Oh too bad we just stopped Pirate Fest in Port. We used to get 50,000 pirates every year! It wascfun. But the city wouldn't support it said it cost to much for police.... so sad no Arrrggghhh at all..... bummer.
My DH just in clogged the gutters for me last week. This week he's hunting. Very quiet weekend! LOL0 -
Special-why is there a gathering of Pirates in Tampa? A group I have always found fascinating. Since the #%$^$ husband now of the ex variety walked out the day my port was placed I have said am looking for a Pirate---for my port.
And Pirates in Port Washington?
Something about an eye patch and a sword. And, of course, Johnny Depp in full costume!0 -
susan. Yep. You can probably still see it on the Web Google pirate fest in Port washington. Not to mention. Our High School team is the Port Pirates. That why I thought the fest worked here.0 -
Tampa is all about pirates for some reason, even our football team is the Buccaneer's - but we have the Gasparilla Pirate Festival every year, there is a flotilla, and a big parade that is reminiscent of Mardi Gras - here is a link to the info:0 -
Special K-we will be in ft. Myers January 11-18 so we will just miss it.
Chickadee-prayers and healing energy for your husband being sent your way. So glad he will ultimately be ok. And you are not alone in the medicating others part. I'm the same way. After a major gastric bleed, they put my husband on a monthly b12 shot. Told me they would show me how to do it. Easy peasy. Seriously, no way. Almost heaved just thinking about it. I have 4 SIL and a close friend who are all nurses. They immediately stepped I. To do that, thank heavens.
Just read an update on Amy Robach. She notes she is going back to work on Dec. 2 after a bmx last week? Sheesh, I couldn't even lift anything heavier than a can of coke for six weeks per doctors orders. I can't image rolling back to work after barely three weeks.0 -
Fluffqueen I went on the bus during rush hour 2 or 3 weeks after my BMX to do a freelance gig for my old boss. I finally got a seat on the bus. Having nodes removed on both sides… if the bus stopped short I would have been in big trouble because I couldn't support my weight. Took the bus home and completed only because he didn't have the correct software and I did at home. You would be amazed at what you can do… and remember she plans on going back. She isn't back yet and she might only work part time.0 -
I'm not saying I didn't feel like I could have gone back to work. And probably full time. I'm just saying that going back too quickly just begs for a problem to occur medically. I think you just tend to do more than you should.
Glad the bus didnt stop quickly. That would have been waaay painful.0 -
My BS told me a friend of his that he performed a BMX… beat him at tennis 3 weeks post. He also noted that he was not a very good tennis player.

Important to note that Amy Robach will also have hair/makeup/wardrobe assistance so she may look better than she actually feels.0 -
Re: Amy Robach Not aware of her Her2 status but I did read that she has a positive lymph node, therefore I suspect she will have chemo and possible radiation?0 -
yeah. No way was I ready to go back to work at 3 weeks. But like you all said she'll have a driver, hair, makeup, and probably just have to do the program and not much else. I went to a Christmas party for work at three weeks but I left very early. I wish her luck and really would like to know more. Like what kind if tx, if she's her2+ etc. Inquiring minds want to know.... LOL0 -
I went to work a week after my first MX. Took it sort of slow the next couple weeks. Day 29 incision opened. Was not infected. Feel it was a slap on the side of the head to slow down. Still had a drain.
Second MX stayed out a bit longer. Had 2 drains and was exhausted. Pain pump ball ran out a day earlier. I was grippy at best.0 -

John Eye UpdateAt today's visit to the Clinic we learned that John has a small leak in the eye that his iris tried to plug. Also the doctor did not like that the chamber has flattened outbe repaired. So what that all means is that on Wednesday if the chamber has not expanded, John will undergo surgery again that day in attempts to continue to save the eye, fix the iris and repair the leak. Also today the doctor put in a contact lense for extra protection and to try and stop the leak. Needless to say John's visit created much more pain...when we got home he rested all day!
Even though John does not want me to do this, I will probably delay our trip to Florida until John can travel with me and my mom. John wants me to go as planned for my Treatment-Free Vacation, but it just feels wrong.
I have chemo tomorrow and John promises me that he will stay put and still all day....I surely hope so! I'm thinking maybe a leash long enough to get to the bathroom....lol

ChickaD - I wanted to add my hugs to you and best wishes for DH's eye, so very sorry to read about this happening. I will keep you both in my prayers, hoping all works out in every way. Take good care0 -
SpecialK: I said I would let you know what the RO said after consultation about doing some radiation now. He said in his opinion "none needed." Yay!! I guess maybe my MO just wanted the RO's opinion too. Anyway, no radiation and I'm OK with it. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!0 -
ChickaD just bumps in the road. It's still getting paved. Totally get why you want to stay and not go on the trip. Tell John you couldn't possibly enjoy yourself without him let alone knowing he's home dealing with his eye.
LizA17 I too got a pass on radiation but my onc sent me to the rad onc to make that call. Do we have the same onc? Are you being treated in Chicago?0 -

No Lago..I am being treated in Evansville, In. I am located in So. Illinois. I had actually finished chemo back in May. 2 more Herceptin! My MO just decided about 2 wks ago to have consult w/RO. RO said no radiation needed. I'm happy about that as I was looking forward to the day after Christmas being the last day of Herceptin. I would've soldiered through it if he would've recommended it tho. I have a lot to be thankful for this year. Yes, I battled breast cancer but I've learned so much about how strong I am, what is important, what is not and no matter what..there's always someone out there that's got things worse than yourself. We truly are warriors!!0 -
Lifting you up in prayer goutlaw! We have all been where you're at with these scans and fears. Hang in there! {{{{Hugs}}}}0 -
Goutlaw, ((((((hugs))))))). Scanxiety is the worst! I have my fingers and toes all crossed that all comes out clear - no mean feat considering the state of my hands and feet!
Remember we're all here for you, waiting for the results with you.
Nicky0 -
Hugs goutlaw! We are here. Waiting is the worst! SpecialK hope you're doing ok too.
Lisa congrats on no rads.
ChickaD- are you trying to get over your eye aversion with your pic? LOL. Is it working? Praying it is just a stitch or two and things will improve rapidly..and how could relax when he is still at risk. Nope couldn't do it euther. Much love you will get to relax for a bit - jus later.
Much love to all.0 -
Miss Moon.......LOL on eye pic!

Liz, yay for no rads!
goutlaw, (((hugs))), waiting is the worst.
ChickaD, I am so sorry that the news was not as positive as you hoped on Monday. Hopefully by Wednesday's Appt, things will be looking better and John will not need the surgery. I hope your chemo goes smoothly today.0 -
OMG I'm so far behind--and can't remember a thing here--drat. I'll try.
Lago I can't imagine that u'r job won't work out-I've never seen anyone so fervent and knowledgeable about BC. good Luck.
OK who's ever finishing anything YYYAAAAYYYYY
Whoever is starting something YYYAAAYYY cuz it will lead to finishing. And that's u'r goal one day at a time.
Special are u still hurting?
Pbrain I'm so glad to still see u on here u add so much of u'r knowledge to this post as do quite a few women, I always say how much u all amaze me, how u help everyone and Lago like I said u r a wealth of info and caring.
I see there was a small discussion about my name Bwahahahaha it will remain a mystery (well I don't know anything) I just thought Vivian was so so clever with a name, when I came on here I just laid it all down Chit I've been up for 2 hrs. and I don't know what the hell I'm talking about--I'd better get some sleep since I work PT now--u know this can not last long, even tho I work from home I'm not into it, some days I just want to curl up, take my pain meds and not talk to anyone and I have to pretend I care about someones's hot tub needing to be fixed, or fans being put up or whatever, I'm not good at pretending. LOL My specialty is lazy, which I have honed to perfection, I could even teach it.
I really hope everyone has a decent day U all deserve it.

Goutlaw I had my liver scanned for 2 years before my onc would cut me loose and say "they are only cysts." I refused to get upset. The only way I got through it, especially the last time when she said "No lets not do the next one in a year. You're much further out from chemo. Lets do it in 6 months.) was to remain calm until someone tells me there is an issue. Seriously many times this is a CYA or a false positive…
When I was a sophomore in college my mom was told she had Thyroid cancer. Well the did the surgery and guess what… no cancer just some abnormal cells. We are lucky our imaging is better than it was back then but like I said until someone says for sure there is something to worry about I'm not going into a panic.
and remember shit doesn't happen most of the time… I still haven't won the damn lottery. (((hugs)))0 -
Update did not get job. That makes 4 times applying for a job with then (not including the temp position). Time to stop wasting my time and look else where.0 -
so sorry Lago! Think all of us here are well aware that life isn't fair .But for all of us who know you and know what an informed, intelligent, dedicated , compassionate and wise advocate you are, it doesn't make sense! Does anyone actually look at your advocacy here?0 -
lago, that is disappointing to hear. I know you would have been a great asset for them.0 -
Miss Lago.....so sorry to hear ..... hugs!
