Happy New Year everyone!
Nothing that exciting here as that will wait until I am over this head cold. I did my exercising, sneezing and all. But early nights and suspect this evening will be the same. I hate dragging around.
Oops....my system check up has revealed problems, so off to try to fix some of them. Isn't technology wonderful? On migrating back to PCs, this was just mentioned in a Wall Street Journal article. Tablets are great up to a point and wonderfully portable. But for me at least, they don't replace my laptop. And certainly not for someone who does things like data entry/creates online mailings/research reports in PowerPoint.
Looking forward to the greatest year ever! Happy, happy NEW YEAR!!!! - Claire

Candi, welcome! I just joined this thread, too.
NatsFan, congrats! 7 years!!! That is so fantastic.
Ginger, I hope I'll be saying the same thing about myself after completing the C25K program.
I haven't exercised yet today, but I'm planning on walking to at least one of my appointments today, if not both, which will give me abut two miles of walking. Happy NYE, everyone!

Congratulations Mary!
Found out yesterday that Tina, friend and instructor as well has step on today and Friday, covering for other instructor until Next Monday when new 2015 class schedule goes into effect. On the way to the gym, I picked up a bottle of champagne and cute NY bottle bag and presented it to Tina. Quaked her duck! Ran into yoga teacher at Waitrose this afternoon and she said she is on for tomorrow at 4 as the gym extended opening hours to 6 so, Romney Marsh leg o'lamb will be on the table at 1 o'clock with 91 year old neighbor Cliff (lost his wife of 65 years Nov.14) joining us and afterwards, off to gym for first yoga class of 2015.
Freestyle step class this morning - taking all the step I can until the change but you know what, change is good and inevitable.

gym closes today at 6 I will try to get there before then to work out! Also, I use a wonderful app called 'standup'. It gives you various stretches for your body and you can set the alarm to go off at different intervals throughout the day. This is really great if you have a job and sit all day or if you are not able to do a workout but just need to stretch. Try it and let me know what you think.
Happy New Year!

(For those who are new here, when I mention WWW, I'm talking about Walking Wednesday Women, a group of retired teachers who meet every Wednesday morning, walk for an hour & eat for two). This morning, WWW walked at the Civic Center where they were setting up for a car show on the main floor. Yes, we got permission to take the photo. No, they did not allow us to take it for a test drive!

As we end the old year & start the new, I wanted to let you guys know that you are among the people in my life for whom I am deeply grateful. May 2015 bring good health and happiness to us all!

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and also extend my gratitude for your friendship and support, in helping carrying me through the days when I did not want to work out. You all are an inspiring bunch.
I haven't exercised yet today, but will be going soon. Finishing up a cup of hot green tea and waiting for the rain to stop. We got a new cat last Friday, who hasn't been out yet to see us - just very quick dashes to the box and back. She is 5 and had been at PetSmart for 10 weeks. I will post when I can get a still moment with her. She is in the bedroom, also known as her "starter room" according to an article I read. She is a calico with a gray mask like marking around her eyes. We are thinking of calling her: Missterious LOL
Make it a great day and an amazing year ladies! Love you all!

Happy New Year everyone! Love this supportive group here! Everyone's doing so great in their exercise. I went to a yoga class today and did 40 on elliptical and treadmill yesterday. I've been meeting my fitbit 10,000 steps and will up it soon. I may get back to running and like that people have been using couch to 5K. I'll probably start to get back in shape in gym and then bring it outside when it gets warmer.
Natfan- DH and son play hockey. I grew up watching hockey. It's so hard to follow at first, I'd say just keeping your eye on the puck is a challenge! Otherwise you can decide to you want to see great offense or great defense and focus on that. Jealous that you are going. My son would love that so much!
Cassie- great to hear you are happy with your fitbit. It's just that extra nudge that I need without having to pay for a trainer. I see it's already 2 and I better get out before it's dark.
Ruthbru- what a fun picture- something tells me you are a big part of making WWW happen.
Happy New Year!

Cheryl, I think you'd be a great backup dancer for JLo. She doesn't know what she is missing out on!
Nats, congrats on the 7 years and many more. How far you have come since that day.
Ruth, I can almost see the wind in your hair! Great photo.
Welcome to the group Candi and thanks for the app suggestion. Will definitely check it out.
Today's exercise was a nice 45 minute walk on the treadmill plus more laundry. Will do some Yoga and stretching exercises in a bit.
I also want to thank each one of you for your friendships and encouragement to keep moving. Wishing everyone peace, prosperity and good health in 2015. To those venturing out this evening, please be careful.

Inspired - you're so smart to give your new kitty time and space to come out on her own - I bet she's out and about in no time. Absolutely post a picture when you can. Ruth - VROOOOM, VROOOOM!! Candi - that stretch app sounds interesting - will definitely have to check it out. Momwriter - thanks for the hockey-watching help! I don't watch a lot of hockey, but I love watching the Winter Classic every year. When we heard it was coming to Nats Park, and as Nationals season ticket holders we were given the opportunity to buy year's tix before they went on sale to the public, we lost no time in grabbing them! I can't wait!
Be safe tonight everyone and Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to Candi. This is a great community of encouragement here.
Jazzy its funny you mention that yoga class and commemorating the year and starting off a new year. I had decided to make sure I exercise both days as a symbol of closing out the year in a good direction and starting out the year in a good direction.
I did a 30 minute run/walk around the lake. It's sunny but the wind chill was 1 so it was a challenge. I was warmly dressed but even with a scarf its hard to keep your face warm. I hadn't planned to do any running today but that cold make me want to shorten my time outside so I decided I wouldn't feel guilty if I got more bang for my buck by running.
I'm in for the evening now. I don't have champagne but I have sangria and a healthy dinner. Will catch up on Marco Polo tonight and snuggle under the blankets.
Health, Happy New Year everyone!

Badger great minds think alike cause first thing I though when I saw this weeks WWW pic was "well look who's behind the wheel"
. LB as much as we don't like it, yes change is good, I'm losing one of my Sh'bam classes starting next week but I have found Grit, didn't think I'd like it, tried it and fell in love with this crazy push yourself till you think your heart is going to explode out of your chest for half an hour class, yum to the Leg of Lamb add roasted parsnips and I'll pull up a chair to your table
Mary 7 years ago when you were just starting out on this journey would you have ever thought that you'd end up with a basement full of women who met here on BCO, the silver lining to this insipid disease is that we have all become a part of each others lives and each and every one of you holds a special place in my heart.I am going out to have a New Years Eve dinner with friends but don't want to stay out late as I don't like being on the road on NYE. It is so cold here, you'd all probably laugh at what we call cold but all I can say is brrrrrr I'm breaking out the winter woolies.
Danced my way out of 2014 with Sh'bam this morning and I'm going to fight my way into 2015 tomorrow morning as I going to what is being called a Combatathon.
My friends, I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone! My PET results show no sign of metastasis! And all three lesions are showing a ton of shrinkage, which is exactly what we wanted to see so that surgery will be more successful. I couldn't have asked for much better news today.

I walked today and will use the treadmill tomorrow for the C25K program. I'm ready for a great new year!

Great news, Cassie and nice to be starting off 2015 with that good news. Yeah!

First off, Congrats CassieCat! Wow, what awesome news to get - now you can really start the New Year super charged.
I like what someone said, about ending the year with a workout and starting the New Year with one, to set the tone. I decided to do the same, and I'm glad I read that before blowing off the workout. I did 6 miles tonight. Now we are getting ready to go have tostadas!

Have a very nice evening everyone, and Happy New Year!

Cassie - Congrats on your scan results - that is awesome!!
Candi - welcome and way to go with your weight loss!
Mary - Congrats to you, too on being 7 years out - it must feel awesome!! We were in DC on the 22nd, so I guess Bao Bao must have come down from the time we were there and then went back up the tree afterwards. I don't follow Twitter, but I told my daughter about the link. We did notice you can watch the feed on the internet that the researchers watch on TVs. It's the Giant Panda Cam in case anyone is interested http://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/webcams/giant-pa...
Hope the link works!
Yesterday I got a workout moving lots of stuff around in our bonus room. Trying to get rid of some things we aren't using any more so we can clear the clutter! Today I did my stretching/toning and the treadmill. Thank goodness for Netflix and "Everybody Loves Raymond" because I laugh my way through my workout.
Ruth - I'm taking notes on the DVDs you have mentioned - they sound like fun! And loved your WWW picture!!! I enjoy seeing those every week!
Happy New Year to all!!! Have a great night and stay safe if you are out traveling!

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad to be on this thread - you are all so motivating and encouraging. I can't imagine going through breast cancer without this site, actually.
I'll be doing week 2, day 1 of the c25k program later today.

Keep at it CassieCat! Roasties Cheryl and we would have loved to have you with us. Kathy, love the report from Vegas - lucky you!

Cassie congratulations on the good test result!!
Did an amazing 75 minute Body Combat class this morning, of course undid all the good by going out to breakfast afterwards and now really "feeling" my arms from all those hooks and upper cuts.

Wonderful news, Cassie! So happy for you!
Mary: Congrats on 7 years out!
Hi Everybody and Happy First Day of the New Year. It's been such a pretty day. Dh, ds, and I went for a nice, long fast walk/jog.

Mary, congratulations on the 7 year anniversary! That is very encouraging! Slept in a bit this morning and then got on the rowing machine and did 3500 meters. Signed up for a January virtual rowing machine challenge. The team is folks that I row with on Saturdays, so I have to answer to people that I know, not just anonymous folks. Hope that will be motivation to do more!
Happy New Year to all of us!
Martha

1/1- I did 30 min of resistance training, followed by 30 min on the bike today. With the shortened gym hours today and getting there later than expected, I felt I wanted more so I went for an end of the day 30 min walk (cold, but good). Triple work out to start my new year!

Great news Cassiecat!!! Happy New Year to everyone!
Sounds like everyone is starting the year off right...I took down the Christmas tree and decorations before going to my usual Thursday night boot camp.

went to the gym with my husband today walked on the treadmill at an incline of 7.5 and speed of 3.7 which is slower than my norm. Trying to get back to inclie of 15 and speed of 4.0 to 4.2. Although I feel it was all for naught because I ate really bad today lots of French fries, fried chicken wings (3) and popcorn. I feel like I need to drink a gallon of water.
