Christmas story: Ds about 8 y/o. Asks me if there's a Santa. I think ----oh my. I reverse the question. On Christmas morning you have presents from mom, dad, and Santa.  If Santa doesn't exist what happens on Christmas morning? I asked son to think about it for the day and I would ask for his answer in the evening. That evening when I asked for his response as to whether Santa existed, his answer was "YES"..............Loved it, showed he could use logic :)

For years my DH would don extra pillows and stuff himself into a Santa suite for the ARC children' Christmas party. I do face painting and crafts. My DH is tall 6ft 3 and rail thin, with bright blue eyes. So when he has on the fluffy white beard he makes a pretty good Santa -with the pillows. He signs and this helps with the deaf and hard of hearing DD kids. Anyway, the first year we did it, we didn't tell our oldest daughter who is MR, autistic and deaf that Dad would be doing this. So Dad disappears and in comes Santa! My DD is thrilled hops up on Santa's lap signs what she wants and leaves. Later she told Dad "you missed Santa! Where have you been!?" She had zero idea it was Dad! My other kids lost it. We showed her pictures and she studied them... hmmm ?? No it's SANTA! What a hoot.

Similar story when my son was three. My twin had done clowning for several years. They were all from Michigan, we were in Ohio. After the clowning my dad said to my sister you missed the clown. He didn't know it was her. :)

Love these...and the stories. My favourite movie is "A Christmas Story" and a friend in the US sent me the DVD since we can't get it there. So that made her my hero. But she's upped her hero status in a huge way - she got a full sized leg lamp and it's in her living room window! Now I want one. :)

So many great ones! Julie I love, love, love the Christmas tree solution. I am going to send that to all my cat friends!

Speaking of neat ideas I happened across this on Twitter this morning:

"just realized in 6 years it's going to be the 20s again so I propose we bring back swing music and jazz attire please"
