Red glad you are keeping up and found yourself a trainer who listened to you. Oh no Patoo no more banana pudding Sad Odie sorry about your car, but so glad you weren't hurt, that's more important.

Did a two-a-days today, went to Sh'bam this morning and danced and tonight back for Body Combat to fight

So i am about 5 months post exchange. I have kept up with lower body exercises and little upper. I started back this month with TRX and a tabata class. Last night I tried side planks on the TRX, hmm not so good. Nor were the flies. My question to all you veterans, when were you able to comfortably work with your pectoral muscles? Does it come gradually or was there an exercise that helped build strength back in that area?

Okay ladies, I have decided to join your group in the hope that you girls will keep me motivated, inspired and just plain "make me" exercise. Today, I did the 30 minute stretching class @ the gym. I get very bored doing the same routines, so I try to mix it up. I start radiation 12/1 and after I finish that I will be on Arimidex for 5 years. Hearing all the comments about the joint pain from the girls taking it is kind of making me a little uneasy so I thought I should try to get into some kind of routine.

good for you Pita119....I'm trying to avoid all the joint pain too! Just started Femara today.

Did a yoga class this morning. This board is great for self-accountability and motivation. Weekends are hard for me to get to the gym but I try most days unless I have a legit schedule conflict.

    Good luck!

    Nash54,

Motivation is what I'm looking for. I just wish I enjoyed exercising the way I enjoy eating lol. Good luck to you too...you've started & that's the hardest thing to do.

Olaf, yoga, pilates and running have put me well beyond where I was. A slow and steady year is what it took for me to get back to where I was before diagnosis. Welcome to you, Nash54, Pita119 and Jillian777!

Body balance at the gym this morning and yoga tonight with my teen boy.

    Hi LilacBlue,

I'll have no trouble with slow...it's the steady that might take a lot of effort lol.

11/18- still down with my bug, so no exercise today, but hope to get back to the gym tomorrow as this 48 hour bug seems to be moving through. I cancelled my personal training for 8 a.m. tomorrow, but will resume on Friday as scheduled.

    Welcome newbees!

Welcome to the newcomers! Pita119, I too wish I could enjoy exercise as much as I do food...LOL But there is incentive since it does tend to keep the joint pain away.

Cheryl and Wonderland, thank you. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I was not injured. I just hate the hassle of buying a new car when I really liked mine. As if the holiday season is not busy enough. Bawling

Ok, enough whining. Got back on track exercising today by going to bootcamp. Today was a blend of upper body and abs.

    Sweet dreams all.

Odie, glad you are okay!!!! What kind of car are you looking at/for?

Welcome to the newbies!!! Come and join the fun!

I had a super busy day. I subbed, did a 45 Denise Austin pilates DVD when I got home, went to a meeting at 7:00, then dropped off a 'Recovery Bag' to a friend who is having surgery (crossword puzzles, magazines, restaurant gift certificates and, of course, chocolate). I visited with her for awhile and am FINALLY home!

20 minutes of abs (crunches, planks, etc) today. Does sex count as exercise? Winking If, so that was my exercise for yesterday...maybe tonight too. Just began OS so trying to make the most of my estrogen while I still have it

    Hi everyone,

Back from my travels, and must say, it's great to be home. Didn't get that much exercise during the conference, but did walk whenever I could. (I was usually the only one from my group walking, and consequently, the only one who really got to see/experience the place.) However, my friend Nadine and I walked our legs off as both of us love to explore, and were more than up to it. She can't wait for our next adventure. I also got in a swim, which was great fun. But do have to say that it's wonderful to be back in cool temps and back to my life.

Lesson from my travels is to drink mixed drinks or local microbrew unless in a place with great wine. I had way too much bad wine, which wasn't cheap BTW.

Miami Beach was created to be the New World answer to the Riviera in the 1920s, but as seen through the lens of Florenz Ziegfeld. Now, it has a decidedly Latin overlay. Liked Brazilian food best. I was sorry that so much of the original Deco details have been lost in the upgrades. But very fun just the same.

At the conference, I got to learn about some of the work being done to prevent brain mets, particularly in HER2+ patients. Trials will be getting underway soon. So, that is very exciting. Plus, thrilling to learn about the work being done on behalf of primary brain tumor patients.

I was so glad to have new professional duds and look the part. But marred the look a bit by wearing flats. My feet thanked me for that.

For anyone who ever has to plan conferences, DO NOT take away the coffee. I got in major exercise sprinting to make sure I got some before they removed the food/coffee. One time, I had only cream cheese for breakfast as they had taken away everything else. Overall, the food was mediocre at best, but elaborately presented. So just ate enough to fuel myself for the day. Had to do a couple of coffee runs as energy wanes in the early afternoon. Got taken out to some great dinners (with good wine).

Still processing the week, but a major milestone in my life. Now, to face reality and a lot of work. All sorts of catching up to do. Plus, get back on the exercise wagon. Was great to do my weights routine last night. Crunches as soon as I have another cup of tea.

One final treat: it was a great flight back and I got to see 1) the Mississippi Delta which was just spectacular to fly over and 2) the sun setting over the Great Salt Lake. Both were amazing moments and so glad I had a window seat to enjoy them. This was Dallas-Seattle so we flew over vast tracts of nothingness, which I always find so awe-inspiring.

But so glad to be home, and back to my life. - Claire

Welcome to all the newbies and welcome home Claire, sounds like it was a successful conference.

Olaf I think I would be careful on the TRX, you're suspended using your body weight and that puts a lot of pressure on your upper body (this advice from the person who spent so much time trying to get her feet in those straps I just fell on the floor laughing cause I knew I must have looked a sight - I did this in a bootcamp so there wasn't much time but when I finally got into them it was hard holding myself in a plank).

Did Body Jam last night, ended up in the front row, which puts pressure on me to "be the mirror of the instructor" there was a lot of gulping air and deep breathing to hold myself together but I DID IT Loopy

I did an hour of yoga this morning and once I untwisted myself out of the pretzel position I ended up in, I actually felt good. Am waiting for a call as to when my car is finished being repaired and then it will be off to walk 2 miles (no choice with this one) to pick it up.

11/19- recovered from my virusy thing and got moving today. Did an end of the day 30 minute walk in the cold. What I notice now after all the personal training is that I miss it when I cannot exercise.

I will hit my target of 10K steps today once again after doing less the past few days. The Vivofit band is really keeping me watching how much I move or not each day, and motivates me to do more. Tomorrow I hope to get back to the gym for my bike cardio work out!

patoo, where have you ladies met up each year so far? I would love to be able to get together with all of you! Unfortunately can't do California next June. Maybe in 2016 we could do something east coast or Midwest?

I rowed on my machine yesterday for 3000 meters, and did some yoga tonight when I got home from work.

Keep up the good work ladies!

Different ones of us have done Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington D.C. and last year was the 'Traveling Feast', which started in Huntington Beach and ended in San Francisco. We are definitely open to going just about anywhere. Have sisters, will travel!
