Annie, congrats on the all clear.  Have to admit that I am envious of your celebration as I could use a margarita!! As Mary said, our area received 13+ inches of heavy wet snow so I spent over two hours helping hubby with the shovel and sculpt. Cars are now dug out and driveway clear just in time for another 2-4inches of snow. Course the snow plow will likely come thru leaving a 4 ft. wall at the end of the driveway...Devil Can not express my sincere respect for my northern sisters who deal with this regularly...

But on the positive side, I got in some serious exercise and worked off more points than I ate today per WW......

Mary, I never heard of cooking spray on the shovel. Quick, take out a patent and make your fortune!!!!!

Warrior, I'm in yellow on the snow mobile.

Annie, congratulations on the 'all clear'. Yes, I think stretching is the key. I am still a little tight seven years out, so I think you have to stretch, and keep stretching forever.

Inspired, I'd run fast too if a coyote was chasing me! Winking

We had some snow & lots of wind last night, but nothing like what you East Coast girls are getting. Yikes! It is not very often in February where North Dakota people would say, "Well, at least we're not in North Carolina." But it is true this year.

We did 'dancer's legs' in my Core class today, in pilates we did abs, abs, abs, and then I did a little shovel & sculpt....so that pretty much covers the whole body toning-wise. I MIGHT try yoga again tomorrow.

ROFL - Love Ruth's exercise cartoon.  teehee

I just read the cooking spray and shovel post that Mary wrote about. That' was pretty clever - like McGyver.  :)

I didn't do the remaining 30 minutes at the gym.  My right ankle looks a little greenish and is a bit swollen - I think I must have sprained it.  I did twist it a few times today on the mountain, and tonight while walking about at stores, I was limping. Didn't know what it was all about until I got home.

Do you all think I can work out at the gym tomorrow if it feels better?

Oh my Mary and Odie I don't envy you girls shoveling and sculpting, it certainly looks really bad back there.  No Ruth, when you see a coyote you take a pot and spoon and you bang it and scream at the coyote 'go away coyote, go away' yes, that is exactly what was told to us by Fish and Game wardens when coyotes were invading our neighborhoods and taking cats and small dogs, I still miss my Fluffy Sad

Inspired I hate to admit this, even when I hurt like heck, I still workout, I just modify.

Tonight did Body Jam class, the instructor brought glow stick bracelets and we did 'glow in the dark' dancing, fun fun fun.

I'm watching the Olympics - who in their right mind straps on a set of skis and then decides to fly off a mountain flipping and turning, crazy kids but it sure is entertaining!!!!

On the trail, it was all about those billion stars on the snow (thanks, Badger!). The camera caught just a few.

Annie, big whew! You just have to keep at it with the exercises for the shoulder.

Heidihill - I am going to close my eyes and pretend I am in that picture.

Between my Mother and my Daughter and my Tamoxifen hormones I thought I was going to kill someone so I rode 8km in 23 minutes on my exercise bike and now I am hot and sweaty but calmer and I get to log some exercise.

Those two wonderful women don't know what a lucky escape they have had.Smile

    Happy Valentine's Day Ladies!

I'm on couch with Percoset and hot green tea.  Hobbling to a very early breakfast with hubby - then he has to work until this evening, so we will stay home for Valentine's Day and then celebrate this weekend - but we got each other a little treat bag for tonight. :)

Inspired...Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.....RICE is the recommended tx for things like sprains. The more you use it before it's healed, the longer the healing takes.

bounce.....Loved your post...not sure if you realize it, but you sound like you have crossed that "magical line"...you are now an EXERCIZER!

My exercise today will be walking the one mile each way to the Tassels and Wine (burlesque, and wine/food pairing at the wine bar) show tonight.  Yesterday was lots of work, but I did slide in a walk/run at the end of the day.  Important is that I have telecom/internet figured out for where I am going.  I still need to call Puget Sound Energy and rent the U-Haul.  One change I am going to make is eliminate paper bills where possible.  This, after my trip to the U-Pitch-It place a few weeks ago.

I am so behind, but did get a small work project I hadn't counted on.

Heidi....stunning.  I must ski in the Alps one day.

I hope to go skiing this weekend, but I may not have time.  (See behind on work comment above.)  And next weekend is the move.  I will do a last run along Elliott Bay then.  (Unless I come to Seattle to do a run with the wine bar crowd.)

Only 4 more trips to Redmond.  One of them is today.  Talk to everyone later.  And Happy Valentine's Day! - Claire

Claire, I have faith you will get your possessions in boxes and roll on to your new digs - on time.  Nice photo Heidi and reminds me of Serre Chevalier. Our son's term break started today.  Bounce,  like your honesty.  Annie, happy for your all clear yet sorry to read you still dealing with frozen shoulder.

Freestyle step, body balance including swim and  long time lying down out in the steam room on this rainy, windy dismally grey Valentines Day.

I also meant to thank everyone who originally told me I needed hiking boots or hiking shoes!  I just hadn't had a chance to get them yet, but I will make that a priority.

Breakfast this AM did not happen ... I couldn't walk on foot.  So I'm trying the r.i.c.e. now.

What do I use for compression?  Like an ace bandage?  If I can't get exercise in today, I will sit on patio for all naturale Vitamin D.

Went over to the YMCA, walked 45 minutes around the track & went to Yoga. I liked it better than the first time. I don't think it will ever be my 'thing' but will go every once and awhile (even though it is a 60 minute class, I checked off only 30 minutes of toning in my notebook....I can not convince myself that it 'counts' for a full an hour of exercise).

    Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to the sculpted sisterhood.  Much love to all of you SillyHeart

I'm a bit behind, but.. NatsFan, good job on the challenge organizing.  Bounce & Hbcheryl, thanks for the discussion of push ups and wrists.  I have wrist pain too and actually never thought of pointing my fingers inward.  AnnieLane, congratulations on the milestone, and for what it's worth I had frozen shoulder before BC, and it very slowly but surely healed without any injections or physical therapy (this on advice of an orthopedic doctor).  It was mostly healed at two years and continued to improve over the third year.  Really annoying condition!

Long walk today and going to do some weights.  It's crazy warm today, like summertime.  Lots of people out.

Happy Valentines Day, Ladies! Thanks for all your kind words and encouragement.

DH & I walked the dogs today and I went for a short, slow run - easing into this running thing. Also went to the gym for some weight lifting.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.. Love to all my exercise buddies!

Unfortunately no exercise for me today as an unexpected auto accident decided to wreck my plans. Luckily no injuries and car is fixable so life is good. Just an example of why I hate to get out and about after bad weather as I can't control those around me. DevilWill get more exercise tomorrow digging out hubby' s car so I have something to drive while mine is in the shop.

    Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

We have been house bound because of snow and ice. I have fast walked in the house, climbed stairs, and of course shovel and sculpt. Temps are up now and the road was plowed so will be getting out tomorrow.

Ruth: Raleigh was a mess! The traffic was like Atlanta a few weeks ago.

Badger and Cheryl: Love love love Cranberry Citrus Crisps! Hope they continue them next year.

    Annie: Congratulations on your results!

Inspired: Thinking about you and your ankle.

Update on my second cousin (my cousin's daughter) who is on the US Biathlon Olympic team: Hannah finished 23rd and was the first American to cross the finish line in the 5k Individual Event! Biathlon is the only winter sport that no American has ever received a medal. I'm so proud of what Hannah has accomplished since she started training in Biathlon only 3 years ago!

hi all and Happy Valentine's Day!  ♥

Ruth, love the new avatar pic, it's my fave of you so far.

Got to the track and walked after work.  Put in my road trip '95 tape and headed west in my mind to One Fine Morning (Lighthouse), Radar Love (Golden Earring), Let It Roll (Little Feat), Papa Come Quick (Bonnie Raitt), Motorcycle Driver (Joe Satriani), and some other great stuff that kept my feet moving.

Still haven't calibrated new pedometer so not logging any miles.  Headphones <= headphones!

((odie)) so glad you weren't hurt but what a PITA about getting car fixed.

Odie - yikes. I'm so glad you're OK - those streets were nasty this week.  The county government (where dh and I work) almost never closes, but we were closed Thursday and Friday because the roads were so bad.  Wonder - congrats on your cousin - what a thrill for her!

Question for everyone, just for fun - if you had the ability to be an Olympic athlete, what would be your sport?  It can be Summer or Winter.  I'm not good at sports that need quick moves - I'm better at the repetitive endurance stuff.  So, I think I'd actually like the biathlon.  I'd like the challenge of the endurance part of it, combined with the steadiness needed for the shooting.  What about everyone else?  Happy

20 minutes shoveling yesterday.  Need to figure out something to do for exercise as there'll be no running for me on snowy sidewalks today.  And I just looked outside - it's snowing AGAIN!!!!  Bawling  Well, we did figure out one good use for the snow for our Valentine's dinner last night - it was perfect for chilling the champagne.  SillyHeart

Odie - so glad you're OK and glad the vehicle can be fixed.  DH and I will be heading over to pick up my replacement vehicle in about an hour (mine was totalled a copy of weeks ago). The dealership is finishing up the paperwork as I type.

I did some exercise for the soul today.  I went to breakfast with a friend I haven't seen since September.  Now I need to get off my duff and do some real exercise.

Yikes, it looks like this car accident thing is spreading.  Everyone be careful.

My olympic sport would definitely be snowboarding.  Dang that looks like fun.

Hi Everyone! Wow, that cold champagne looks wonderful!

So yesterday the whole day I did the ice pack, compression and elevation.  Hubby cooked dinner and I stayed on couch entire day.  So my ankle injury ended up being quite serious, not the type of injury where I could still power through at a gym - because the problem was that no weight can be placed on my foot.  I couldn't even sneak into the cupboard above the fridge for a chocolate treat! That's when you know you have trouble.

Due to my anxiety over missing yesterday and today's workout, we went through my yearly calendar with monthly totals and see that I've been working out non-stop for 20 straight months, with each month at 200 miles+.  Majority of months are 30-32 hours, but one month last Spring we found that I had a 4 hour week (and nothing bad happened as a result of missing it). So between my husband and the calendar they convinced me that I can take a 48 hour break from exercise and if I hit my goals this coming week, I will still have 26 miles for the month and at least 180 miles.

My ankle is much improved, both that ice and compression alternating technique have worked wonders ... I have improved a lot.  Today we will take it easy and go to lunch.  Black Angus has $8.50 lunch specials (good on Saturday!). This will give me a chance to see how much more healing I have to do before planning a workout.

Wishing all of you a great day - and thanks for the well wishes, I appreciate them!

Appreciate all the concern, glad it is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things; just aggravating.... Anyhoo, glad S&S found a new vehicle and Inspired' s ankle is doing better. Love the question challenge Mary and the clever way to chill the champagne... Have to agree with Twohobbies on the snowboarding. Or maybe figure skating.

Walked 4 miles on the treadmill this morning and did some circuit/toning exercises.

I love ice watching, so will pick that sport and the hunky partner that goes with it!

Man, I hate winter driving! Be careful out there with all the rotten weather and roads.

Ducli, stay off the ankle awhile longer!

I did a tiny whirl on the treadmill this morning, a busy day here!

Indoor track is open from 7-9 tonight so I'll head that way in a bit.

Mary, my Olympic sport would be speed skating.  Fun question!
