Jackie.... DD in Orlando wants to get me a Nutribullit!  Do you love yours?  She goes through these healthy spurt trauma's, and not only wants to get healthy herself, she freely imposes that idea on ME!!!

I'm just wondering if after the "new" wears off, it will go sit in my garage, with my cup-cake maker, my waffle-iron and "important" stuff like that!

Wow Chevy.....good question.  We use ours almost all the time.  The times when we don't are the times that I haven't gone to the store for "fresh" supplies to use in it and if I'm working a few days in a row.

We did have to experiment a little with ours to get flavors that REALLY pleased us, but since you are using all good food pretty much it is not hard to do.  We tend to do it to make sure we are getting more of what the food pyramid advises is best......also, I do know well seasoned people don't always get as much out of what they eat as we don't metabolize as well so I feel that putting in a bit extra by drinking it makes me feel I'm not as deficient though almost everyone lacks something I would say.  There are foods I don't like as well that end up in the Nutribullit and I can  ** eat ** them without noticing that I'm eating something that I said I wouldn't eat if you held a gun to my head.

You can mix a huge variety of things in it......all veggies or fruits although what makes it easy to DRINK the green Nutribullit concoctions of vegetables are the fruits you put in to give a good flavor and a sweet sensation.

As well, they all come with some cook-books and even tells you how to space things so that you are working up to an optimum over-all level for heath.  I don't pay much mind to that......as I'm attempting more to fill in what I may miss from the food pyramid and seasoned age.  Also, since we have winter to consider in our growing year.....I can still get some fresh veggies during the winter season and keep eating/drinking them down.

You can use canned veggies and fruits or frozen ones...............so your style of how you use this machine won't have to be depended on any one season.

No one ( if they don't want to ) needs to use it constantly --- but we sort of like how we feel if we only skip on occasions of our choosing -- like when I'm working really long days with a few in a row, or things like that.  Otherwise, we throw what we have  in the little machine and drink it up.  Good way to use things up that you might end up wasting if you had to wait.....like a banana that is really ripe......and which would be almost toooo ripe in a day and a half..........is perfect for lots of flavor to mix with your green veggies in the machine.  We don't waste too much anymore -- Denny is bad about forgetting and we were throwing away far too many bananas especially.

Let me know what you decide.   I'm interested.

    Blessings

    Jackie

It sounds as though a Nutribullit is a type of blender?  I've looked long and hard at the Vitamix blenders but haven't bought one because you almost need to take out a mortgage to pay for it.  Some of my bc.org friends who own a Vitamix really like it.  I've been using my deceased MIL's old blender.  It works ok for smoothies with Greek yogurt and frozen berries and frozen banana slices.  But when I tried adding kale, the smoothies weren't quite "smooth."

I meant to do some gardening after my round of golf today, but I haven't made it outside.  I have some indoor chores that I'd better get started on.

Jackie, another celebrity who had too many facelifts is Mary Tyler Moore.  She looks downright peculiar.  But well-done plastic surgery can do wonders.  There's a woman on a local pbs program who has kept herself looking great and she looks completely natural, too.  She's the hostess of a show called Steppin' Out.  It's about entertainment options in New Orleans.  Her husband is prominent on the same pbs station but he doesn't look nearly as good!  He could stand to lose about 40 lbs.

The nutrition class is a great deal.  I'd be interested in it, too.  We pay $69 a month for the two of us to exercise at the YMCA.  I figure it's well spent $$ as long as we make use of the gym.  We have a home gym in an outbuilding with all kinds of equipment but we weren't using it.  On Tues. and Thurs. morning we go together to the Y.  But not this week for me.

    Hi everyone

Mimi- so sorry to hear about your brother. I don't think that not being close at this time matters as much as losing a fundamental part of your youth.

Jackie & Carole- I happened to see Goldie Hawn on TV the other day and did not recognize her- she, too has gone way overboard with PS. Do they ever really seem themselves in the mirror?

I had a busy day today. I met a good friend from Fl at a Cheesecake Factory and had a 2 hr lunch. Went straight from there to the therapist about my lymphedema, then to radiation. Thank goodness therapy and radiation are less than 5 minutes away from each other. It was so good to see someone from home.

I guess some of those stars are on such a high pedestal that "aging" is something they can't totally face.  That is rather sad.  I didn't know about MTM or Goldie Hawn.  They were such favorites of mine in the 70's.

Carole.....we found our Nutribullit on sale at K-Marts.  I wouldn't have known except for Dh working for Sears and Sears owns K-Mart.....so Dh found out about the sale and we went and got one.  Kale is one of the biggies that helps with people who have high cholesterol.  I don't have the cook-book  in front of me but I think they have ingredients/recipes for several health issues.  I think you could google and find it all.

I think the ( quite small and very easy to clean ) machines are about $99.00 regular price and we got ours on a half price sale.  Have never seen that sale again.   They don't take up any real counter space and could easily go into one of your kitchen cupboards.  I guess I sound like a rolling commercial for it, but I was impressed at how easy to clean it since we tried a couple of different juicers and that was really a difficult procedure.  Vita Mixes are a very deluxe machine.....and using different blades can make hot or cold food, grind seeds and I think may even be able to knead bread dough now, but you do have to mortgage your house  and I think.....would it even pay if you didn't live on a farm or something.  It was too much for me..........and my goal was and has continued to be to try and get more veggie's and fruits in a quick easy way without major fussing.

Well, I was right pretty much.  My computer repairs and new parts took most of what I had left from my recent bout of work.   Sigh !!!  Seems to happen every time.....but in the end its ok.  I mean I would really struggle if I had not been fortunate enough to get some extra work just when I needed it.

    Mimi....still thinking about you.

    Di......thinking about you as well.

It has been a stunning day.  Our leaves are out ( not way out ) on the trees now and before long we will not be able to see the houses on the next block nor them, us.  That is when I really like where we live because you would almost think we were out in the middle of no-where and not another soul around.

    Blessings,

    Jackie

Well, DD bought her's at Costco, and the Nutri-bullit was only $95!  Not ther $300 one like the Vita-mix...  Maybe that one is larger?   She is sending my other Daughter the money for Mother's Day, so we will go get it ourselves!

I'm planting Mustard Greens....  Kale.... Collard Greens and Oriental Greens....  Bought all the seed at Costco.... I also have mint, and Lemon Balm coming up, alont with Italian Parsley....

I'm also going to mix in that Aloe Vera that we buy at Walmart, for $7.50 I think!     I used to make an orange drink with Instant Protein, from Shaklee...  and I really liked that.   But haven't had any for years!

Now I'm getting anxious!  Thanks Jackie for the info!

Chevy, sounds like a nice garden you're planting.  I'll have to google the Nutribullit and see what it looks like.

SO happy I don't have to get up at 6:30 tomorrow morning.  It will feel luxurious to sleep until I feel like getting up.  Which will probably be 7 am!

Jackie, I'm sorry you had to spend your earnings on your computer.  Somehow that just isn't fair.  But who ever said life is fair?

    Hello to everyone else.

Di and others, thanks for keeping me close today.

Jackie - As they say "hate it when that happens."  Using money earmarked for fun as a way to fix something is not fun.  Glad you can enjoy the computer again though.

Chevy - if you eat all the greens you are planting is there any danger you will turn green?  The garden should be quite pretty with all those herbs.  I have a neighbor older than me who loves the outdoors and keeps up with flowers and grass.  I'm lucky enough to enjoy the view of her garden from my sunroom.  I get more visual benefit than she does, but she loves being out there in the sun.

I don't expect I'll be doing the green smoothy plan, but I could get more V-8 in the house.

I'm headed to a balloon instruction day this weekend in LaCrosse Wisconsin.  Anybody live there?

Hi everyone popping in at a crazy hour, cuz I fell asleep super early--I was out all day and when I got home had to do my work on the computer, then I couldn't keep my eyes open so--here I am.

U know I never thought of Plastic Surgery as vanity, I just thought of it as looking the best u could, cuz there is nothing wrong with that. I'd be to scared but I would do it if I could, in a minute. A couple of my girlfriends have had work done but nothing screams out at u just a smoother look And to me Joan Rivers talks about it and makes fun of it so it doesn't really bother me--BUT  MTM and Goldie Hahn look horrible which I don't understand cuz u would think they would have the best PS"s available to them and I feel bad for them cuz I always liked them so much now it's kinda sad looking at them.

Oh my DD1 has the nutribullet, I honestly don't know how much she uses it anymore but she does love that little guy. I have a big and smaller (I don't know the name) but it has a few sharp blades and u can put ice or anything in there and pulse it and everything is smooth as can be. I bought them on sale from HSN I think they're Wolfgang Puck but I got them at a super price and I have a smoothie maker again super priced and they're great.

Jackie I finally figured out there is no such thing as extra money---it always gets eaten up by something else that we don't count on.

My Dr. called tonite and I have to do more tests next week she's trying to figure out what's wrong and she said if she can't I go to a Urologist whatever. she's so nice I told her maybe the pain is all in my head, cuz it could be, but she said no cuz I do have blood and other things that arent' supposed to be ther in my urine--so she said she wants one more go of it. So we'll see.--Like the sign on the road when u enter the town of Sample---Your in Sample.

Good morning!  It felt so nice to stay in bed until 7:20 this morning.  If I felt really energetic, I would go for a walk before I get ready for my 9:30 hair apptment.  That's a major IF.  Instead I'll have another cup of coffee.

I googled Nutribullet.  It looks like a good gadget designated for smoothies.  It doesn't replace the blender but I don't use my blender for anything else.  I have an immersion blender that works well for blending soups.  So I'll look for a sales price.  The going price seems to be $99.  There's also a larger model that costs about $149.

    Wishing everyone a good Thursday.

Hi Carole I just looked up nutribullet but it only shows the more expensive one at 139.00 Free S/H, but I didn't find the reg one.--I noticed different size lid things, but that's probably the only difference. Well I'm glad u'r relaxing a little, u'r always on the go.

I do hope everyone has a nice day today, I'm about ready to go back to sleep soon, but I have to get to Walgreens and pick up some stuff sometime today.

Yes, this is the one I see on Amazon also!  It is $99, but the one at Costco is $89, but you have to pay taxes on that...  Amazon offers free shipping also...

Carole, I have 2 "rounds"... that are elevated in my garden..... About 5 feet across....  I put two poles across it, like dividing a pie.... So I have 4 sections, and will plant the greens in there....   DD just sent pictures of her "breakfast".... It actually really looked good!  The "jars" are like 12" I think....

So I'll get one, sooner or later...

My hair stylist told me about the Nutribullet at my last appointment.  I thought about it and decided that it was not for me.  Now, after all of the discussion here, I am rethinking my decision as I know I am not eating enough vegetables.

My pneumonia seems to be retreating.  I think I have the energy to start cleaning again.  It's amazing how much better cleaning sounds than usual.  Feeling so under the weather for two weeks made me see how being able to do mundane chores is a gift of health.

Ok ye who have a nutribullet.....how do you get the top off without it all running out? I wonder that every time I see the ad. I'm not in the market for one. I don't care for smoothies and love vegetables in their solid state.

Ha, ha Wren!  I have no idea how the thing works.... Ask Jackie....!  But if you like solid veggies, that's even better I think!  I just don't eat enough....

Sorry about your pneumonia!  That is a bugger to get rid of!  Did you ever have a pneumonia shot?  Don't tell me you did, and then got pneumonia anyway.....  I've heard there are different types of pneumonia also!

What you see in the picture up above is the cup turned upside down with the fresh veggies.  It sits the other way when you are using it.  It spins at 1100 revolutions per minute ( I'm trying to remember this without checking my books )  to liquefy everything.  I prefer when possible to eat veggies as well, but I know that I've never really gotten what I should have.  Also, as we don't have a long growing season here and some things don't last long enough I have to find some way to get extra ( almost no matter what it is ) and I think we don't metabolize the same we get some age on us..................you can also make fruit smoothies so you can use up some things in some ways that might go to waste.

If you read the food pyramid.....I don't see how anyone gets what they should per day......and I have to find the most convenient way I can to get a lot closer.

All in all, I guess I've spoiled myself somewhat.  I can cook whatever I want for dinner because whatever I don't get from that meal or lunch.....comes out of the Nutribullet in a handy drink.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Mimi - balloon instruction?  I guess you mean small ones but I immediately pictured you learning to fly those "Around the world in 80 days" balloons in a basket.

Cami - sorry to hear about more tests - but hopefully they'll find the problem soon.

Extra money?  Ha ha.  I went to buy a bathing suit today since BS approved water aerobics even though I have my port & infusions for the rest of the year.  Gee whiz!!!  Needed skirt or shorts for the bottom due to skin hanging on stick legs.  Needed something for the top that would stay on during exercise and also go down to my waist & hopefully cover the port.  I did get home w/a suit, but I'll need to find a job to pay for it.  Remember when Jantzen & Rose Marie Reid made really nice suits for under $10.00?  Ha ha again.  Try to explain those prices to a husband or son!!

My raw veggies - cauliflower, radishes, carrots - always disappear when still raw.  They'd never last to make it into a 'blender'.  And I've done my testing w/Kale.  Not happening at this house.

Minus two the price of suits is recockulous--it has less material than anything else, it is amazing the cost of them and after all this try to find something that is decent on. I just go to my DD1 house and I wear anything that's comfortable she doesn't care so that's fine with me.

Yup cami - I've been wearing a sports bra from WalMart w/a T-shirt and an old 2 pc bottom.  I didn't that would be appropriate for a mixed sex water aerobics class.  Don't care about gorgeous anymore, just decent.

Golly....I didn't have any problem with Kale......maybe because it wipes out cholesterol so well.  Or, maybe when I don't like something especially -- like kale, I can hide it so much better in among the  pineapple, strawberries and banana.

Whew !!!  Bathing suits.  I really did think about some water aerobics.  My knees are not the greatest and the last couple of years have been a little rough on the edges, but for now I can do ok.  Walking up and down stairs can be touchy.  Anyway.....aerobics sounded sort of up my alley.  Then I saw myself in a bathing suit.  I recall a commercial......a couple of yrs. ago or more now I think.  The gal goes into the dressing room with a bathing suit.....and after a few seconds you hear this blood curdling scream.  Well, it could have been me.  OMG.  So, for now I'm walking on the indoor track as though I prefer to walk out of doors....along our country roads....the flat evenness of the indoor track keeps me going at a nice pace without much problems.  New knees could be in my future a few years from now.

Yes, there are different pneumonias. There is I think a viral one and bacterial one as well.  I think we get the shot for the most common one as the other is so much more un-likely.  I don't know if mine is up-to-date.  May not be as I've not remembered to ask.......however, I do get the flu shots on a fairly regular basis.  Have not gotten the shingles shot as I tried as hard as I could to get the chicken pox from my sister when she had it ( I was bed-bound for several months as a kid with rheumatic fever and the Pediatrician says yes.....she might as well since we are keeping such a heavy-duty  eye on her ) and you might know.....I had one very tiny chicken pox on my nose............nary a one elsewhere.  So I just decided that I would never have the shingles thank you very much.  Of course, I pray that I'm right about that.  There's only one way to find out if I am right.....and that is NOT to get the shot.

We had a really nice day today, but I think it may rain through the night.  Our ground seems quite moist still from the last rain.  I think Dh finally got all of last yr.'s crop of fall leaves off our ground finally so I won't mind so much seeing the rain come down.  My car might benefit as well.

    See you all later.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Hi everyone. We got back from Chicago very late on Wednesday and today I had an 8 a.m. appointment with the plastic surgeon, so I'm dragging my tail feathers. Tomorrow I have to have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy so I'm on clear liquids today. Just took the Dulcolax pills and have to start the Golightly soon. Yucky but necessary. The prep for a colonoscopy is the hard part. The procedure tomorrow morning will take only a short time and then they'll do the endoscopy. I'll be awake and ready to go soon after. Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow!

The Chicago trip was exhausting but well worth it. I've been there before but just went to the natural history museum. This time we had a whole week and I researched and prioritized what I wanted to see and do. Most were off the beaten path. That way I would be sure to do the most important things even if my energy ran out. We did a lot the first two days, but then had to have a day off so we did a lot of driving and looking at different ethnic neighborhoods. Fascinating. We went to an old friend's church on Easter and followed with brunch at a big fancy hotel. The next day a friend from another BCO thread (who lives in the Milwaukee area) met us part way at the Illinois border. So much fun. It was like we'd known each other forever. After a few more days of amazing sights and great food, we were both ready to go home. Wonderful trip. Now we're home for two weeks before heading out on our driving adventure to Florida.

I've healed pretty well from surgery #4 a month ago. The plastic surgeon liked what he saw this morning and has now scheduled the next (and final) surgery for June. Can't wait. The mammogram that started this nightmare was in June last year.

I finally got a bathing suit that I like. I have a really cute one with a skirt, but it takes about 2 days to dry. It would be perfect for hanging around the pool, however. Then I found short shorts bottom and ordered a mx top from Lands End (on sale for 1/2 price). So between them I think I'm covered. I have an old suit where the top is fine but the bottom is too thin. I think I could wear the shorts over that. I do need to get rid of the drawstring on the shorts. I don't need a big pokey bow on the fattest part of my stomach, thank you.

The pneumonia shot is a one-time deal. At least at this point. I got the shingles shot even though it's not a sure thing by any means. My friend got shingles after the shot, but they told her it was a much lighter case. She still hurt because it was in her genital region.

Mimi- so sorry to hear about your brother!

Cami- sorry to hear you have to go through more test

I am not sure who was talking about underwire bras but I use to wear them but now they rub on my incision from the lumpectomy. I found a bra by Warner(others make them also I believe) but it suppose to have the lift from the bottom and holds the sides in. They are very comfortable and seems to do the job.

Results for bone density test shows improvement in spine and stable in hip and ankle. What a relief.

DH bought a juicer after I was first dx and I liked the fruits but not the vegetables. We used it often for a while but not so much lately so we gave it to ds and dil.  She uses it all the time. I use my old blender to make my smoothies with mixed fruit, frozen yogurt and a little juice of whatever is in the refrigerator.

My water aerobics class is all neighbors who are over 55.  In fact most of us are 70ish (I know you'll all love the 'ish').  And 99% of us wear T-shirts the entire time so no one sees the bathing suit, or arms, or tummy - and legs are under the water.  Guess my vanity just wanted a suit that would hide the worst when i go to my sons.

Minus....love that T-shirt idea over a sports bra or the bathing suit. :-)   I am hoping that this exercise class that I am doing three times a week helps to firm up some of my flab!

Termite...I think I wear the same Warner bras as you since I had trouble with underwires, also.  I love those bras!

It's a lovely day here and I'm heading to the yard to do a little more "yard duty" before I get in the golf cart and head down the lane to the golf course.  I hope everyone enjoys their day!
