I went to Zumba and ending up staying for the 6:30 Yoga class because the new teacher was a classmate of DS (in fact, the first time I met her, she was in pre-school) and she is married to one of DS's friends. She did a very good job & I will probably go back again (it is Monday & Wednesdays, but I would only go Wednesdays. Monday would interfere with my Dancing With the Stars watching!)

Ruth: Oh my goodness! Your description of your freezer made me sick! I can see the water and blood mixture now.
Glad the smell is getting better.Patoo: Glad the prep is better - sorry you have to go through it again after just having one done in December. Hoping for all to be benign.
Nats: Good luck with your colonoscopy in April.
Odie: Hope tomorrow is a good kind of busy for you.
Good evening Everyone! I haven't reported in a couple of days because there hasn't been much to report.
So tonight I really heard the Voices and decided to listen and obey this time. I set the kitchen timer and fast walked in the house because the weather has been a wintry mix, rainy, and everything in-between. Tomorrow is a different day and we are expecting sun and warmer weather. 0 -
Glad you found a company that will deliver and haul away your freezer Ruth. What a pain having to have another one so soon and I highly recommend Cottonelle wet wipes
Dulci congrats on day 1 of your training. This morning went to Sh'bam and tonight was Body Combat

Thanks, HB. I am sore this morning in strange places!!! Lol.

Dulci, spot on -You all should try it! Such fun!! Been tracking online live a woman radio presenter in London who has been
on a treadmill now for 19 hours and going for a 26 hour total (5 minute
comfort breaks every hour) to raise £ for charity. I find it amazing
and she is 48 years young!Been at the gym each day this week doing 2 to 3 classes and pilates today too. .

Spent the day running the roads for work but can't complain since the sun was out and it was actually warm enough to vent the sun roof. No exercise for me today but will get back at it tomorrow.
May have to pick up a hoop and try that this summer.

Nihahi: Your pictures!
Looks like a white out! You may not want to read anymore when I describe my day.Walked fast/jogged at the park the afternoon. It was 68 degrees with full sun and blue sky. Perfect for outside activities. So different from just 2 days ago - we had icy weather and the schools were closed.

Wonderland...love your description of the day you had....gives me a glimmer of hope.! Never did make it down to the gym today, but cleared out a corner in the bedroom that had become a "dump zone".

It was pretty nice here today, but the forecast for tomorrow sounds like Nihahi's pictures look.
I subbed, so did the 6:30pm Zumba instead. I have just been watching a 'March Madness' basketball game, where the 12th seated North Dakota State Bison just beat the number 5 team, Oklahoma, to advance to the next round of the tournament (which they have never done before). Whoo Hoo!
* they won in overtime; a little freshman who sat on the bench the whole game came in and made 2 free throws & a basket to win the game

Exercise today consisted of carrying stuff from my office downstairs to the garage and running back up. Finally tidying up that room after having lived in this house for seven months now. <insert embarrassed emoticon here>
That plus about 40 minutes hooping.

Oh my Nihahi, it sure looks like the kind of day where you stay in bed and pull the covers over your head
I have to say that I've not worn a jacket to the gym for the past few weeks as it's been so warm here but today, the first day of spring it was downright chilly tonight (well probably not chilly by all your standards)
Tonight did Body Jam class.

Hey Ruth - I took ND State to win that game in my bracket. I always do a 12-5 upset pick, and when I saw that ND State was a #12 seed, I made that my upset pick in your honor. So thanks - I'm in first place in my office pool as of this morning because of that pick! (We'll see where I am at the end of the tournament . . .
)30 minutes on the dreadmill last night - the snow is almost gone so hopefully I can start running home after work once or twice a week. It's only about 4 miles through the park, so it's a nice way to end the day.

Found you! I'll go back to re-read old posts later, but just a quick hello. I'm anxious to get active again and for Spring. My BMX is scheduled on April 3rd. Any ideas on how soon I could start walking &/or stretching. Interested in learning yoga & tai chi, too.

Welcome CD! I'm sorry you have to join us, but you found a great group here.
You should be able to start walking right after surgery - my surgeon encouraged walking, so I was up and walking around the hospital halls early the next day, dragging my little IV pole behind me. Yes, it was slow and painful and I didn't go far, but I was walking. When I got home, I tried to walk every day, increasing the distance a bit more each day. It was tiring, but it helped me keep moving, and helped me sleep better at night. And my surgeon was thrilled.
As for stretching, I see in your sig you're having nodes removed. That puts you at increased risk for lymphedema (LE). There is some evidence that it's best not to attempt to lift your arms higher than your shoulders for at least 10 days to 2 weeks after surgery, as that may give the lymphatic system a bit of extra time to recover from the shock. Attempting to do a lot of ROM exercises, even those "wall walking" exercises surgeons love to give us too soon after surgery may stress the lymphatic system and increase the risk of triggering LE. I bumped a thread in the LE forum for you that explains other risk reduction measures you can take before and after surgery: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/64/topic...

Glad you coming over to play with us CD!
I have become something of a gym rat now (because I retired last spring), but at the time I was diagnosed, I was walking and doing exercise DVDs. After the surgery recovery time, I was very careful with the upper body. Starting with just going through the motions with no weights, then adding soup cans, up to 1 pound etc......slowly, slowly. But what I did do, was I really concentrated on the abs and lower body exercises (which I never really cared for and kind of cheated on before) and actually ended up losing a pants size.....so that was an unexpectedly good thing that came out of it.I met a friend at the YMCA this morning and we did 'Fitness On Demand', where you choose your own DVDs from a large selection & it plays on a big screen. We choose Cardio Sculpt and Intense Abs. Both very good & since the instructors on the screen were about 35 years younger than us, we were happy to come out of there alive!
Mary, President Obama picked North Dakota too, which the local news was pretty excited about. From watching interviews throughout the season, they really seem like a nice group of young men. After the game, an announcer asked the coach what the victory meant to him, and he said, "I just love those seniors so much that I don't ever want this season to end. And this means we get to keep playing!" Ahhhh......

45 minutes yoga....arms are getting stronger...can do plank and side planks again, finally.
OK, I'll jump on the ND bandwagon, even though we don't watch BB here. Ruth...hope your weather today didn't turn out as expected....sunny here today, but colddddd!

It's bad here; a wet sticky snow and extremely windy. The roads are going to be a mess!

I celebrated getting to just single digit rads treatments left
today by running on the treadmill. I pushed myself to run 3/4 of a mile at 12 minute pace and 1/4 at 10 minute pace for 4 miles. "Glitter in the Air" by Pink came on my ipod as I hit the last 1/4 mile at a 10 minute p
ace. It helped get me over the hump 0 -
Yay for you StillRunning!!! I didn't do rads but getting down to single digits for remaining treatments sounds like a great milestone
!All - I need you to send those 'voices' my way. After a great January/February I've had a really hard time the past 3 weeks making myself work out. Only 9 weeks until the California Dreaming trip with some of my online survivor sisters - I need to step it up rather than slacking off!

Welcome, cd.
Mother Nature had this little surprise today: Moral of the story, NEVER NEVER NEVER put the snow shovel away before July!

I walked for 3 hours today.
(In a flea market.)
No liquid awesome, but I moved the whole time and got a cute scarf and a 1930's French/English dictionary for my sis.
