Happy happy birthday Lilacblue!!! Hope you had a wonderful day.

Welcome back Sweet! I have finally reached goal on WW and now must maintain...LOL. Just remember, you did it before and can do it again. Now get to it!!!

    Great WWW picture Ruth.

Exercise for me today was a mere 20 minutes on the Elliptical after a long day at work.

Happy, happy birthday Lilac!!! Michelin star place sounds just ideal. Hope equally great atmosphere, but I don't think many areas beat the English countryside that way. I love that pheasant is plentiful this time of year in England, if you hit the markets. Just so delish.

I am back to exercising today, but a bit slower than normal. That is fine.

I don't know. I find I have to make the exercise match the eating. Why the summer events etc. Plus, I have a routine I do at home. It's about covering basics the easiest way possible. Then a lot of activities I really enjoy. I still have my overhead presses, but broke things up as the first time in a week.

I could never have anyone deliver meals for me. I do front load with vegetables. Tonight's meal is a boneless pork chop, the roasted carrots and potatoes from last week, and frozen peas to go with. So glad to want food again.

Need to finish exercise, then dinner. So thrilled to be FINALLY on the mend. - Claire

Thank you (((All))) for the kind birthday wishes. Enjoyed a easy, relaxing day of
flowers, cards, delicious lunch in a not at all ostentatious restaurant,
in a quaint, charming village. Didn't experience time pass, which for me, is the
sense of being in the moment. On the drive home alongside sheep dotted
fields, the sun broke out after a bit of rain and a arching rainbow set
before us. Rounding off the bonfire evening was a simple supper of
toad in the hole, that darling husband made perfectly. Bump, back to
regular life this morning, got the bins out and not my forgetful son, and thank you again everyone.

For you Aurora, an abridged cut/paste from bonfirenight.net: In 1605,
thirteen young men planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Among
them was Guy Fawkes. To carry out their plan, the conspirators got hold
of 36 barrels of gunpowder - and stored them in a cellar, just under the
House of Lords. Guy Fawkes, was in the cellar of the parliament when
the authorities stormed it in the early hours of November 5th, was
caught, tortured and executed. On the very night that the gunpowder
plot was foiled, bonfires were set alight to celebrate the safety of the
    King - hence, Bonfire Night.

Off to the gym to start 4 mat Thursday, body balance, pink pilates, yoga in village hall and then yoga back at the gym.

Happy Birthday, LB!! Congrats, Odie on making your goal. Sweet, you can lose the weight again and now's the time to do it! It's 5:34 am there!

Have had a hacking cough, too for more than 2 weeks now. It is slowly getting better. Just have to keep drinking. Haven't been moving that much as I'm exhausted from coughing. But finally managed BodyJam last night.

Sweet, it isn't 5 am here, but I hope you have exercised by now Winking

After having that stupid cold for awhile (finally, yesterday I felt 'normal'), one thing I finally remembered to do was to throw out my toothbrush & get a new one.....so if you other 'sickies' haven't done that yet, do so immediately. Gee, I feel bossy thing morning! Smile

Will go to my class and maybe clean the house.......

Sounds like a wonderful birthday, Lilac!

Yes, ma'am - throwing out toothbrush today!!!  Good idea - I'd forgotten to do that.  LB - your birthday sounds perfect, complete with rainbow.  And I had to google "toad in the hole" as it sounded more like something the French would eat, not the Brits.  I was relieved to find that no actual toads were involved in the preparation.  Winking

    Pilates DVD this morning.

Happy Belated Birthday LB, sounds like your day was perfect and I love Toad in the Hole yummmmm. Hey Sweet good to see you back, it's tough when work gets in the way of our exercise but you'll find your way, you've made the first steps and one day when I'm sleepless at 2am I'll give you a nudgeWinking Heidi sounds like you and I have the same cold, I'm fine except for the dry hacking, last night I got out of bed and got the humidifier out of mothballs and had a much better night and new toothbrush on my shopping list Ruth. Sorry abouth the arthritis M0mmy people don't realize how much arthritis hurts.

Last night went to a new class called U Jam, it's not for me was supposed to be urban dance but there really wasn't much dance so I really didn't work up much of a sweat and as my friend said on FB this morning I am spoiled cause the room where we Jam has disco lighting so it's full of atmosphere.

Yeah it hurts. Bad weather really makes it worse for me. I was awake at 3 a.m. with it screaming in my lower back and right hip. Left foot acted up last night so I figured this was gonna happen.

MOmmy, have you tried the old home arthritis remedy of raisins soaked in gin? If not, and you want 'the recipe', I will PM it to you.

Did my class. Here is a lovely quote I just came across (I think we are all Queens!):

Happy belated birthday, Lilac! Glad you had a good day. I walked a mile at lunch yesterday, and got up and used the rowing machine this morning. Was going to walk at lunch but it was pouring down rain. Keep up the good work everyone!

Ruth, I think I asked you this before. Do you get gin breath from the raisins? Or do you take them at night? And can you PM me the recipe too? Thanks!

I'll just repost it. Skip if you've read it before. The gin evaporates, you don't taste it nor will it make you flunk a Breathalyzer Smile When researching, I read that in eating those nine raisins, you get one tiny drop of gin.

    Drunken Raisins-a natural arthritis remedy

To prepare gin-soaked raisin, first empty one box of dried white raisin in a shallow container. Only white or golden raisin should be used for this recipe. Then pour enough gin into the container to cover the raisins.

Cover the container ( but not with plastic, a kitchen towel is good) and keep it covered for 7 – 10 days on the  to allow the raisin to steep in the gin (sitting out, not in fridge).

Allow all the gin to evaporate to leave gin-soaked raisins in the container. These raisins keep well when refrigerated. The popular advice is to take nine of these "drunken raisins" every day. Most users report improvements in arthritis symptoms between 1 – 8 weeks of using this remedy.

    Why it works:

    1.  Golden raisins- the ONLY type of raisins worthy of the  recipe- require sulfur or sulfides in their processing to make them golden. Sulfur is an active ingredient in 2 effective natural arthritis supplenents: glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate. Golden raisins come from sultana grapes and are cultivated under the name Thompson seedless grapes in the United States.

    2.  Sultana grapes contain proanthocyanidins which are  thought to help fight infections and reduce inflammation. Grapes also contain resveratrol, a powerful  anti-oxidant that is being studied for many of it's disease fighting properties.

    3.  Gin is flavored with juniper berries and juniper berries contain Terpinen. Terpinen has anti inflammatory properties. The essential oil that is in juniper berries contains more than 100 compounds including myrcene (an anti oxidant), catechins (anti-oxidant),  and flavanoids (anti oxidant). Test tube studies have shown that juniper berries can inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.  Prostaglandins help mediate an inflammatory response and increase the sensitivity of nerve endings to pain. By inhibiting their production, a reduction in pain can occur.

Made a milk run to the corner store and then over to Dunkin' Donuts for a treat on hubby's orders since he knows that this week I have been either busy with house matters or cooped up because of the weather and my arthritis acting up.

MOmmy - sometimes we all need a treat to keep us going! Sounds like
your DH takes good care of you. Hope Ruth's gin raisin recipe does some good.  Odie - you've been posting about your
boot camp and I keep meaning to ask you more about it. It sounds like a
great program - what kinds of things are you doing? Cheryl - sounds
like you're finally feeling better!  Ruth - orders carried out ma'am - new toothbrush in place and used this morning!

Two mile dawn run this morning around our hilly neighborhood.  Just for fun I decided to push it and go all out for speed to see what I could do, and was rewarded with my fastest mile ever - 11:24!  Yes I know that's slow for real runners, but for me it was positively cheetah-like!  Happy  I guess that running clinic and all the interval training really did some good.

Mary: Congratulations! I can see your beautiful cheetah form now!

LB: Happy Belated Birthday! Sounds like you had a wonderful day.

Cheryl: Wish I had been at your "dance" last night!

Hi All. I caught the cold that's going around on the thread and it turned into a sinus infection so no exercise for me lately. An antibiotic and steroid pack sure do make a difference! Tomorrow I'm hiking with a friend in the mountains. Going to be cool and lots of fun.

    Happy Friday!!!

Did yoga this morning & went for a walk. The weather, which is supposed to go downhill fast this afternoon, was lovely so I decided I better get out & enjoy it while I could (no cheetah running for me though).

    Happy Friday!

Hi all. S&S, I'm with you and need those voices. Just can't get it going but need to so my blood sugar can get back down to an acceptable number. Unlike you I don't like cooking so think I will check out the Diet to Go program. WW worked for me about 15 years ago but was a lot of work and meetings. Don't think I can do WW online; may as well do loseit.com which I will start up again. Maybe do some of their challenges to keep me on track. One goal is to lose a nice number before I see you all in June - can't have you all in mini-bikinis and me in a mau-mau. Sad

Exercise tonight was vacuuming and shampooing carpets. Tomorrow the gym.

    Night my sculpted friends.
