Happy Birthday to Kindergarten today & Patoo earlier in the week!!!
Yesterday I did Cheryl's Body Combat 49 in the morning & then was busy the rest of the day (watching the Rose Bowl parade, football, putting puzzles together in front of a fire, eating macaroni and cheese in my sweatpants). I am excited because what Cheryl sent me is a whole LesMills Combat program like you see advertised on TV; 6 workouts, the boxing gloves, Nutrition Guide (which I will never use because it nowhere mentions cake
) etc. etc.. Since, when I do the LesMills DVDs I already have, I am smiling and thinking 'this is fantastic', it will be fun to add them into my routine. I believe you should exercise whether you feel like it or not; but when you find things that give you that high Mary described the other day, whether it is yoga, running, Zumba, walking, whatever.......then you have hit the jackpot!0 -
Happy New Year! I'm hoping I can join you here
I was dx'd back in May with Stage II, ER/PR- Her2+ 2 cm with node involvement. Having completed Taxol, Perjeta and AC, I'm currently on Herceptin until summer and have 7/19 rads to go. I am starting to work out again (although I walked a lot through active treatment). My husband and I bought a rower for Christmas. What a workout! And, I start LiveStrong on Jan 13th, which is my last day of rads. I was a "lucky" one who lost weight during chemo. That said, I also lost stamina, muscle mass, and coordination. So, I'm looking forward to getting back on track.I'm a 5th grade teacher in Mass. and a mom of 2 kids - 13 and 11. I look forward to getting to know each of you!
Linda

Ruth - middle school scares me - LOL
Although in some districts 5th is in MS. I look forward to getting to know all of you. I'm excited to begin the next chapter of recovery. It is so much more hopeful than the rest, I think. 0 -
Cassie - congrats on the great report! What a way to kick off 2015. Kindergarten - what a great trip to Vegas! Sounds like everyone is getting off to a great New Year's with exercise. And welcome Linzer!!
We had a wonderful at the Winter Classic hockey game yesterday - what an event! It was cold and sunny and perfect! It was a thrilling game, which the Washington Capitals won with just 12 seconds left. It was so much fun to be there.
There were all kinds of pre-game activities outside the ballpark before the game, with games, music, etc. Inside the park, they had totally transformed the field. There was a miniature Reflecting Pool in front of a miniature Capitol on the field, and the players entered that way to much fanfare. And to really make the atmosphere right, there was even real snow all on the field! There were concerts by military bands, plus Billy Idol did a pre-game min-concert and Gavin DeGraw and Lee Greenwood did songs during the intermissions. There was even a F-16 flyover at the end of the National Anthem - I love flyovers. Here are a some pictures - the last picture is of us all bundled up! After the game, rather than fight the crowds trying to get into ballpark Metro station, we walked back to the Capitol and caught the Metro at Union Station, so I even got in two miles of walking.
Which is a good thing after I splurged on that Italian Sausage! 0 -
Very fun pictures, Mary!
Linzer, little kids scare me. I ONLY sub middle school.....of course, that probably means I am certifiably insane!

I have been moping around with a head cold, but still got out to do my walks, as dragging too much for cycling. This, from yesterday which is a short walk from where I live. - Claire

Hi and welcome Linzer and Candi07! Mary fun day and Claire, nice photo-hope you feel better quick!
Freestyle step and bokwa at the gym this morning.

Lilac - had to google bokwa as I had no idea what that was. Looks like a lot of fun, and something that would be relatively easy to follow, even for newbies.

Was a total blast Mary and if you ever get a chance to try it-..fast, easy-so fun, great music and a terrific cardio workout that makes the hour zoom by!

Great picture, Claire! That looks like a very relaxing spot to take a break. Cassie, what subject do you teach? Lilac, I'll have to look up bokwa. I've never heard of that one!

I teach math.
I did 31 minutes on the treadmill, for about 1.5 miles.0 -
Candi, Hi - I'm a Triple Negative gal also. I'm going to try your incline 15 at 4.0 speed. How many miles do you do this for? I'm burnt out on the EFX machine at the moment.
Popcorn is okay, if you don't have it loaded down with butter. I also got into a bit of trouble today, made some eggnog cookies from a packaged mix. Had to do quality control you know.
Water is good. Drink some hot green tea, which has some type of anti-tumor effect. http://www.anticancerbook.com/post/How-much-green-...
Add a dash of turmeric to it to reduce inflammation in the body.
It's only January 2nd. You can start again tomorrow for achieving a healthy 2015 in regards to eating or any specific goals you have. Additionally, your exercise was a great counteract to this.
You ladies are very motivating, regardless of the splurges we have at times, the exercise is still so helpful.

InspiredbyD, I do about 3 miles. Thanks for the link about drinking water, I drink about 1-2 cups of hot green tea daily. It's funny how you mentioned the popcorn...I have a new popcorn machine that I used today for the first time. The popcorn was so plain so I melted some margarine and poured it on. Wish I would have read yor post first...I knew better but was having a weak moment.

Stretching/toning and 30 minutes on the treadmill. One of these days I'm going to surprise everyone and try something different!!

25 minute walk at lunch today. The app I use to track my exercise and steps now has something called active minutes, so I have done 45 active minutes today.

Hi linzer - Welcome!
Mary: Great pictures! You always have so much fun.
I ordered new folding shades for the windows in our dining room and we decided the room needed to be painted before we install them. Luckily the room isn't that big. Today I painted the ceiling and my arms got a good workout. But you know what happens when you paint one room.......especially when it's connected to another!

hi all and welcome Linda! It was warm enough to walk outside today so did my 2.5 mile route. Snow coming tomorrow p.m. so plan to get out & walk tomorrow a.m. Silk long johns are drip-drying right now!
Yesterday was a party day, starting with Badger football and Bloody Mary's. Ended with breakfast for dinner (bacon & eggs) and the new Hobbit movie. Fun to have a day off with DH, it's so rare!

Wonderland, I know how that happens so have fun painting more rooms! ♥ to all

Did a nice, peaceful Shrink Your Fat Zones with Denise Austin DVD. I got a new phone this morning & have been messing around with it ever since, I ALMOST got a picture to copy over here right from it....almost, but not quite. I have a whole list of questions for my IT son. I', afraid I will never lose my immigrant status in the land of technology!

Good morning, just finished an hour of Zumba. Because I'm feeling guilty about how I ate yesterday I may do some Tae Bo at home later...wish me well and have a fabulous Saturday.

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted much; we were busy with the holidays and then returned to a full-blown influenza outbreak at work. Lots of sick residents and staff--not fun! I did 5500 meters on my rower this morning, now to do some yoga. I try to do my exercising at home because it takes less time away from DH...he is home all day while I am at work, and I feel bad if I'm not here. This whole cancer ordeal really made us so much closer! One part of the silver lining. We signed up for a trial month membership in Amazon Prime, and you can watch free videos. I made a watch list with a variety of exercise videos, so I can watch them for free right here at home. I was getting ready to buy a new yoga DVD because my original was getting boring, but now I can try different ones for free. At least for two more weeks. Then we need to decide if it's worth the price to continue the membership for a year. I've also been playing with aromatherapy, trying to find non-pharmaceutical ways to ease the aches and pains that are left from the chemo and now aggravated by the examestane. And some mood elevator scents, too. I don't want to take any more pills!
Belated happy new year to everyone! So glad to have such a great group of ladies to talk to!
Martha

My legs are a little sore today, so I'm debating what I want to do for some exercise. Maybe just a leisurely walk, with the dog.
0 -
Yesterday I went to a great yoga class and then a half hour walk (and did my 10,000 fitbit steps!). I'm hoping to go to the gym later today.
Cassie, I had sore joints after chemo, especially after the 12 weeks of taxol, but it's mostly all cleared up 1.5 years later. Walking is a great activity. It also took me a while to get my stamina back. I kind of overdid it trying to yoga and running after I had finished rads but was still on Heceptin. But Now I'm completely back to normal stamina-wise- but I'm out of shape! So many women are better at keeping in shape than I was. But I suppose we just do what we can. And I always walked.

hi Martha, Happy New Year, good to see you! I like aromatherapy too. You're ER+ like me so pls watch your use of lavender. It's lovely and calming but may be mildly estrogenic.
Woke up to snow, very pretty and not too cold. Will walk to the market in a bit to get veggies for soup. ♥

The aromatherapy talk sent me to the bath tub to soak out the miserable head cold I have been fighting plus the necessary, but mind numbing database work I have to complete this weekend. Off for a walk now to recover.
I can't wait to use the L'Occitane gift certificate from my sister....lots of wonderful soaks ahead.
I admit I ached post chemo and rads, but kept ibuprofen in my bicycle pack and took prior to setting out. It made a huge difference. I also used a lot of energy gels that summer. It took about six months post radiation to get all my energy back. I trudged through the summer events, and did them anyway.
Hoping to get in a run tomorrow....today will be a 4-5 mile walk in the woods nearby. Great for the spirit. Just not up to cycling as chilly drizzle out (38F). But walking will be just fine. - Claire

Nice to see you again Martha, I've heard good things about Amazon Prime
