Hi girls!! Just realized it has been a month since I posted. Spent an hour last night getting caught up on y'all and the other thread or two I usually follow. No excuses, except just lots going on. Most of it good!

I had my first post treatment follow-up mammogram on Thursday. I am 22 weeks PFC (wow-had to go back and count!) and 10 weeks post-rads. I was not worried about mammo...until that day and then I was a wreck. Had mammo at 11:00am and follow-up with surgeon at 1pm. DH went with, and DD2 (nursing student) met us for lunch. She asked me how I felt and I teared up and said I felt like I just took a big test and thought I did well, but then started second-guessing all the answers. You know? Like you just blew it? But surgeon showed me the films, very clear and vivid, and not a speck on the screen except scar tissue around lumpectomy. Whew! All good. Both sides. Next one in a year-like normal people! Hmmm...normal? Ha! I still am suposed to see him every 4 months for two years; RO every 3 months for two years, and MO every 3 months for two years. Really, docs? All you are doing is looking and touching. Couldn't we coordinate a bit here? Surgeon is semi-willing to back off (but not totally) as long as someone is seeing me every 3-4 months, but doesn't agree with an alternating schedule. RO says that his protocol according to national guidelines are every 3 months; MO the same. Only one I agree with is the MO. I was on a clinical trial and it is imperative from that perspective to be seen and followed. I was originally prepared to drop the RO, but now thinking it will probably be the surgeon. But still waffling. Surgeon is the medical director of the Breast Center in Omaha. That's all he does is breasts-LOL I am getting my port removed next Friday in out-patient surgery. Will be sooo glad to be rid of that reminder.

My main issue is fatigue probably, and still more weepy than I used to be, although I have always been moved to tears easily. Have been on Cymbalta since June and trying to wean off that. Did it once but got so dizzy and such headaches. Tried again more gradually and thought I was okay, but having headaches again today. SIGH. But am going to tough this out. I think I can tolerate the headaches for a few days if they don't get any worse. More sleep would help too!

My hair is over an inch long probably and curly and blonde/gray. Looks "frosted", a term my mother used to use. HA! Am getting my first hair cut and color (highlights?) on Wednesday. Have been going topless quite awhile. Other than a few random comments, most have been oblivious to shortness. Will probably keep it short for now. Can't do a thing with curls, even with gel, so hoping a trim will get them under control.

Welcome to any newbies and  raising a glass of Bailey's Chocolate Mint to my loungette buddies! Sure wish my Nebraska Huskers would get it in gear and get this game against Northwestern under control! I'm usually at the home games but let my DD and SIL go today. Obviously they are not cheering loudly enough. Still time to turn things around, so Go Big Red!

Hi Kristy, nice to see you. My people have been inquiring about ya. I say go ahead and ditch one of your team of docs! I ditched my BS...I have no breasts yet he still wanted to see me, hello??? So happy to hear your good news!

Have a good night, lovies. Thinking about you Jaybird!

Morning loungettes! Sorry I never made it to my bar stool yesterday, it was just too nice to be inside. All errands accomplished, nice lunch with sis, etc. Then came home and pooped out early!

Jaybird, continued prayers and hugs on Nicki's passing.

Kristy, I made a deal with my onc that I would see someone every quarter, onc, ob-Gyn, BS, PCP for the next year. Recalibrate every year. I kind of agree with DorK, though, the BS is kind of what's the point, ya already took em away! Will see next year. Plus, will have to check in with the onc once the oopherectomy gets set, will likely switch from tamox to aomitase...

But it's gonna be nice again, all my to dos got done! Jock, a bloody to get the day rolling? Mrs_Vino and DorK, hope you are both resting and healing, but if you happen to wander into the HTL, think I might be hanging for a bit! Cheers!

Bernie, so sorry to hear you could get hurt like that on top of the treatments. Hope you are getting some relief. The end is in sight!

NM, hope your weekend is going smoothly, at least no snow I hope?!

Lori, know you will be busy at the trade show, hope all's well.

Kathy, guessing you are on Irish soil by now, hope the journey has been easy and you can enjoy it! Will hope you can post now and then.

    Hellooooo? Anyone in de Lounge?

Cheers, Beers, and Hoping Nobody Hears!

Hi again, No DorK, did not get to rest yet. HOPE to sleep well tonight. OK, this is funny. The guy we met in the pub and talked to the whole time, ended up in our hotel bar tonight! He did not know where we were staying. But imagine our surprise to walk in the bar in our hotel(orientation for our tour) and see people we knew (him and the bartender from the other pub)!! But this time HE was drinking the Bulmer's CIder (draught) and I had Smithwick's. So, we hugged, which surprised the others on our tour. LOL Plus there is a couple on our tour (of 33) that lives in our city! Go figure.Had some amazing fish and  chips tonight. Going to write to Bernie, and sure hope we get to meet up tomorrow!! Everyone has been real friendly here. Missing you girlzzzz, and still haven't read back, as I only have so much battery on this netbook. HOPE all you are doing well, and dwinking lots of good yummy stuff. I will do my part, on this end, with the Smithwicks, and Bulmers (will leave the Guinness to my DH).

Haven't had a cocktail in four days due to surgery, but DH just finished up some Blackberry bourbon, so gonna have a lil bit of that; poison check, we'll call it! Cheers!

Scuby, you don't think I can dwive and type at the same time on my laptop? Well, why not?

Beanie Baby, Luv the chicken in!

NM, me tinks you will need us to be slipping you sumin BEFORE they get the IV going! Well, how does Ms Sadie like her new spot?

Oh Bernie, you poor poor dear. What are they doing to help you with that wound care? Thank goodness it's almost healed. I had to do wound care too, as I had 3rd degree burns as well. But I will say, that currently (3 years later) there are no signs of that burning.

ScubZ, no working out/exercising at The HTL pa-leeeeZe! Dis is a drinking establishment :P

Jaybird, if you're out there..................I did not know Nicki, but my heart goes out to you and her family and friends. I'm so sorry friend. Too many deaths around here lately!

DorKy, you mentioned your 4 legged grand baby....how is Lana doing?

Husker, a  big ole congrats on NED! But wowsers, you caught up on a month of posts in just an hour? Holy the Cow, it takes me that long for just one day! Glad you are on to more important things and getting a life!

Kymn , so good to see you keep coming back to us. It is evident that this is hard on you, but we are all proud of you. You keep that pretty lil princess head held high girl.

Ha ha ha Grdnslve , how cute is that? I love it! Good to see you.

DorK, I would rake ALL of your leaves if I was closer. I kind of miss it! And we don't have trees here. Thanks for da DOTD. Anyone can do those. I was doing them for awhile, and got busy or had to go away, and I assigned everyone a day......lol. They were in charge of coming up with our DOTD. Then somehow NM started posting them. So it's not really her job, but she is the sweetheart to come up with the most of them. My goodness, and remember when she came up with them in advance, when she went to Vegas. The girl rocks, but don't tell her I said that, we don't want her head to get too big.

Kathy, sure glad you made it safe, and have friends to join you. Also hoping you will get to meet up with Bernie.

MrsV, so glad you are doing so well. How was the bourbon?

Well, we are done the grandkids, done with the show and staying just outside of San Diego tonight. Going to visit the Yuma Territorial Prison tomorrow and then hit Laughlin tomorrow night and home Tuesday. Missing you all, and glad to see I only had 1 page to catch up on, since my last post.

Finally am able to join everyone.  Super busy weekend with tons of cycling and tons of work.  The part I sit down on is hurting big time as is used for both activities.

Some wine should help.  So should the leftover pot roast.  You are welcome to join me DorK.

Colors are beyond amazing, but frosty here.  Nearly fell off my bicycle more than once looking at the sun on the red/yellow/orange leaves.  Plus snow capped mountains in the distance.

Ride across Lake Washington on the I-90 floating bridge yesterday was absolutely spectacular.

Had to remark that I had to be in Seattle, as had coffee outside both days.  Temps were near 40, but warm since in the sun.  Doubt how many other Loungettes are convinced.

Just got out of a warm bath as body started to freeze up.....or all major muscle groups that is.  Wine helps with this one too.

Just LOVE this time of year. - Claire

I'm glad Kathy made it to Ireland okay. ;)

Having some French wine I brought back from Brussels. Have to get back there sometime soon as I only have 1 bottle left. :(

Thanks, everyone,  for thinking of me and of Nicki.

Gotta get to bed, am jetlagged and have to get up at 7am to get Avery off to bed. I promise to post some pics on Facebook as soon as I find the time to...

Ditto on Scubys good morning post! Have Dr. Appt. at 10:30, so just checking in. Really can't believe how easy this surgery was compared to double with TE's. Unbelievable difference! The key is to not be fooled into thinking you're better, or else you do too much, then back to the hospital (right Dork?). So all Halloween stuff still out, just gonna put red bows on everything and "Wah-Lah!" it's Christmas!

Hope y'all have a lovely day, extraspecially you Mrs. BeanZ!

Good morning, Loungettes! At least I think it's still morning. Out with a patient most of the evening, got home about 3 am. Got a bit of a nap, but I'm still tired for some reason. Pants, dear, can you bring me a LARGE beverage with caffeine in it?

Good morning, LORD, it's me again. Can I tell YOU something? I'm really, really sick and tired of hearing about women dying from breast cancer. I'm really, really sad and hurting for the friends and families of these women. I know that death is part of YOUR plan, but really, isn't enough enough already? Can YOU tell that I'm not on board with this part of YOUR plan? Ok, Ok, so I know I can't do anything about this situation, and I know that my little mortal mind isn't capable of understanding YOUR plan. But YOU really could drop me a hint. Just a little hint. Something to make this death by breast cancer stuff a little bit easier to bear. While YOU are thinking that request over, will YOU please be with Jaybird, comfort her and all of Nicki's friends and family? Could you spread a little of that peace and comfort to all the rest of us who are sad and hurting for Jaybird and from all the news of death recently? I'd really appreciate it if YOU would.

P.S. I am expecting a complete and detailed explanation of all this when I meet YOU in person . I hope YOU'LL be ready to answer a lot of questions! Or if YOU are going to be busy, tell my Dad the deal and he'll answer all my questions. He did that a lot when I was little, and I often wish Dad was still around to talk to.

Claire-glad Main Squeeze is doing well! That is good news. I'm up to walking 12 miles a week, so I beat you three! Hah! Not like that's any big accomplishment compared to all you do. I'm always amazed at how much you do!

Husker! So good to see you here! All the follow up scheduling is a pain in the anatomy, isn't it? It gets better when you get to the seeing everyone every 6 months. Hooray on getting the port out, it's like a graduation!

DorK-great DOTD selection! I'm missing too much not being able to drop in on the weekends! I'm going to have to try 2 or 3 a day to catch up with you all!

    oops, wrong dwinkies!

    Grdnsive-ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wahine-you've been there for just a few minutes and you're already getting chatted up by a guy????? I want to start traveling with YOU!

DorK-if it doesn't get dark until 5 pm where you live I'm jealous! Dark at 4 pm here, now. I HATE this time change crap. No real reason for it anymore, why can't we get rid of it?

Goldie-Sadie seems to like the new spot just fine. She's already opened up the door and let herself in a couple of times. And on surgery day I plan to take a double dose of Xanax before I leave home (it's about an hour drive so it will be kicking in good when I get there) and another one just before I get out of the car (that one should be kicking in just about needle poke time). I may even tell them that's what I'm going to do! But I think whatever you ladies slip me from the pocket will work even better! Hmm, why does my body get through the lounge door but my head is sticks????

    Jaybird-looking forward to the pics!

Kymn-isn't it great what you can find at a thrift store? I've found some really good stuff, too. Clothes, containers to organize my work supplies, baskets to organize my house with, lots of stuff. Retail therapy is GREAT!

Karen-Sounds like you had a great time in Columbus, so glad for you! Family get-togethers are fun at times.

Bernie-So good you and Kathy are connecting. I bet we'll hear you laughing and talking all the way "across the pond"!

Beanie-looking for funnies just for you! Don't forget the Fukitol dispenser over by the casino!

Mrs. Vino-I like your decorating ideas!

so glad to contribute a giggle.  saw in another post somewhere claire loves this time of year up here.  i on the otherhand cannot wait to get out of here & head for arizona.  no matter what we turn the thermostat to, dh asks me to hold his beverage to keep it cold.

to those grieving, my heart aches for you.

Hi all, Kathy found me.  what an amazing women, i could have spent all my time with her.  We only had an hour but now it feels like i've just met up with an old friend.. She had painted a beautiful picture for me.

The two men settled into each other as well, that was good because we almost forgot they were there.

Too little time, we'll have to meet again

    goooooodmorning! Wow, what a weekend!

I'm not going to try to catch up so pardon my ignorance... hope everyone is having a fabulous life!

First I'd like to thank Claire for her inspiration...  DH finally got my bike fixed and I bought a new helmet. I haven't been on a bicycle in 20+ years but now I know where the phrase "like riding a bike" comes from! It's old, and a mountain bike, technically, but all that means is that I can't pick it up and carry it around. I found a safe path out of the neighborhood without getting on the road (which really freaks me out since we have had several fatalities, one recently less than half a mile from my house)... can't stop riding!!! The weather was a little damp but I forgot how addictive cycling can be & find myself riding in the drizzle.

Picked up DD at the train station Friday evening... gave a dinner party Saturday (started ciopinno sauce before I got on the bike)... and friend talked me into joining her tennis class on Saturday mornings... went to a 60th bday party on Sunday afternoon... needed a nap but when DH offered to drive DD back to the train station I got a 2nd wind and went on a late afternoon ride.

Jury duty this week but haven't been called yet. Hope to get out of it this time as I need to work...  being self employed I don't get paid if I don't show up to the client's office.

BeanZ - sorry you had a poopy cah-cah day and hope all is better today? ...

Sorry I've been neglecting my drinkin buds... DD made a comment... "wow, Mom, you are so busy!" When DH vetoed my bday party I realized how much I enjoyed entertaining and how much I've missed it so I am inviting people over all the time and making time to meet friends for coffee several times a week. PLUS, with that damned new study (I know it's the proverbial elephant in the room ladies)

I've been trying to justify my wine intake by exercising more... isn't everything in life a trade-off? My theory is that since wine consumption may increase estrogen (and I am ER +) then I need to lose some fat off my can (which will lower estrogen) and everything will balance out. ... oh, did I mention my mother, who had bc, never drank? Not ever... not even a sip of champagne at my wedding... even though my dad's family is Euro and they drink like fish and serve wine & sugar water to kids.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi goils, Just popping in with a quick hello and to check to see if Kathy and Bernie got together. So happy they were able to meet!

I am working on my first goal with my arm PT and that is getting my contact lenses in my eyes. I have been putting it off. I have to run out and pick up a medicine cabinet. i am not looking forward to doing it alone but will be sure to get help.

Beanie, sorry you had such a dreadful weekend, hugz to you.

Gail, nice to see you. Glad you are enjoying your new bike.

NM, great post, you always do an awesome job. Glad to assist with the dwink making but no one does it as good as you do.

To the rest of you, hoping you are having a good monkey-dey. Love and hugs to all.

Well I have to fly, see you gals later. DorK

YAY Gail.  Dangerous curves ahead.  Seriously.  Glad I inspired you.

Now the bad news.  Your shape will change and you will ENJOY trying on clothes.  That leads to buying stuff.  I recommend starting with tights that have seat padding.  You will know what I mean very soon.

I love broody winter weather.  Especially since it usually means snow for skiing.

I am also glad for the drizzly weather today because it means that it's easier to WORK.  As in three hours of computer updates.  Plus getting off an invoice.  Small stuff, but felt good to send it out.

Back to work.....  But wanted to check in.  Will join the PAR-TAY later.

Contact lenses is a good goal DorK.  I was worried about that one when I had surgery, but fortunately never had any problems.  (Unlike the time I injured my shoulder skiing, or rather, falling on my back in the parking lot at the base of the mountain.)

Gail......not sure if my butt is any smaller from cycling.  It does have a better shape though.  One of the highlights of radiation was when I was out cycling, rounded a corner, and one of the guys in the car waiting at the light called out "nice butt".  That made my day.   - Claire
