I'm borrowing my daughters' computer for five minutes. No time to read, darn it. I'm next in the shower and then we're off exploring again today. The weather is great in Chicago. Yesterday we walked a few blocks to Andersonville and spent hours going into shops and enjoying the diversity. We had lunch at a Persian restaurant and it was fabulous. Today we're going down to Chinatown, then on to the old Chess Records studios, and finally taking a look at some fancy houses.. This afternoon (after a nap) we're taking the train downtown. We're touring the Dreihaus Museum then taking a tour this evening. Weird Chicago Tours does a 3 hr "Roaring 20's" tour that will take us into some of the old speakeasies and gangland areas among other things.

Having fun. Looking forward to catching up on the posts I've missed in the last two days.

Just Sharing, we have a pair of hooded siskin's eating out of our humming bird feeders and taking baths in the water pan we keep behind the house for the wild animals.  They are from the finch family.  We also have an acorn woodpecker feeding from the humming bird feeder.

I bought my son a qt humming bird feeder as an early BD present.  Our GD (5) called last night and was so excited, she said she saw a wee little bird, it was a humming bird, then she would tell me to wait while she ran took another look.  It was worth the $18.00.

I am going to bake some cinnimon raisin  bread, need something new for breakfast

Hope everyone has a good Good Friday.

Mommarch, have you tried that cinnamon caramel bread/cake my Daughter makes?  It is made with those frozen balls of dough, layered in a big baking or angel-food cake pan, layered with all sorts of stuff... Then you let it thaw, and raise, then bake....  I'll see if I can find it... It was REALLY delicious!

Cami - I get 'rips' down there with some frequency (and that's w/o any extra curricular activity).  My Gyn said to alternate using Neosporin and OTC 1%Cortisone cream.  The system won't let me go back a page to re-read your post, but I have itching too if you said that.  Mine's clearly not a yeast infection.  If you think it might be yeast, I believe you can get Monistat cream over the counter now.

Camille and Minus, that sounds like a painful "problem."  I think we can talk about all of our health issues.  You just never know when somebody can offer helpful info.  As happened in this situation.

We enjoyed dh's nephew's visit, but it's nice to have the house to ourselves tonight.

I bought two smoked shoulder hams to cook for Sunday.  The preferred method in my family is boiling the hams.  The boiled ham is tender and seems to taste less salty.  I'm cooking two lbs of navy beans in the slow cooker tonight with seasoning and smoked ham hocks.  Tomorrow I'll add some ingredients for baked beans.  The made-from-scratch baked beans are, IMHO, much better than the canned baked beans.  Sunday morning while the hams are boiling, I'll make some macaroni and cheese.  One of my brothers is bringing potato salad, which he or his wife will make the way our family likes it.  He'll also bring a veggie of his choice.  My younger sister is responsible for beverages and bread.  She makes really good iced tea so I hope she'll bring a jug of tea.  The kids all like carbonated "soft" drinks called "soda" in some parts of the country.  My oldest brother and his wife are supposed to bring dessert.  She usually makes a banana pudding with sugar-free pudding.  We have 3 diabetics in the family and a pre-diabetic, me.  My mother is hoping she brings another dessert choice, too.

SO...it's par for the course in the south, a holiday meal with lots of tasty carbs.

I hope Rita has a wonderful Easter holiday with her son and grandchildren.  I expect she will.

Once my posts reach a certain length, I get that jerky business, too.  So I'll close!

Carol, I don't think that's the first time I've seen your writings about yummies!  I love it because I don't cook and miss my mom's cooking!  My DH is from Palm Springs and I'm from OK and TX. He doesn't even know what fried potatoes are! First time we had fried potatoes, pinto beans and cornbread he had no idea what was happening!

Take a picture of that ham and beans so we can see it!  My "kidlets" (so hate the word stepchildren) will be here for pulled pork and goodies. My daughter-in-law is a great cook so she'll do most of it and I'm the great hunter of desserts. For a big city we have managed to live pretty close together. It's fun to just be informal and laid back on holidays. Now that kids are grown I don't feel any desire to decorate or dress up! It's their job to do that for their own children, not me!  No little ones here this year; they're hunting eggs in Oklahoma!

I get all that jumping at the bottom of my page as well. I just figured it was a way of telling me to stop writing! I can keep typing and jumping but can't see what I'm typing!

There is always something to do. There are hungry people to feed, naked people
to clothe, sick people to comfort and make well. And while I don't expect you
to save the world I do think it's not asking too much for you to love those with
whom you sleep, share the happiness of those whom you call friend, engage those
among you who are visionary and remove from your life those who offer you
    depression, despair and disrespect.image

Cam, how great to get some help.  Glad because you know ( funny -- I never envisioned it would happen to me ) there are times when my brain just seems to refuse to engage.  So, we only need to ask -- There are enough of us here that someone will almost always have some useful info.

Long day but satisfying.  Cleaning lady didn't make it today......so I took care of steam mopping all the tile floors and running the vacuum on  all the carpet.....quite plentiful in that house.  The mopping was easier though lots of tile too.

Go in at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow till 8 tomorrow night.  Another long day.....but just half a day on Sunday and that will be it for this week.

Not sure but I may have to take my computer in for a heavy duty tune-up as soon as possible -- we will see.  It's functioning....but not like it should so something is out of kilter.

Food....it does a body good.  When I was a kid......I hated meal-time ( though the food my mom fixed was always good ) because it took so much time away from being outside.  So, I resented the NEED to eat.  What a boost to my diet if I still felt that way.

Anyway.....you sound like your having a grand time Sandra.

My computer does the funny jumpy thing too.  Maybe I'll ask the mods if they know what that is about.  Just only seems to happen here at BC. Org.

Hope you all have a great Saturday.  See you later tomorrow night.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Oh wait!  I couldn't figure out what y'all were talking about, so I went back a page, and found this CAMMI with some sort of going's on with some sort of TMI...Is that transsandental medication infarction, or something similar?    I don't think I understand THAT one!

But let me tell YOU what it's like to have a purple area.... I mean you KNOW where!  I somehow started growing that mushroom variety or bread cultures down there, and  I finally gave up and called this old Doctor... He said to use vinegar and water rinse...  So I did... But I thought, Okay, I'll use 1/2 C of vinegar, or something close and the rest water... because I thought the more I used, the better I would get.

Let me first say that any one with 1/2 a brain would KNOW that using a bucket of vinegar with a little water, is NOT what the Doctor ordered!

So after that, I could not even walk... I mean I had to be almost lifted out of the tub, with arms and legs all askew, dressed, and taken to Old Doc Brown's....  He then commenced to paint me with this purple stuff, and calmly asked me if I heard the part about the 2T part of vinegar in that water-bottle bag filled with water... to  which I uttered, "I don't think so."

And going home was so hard, I mean SITTING and all!  I looked in the mirror.... MY GOD I WAS purple!!!!!!!!!  And I mean PURPLE!   So I pickled it with vinegar, was painted purple on my 'p****'!!!!  I mean I don't think I can say that... although I DO push it around here sometimes.....

Oh the mortification of it all!   SINCE then, I think I know that  antibiotics will cause these bouts of frustration and itching.

But mine wasn't like yours miss Cammi!    I STILL don't know what TMI's it IS!  I'll bet YOU are a delight at a Church social!   No.... don't scratch .... "there".....  It just calls attention to yourself doing stuff like that.....  So when did you START ever wearing underwear?

It's Minus2 that you are giving advice to?  Oh Lordy, LORDY!   This was in the "olden" days that I had my bout with vinegar and purple people eater stuff....   so Minus, whatever you do, don't listen to either one of us.... okay?

I FINally had to go to a gyn doctor, who probably thought to herself "WTH did she DO down there?"  And I had to have surgery...  A conization it was called, I believe... "to repair the damage" she said.

Carole, your Easter Dinner sounds like it will be great!

Lostboob... You are right "step-children" doesn't mean anything...  Same with my "step Grandma".... She was only "Grandma" to me...  Even though she married my Grandpa when she was only 21, and he brought along his 2 kids, who were 5 & 6!  Can you imagine?

So we officially disown the word "step".... okay?   When people adopt   babies and children, they are THEIRS....  Same as when you marry someone with kids...  they are yours too...!  You inherited them!

Cammi!  OMG!  Just use the dry pudding... No don't cook it first...  I should have been more succinct... or is it discreet... (oh wait, that ain't gonna happen!)

And are you talkin' bout ME with that dye job cartoon?  Yes...  that's me.. Ha!

I'm watching the chickens again today & tomorrow!  Actually I'm not "WATCHING" them, just making sure they have enough feed and water, whilst I snatch their eggs, and eat them all up!  image  But I WILL take EdithKitty over some special food, and pet her too!

Jackie, did you get your computer fixed?  I MISS you!  xoxoxoxo

    Happy day before Easter gals!

Yes Chevy the tramp was u--I couldn't resist and my infection isn't inside it's all around it--strange TMI =to much info, just for u'r understanding--but Minus 2 helped me I think. Oh step children well I have a whole other look on that one---My second husband was older than me and had 8 kids, didn't like them (except 2) they were horrible oohh one of them was going to jail for killing a woman--what's to like? One was on all kinds of drug, what's to like?I didn't even like the girls, lied did drugs and were down right mean--like their father I thought I was going to change everything--well I didn't like 2 of the boys they were actually nice and were very nice to me and another hardly ever saw so that was OK. So I was a miserable step mother except for the 2 and they were older and not doing awful things. But I never said no to any of them living with us when they had no place to live--only 2 were teens and they always lived with us and Iliked the boy a lot he was always sticking up for me and helping me, his sister on the other hand was a whole different story. So my experience isn't pleasant.

And Chevy that was very smart if one is good then 5 are better like a pain pill--oh yea that makes sense. Silly goose.

I hope this Holiday week-end is bright and happy for all and the start of a beautiful season. As it should.

Oh Wow Cammi!  You should have drowned them!  Eeeeks!  I can't imagine living like that!   And that XHusband had way too many kids!  They probably had to fend for themselves?   Were they by all by one woman?  He must have been a pistol!  Did they ALL live with him?  And you?

Glad you are not WITH that person....  just check with me before you go doin' something like THAT again!  Okay?  xoxoxo

Camille, no wonder that marriage didn't work!  Sounds like the nightmare of marriages.

Cute cartoon with the eggs, Chevy.  I could still enjoy dyeing eggs.  It was always a lot of fun.

Gorgeous day so far this morning.  DH and I stayed in bed until almost 8 am.  I'm having a few cups of coffee.  Then I'll go for a walk.  Looking forward to a day at home.  DH will play golf this afternoon so I'll have the house to myself.

Sandra, Chicago is a great city with lots of things to do.  I enjoy walking down Michigan Avenue.  One winter we were visiting dh's parents in Oak Forest, a suburb of Chicago.  Other relatives were in town for the holiday and some of us went into the city.  There were lots of women on Michigan Ave. wearing their fur coats. That was fun to observe.   We had lunch in China Town.  I don't like American Chinese restaurants but this was "real" Chinese food.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

Chevy, you are a hoot. I needed a laugh!  Cami, I married a husband from hell once and his two chillins were not pleasant!  Makes me very fortunate to have who I have now!

Still hating this whole chest healing look. I see my PS on Monday. It seems longer but it will have only been a week and a half out from removing TEs and putting in implants. One side, BC side,  swollen up to my collarbone and still feels like a baseball is under my arm. The other side is still, well, nothing matches. I know all these scars have a permanent home but some of them look like wedges, big, fat, peeling wedges. Touching this whole mess with lotion is just yucky and I've taken advice and have not been using a mirror. Been keeping up with the other Forum on expanders but just keep coming back here! You guys let me vent! Plus, you sneak in words of wisdom and it helps.

I will look forward to seeing Chicago. It sounds like so much fun! This fall, I think DH and I are going to do the drive through the beautiful fall leaves in the north. So, those of you up there send me the scoop as we get closer so I make sure I get to the right places. The out of the way small places are usually the best!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend....I started on desserts early!

Chevy - I remember that purple stuff.  It got all over your clothes & the stain never came out.  I think it was called Gentian Violet.

Cami - re: the dry pudding recipe - even my 44 years old son asked for that recipe and they make it regularly.  Like Chevy I don't use nuts.

Lost - keep on coming back.  We're happy to have you.

I played ChickenFoot all afternoon and lost my shirt even though we only play for a penny a point.  Well - maybe lost $1.50.  I have no grandchildren nor will I ever have any, so while I love your stories - it's kind of hard not to feel sorry for myself sometimes.  Oh well - nothing new.  My only son & DIL live in Northern California so I'm cooking one chicken breast with roasted potatoes & carrots for Easter and I'll read a good book while I eat.  I used to dye eggs by myself but not this year.  The good thing is that means I won't be tempted by Easter candy either.

If I want to feel younger
and look younger, then it's only natural that part of my daily routine is to
laugh more. Laughing gives the muscles of my face, chest, and abdomen a workout.
A hearty laugh stimulates my heart rate, causes me to breathe deeply, and
releases happiness hormones, my endorphins. Laughter is one of the ways I
express my gratitude to God. As I laugh, I release the gladness of my soul into
the environment--creating something that's good for me and good for all those
    around me.image

Minus -- Sorry to hear that you don't have grand-children.  Sometimes, it can be for the best is we only knew it, so I always think if the good Lord doesn't give us something we really, really want and long for, there is probably a good reason.  I'm not sure that statement would necessarily make anyone feel better, but I have learned over the years to "be careful what I ask for" most of the time.

I still have more work to do on my computer so can only get in here.  Almost everything else of off limits.

One more work half day and then dinner at my cousin's.  So tomorrow will be good.

    Blessings

Happy spring day and Happy Easter.

After DD#2 "canceled" our Easter plans, she decided to host anyway...we will bring brunch to CT and DD #3 from MA will join us.  Bittersweet, as DD#3 and DH are planning to separate.   I know, I mentioned this a few days ago  .I had my precious grandaughters overnight with their dad who was visiting on Long Island.  I held it together...had a great time with the girls (6,3) but completely fell apart when they left.
Now am up stuffing eggs for a grab bag and gathering DD's birthday gift ..

I have faith...it will all work out somehow.

    Hugs and peace to all
