Another beautiful fall day here yesterday, so a nice walk at lunch, followed up work with a trip to the gym for legwork and run/walk intervals.  Then tried a new restaurant in town with hubby.  Another beautiful day, but can't justify the time for a walk since I had a rather lengthy dentist appt. this morning and need to get some work done.

Congratulations on the new baby, Kindergarten!

I have that same cold too....blah!

Did my circuit training this morning, had a meeting this afternoon & we are going to a potluck dinner tonight. I am supposed to bring the dessert, so I made a scratch cake (from a recipe I hadn't used for years). My cooking skills have apparently gone downhill (from lack of use) and the frosting is all lumpyish. I have decided I will disguise that fact (and perhaps the taste of the cake as well) by dumping a big scoop of ice cream on top of each serving & drizzling the whole thing with chocolate syrup.

Good for you M0mmyof2 and congratulations on the arrival of a new grandson Kindergarten.  Claire, glad you had a good time in NYC.  I went to a Inner Wheel meeting tonight and to make a bc presentation and then afterwards, handed a £365 cheque made out to Pink Ribbon Pilates.  I also took flyers to be colored copied before the meeting to Staples and when the woman at the register saw what it was for she halved the cost.  ThumbsUp

3 mat Thursday -Body balance, pink pilates and yoga today.

Been getting to the gym or walking outside every day except took off Sunday.  Getting colder here as well so outside walking will soon stop (can't take the wind in my face).  Need the gym more anyway as working on weights feels really good.  Did watch one class which did not seem too difficult for my hips so may try it next week.  Will see.

    Night my sculpted friends.

I came home and slipped into something comfortable....my duck hunting shoes....and went for a very soggy walk. Feel better for it. Still dragging from jet lag which with data entry is a terrible combination.

Still have meat borscht left, so having that for dinner. Got some more sour cream, dill is still good, and I have bread in the feezer which I will slice up and place under the broiler. Works just great with a bit of butter on top.

Early night as lots to do in the AM. I am so glad that the weekend is upon us. My own bed is beckoning, and I want to get back on my bicycle. I can hear it calling me. And hoping for some sunny patches.

Still glorious color here, and can't wait to see that in sunlight. Good night. Happy All Hallows Eve!!!! - Claire

10/30- did 35 minutes on the bike at the gym. I have discovered the cross country/elliptical machines really hurt my feet too much so I am going to ask my trainer if there is another machine I can do for fat burning besides the bike. If not, the reclined bike works just fine and allows me to exercise without the foot problems. Arimedex makes my feet stiff and sore, ugh!

Tomorrow is cardio/core day and my trainer says she is upping my game. Wish me luck!

Haven't been on here this week - Cheryl's cold made it all the way
East and got me, so no exercise for me all week! Sad We
have a 10K race coming up Sunday, so I've got to be feeling better by
    then!

Kindergarten - congrats on the new grandbaby! Claire - sounds like a great trip to NYC. Jazzy - I had the same problem with using an elliptical when I was on letrozole - my feet would really hurt after half an hour or so.  I found that just before I put on my shoes, if I used both hands to really massage, bend and flex my feet and toes  I was able to go a lot longer before it got uncomfortable.  I'd also do the same thing afterwards when I took my shoes off.  Odie - you'd asked about cold weather running gear advice - I'm not the best one to ask because ever since chemopause and letrozole, I'm a walking hot flash.  I don't even bother with long sleeves till it gets below 40!  So I do fine with cheap running stuff from Kohls or Target.  I did splurge and bought a quality 3/4 zip running top - I like it because I can wear a shirt under it and when I start to get hot I can unzip the neck for a bit of cooling.  Then when I get even warmer I can take it off and tie it around my waist - since it's so light I don't even notice it.  Another thing that some people do is buy old sweats from a thrift shop to wear when you're milling around in the cold before the race starts, and when you get warm you can just toss them off and not worry about them.  Some races even make arrangements to collect the castoff clothes and donate them to homeless shelters or Goodwill.  I also have a pair of very lightweight mittens I wear - my hands get cold even when the rest of me isn't.  You can buy special running gloves and mittens, but I just picked up some cheap regular mittens so if I lose them, it's not a disaster.

Congratulations to all the San Francisco Giants fans out there!  ThumbsUp   As for my Nats, wait till next year!!!!

10/31- today was cardio/core day with my personal trainer. We re-measured 2 months into this program and I have gone from 51% body fat around my organs to 40%. This is huge, and where the risk lies with cardiovascular disease and of course, excess fat is not good for our bc reoccurrence either. Our goal is to get me to the low 30s....

The other key measurement that supports this I have lost 5 inches around my waistline as well (which goes along with the reduction in internal body fat). My waistline went from 45 to 40 and now we focus on another five to get me in the healthy range at 35. Thirties are the magical number here. I am going to extend my program until end of the year to further strengthen and also focus on more cardio work outs to loose weight too.

    Ruth- dang, that is cold!

I did an old Jillian Michaels 20 minute DVD (only beginners) that used to do me in on Tuesday as I did not feel like going to gym. I was surprised that I only needed about 30 seconds of breaks during it , much less than pre BC so the regular exercising must be doing something. Wednesday and Thursday were all work so did nothing but I went to the gym this morning and did an hour on the treadmill followed by a few machines.

Still eating too much chocolate.DH is still no help and somebody brought chocolate covered potato chips in to the office yesterday, strange but good, sweet and salty. Whats a girl to do?!!

Hi everyone, I'm finally back home after visiting my parents in Mexico for two weeks. Even though I did not do any "formal" exercise over there but I did a lot of walking since my parents do not drive any more that plus the warm weather accounted for some "steamy walks". I haven't read the posts since I was last here but I'm sure you guys have kept busy.

    Ran 5 miles this afternoon.

I went to my rowing class this morning. I opted to stay inside and row on the erg because it was 38 degrees out and my hands and feet can't take that cold due to the neuropathy from the Taxol. So I went inside and rowed 5,000 meters. But some of the folks in the class gave me some suggestions that might help with the cold. I'm going to make some pogies (like mittens with holes in the side for the oar handle to go in) to keep my hands warm and get some long tights. So next weekend I will get back on the water!

Keep up the good work everybody!

I have been doing marathon sleeping as have something that takes it all out of me. Will get in a walk later, but that's it.  I managed a conference call and something that had to get out yesterday, and then came home and hit my bed.

In the middle of all this, got the terrible news that my lifelong friend has kidney cancer. Not entirely surprised because something has not been right for at least a couple of months and then blood in urine which I knew had not been diagnosed correctly. Unfortunately, it seems quite advanced, but won't know more for a few days. Fortunately, she has lots of people around her to help out.

So I am feeling bummed, not to mention dragging. I was so happy last night not to be at the opera. I have so much work, and will try to get some done this afternoon. But think this is a weekend I will gladly write off.

Not hungry either and that is always a sure sign that something is amiss..... - Claire
