Calling all TNs

I think that we tn's need to have a sign up list like some of the other threads have...maybe put your age, and also what treatment you have had or are now having.

What to do you think?

I can start: age 50, diagnosed at age 49 1/2, lumpectomy, 4 AC Dose dense (every two weeks) and 4 Taxol, Dose Dense every 2 weeks. 35 rads (including 7 boosts) mammogram every 6 months for 5 years (I think). see the onc every 3 months for 3 years, see the Bs every 6 months for 3 years (I think). see the rad onc 1 year after rads...probably won't see him any more after that...

I think this may be a good way to get all together...we can still have separate threads..but sometimes it would be nice to just go to one thread and have a cry or concern without worrying about not being on topic

Losing my hair was the hardest part for me too. I never noticed, until I had no hair, how many hair shampoo/products commercials there are on TV! I just wanted to throw something at the TV every time I saw one!

Good Morning Ladies

Lovelyface - re eyelashes. I have no eyebrows and all my eyelashes are gone except one which is hanging on for dear life. I just don't have the heart to pull that little one out who just wants to stay, so leaving it there.

Kathrynn - no mate, its me that will be away for the five weeks. I have to go up to what is known as The Lodge in Hamilton. Its really very nice. I will stay there from Monday to Friday and then home each weekend. My dear fellar will be at home in his cafe which is only five minutes away from home. Its just that I have never been away from him and will miss him so. If he wasn't starting the cafe he could have come up with me. They are just like motel suites with lovely large rooms and an ensuite and you go down to the dining room for you meals. A shuttle bus takes you to the hospital every day for your treatment (half hour) then brings you back and then you can do what you like for the rest of the time.

Painting - good to see you. Glad you found the time to drop in, in between painting. Hope your shows are going well.

Titan - are there many accidents in those traffic circles that you talk about. They look and sound like a nightmare.

Melissa119 - I too wondered if the chemo was working as apart from days 3-7 I felt great. So hopefully it is.

Jan69 - I'm 65. I'm not sure who is the oldest on this site as don't know everyones ages. But I would never have picked you for 70. You sound so young when you type (Does that make sense). You must have a young outlook. I choke up when I hear about little children having cancer. They bear it so bravely must better than I did. At least I have had 65 years, some of those little soles don't seem to have had much life at all.

Dormac - I lost my hair at the 2 week mark. Was a bit painful but its very nippy when I go out because the hats have little air holes in so your head can breath and the cold air goes through it. I'm looking forward to my hair coming back.

Jzzyi - can you not get fish and chips in Florida. Your 2nd treatment will go fine. Just you hang on in there.

Titan - what are Amish Buggies?

Borntosurvi - hang in there with your memories of your family they are priceless. Your little fellar "will we be on the road forever" sounds absolutely gorgeous. I just love children's little sayings they are so cute.

Fighter - sending "light" happy thoughts your way.

Kathrynn - what's Ron's Rum. Oh your poor mum. I feel sure nothing is worse than going to the dentist - you are completely at their mercy and I always hope they are having a good day lol. I twist my paper tissue around and around in my hand until its in shreds. Hope your mum is ok.

Karen - why do we "think" we can still spring out of a car and then find we can't anymore. I still think I am young enough to do lots of things until I try to do them. Flaming heck, your blood work is expensive.

For me losing our hair is so hard cos its the first ourward public showing that we have cancer - but then once I got used to it, and I have, it became an outward public showing that I am fighting and beating this disease - so take that cancer !

And if you notice on the link that Luv sent there are no traffic lights or no lines for each lane. Chaos at its best. Have to wonder why there are not so many accidents.

Kellycbk - sorry to hear that you had nausea so bad - I have to admit, that was the one SE I feared the most. Luckily, with TC, I didn't have it. My sister had it, as well as very bad mouth sores, and I know she considered stopping her chemo because of it until they gave her something that helped a bit.

Painting - glad you had the chance to pop in and say Hi! Good luck with your shows.

Jazzyj - happy anniversary!

Annie, So thoughtful of you to wish us Yanks a happy 4th. I taught English to foreigners for many years. They never caught the spirit of our unique holidays. I'm sorry, but you are the only NZer I know, so I don't have a clue what is unique to your country. Just keep telling me I sound young, that helps me more than anything the sod ever says. You haven't mentioned your hands and fingers lately (unless I missed it), how are you doing? As you can perhaps tell, I don't do much around home. I have time to "play computer" any time I choose. We are fairly isolated here in the mountains, so meeting friends for lunch is a special treat. Going into the "big city" is an event. I miss teaching horribly, but at my retirement, my husband, the sod, was having serious heart trouble. Then along came the triplets, and my grandma persona took over. Cherrio, or something like that. For those suffering from mouth sores, I found that brushing my teeth with todler or kid size toothbrush didn't irritate my gums. The bristles are softer.

after.). I was just sitting laughing to myself, how confused in the future a newbie with mouth sores would be when you told them to ask their doctor to prescribe "Ron's Rum". Then I got laughing even harder when I imagined the doctor's perplexed look when they got the request. Just teasing hun, just teasing. (HUG)

hair..is gone..shaved it off..what was left up there looked frazzled..and sooo stubborn about hanging on..so..I'll be going topless for the 4th...

sore mouth..1/2 teaspoon salt and soda in a pint of water..rinse and spit often..especilly after eating or drinking...I use the baby toothbrush and biotene toothpaste..and very gentle with the flossing..

mouth was a wee bit more raw this time than with 1st tx...

Jan69 - that dream left when I married a Chef..... Muffin top too. So hate the Baggie butt thing. I've never had a butt..... All from the waste up.

Cocker- we can get Fish & Chips in FL, but not like in England. Somehow the batter there stays crispy from one end of the fish to the other. Never had better. Funny story went I went in to a REAL Pub, the ceilings were so low that I had to be careful when walking around. I am 6' in my bare feet, so had to watch myself!

Tazzy - I really love what you wrote and plan to feel the same way very soon!

DorisMarie - We were shaving partners today (virtual). Free if the 'wait'......

So glad I listened to earlier advise (can't remember from who?) to buzz early. My hair just started falling out today in great mass, so after having a good cry, I made an appointment with a very kind gal who got me in right away. Soooo glad I saved myself the worry of the wait... I don't do that very well. I just can't believe the amount of hair just from this morning..... Like a Bear shedding in the spring. Is was unreal!

And lastly, 50% of the way through phase One now, A/C. After giving me 3 doses of port plunger, they finally got blood drawback and all was good from there! Hubby and I even went to Lobster Lady for dinner Beanie and all!

Okay, one more question tonight on a personal level. I just went to the ladies and expected Orange pee, but DID NOT expect to have hair in my panties!! Unless it fell from my head, I can only guess where it came from! So, challenges with the hair thing still loom in the future.... Normal or not, or to personal to talk about here?

oh man..i just got caught up from the last couple of pages...went from laughing to crying to laughing again...I love you ladies!

Hair..or lack of it..the only part I missed was on my head...didnt miss it anywhere else..I still have very little hair on my arms and very little on my legs...have to shave once in awhile..thats about it..and that's a good thing..and I like the Brazilian thing..nothing wrong with that either...

I remember the salon lady where I got my wig told me that I would wear my wig for only a short time...at first I thought she was nuts but i only wore it for 5 1/2 months...which really isn't very long in the scheme of things... I would wash the wig and put it outside on the table on the porch...we called it the "Popes" table ..if any of you are familar with the Bucca de Beppo restaurant...funny stuff

Cocker..Amish buggys are like carts with horses that carry Amish people..they are black....some of the Amish sect actually put lights on them which certainly helps to see them during the night and at dusk. some don't believe in any kind of lights which really freaks me out..

Oh talking about lemon juice and beer..just buy some of that summer shandy beer...I don't like beer alot but that is awesome!

Jan69 - I don't know why anyone needs to repair roads on the 4th July either. I'll go sort them out for you cause they must be the same people that repair our roads on any holidays etc I'm glad America have special days to celebrate, we have a couple of days here but not the same as yours. So "the Sod" is that what you call your dear fellar. I call mine that when I'm annoyed with him lol. The hands are no better at the moment. It's quite painful to type all day but I guess things could be worse.

Kathrynn - you didn't answer me so what is "Ron's Rum".

Tazzy - I'm also saving money on hair products. Haven't brought shampoo and conditioner for ages. Usually have heaps in the cupboard but only using a tiny bit of shampoo now cause if I use conditioner me hat falls off. Must make my bald head shiny lol.

Dormac - I thought the lone eyelash was so sweet to hang around not like the other lot lol.

Titan - Dormac put me right. I thought you meant you called the Amish people black, woops. I was going to say its a wonder they don't shout racist if you call them black like our Maori people here (they are brown skinned).

Gosh if they go on that roundabout circle with no lights on its a wonder they don't get hit up the bum. Those poor horses.

Re the shandy's. You can make them yourself instead of buying then. Its only half a glass of beer and half a glass of lemonade. Served chilled on a hot day they are delicious and thirst quenching. The old fellars favourite drink.

Karen - who said you looked 70. I'll get Chloe on to them lol.

Jazzi - this is quite confusing you know, Jazzi - Tazzy. As Tazzy says you gotta have beer in your fish batter. Makes it light and cripsy. Also when my daughter went to England she said you couldn't get pies like you can here, about the size of half a side plate, chicken, mince and cheese, steak and mushroom, potato top, oyster and a whole heap more in flaky pastry. So if anyone wants to get rich quick either go to America and make fish and chips or go to England and bake pies and show them what they should be like.

Re the hair loss situation, aint got none anywhere, except that one little eyelash, bless him for sticking around doesn't make me look so bare lol. Remember what happened to me ladies when I had no hair down south and I sat on the edge of my knickers on the loo seat. Nothing to direct the flow you see. Mind you if they had cleaned the loo (or if that was cleaning it was pretty poor) then I wouldn't have had to sit on the edge of them and get them wet. The Doc's at work won't letme forget that lol.

The old fellar is off to his Wednesday night bowls so I have been given the job of going on an auction for a coffee machine for the cafe. I wish he wouldn't do things like this. I haven't got the faintest idea about bloody coffee machines, not huge ones like that anyway, and will probably bid for something entirely different. I felt sorry for him you see cuse he said he would have to miss his bowls (sad face) so I put my hand up to help him and now wished I hadn't.

July 4th today. My favorite holiday. A family tradition to walk to the park where our community puts on a nice fireworks show. Of course, with DS and his family in Florida, now it is just DH and I. Sweet memories of pulling our little guy in the red wagon and bringing along his favorite snacks and a blanket. How fast they grow up.....sniffle, sniffle

Navy Mom..I hear you....we called our blanket "old yeller" because it is a huge yellow blanket that we always took with us....now since it is just the two of us also we take chairs...I miss those times too!

I am on book 3 of 50 shades. A friend said to me, "it gets good at chapter 5 and by chapter 10 you're wringing your panties out!!". So after that I HAD to read it.

Happy 4th to all of the American sisters. My brother lives in the US. We have 2 nephews and a niece in the US as well as SO many friends. I hope you have an amazing holiday surrounded by friends and family. Create memories that will last forever!!!!

As for the hair loss "down there"......I went into the shower and came out bald. Cheapest brazillian I ever had. The one chemo that I had, I was not feeling very well and my DH looked across and started to giggle. I said "What" and he said, "all these women are bald.....like down there". I had to giggle too.

Cocker - I will answer for Kathernn. Ron's Rum is a type of Majic Mouthwash that was mixed my my local Pharmacy who has no sense of humor by the way! His name is not Ron, she is a prude and ignored my stupid joke when asked if I should do shots or mix it with Coke! By the way, don't forget about the Mushy Peas... Yummy!

I read 50 Shades while recovering from surgery. Let's just say that I didn't feel any physical pain until I finished the last chapter of book 3! Wonder if Mr. Gray would hire on as a handy man?
