O, Beanie that was definately worth logging on for! DH and I were reminiscing recently about how much I used to love roller coasters. He finally admitted that I took him on some rides that scared the bejeezis out of him! I remember that I couldn't get him to raise his arms... he just sort of patted his hands with elbows bent and said, "wooo". I fully extend my arms and scream with abandon. I stopped doing rides when I was pregnant 19 years ago and started again after the 2nd dd was born only to find that they gave me migraines. I can still do a nice roller coaster (we have a vintage ride at the Boardwalk which I should take advantage of before they shut down for the season)... anything more intense makes me regret it later. Maybe the trick is to drink a lot of red wine and then go on rides so I can blame the rides for the headache?

I am finally making headway.  Have the IRS thing on its way out the door.  Just a case of documenting, and a major refresher in "eating crow".

Now, there is a career opportunity.  Teaching basic "eating crow" skills!!!

So two down......now back to focusing on my career and to snagging the right slot.

I think I am going to drink to surviving this week and ending it on a much better note. - Claire

Just checking in again for news on Risque Whiskey...hoping to hear something soon.

I am afraid no fridge today. The sales rep tried to talk me into something smaller but I said no. He was a tough salesman. I will move on to searching Best Buy, Lowes and Home Depot. It seems that the bisque color is phasing out.

I was thinking of moving the old fridge to right outside my woman cave so that I do not have to go the house for drinks lol. Do you gals think it is tacky to have an old fridge in the yard? Hmmm.

I will check back later...I am having friends over and we willl be doing karoke in the yard. My constractor just stopped working and has joined us for drinks.  Gots to go, will check back later!!

I'm baaack! Everything went well today, although it was NOT fun...lol. The part I hated the most was having to lie still in that contraption for 16 min (seemed like hours!) while it took pics. Of course I even had a bad hot flash while having to lie still.....I think the room must have gotten hot as the nurse said she felt real hot then too. Maybe mine was so strong I heated up the entire room??? J/K. The cute male nurse (my DH knows him though, darn!) told me it all looked real good and didn't look like anything was wrong. So I am warning you all now....NO ONE is ever to leave this lounge except if they are in good health. I cannot stand losing anyone else. I guess the stress and grief of losing Junie, plus worrying about my mom, just did me in. Glad to know it must have been stress related and not heart-attack related! Thanks for all the caring, it means a lot to me!

And Thank God Lori is baaaack too....I was really worried about you, girlfriend! Don't scare me like that!! Hope the movie was good and you had a fun time in town!

NM, Loved all your pics too, esp the risque barstools! Was going to claim one, but now I see DorK already claimed one. Well, we can each have one, right? Sooooo cute. Glad you had such a nice kayak outing, and saw so much! How special....still tooooo hot here, so will wait awhile longer till we venture out in ours again.

Kymn, What a nice celebration! If I count when my parents FIRST got married, then they will be married SEVENTY years this year! OF course, they did take a long break in the middle (like 40+ years!).

Beans, I love the kitty litter roller coaster! Really made me smile! Hope you are feeling okay now, that was quite a scare too!

Stanzie, which day is your b'day? Is it tomorrow????

Well, need to read more and ketchup....read right when I got home, and then DD and my 2 grandkids that live here, came to visit. OH, this is sooooo cool....she was showing me pics on her tablet of last weekend when they hauled in 450 tons of sand to a downtown street and made it like a beach. They had hills, tunnels, water, etc. My grandkids had a ball. Then, as she scrolled, I saw pics of them stitching a giant flag. I thought WTH is that? Well, the "911" flag that is going across the country, stopped here, the only place it stopped in Alabama. And my grandkids and my DD got to put a stitch in it, and sign the official book. I didn't even know they had done that, and it was prob 2 wks ago. Neat, huh!

OK, Pau Hana time now, and I am having a Seagrams/Diet. Anyone here to join me in a dwink, or two, or three, or... ? AND I am on my new barstool with the almost nude bottom on it! DorK, come on and sit in yours too!!!!! We will drive the TT's crazy!

    ChEARS,

    Kathy

OOPS DorK, bumped ya....sawwy! Really? Your contractor is joining you for a dwink? How neat! On the fridge in the yard thingie.....if you painted it wild....like pic a color you like and then paint a background color, then paint peace signs all over it, graffiti, or long stems of flowers, birds, anything. I think if you make it a focal point it could look neat. But just a fridge in the yard....ummm....no! Would have to look like you wanted it to be there. I have seen neat antique metal headboards in a bed of flowers that really looked neat....but just a regular headboard....no. So you could have fun with it! Sorry the fridge purchase did not work out, but glad you will shop some more. Did you ask if your Sears will price match to another store? Ours does that. And for some reason, our Sears does not charge tax if you pay to have them deliver it. The other stores (Best Buy, etc) charged sales tax no matter what. So that is a big savings, if yours does that. Our tax is 8%, so quite high. Good luck in finding a great deal!!!!!

I just talked to Bob. He has already received many cards, and appreciates everyone's thoughts and concern! The memorial service for Junie will be in Kansas City on August 20 at 12 noon. If anyone would like to attend, please send me a PM and I will send you more details. My DH and I are hoping to be there, and will start making plans now, as I just found out the exact date.

Hi Kathy......so glad you got everything checked out.  Thankful you are OK.

I can only imagine as I know Junie's loss hit you very hard.

Funny story......I went and chatted with one of the building personnel.  We high fived it for making it to Friday.  His boss took a mental health day today.  It has been that sort of week.

Things are a-changing.  Went to the Post Office.  No line, and they were pleasant.  Tax info is out the door.  I am taking that as a harbinger of good things to come.

I have a nice lamb chop for tonight's dinner and fresh rosemary I "pinched" on the way back.

Think I am ready for something strong......  YAY for Friday night!!!! - Claire

And with the time difference, I am 2 hrs or so ahead of you Claire, and I haven't even THOUGHT about what to have for dinner....LOL. It seems to be an afterthought here, lately. Lamb chops sound good though.

Just got our plane res to go to Junie's service...very nice DL agent, thank God....he even waived the penalty, which I didn't expect him to do. Will be very sad, but I am glad we can attend. I will take you all with me, in spirit. But if anyone else wants to be there, that would be nice.

Ciao, or Chow...or maybe I need to think about dinner....

Kathy....hooray for good news......nice way to end a hard week...

DS got the job at Whole Foods...he starts on Tuesday :)

Having Shabbat dinner with friends...sort of "pot luck".....at their house....gf has been wanting to have DH over for a while, but he kept saying no as she had major, major surgery the end of june and then had a emergency colonoscopy last week...fortunately test results were good...so when she called this morning DH said yes.....

Talked to Mom today...she is more stressed than ever...I think it is hard for her when her routine is disrupted....the house is HOT (87) and Dad is freezing!!!!   I sure hope that Mom can relax and enjoy herself on the cruise as right now she is just fried!!!

Went to lunch with a gf that I haven't seen in forever...we also walked first...was so nice to catch up......

Well, best get ready to light candles....DH should be home from synagogue soon...then w grab the food and walk across the street to friends....Have a good Friday night and Saturday...Hugs,,,Karen

Oh Kathy, I'm so relieved! So don't you go scaring us all either! I'm so sorry these last weeks have been so very hard on you. I'm so glad you will be able to make the service, it will be very sad but her family and friends will certainly appreciate it and you know there will be some wonderful and lovely stories too.

NM- Love the posts and all the stools and chairs! That location scout has some goofy bar stools at her house ( in the brouchure) they are the back ends of African animals... hmm why didn't I think of that... um Not!

Oh Gail, I adore roller coasters but not the ones that sling you around and hurt nor the ones that do odd tricks so you have to be belted in with neck braces and such - did one and my neck hurt for over a month later. But the old fashioned ones where you fly off the seat and lose your stomach... fun! The old roller coaster on Atlantic City's Steel Pier on the Boardwalk was fabulously thrilling expecially at night.

     Clair - congratulations!

DorK - sorry for not getting the fridge yet and I'm afraid I'm with Kathy - fridge in the back yard? Well, ummm ......no. You could put it in the garage that is acceptable or a shed or basement or better yet you could put it in your closet so close to the bedroom or you could be like my sister and put one in the Master Bath... Yes she really does???

Lori- Very glad you are alright and know the loss of Junie has been very difficult for you as well. And I know you all can't come and be here in real life on my birthday but I know it is ONLY because it is short notice. So sometime we will just have figure things out... I mean really life is short and you just never know - we all really might be able to swing getting together in person - stranger things have happened.

So, tonight my friend and her daughter brought in take out Thai food from my favorite resturant which was fun and really nice and we got to really talk and spend time together which was lovely. My kids who are really normal teenagers well... not sure but when ever I have any friends over they turn into ... well little kids! They act like everything is hilarious, interrupt stories people are going to tell, act like each other kids is their long lost best friend who they haven't seen in years and can't get enough of... They really are very polite well mannered kids but tonight they found absolute glee in locking each other in the basement.... ummm Huh? What on earth was that all about. So very odd. As soon as they left they all three quieted down and turned into civilized human beings. I've never seen them all do that and it isn't like they don't know my friend and her daughter she used to stay with me every three months and her daughter has been here all summer. Anyway, odd but really nice early birthday celebrations. The real day is on Sunday.

Which tomorrow my ex is picking up the kids and taking them to his house to cook something for my birthday which is very nice. And to give my son with Ds his first shave!!! ACK can't belive it. He has been slowly getting in a mustache and we decided before school we do need to do something. Well since he shaves his face I voted for him to be the first one to bring a noisy electric shaver toward his face and not me. My son, is very very sensitive about his head/face - still we cut his hair as he can't sit for a professional to cut his hair - it just freaks him out too much and brushing his teeth and washing his face and hair is still quite difficult. So hopefully he does alright with it...

    Happy Weekend to All.....

Holy the Cow.........so much easier to post to 1 page of comments than several! We did not make the movies, DH was still feeling too loopy and said he would have fallen asleep. And low and behold about 1 am, here comes stone #3. So we are back on the vico's and he is now sleeping.

Kathy, so glad all went well with your test and you know you can call me when ever you want. So glad you got to talk to Bob and are able to make it to the memorial. I haven't even sent my card yet, haven't even taken it out of the bag. I guess it's just a denial thing, I don't know.

NM, your yak adventure sounds so serene and I must say, I would not have been so kind to the deer fly and he would not have had a 2nd chance! And how can you not love those barstools!

DorK, I really don't do a whole lot on FB, I love it for seeing pictures from my family and friends tho. We got one of those little fridges for the Shady Lady, sorry you didn't get yours.

Karen, I know your DD is too young to drive, but should you tell her that if she scared driving with G'ma that she should ask G'ma to stop and she can get out and call someone, taxi, 911, I don't know, but that is scary. Might even be worth it if she drove!

BeanZ.........ROLLER COASTERS? I'M IN! I did one last year while at Dollywood. Was a little jerky, but still fun. I DON'T like the ones that go upside down, or the twisty loops either. And the suspended ones are fun too. Gail I too was one that raised my arms.

Stanzie, sorry your DS is affraid of things in his face, but it is so cute about the shaving story. He is only like 14, isn't he? Can he be let to do it himself, perhaps that would make it not so scary for him.

Kymn, have a great time at your party and glad the rads are not zapping your energy yet. For me, it would get me towards the end of the week, then I would re-coup over the weekend.

Grabbing a bar stool, one for my arse and one for each hand! Happy Sa turd ay!

Lori, I agree....it was very hard for me to send a card too, and I just did it yesterday. Just doesn't seem real. Bob sounded much better last night, although, of course, when he has to tell someone that doesn't know, that is extremely difficult. I got our hotel rooms and car rental lined up last night too. Yay! Did the car thru priceline, and got it first try, and it is Avis. Sometimes that works out. Didn't do the hotel that way, as even their 4 star properties would not have been good, as some charged thru the teeth for parking. Wish you could be there too!!!! I mentioned to Bob that a couple others might be in KC that weekend (Christinek, and CasinoGirl), and he said he would love to have anyone come that wanted to. The more, the better. I also told him that a couple of gals have contributed to bc.org in her honor and he was very happy to hear that! SO if anyone wants to send flowers or donate, they would prefer donations to anything related to cancer.  I haven't yet decided what I will do, but if anyone wants to go in on some flowers also, it might be nice at the memorial. and could be from all of us here. I dunno.....just a thought. Since some have contributed to bc.org separately already, should we just do it that way? OR still go in together on a donation too????? My mind is still foggy, so just throwing ideas out there. Sorry your DH had another stone, Lori....yikes. Must be so painful! I have never had that, but have a lot of sympathy for him, as I have heard how horrid they can be. Good thing you didn't go to the movie!

Stanzie, Awwww how sweet that your ex will shave his sons stache. I hope he can feel ok to do it himself someday. Are the regular razors too dangerous? They would be quiet, at least, but I guess you could still get cut with them. And nice he is taking the kids, and they will cook for you today. I remember you said what a good cook he is. BUT you are too!!!! Hoping tomorrow will be super! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, early to a dear friend, and a breast freind!!!

Kymn, hope the rads went well. How often will you have them? I am totally in the dark about rads and chemo.

My mom's phone isn't working right so we can't call her, but she can call out. They can't get to it till tomorrow (although we reported it yesterday), I guess cause of all the damage our area had the other day, and thousands were without power too.

Thinking of ALL of you gals.....just seem to comment mostly on the most recent posts, as I try to remember EVERYTHING, but that doesn't work....lol. Wishing you all a good Sat-turd-dey. If anyone feels like having a big party to celebrate all the birthdays (belated and current), I will leave the planning to you. Just not up to that yet, but I will come, if someone takes the reins. Still very sad, but trying to go thru the motions. Hoping for a nice day for everyone!

    Hugs, Kathy

Sorry Kathy.  Can only imagine how hard it is for you right now.

I don't even try to reply to everyone.....

I was happy for an early night last night, and slept really soundly.  What a week!!  Unfortunately, it is cloudy here so the Blue Angels will most likely be flying a lower program.  Not able to view the Northern Lights either.  BUMMER!!!

Hoping the sun spot activity stops affecting life on earth.

I am planning my adventure for next weekend.  Cycling club is doing a tour of Birch Bay which is cycling through flat gorgeous country, just this side of the Canadian border.  Only 50 miles from Vancouver.  We will do about 40 miles each day, so great exercise.  I am staying in a dorm room at the hostel so about $30 for the night.  A real bed!!!

Will also take my swimsuit as the water is supposed to be relatively warm.  So I can get the boast of having swum in the Puget Sound without freezing my tail off.

Why I so love living here.

Need to figure out what to wear today as think my regular summer cycling jersey may not be warm enough.  Perhaps with just my wind breaker as temps are in the low 60s.  I wore my summer clothes on Thursday, but not since.  (Usually, this is the hot week here.)

Would love to send everyone some cool temps.  Other reason I love living here as always have hated hot weatheonr.

I keep thinking of Junie and have to say, I am so glad the end was peaceful.  I have seen otherwise, and just so terrible.  She was also much more ill than she let on that last month.

A lesson to all of us in continuing to love life even when the going gets tough.  I miss her. - Claire

Happy Sa-turd-day to one and all!

I just had the great priveledge of signing Junie's guest book online. I think it would be cool if all of us can sign her book.  I found the website, it was tough to find but I was determined. I do not think I should share the link here but PM me and I will be happy to send it along to anyone who wishes to sign her guest book. I woke up with her in my thoughts today and feel a sadness in my heart. I enjoyed reading the entries that are already there, she was surely known for her awesome sense of humor.  I also revisted the PM's she had sent me and will cherish them forever. We will never forget her.  Toasting the heavens to our own Junie! RIP my dear friend. CheerZ from below....

Looks like several posts from people she worked with, years ago. So you did see her obituary, right? It was just there Thurs, Fri (when I found out from Bob about it), and will be there Sunday.  So you might not have been able to see it today. You are so right when you said "We will never forget her"! Joining you in  a toast to our dear Junie......*clink*
