Claire, sorry about your friend.  That's tough news to hear, and as we have related in the past, harder to hear when you understand it personally.

Welcome back from your vacation, Aurora.

Lilac, do they not celebrate Halloween in the UK, or is it only crazy Americans who wear outfits to work out?  Not calling you crazy, just repeating!

Rhody its cold here too.  Earlier in the week it was so nice and warm but 43 today and windy, but I heard the voices and went walking.  51 minutes around the lake and ran three times in that walk/run.

So sorry to hear about your friend Claire. Hope you feel better too.

Great job everyone. We sure are a hearty bunch!

Today's exercise was walking while running errands. I now have my gear ready for the 5k in the morning. Should be in the 40's and blustery with wind at race time. Guess we will have to run to stay warm........LOL

Good luck  with the 10k Mary! Wishing you your best time yet.

Claire- I am sorry to hear of your friend's kidney cancer. I hope they can help her with some good treatments.

Did about 15 minutes of stretching/toning and 30 minutes on the treadmill.  It was rainy and very chilly today...I'm glad I can walk inside!

    Hello everyone,

Just popping in to say, it's always lovely to read the posts here on this thread. Exercise is so important for our physical and mental well-being but, (as we all know) it can be hard to stay motivated. You all do such a good job at updating
each other and supporting each other to stay with it.

    Keep it up!

Odie, I was not sure if you ran this weekend or next and it's now - wow - go Odie, you too Mary!  Claire, so sorry to read your friends sad news and hope treatment can help.  TwoHobbies T/T is mostly for the urban or suburban areas so that is where that it does happen.  I've taken my son a few times to the states when he was younger to see and experience the haul you can come back with a night out going door-to-door. We live rural with no children on this part of the road (or even further down for that matter and at nearly 16 our son is too old) yet no country goes as OTT with Halloween like America. A friend told me yesterday that they work in a company that employs 400 and were told on Thursday they could come in costume to work on Friday - only one person did - a overweight devil in a red tight all-in-one body suit who felt rather silly for doing so.  Umm, what did you dress up as?

Got to early morning yoga class with son and feeling good in my bod!

    Edited to add: Thanks mods!

    Good luck to the runners!

I still have that stupid cold and think I will give in & do something very light today.

Claire, so sorry about your friend. One of my good friends, whose advanced ovarian cancer has been in remission for the last two years, has gotten a suspicious scan & will be on her way back to Mayo again. Hopefully the doctors will have successful treatment plans for both of our friends. Very scary.

Thanks mods. I think most of us here exercise, not only to be healthier, but because it makes us feel better, look better, and we can eat more! We are 'girls who wanna have fun', and exercise helps us to be able to do so! Happy

Today's exercise was completion of my first 5k run in cold and windy conditions. The run was easier than I expected so I guess all the exercise is paying off. Met a couple of truly inspiring ladies and think I burned extra calories trying not to freeze to death when not running.

Came home and made crockpot chicken tortilla soup for tonight's dinner.

Have another 5K run later this month on Thanksgiving day. My motto, run to eat....Loopy

    Happy Sunday all.

Great job, odie! Shivering for sure burns calories.

My friend's daughter just ran the NYC Marathon in 2:47:28, beating her PR by two minutes!  She's the same girl who ran so well in Boston last year & is seriously considering the Olympic Trials.

I did an easy Denise Austin toning DVD & cleaned out the rest of the flower beds.

Thanks mods.  I know I enjoy coming here even if I've been off for a week, or two, or three, to my many friends..  Non-judgmental and motivating.

Yesterday, did stat bike, treadmill and upper body weights at the gym.  Went back after church today and ran in the pool for 45 mins.

    Night my sculpted friends.

Holy Cow! Another update on our little North Dakota (presently living in Seattle) runner. She finished 21st of all the women and was the 10th American woman to cross the finish line!!!

And to think that I walk with her mother....we should be going faster! Loopy

yesterday I did an hour on the treadmill, about 1/3 jogging during the 5k run bit then a few weights.

Today I just cleaned the fishtank as my hip is a bit sore from the walking and jogging then watched tv but burned lots of nervous energy watching F1 racing and now watching football LOL.

    wow, Ruth that is impressive.

I ran my 5k today in the freezing, blustery weather and got my best time ever. My usual pace is 13-13.5 min miles but today I ran 12 min miles. Running against the wind was challenging at times but I am very pleased.

A friend took a picture of me nearing the finish line and DH is the one behind me cheering me on...(it doesn't really look like I was running but trust me, I was!)

Did my 10K and geez it was cold!!  Odie - you know how cold it was Sunday morning!!  41 degrees at race time, but with a nice gusty wind that took the windchill down to freezing!  Shocked  It was a very hilly course, and although my time wasn't improved that much, what I really noticed was the hills.  Or rather, what I noticed is that I didn't notice them that much.  I used to HATE hills, but after the running clinic, I was more annoyed at the hills rather than hating them - even though one of the hills was a steady uphill for close to a mile.  I know I would have been walking by the end of that hill before, but yesterday I just kept chugging along, and all of a sudden I was at the top!  So all that interval work and coaching on how to strategize a race really helped.  Next up - a 5K Turkey Trot on Tkg day, and a Jingle All the Way 5K in DC.

Here's a selfie of DH and me just before the race - as you can see we're bundled up!

Odie and Ginger - congrats on your runs!!  Great picture, Ginger!  And Ruth - congrats on your friend's daughter - wow.

And some great news - I had my DEXA last week, and it was NORMAL!!!!!!  I was thrilled.  Before dx, I always had plus T values.  After chemo and 2 years on letrozole, I had mild osteopenia, then two years later my T-values dropped even more and I was worried about slipping into full blown osteopenia.  Devil  I've been off letrozole for 16 months now, and was really anxious about the test.  I was hoping that at least my values stabilized or at best, possibly improved a bit.  I never expected to be back in the normal range!  So there is hope that damage from AIs can be reversed once you're able to go off of them.  Thanks to all of you for keeping me active and helping to build my bones back.     SillyHeart

Spent an hour this morning working with the foam roller and doing some long yoga stretches to work out race stiffness.

OK I did little today except I did the stair routine at work - 8 flights up, back down and then 6 up, couldn't do two more today! I'm going to blame it on the fact that I had heals but I was pretty out of breath.  And I realized tonight with the daylight savings change I will have to walk at lunch a lot more or finally join the gym that I've been putting off.  It really got dark early today!

Good work, Mary and Ginger.  Oh I'm trying to get into running mode but it hurts so much!  But its inspiring that if I do these intervals now and again, one day it won't feel like I'm dying!  Also great to hear your news on the dexa, Mary!  I worry being on these drugs so glad to hear there is hope on that front.

Laughed about the halloween costume at work.  Its really fun when you have a place where lots of people dress up.  My current workplace is not one of those, so it sounds like something that would happen at my workplace- last minute notice that you can and then one lonely soul dressed up!

Great job Ginger and NatsFan and Mary that's excellent news about your Dexa.

Did 20 mins stat bike, 20 mins treadmill and 30 mins upper body weights at gym tonight.  Will try and do aqual aerobics class tomorrow night.

House cold (me cheap and won't turn up heat) so going curl up with blanket, watch some TV for a few and turn in.

    Night my sculpted friends.

11/3- hour with the personal trainer this morning doing the resistance circuit training. She gave me some specific objectives for my new cardio program this week to burn more fat. I am pressing 85 lbs on the abs machines, which amazes me. My abs were the weakest coming in to this after open abdominal surgery in 2012.

Nats Fan- that is great news on your bone density. I was very slightly osteopenic as I started the Arimidex 20 months ago, and am a bit nervous my bones have deteriorated from the meds. I have a scan in early Dec, and will be seeing my MO in Jan, so fingers crossed. I just know all the exercise must be helping.
