace decided that wasn't creative  enough, so she started painting herself.  I had removed their shirts so they wouldn't get messed up with tempera.  Lila had beautiful artwork on her little chest.  I wish I had gotten a picture.  My first day off from  school (yesterday) was spent with bf Sally (she was the one who lost her husband).  We had such a relaxing time recalling the Memorial.  You are not lazy Rita to not be working'  you are just doing fun and meaningful things rather than focusing on the distractions of work.  It all feels so good for me to have time to relax and think again.

Have fun with fam, Joan and I so hope all is well with the visit to the doctor..

I had to bite the bullet and I am now on high blood pressure;  that makes  four pills/day.  I always remember my grandma who had all these pills on her nighttable and I am beginning to feel old.  She swallowed them all down with a whiskey sour and lived to be 95, so maybe pills are okay.  I am with a very aggressive primary doc.  He has some sort of system that filters out high blood pressure people who come for other issues (pink-eye, cold, a rash) and who have high blood pressure when they attend to this minor issues.  I never go for physicals, as I just never have time...so they got me thorugh the routine visits.  Good for someone like me who hates to go to the doctors unless I have pink eye, a cold, or a rash....  I know so little about this, but I think that maybe this is not forever. Again, weight and lifestyle could lower it all.

Laura, I know you are working now, but I missed what it is you are doing? Also I keep hearing the housing market is improving so a sell may be right for you now.

    Take care!  Susan

Lago, I like the color of your hair.  It makes your pretty eyes just "pop" and sparkle.  It's very attractive on you.

Susan, I'm glad you're finally going to get some time to relax and enjoy the things you want to do. We had a great time on our ladies' roadtrip on Wednesday.  This little cafe "in the middle of nowhere" was very unique and the food was fantastic.  Everything is homemade right on the premises.  It's definitely worth another trip that way and of course our crazy group had a super time.  I have been taking a mild high blood pressure pill for about 5 years now.  I had hoped that I could get off of it with exercise and a good diet, but evidently my exercise and good diet are too sporadic because I'm still taking it.

It did get a bit warmer this afternoon.  I should have been out walking but I'd just picked up the Regional Scholastic Bowl Questions and spent the afternoon reading through them and checking out pronunciations.  I fixed a meatloaf for dinner and can't wait to watch the American Idol results.  Anyone into American Idol, and if so, who do you like?

I hope everyone is having a good day and feeling well.  Take care and have a wonderful weekend and holiday.

Wow,,,,hi after a couple of days away.....we got into that storm pattern Tues. night....lost power and just got it back a little while ago.  I had to clean out my freezer and refiregerator   Oh well.  It needed a good wash anyhow.

Anyway we were ok here but I have to say it ws a pretty scary thing.  Wind and all sorts of pelting going on....lots to twigs, branches,  tree limbs, a little hail.  Just very wild.  I got pretty nervous and I usually never do.  I think it was the loss of power so quickly.  Centralia was fairly hard hit...no tornadoes....just a lot of downed trees -- too many caving in houses but all were safe thank goodness.  My cousin's house was totalled. Sightly over thirty years, and probably only do about 35 seconds for the tree that broke through the roof.  They had remodeled ( working on that the last four yrs. or so and only had the dining room floor left.

Team Nana and Joan.....you got some of it too from the sound of it.  Not fun.

Elf.....how wonderful to live among the Pines --- it sounds like something from a poem.  Glad you are able to relax and enjoy it and have your house together.  It sounds so pretty.

Well, I need to get off to my recliner.....hard day today but having the house warm again is making me sleepy.  See you all in the morning.  I like your hair to Lago.

    Hugs, Jackie
