Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Thank you for being one of the many blessings that I am thankful for.

Completed a 5k turkey trot run this morning after walking one mile to the race and back home for a total of over 5 miles. Enjoyed a great dinner with family and now ready to turn in for the evening.

    Sweet dreams all.

11/27- busy day making dinner and feeding my visiting family, but everything went well. I was moving all day and put in close to 16000 steps on my Vivofit today! The most since I got this new fitness tracker 2 weeks ago. That included a 25 min walk with my sister after dinner! I was tired but made myself go and am the better for it. Back to the gym in the morning before we go off to play for one more day before they leave.....

No exercise for me today, but I did have a great Thanksgiving! Since I am already looking forward to more pumpkin pie tomorrow, I will need to exercise tomorrow along with it! I thought I would exercise in the afternoon when I took a break from making side dishes, but then my girls started watching a Christmas movie and I started that with them instead. Suddenly, this year especially, I'm feeling like Thanksgiving is barely over and it's on to Christmas!

Gym was open yesterday but pool was not so came home and did 45 mins on treadmill before heading to friend for dinner. Will head to gym again in a while, a different one where the pool is open.

I did some "fork lifting" yesterday with the yummy Turkey dinner DH made while I was at work. Was bad and had a little bit of pie; we rarely do that. This morning I did 5K on my rower, and beat my best time by 30 seconds! I am hoping to complete a Holiday Challenge of logging 100K on an indoor rower between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve. It's a big challenge for me, but if I can get my butt out of bed a little earlier every day then I can work on it before work. Off to a painting class this afternoon with some friends, should be fun. It's called Painting with a Twist, anyone ever try it? You get to bring a bottle of wine and sip while you paint.

    Keep on moving everyone!

Martha....one slice of pie on Thanksgiving? For shame!!! Did you forget that Thanksgiving is a day of feasting, and last time I looked, pie was part of the feast. So you were not being "bad" unless that one slice was half the pie.

As a note, I typically don't gain weight over the holidays even though I eat all the "bad" items. This is because I get my tail out there and move it. Another point is that it's hard to reach for the chips, nuts, dip, or whatever when you are out on the trail. I always make sure I have enough treats not to feel deprived.

I have to go into the office in a bit as thought about all the work piling up and realized that I need to make more headway as certainly won't have time next week. Hopefully, this chilly drizzle will lift and I can get in a ride before it freezes over later today. I will take my cycling duds and do another 20 miles once things clear up a bit.

Tonight's dinner will be an omelet and salad. One of my faves. Then not sure about Saturday. Either time with my guy or a wine release party at the wine bar with additional party upstairs at Old School Pinups (a photography studio that will give a retro look and transform you into the likes of Betty Grable...great fun).

Happy day after Thanksgiving everyone! No, I am NOT shopping unless buying salad counts. Time for that later, and I don't do that painful ritual anyway. - Claire

Odie, well done on completing the 5k turkey trot and Mary, I think you ran one as well? RhodyMMM, good on you for taking up the rowing challengeThumbsUp Michael the plumber was here this afternoon and installed the new kitchen tap I picked out. Funny how a small kitchen change like that, can make a (almost) big difference.

Freestyle step with hand weights and body balance at the gym this morning.

Did the 60 minute, hard FIRM 500 Calorie Workout.....if I would rewind it and do it 4 more times, maybe I would burn off all the extra calories I ate yesterday! Loopy

1 hour water aerobics. I did go into the mall today, not planned because I usually stay far, far away but my neck/shoulder is bothering me so decided to check Brookstone for a personal massager. Was in that store almost an hour trying all the wonderful choices. Finally settled on a chair topper that is GREAT!!! No more visits to the massage clinic. Was priced at $169. on sale for $99. Glad I went. Was worth the 15 mins circling the parking for a spot. It's all set up in one of my lounge chairs. I may never leave home again.

    Night sculpted friends.

hi girls! I just finished wretched chemo that took me out for 2 months. I finally walked today with DH again! I was a totally sedentary person prior to dx and began walkin after. So it really bugged me that i just could not do it. Heck, just walkin down the hall made me queasy. So happy i can begin my new walkin regiment again.

I hope to do more physical activity to prep for surgery....

Patoo, I just went looking on Brookstone trying to find the chair topper massage that you mentioned.  Can you possibly post a pic, or a link?  I could sure use one of those!

    Patoo,

You mentioned that you run in the pool...how is that? I was thinking of doing it but didn't know if it was like running outside.

Glennie19 - http://www.brookstone.com/SHIATSU-SEAT-TOPPER-WITH... let me know if that doesn't work.

Pita - I usually run in-place as in the past I had problems with feet cramping if I ran laps. Also got the cramps when doing water aerobics classes. The last couple of times though I have been able to run laps without a problem which probably is better as you are working against the water but I find I prefer running in place and also use water hand weights to add a little variety. For most people it would probably be extremely boring but for me I just lose myself in mind wandering, watching people pass by outside, solving world problems, etc.

Patoo you were very brave going to the mall, I drove past the mall today the line to the off ramp was backed up for almost a mile, I can't imagine what the parking lot itself was like Loopy Glad you got the massager, Brookstone has some great stuff. Beautiful picture Claire. Congrats Bippy day by day you'll get stronger. Momwriter hope your kiddo feels better.

Had a lovely Thanksgiving, my friend puts on a spread, I don't bother with the turkey, I go straight for the prime rib and lambHappy there were 46 of us and there was enough food for 100, oh and I won $8.00 on the turkey races, it's the only place I know where you go for lunch and dinner and come away with money.

    Did an RPM class today

25 minute walk yesterday. Today I shopped till I dropped. I got to the mall about 9 am and it wasn't crowded at all. In fact I got a good parking spot and I had a little worry about the future of our economy for a while! But by 11 it was packed. It seems the super-enthusiastic are shopping Thanksgiving now and the normal folks come at a reasonable time. I am dead tired but needless to say, I exceeded my step goal today!

I sure hope I burned some calories. My feet are killing me and I could definitely use some kind of massager too!

    Patoo,

Well maybe I'll try running in the pool this week. I try to switch around what I do because I get very bored with doing the same thing. I was doing the water aerobic class a couple of times a week & I loved it but then there was a group of women who started coming & they were always off...when you were supposed to be jumping up, they were coming down & since I always went into the deep part of the pool, I felt like they were drowning me lol. After class, I looked forward to sitting in the hot tub for 15 min but was told by my cardiologist that I shouldn't use the hot tub because it was wreaking havic on my blood pressure so I can't do that anymore.

    Hello all!

Glad to see everyone had a good holiday. My exercise for today was shopping! Mostly the usual errands with some Christmas stuff mixed in. I also bought a me to me gift as there was a great deal on the Vivofit.

    Sweet dreams my sculpted sisters.

Ended up not doing a ride as poured rain all day, and streets/roadways were flooded. It let up after sundown, so I did a 2 mile walk instead. Still have weights to do. The internet gods are still fouling up my life, so have to work tomorrow afternoon to get things fixed. BLECH!!!!

Omelet and salad for dinner tonight. Roasting beets for the salad, and will have a couple of other veggies with the omelet. Omelet will be stuffed with potato, onion, some chanterelles, tarragon and a smidge of truffle oil.

Just updated my anti-virus software, so doing a full scan. Some things never end.

Think I may need to take things out by a bit of lifting...... - Claire

    Beautiful pic, Claire!

Patoo, I checked out that chair topper and it would cost about 200 to deliver on Amazon. I'll have to look for one here.

I'm getting cramps during yoga. I had an abdominal cramp for the first time in my life, plus a back cramp, a hip cramp and a foot cramp. Maybe I should put a bar of soap on the muscle to be stretched, or eat a banana before yoga. Now I have to run to Zumba.

Thanks for the link, Patoo!  That massager looks awesome.  I did the Turkey Trot on Thurs,,, walked 2 miles for charity,,, and did my prescribed weights from PT. Yesterday I did nothing!  Today I'm hitting a craft show, but will hit the gym on the way home for cardio.  Then PT weights when I get home.   I belong to low cost gym, $10 a month, so no pool.   Would like one for variety,, but can't seem to make myself pay $50 a month for the big gym in town!

Heidi, tonic water might help too.

I woke up in a "BLAH, I don't want to exercise!!!" mood, but knowing I'd check in here made me do it anyway (although it didn't make me enjoy it). Anyway, I did a Cardio Dance DVD with the FIRM girls & pilates with Denise Austin. Now I am off to do as many of my million errands as I can. We are going to a wedding at 4:00, so need to get moving!

Inspired: Great to hear from you again!

Patoo: So sorry to hear about your diabetes. Glad to hear you started Metformin.

Hi Everybody! I've been busy with 2 Thanksgiving get togethers. Plus on Thanksgiving Day we celebrated my dh's 60th birthday AND it was 8 years ago on November 27 that I had my mastectomy. Lots of reasons to party!

Just returned from my fast walk/run. It felt wonderful.

I awoke to snow, just enough to make everything glorious once the sun came out. So did my 5k route as a WALK as footing was slick in places. Just glorious, and the world was bright as only a snowy day can be. Ruth....your day sounds more fun than mine which features a conference call to get to the bottom of the website malware. Hoping to be done in time for my fun evening in Seattle including meeting up with a friend I haven't seen in some time.

Well done Glennie19 on the turkey trot! HeidiHill, I sometimes get cramps in yoga (especially the odd stomach one) and read magnesium can also help to reduce cramping. Calcium and potassium need to be supplemented together. The Calcium helps absorption of the potassium. At least a ratio of 4 to 1, Ca to K. Hydration is important too.

Five miler this afternoon which was sunny, chilly and clear - a remarkable change.

hi all and welcome Bippy625.  Wrapped up a HUGE project at work yesterday and also managed to finish a thousand-page book in time to get it back to the library today, so been off the boards this past week.  Haven't done as much walking as usual so will get out this afternoon.  Nice crisp day with a bright blue sky.

Martha, TS is Wyndham.  I love the mountains, more than the beach!  (sorry my heat-seeking friends..)

Wonderland, how far are you from Wilkesboro?  I'm thinking about Merlefest next April.  Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn are playing on 4/23 and so is Hot Rize.  That's the band I saw last week at the Stoughton Opera House.  They play at festivals with thousands of people, but I was fortunate enough to see them in a small (beautifully restored) venue.  They came out after the show to meet fans and sign copies of their new CD.  I got four signatures and four handshakes.  What a class act!

Badger, I prefer the beach but would love to do the mountains one year. Been trying to get family to do mountains for years but they are sand bunnies.

Glennie, these for the neck and shoulder are also great (part of why I spent an hour in Brookstone!) http://www.brookstone.com/endeca/search_results.js...

Pita, my gym pool is only 4.6" at its deepest so no deep water aerobics. I also like to do the hot tub after but only stay in for about 5 minutes because of worries about elevating body temp and lymphedema. Same for the sauna, max 5 mins. Glad they don't have a steam room because I love them.

Taking a 'me' day today and not getting out of my jammies but will hop on the treadmill some time today just to keep up my momentum.

I love the mountains too and don't forget my friend who lives in the mountains of Tennessee keeps offering us her home which is 90 miles outside of Nasville, she's on VRBO and she rents it out all the time and there is a ton of room. Wonderland you certainly have much to celebrate.

Did Body Combat this morning with (sorry to do this to you Ruth on a blah day) the wonderful Eduardo, had to drive an hour north and there was an accident on the freeway so for miles it was a crawl, I was late but only a couple of minutes and as you can see I sure did work up a sweat
