CHickaD my husband is just the opposite. If he lands on the couch he will nap. Granted he does work hard, works out everyday and only sleeps 6 hours so I think that's why he needs his naps. The only time I could nap during the day was after the BMX and during chemo Loopy

I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving. Headed out to my BIL's home in MI. Just made the marinated mushrooms last night. Will be making sweet potato hummus this week. Last year I also made roasted red pepper baba ghanoush but I think I was the only one who really liked it. I may still make it. If anyone is interested in the recipes I can share all but the marinated mushrooms one. That's mom's and she doesn't want me to give it out. (note that white button mushrooms have aromatase inhibitor qualities. And we know that sweet potatoes and eggplant are good for you too).

Also I had my final interview on Friday for a job with ACS. I should hear this week. This is my 5th time applying in 1.5 years. Granted I did get the 6 month temp gig but that ended last month. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

  • JK, I had Herceptin weekly in between my TCH every 3 weeks. Then when the chemo part was done I went to Herceptin every three weeks. I will have my LAST Herceptin next Monday, Dec 2! Can't believe it's already been a year. I pray the time goes fast for you as well.

    ChickaD,

So glad for you that you have your dh home, but I know exactly what you mean about getting him to rest - mines just the same!

Iago - my fingers are crossed for you for the job, and I'd love to have your recipes!

Steiner - congrats on the end of herceptin! I love hearing stories of ladies reaching the end of active treatment 😊

steiner - Hi!!! Good to see you! Yay on the last H!

lago - your post jolted me into the realization that Thanksgiving is in 4 days! I get my stitches out on Wed. afternoon, so I can't lift the turkey. I have not even shopped yet - I feel like I am asleep at the wheel!

chickad - is there disab available to your DH?

My DH is a weird combo of always needing something to do but if he becomes horizontal he is asleep in a hot second. He and the dog are quite similar......

chickad - understand! Hopefully since this was a work-related injury he will be taken care of - but there is time to sort that out, right now the focus is him, of course! And you too!

Ashla I think they know I'm committed to the cause with all my volunteer work and money raised. I have one page of volunteer work alone that is all dedicated to cancer volunteering. But if I ever do, I think I'm going to create a facebook page specifically so I can get my BC.org hommies support ;)

Dana, my prayers for you and your family. Remember, things do have a way of working out. And I can totally relate to the eye phobia part. I've seen every human organ there is in my training, and I am not in the least bit squeamish until you show me an eyeball. Then I could just barf. So your puking makes perfect sense to me. In Anatomy 101, I had to take my lab partner out for lunch for a week so she would do the dissection of the cow's eyeball. I was over by the sink trying not to retch.

Kathec and Steiner, I'm finishing with youse guys. My last Herceptin is on Dec. 10th. Woot! And JK, I had herceptin every week, but that was because I did weekly taxol for 12 weeks. They started me on the TCH every 3 weeks, but I landed in the hospital. I think the "C" didn't agree with me. I was a sick little puppy.

Lago, your food sounds delish! Good luck with the interview process. Fingers crossed to the South of you ;-) And I agree, you have a couple a hundred references on here!

Vivian, you crack me up! I always saw Cami's name as Cami Illegal and wondered what she'd been up to.

I need a husband. One that never rests....does things like changes light bulbs, water filters in the fridge.. and cleans out leaf-filled gardens...anyone want to lend me yours? ;-)

  • PBrain- I really don't want a husband, however I often think how nice it would be if I could rent a husband to do the stuff my late husband use to do,now I do it myself when possible or to pay someone do it. If I could rent a husband for a day once a month how great that would be.. lol

I remembered seeing something about it a couple years ago, and I saw a Rent-a-Husband truck one time. I just googled Rent a husband to find the link. It's a great concept!

  • Dana-wish I were closer. I can do eyes easily. Show me nasty feet and gross old toe nails and I am vomiting almost on the spot. My students used to think it funny to show me disgusting feet. Snotty little toads. I would so help with the eyes though.

I saw it as Cami Illegal also-and was one of the reasons I stayed on the thread. Thought what a hoot these women are. BC and really fun!

I have had 2 husbands that spent their free time in other women's beds. Wasn't me-thank goodness as I was having a bit of a complex-as they have both continued their practice of forgetting to quit dating after marriage. I can pay someone to do my yard. I need to Rent a Wife. Someone to pick up the cleaning, go to the store, tend to bills and laundry and ironing and all the things I need to do when I am not at work. Which is most of the time. That wife, P, can change light bulbs, tend to the refrig, and the garden.

Occasional male company? My first choice this year is a pirate. Currently taking applications :)

  • Bren- I was joking about Rent A Husband. I had no idea that there was such a thing as Rent A Husband. Thanks for the info. I just googled Rent A Husband and found one in my area listed as Rent A Husband Handyman I am going to make a list and give them a call. This is too funny.. You wonderful gals are a wealth of information. ..

Har! Yins are cracking me up! I love the Rent-a-Husband blurb "visits the female homeowner and fixes what is driving her nuts!" For me, it is the garage opener light. It turns itself on and off at will. Light bulbs last for a month...arghhhh!!

My husband just bought light bulbs and replaced the burnt out one.

  • Light bulbs. My task for the day. Could not believe the cost! But-did not do closets or drawers of get on the treadmill. But there is light where there was once dusk.

Just googled Rent A Wife. Also available. In large areas. Nice.
