Thanks, Claire. I've been trying to remind him of the wonderful things in our life together - not the least of which is 2 beautiful daughters of whom we are very proud. Since we are celebrating our 20th anniversary I put the albums from our first years together on the coffee table. Our friends have been enjoying them too and reminding us of all the funt times we've had over the years. Everyone remembers us as the couple with the wonderful, loving relationship. I think this is what made him start talking. We will be spending several days in San Francisco when DD1 moves there next week (DD2 will be staying home with friends). Altough there will be some parent/family events, we are looking forward to having some quality time just to ourselves. I think it is poetic that we spent our first anniversary there and now, 20 years later, we are starting a new phase as we move our daughter to college. I'll be sure to take along something smoking!

Glad I could help Gail.  Smokin' outfit includes perfume.

On a practical note DorK, make sure that your electric company isn't offering incentives to replace your "vintage" fridge.  Puget Sound Energy is offering all sorts of incentives here, as is Seattle City Light.

Would be worth looking into. - Claire

Good idea Claire to mentin possible incentives/energy rebates on DorK's new fridge. We did that with new a/c units, as well as the fridge. But I totally forgot about that!

Stanzie... REALLY???? Bug catcher for anniversary??? And huge lampshade w/ no lamp?? OMG  I think you could win the award for the strangest gifts ever!!! Glad you are keeping a sense of humor about it all.

Tired now....went over and sewed on my sofa pillow (recovering all loose cushions then will tackle the few upholstered areas, as most is rattan), just to get my mom motivated to get back to her painting. She was so frustrated....now you all might get a kick about this....I actually dangled the idea of going to the likker store to get some scotch for her IF she painted the clouds...LOL. It worked, although there was a lot of "whine"ing as opposed to wine, which we should have had! So after errands, shopping, etc. the last stop was the likker store. Yup, she was smiling then!!! LOL. Just home for a little while, then gotta get ready for the stained glass class tonight. I hope the class goes as well as it did last week! I will have a very late pau hana tonight....around 9:30....maybe I will catch you west coast gals during your happy hour!

    ChEARS dears,

Stanzie-Claire has a good point about packing just a carry on. I once packed for a week in Hawaii in a carryon. There's a great website for packing this way at

    http://www.onebag.com/about.html

Wahine-the bump you gave me pushed me right into the pool and cooled me right off! Spent the rest of the day napping in the pool! Thanks!

Goldie-The Board member who answered me said the doc had re-arranged his schedule once (for the meeting that I was never told about until the night before) so it is apparently my fault he's been inconvenienced. They've got me really ticked off now, and I plan to make sure EVERYONE knows it!

AStorm-keep in mind that I am in a very, very snarky state of mind right now and not likely to cut anyone any slack if they act like jerks. While I can understand that your hubby has had a lot of losses, and he can be afraid of another one, but maybe he should talk to someone rather than cut himself off from you and everyone else. Losses will keep happening, he needs to learn that. Oh, boy, I'm being very unforgiving today. Ignore me.

Goldie-it's easy enough to overlook a year in a situation that is as emotional as Junie's death. Forgive yourself and move on. Love the cartoons, BTW! Claire's idea is a very good one-try it!

DorK-in addititon to electricity incentives don't forget to check out tax incentives for more energy efficient applainces, too! I forgot and missed out on $50 tax rebate for my new fridge.

    Hi drinkng buds~

I posted on Junie's Guestbook.  In fact, I didn't think the first one "took", so I posted a second time and of course they both posted, so who's the bumbling idiot now, Lori? Smile

I hear a Bud Light calling my name.  It's getting pretty loud, so better go tend to it.

    Cheers,

Summer vacation is coming to an end tonight.....My school year starts tomorrow...fortunately, this is only a one day work week....Next week, my regular 3 day work/week (M,T,W)...if you ask me, school starts way too early in Colorado....the kids in my district start on the 18th...some schools have already started.....yes, we get done early, but I still rather be on the schedule like back east...start after labor day and get out mid june...but heck, I don't get paid the big bucks to make decisions...

Donna....I"ll join the party later with a glass red wine!!!!

Karen, School starts even earlier here! The teachers started last week and the kids started on Monday the 8th. Waaaaay too early, if you ask me! Joining you for some wine! Since I am just now having Happy Hour! My stained glass class is going well, but 3 hrs on your feet...well,...! Have all my glass cut and edges ground, and cut the zinc frame tonight as well as started cutting the lead...some pcs have to have slanted, or pointed ends, so it takes awhile. Next week will finish getting the lead cut and fit, then solder.

Donna, I love you picture.....you are so beautiful! Sorry it took us losing Junie, to have you back in the drinking thread, but I am glad you are joining us again! I see that Pants fixed you a bucket of Dog Beers, in Bud Lites....you know dog beers are like SEVEN regular beers! Junie sure loved her ML dog beers!

    ChEARS!

CasinoGirl-You're not the only one whose posted twice thinking the first one didn't take, I've done that many, many times. Embarrassing when it does happen, though.

Karen-Happy back to school day! Maybe you should let the Tenders pack you a lunch, I hear that the water bottle contents only LOOKS like water, and regular sips keep you very happy during the day. . .

Wahine-Wow, school really starts early where you are! Amazing the differences in different parts of the country. Your schools must have air conditioning? None of the schools around here do. Heating the building is enough of a cost for the towns here.

Can I have a taste of shiraz and moscato? Or have you ladies drunk it all up?

    Have a good day, all!

Good morning Loungettes and Happy Humpity-dey for real this time!

I do not think I visited the lounge yesterday, I was doing alot of house work and am paying for it today. I banned myself from the internet for most of the day.

Nice seeing more posts on Junie's guest book. And Casino girl, I say better twice than not at all.

Lori, I am glad that her book will be online for a year.  I also thought that it would come down any day as I did not catch the 2012 part and I think Wahine thought the same thing so do not feel stupid. Loved your pics though. I send the Dr. Biden photo to my DH and he posted it on his facebook page. Funny stuff!  Good to hear that the Shady Lady is coming along.

Kathy, glad you enjoyed your class, will try to have happy hour this evening at a decent hour.

NM, did you drink the DOTD, I did not see it, me tinks you drank it up and it nessappeared! I hope you are feeling more calm today.  And hey, just let me know where to send my people and to whom.  Me tinks they should start with the doctor that caused all this.

Karen, happy first day of school. I hope it goes well.  Here is a toast to a great school year.

We do not start school here until after Labor Day but my DD goes back to college at the end of this month. Our schools do have AC otherwise, the kids could not tolerate going to school thoruogh  Mid June.

If anyone else wants to link to Junie's guest book, please PM me and I will get it to you. I am so happy to see more entries from us ladies, I was hoping we would blow up her book with loving posts. I liked what Lori wrote about the angels laughing.

An update on that Pratt brat, he is still with me. Geez, I have had this blasted drain for three weeks today and am sick of it. Otherwise, I am feeling pretty good. I spoke to my disability coordinator yesterday and she is sending new forms to my doctor. I am hoping that the doc leaves the date blank and let's me pick my return to work date as I did last time. That way I could hang with Chrissy and not have to work when she arrives.  I can only hope. I do have to get back to work as this no commission thing is making my paychecks very teeny tiny.

Girls, I got the bestest news this week, well actually I found this on my own in surfing through my Cigna healthcare page but found out that I have a max out of pocket of 10k. This means that if I am able to have my exchange surgery this year, it will be a freebie.  Well nothing is really free but I was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief.  I was expecting to have to pay so much more for this past surgery, yippie, drinks on me, rounds for all!! Cheers!!!

Darn, I had more to say but can't read back due to a new page.......to those gals I missed, Kymn, Kristy, Astorm, Stanzie, Claire, hoping you all stop in and have a drink on me.  Have a fan-freakin-tasktick dey!!!!!  Cheers and tiddy up!!

Hey, DorK, that's great! Congratulations on your cap.

a cap is always good in the morning

Sorry bout the bratt though. I'm a juicy one too -- always seem to have those longer than expected.  Wish it was "Prat" instead, though I just like a little tiny bit of that in a dry martini..

Maybe we shouldn't give NM wine in the morning as she seems to have forgotten the DOTD.:(

Oh well, we can work on those martinis until she remembers...

    Calling all Leo girls:

As Saturn and Mars harmonize in the Heavens, your chickens may be coming home to roost. If you've been over indulging, if you've burnt the candle at both ends, if you've pushed too hard or too far it will soon be time to pay the Piper. Don't deplete yourself or your resources by going further down a narrow track. Sit back and deal with the consequences of your actions so far.

Ok, ok I admit it... yesterday I realized there were far too many chickens in my house. It was supposed to be kitch but after awhile you stop noticing them and well... there were the burnt out candles too... and I've listened to far too much Pandora without paying for it. So I removed most of the chickens and replaced the candles but I just couldn't avoid the kitchiness of a garden angel like the one DDs used to decorate with flower blossoms. Come to think of it, we got rid of the crumbling angel just as all the problems started... now there is a new one by the spa and no one knows about her but me (shhhh!). Here is one for the pool ... some of my sisters are in need of a guardian:

Yesterday I stopped at a local junk/antweek store and bought a tray that caught my eye. It was $50 but it is so pretty. It is painted glass with some gold metalic and bright mossy greens and some red trees on a pond that remind me of the pond on our property near Lake Michigan where I grew up. I did a search online and found another one of this artist's pieces:

but mine is way prettier... and this one is listed for £149.00 which I think is over $200 so I shouldn't feel bad about paying 50. I hung it over a door and it is too high and doesn't get enough light to show off it's radiance. My artist daughter said it looks like it belongs in a steak house... LOL  Told her it was art deco and probably French and it is going to hang in the dining room until she finishes the painting she started for me las year. Trying to find a camera so I can show you a picture... then I'll go to work.

thanks Gail for bringing the guardian angel to the pool. as for free Pandora, I always use the 40 free minutes in the first days of the month so I pay the .99 for a month of free listening. I love Pandora, one of my coworkers turned me onto it. I also have it hooked up to my PC in my cave with outdoor speakers. I do not have an ipod but it is on my wish list. I am just soooo slow with technology and it frustrates me.

I will join you for a martini, shaken, not stirred Cool

Ohhhh great addition, Gail....LOVE that we now have our very own Guardian Angel (although I think Junie is our guardian angel too).....by the pool....perfect!  What a gorgeous piece of artwork, would love the see a pic of the actual one that you bought! Where did you grow up near Lake Michigan? I lived near the lake for 4 yrs when my babies were born.

DorK, Okay girlfriend, now you are blaming me for something I did not do....LOL! My memory, etc is bad enough on its own! No, I knew the online guestbook was going to be up for a year, but it is the obit that Bob paid for, and was only going to be until last Sunday. No worries though,  I am sure I will mess up on something soon, so can use my "free pass" for that...lol. Oh girl, you did TOO much work yesterday!!! Sorry you are hurting today. AND sorry that the darn Pratt boy is still with you. You must have made him tooooo comfortable. Hoping you can still be off of work till after Chrissy's visit. Will be so nice to have all that time together! Take care, and puleez take it easy today. Okay??

Trying to get ready for a trip tomorrow, so playing ketchup with laundry, etc. Might have to go and do some of my work (sewing) at my mom's, so I can keep her motivated on her painting. She used to love it so much and was SO good, really did expert work, and gave most of them away. I am grateful to have some of her paintings and treasure them. But now it is hard for her to remember how she did it, although she is still much better than I could ever do. Hoping she doesn't get TOOO discouraged! In Tunica, I will put some $ in the dollar machines, as I asked Bob which ones Junie liked the most. Sure wish she could have had another trip there, as she loved it so much, and hadn't been there since last summer or fall.

Have a Great Hump Day, Chicas!

I was born in St. Joseph, Mi.

We didn't live on the water... we had a place with an old farm house and huge garden. Sadly, my father leased the property behind our house to a feed company and I think they were growing genetically modified corn right by our house (the seed was day-glo pink) and we used to play in that field. There was also a pond on the property with lots of frogs.

Hi Ladies just opened my pilsner. Early I know but I'm hoping if I drink a couple I can take a nap. I only got 4 hrs sleep last night. i started my Xeloda yesterday and hope it works. My BF left yesterday to go back to NY and I have the house to myself although my daughter and grandson may come over later to can some tomatoes. My onc said that we should know in a week if this is working. If it does work my pain should subside by then. Hope you guys are having a great day. It is beautiful out here in the low 80's but I don't hae the gumption to go outside and work.

Gail, I just love your new find!  That is beautiful and you are right, much prettier than the one you posted earlier. I hope you find a perfect place to show it off. And your tile work is just beautiful. I have the same type of vestible at the entrance to my home and you are giving me ideas! I have indoor/outdoor carpet there now and never thought about putting tile there but yours is so pretty.  And you did this yourself?? VERY impressive.  I love your door too. And hell yeah, I will have another tini with ya!

Hey Kymn, good to see you girl. Hope you can stop by for happy hour. Sorry your boobie is feeling burnt, do talk to our Beanie for advise with remedies for the burn. I feel for you.

LJ, you look waaay too young to be a grandma, you go girl. I hope the Xoelda (sp?) works for you. Come back more often, would love to get to know ya more.

And so sorry RW, I thought we had a conversation about the guest book but I guess you must have been referring to the obit. Oops, did I say sorry, take that back, I am disappointed for making a false accusation lol.  I would love to see some of your Mom's artwork. I admire artist's as I have zero talent in that area. Music yes, art, hell no! I hope you are able to enjoy these final days with your Mom. I love the relationship you have with her, so beautiful to hear you talk about her, truly warms my heart.

Where is Beanie and Lori?? You gals better check in and let us know you are all okay. Well I must go, still doing some housework but will later reward myself with some outdoor time as we are also having a glorious 80 degree day!!

I lift my glass and toast to Gail's new treasure, CheerS!
