I need the voices, too, patoo! I've consistently been sporadic with my exercising!! Everyone here is so great about it, I just wish I could get it together. We're going to Wilmington this weekend, so I plan to get some walking in there.

Dear Patoo and Mel,
Sleep tight because tomorrow you both will be active and you need your rest.
Pleasant dreams,

Voice #2 chiming in with support, we will all do better tomorrow!
Treated mom to supper tonight. Pasta for her, pan-fried walleye for me. A glass of Gnarly Head Zin each.
Good night all ♥

Voice #3 Mel & Patoo and Patoo I'm sure you're exhausted from bending and packing, and up and down all thise staire counts as exercise in my book. Kat and Meljo hope you are both feeling better. Ginger how frustrating, hope you get some relief with the gentel stretches. LB you made me laugh as we had one of those recently in our Sh'bam class, she pushed people out of the way, complained how loud the music was and was generally snarky then went after the instructor, big mistake cause we all love our instructor. Kat your trip sounds fabulous.
Did Grit Strength tonight, first time I have been able to do it in 6 weeks and it felt good, like I was starting over for the first time

Voice #4 urging everyone to get it in gear. Usually exercise creates more of the same. I am hoping to get in a long ride today with my guy. Just walks recently, as was semi laid up with that nasty chest cold. But nearly over it now.
I need to be fit enough to do the Tulip Pedal next week....all 40 miles of it.
Of course, I could do a bit of warm up stretching by getting out the vacuum cleaner! - Claire

How about a drill sergeant voice! YOU GONNA EXERCISE OR YOU GONNA LET CANCER BEAT YOU!
I walked 40 minutes this morning around the lake. 20 minutes run/walk and then the last 20 I walked and enjoyed the sun and sights. I saw 2 loons on the lake, which I had not seen before, the usual ducks and geese, and two turtles sunning on a log.
LOL, Claire, I could get some stretching in at my house too. Goodness I've been looking at the dust all week but somehow I just don't want to do it. A Tulip Pedal sounds like much more fun.

TwoHobbies, I like that.
Exercising is one thing we can do to help reduce our risks of recurrence and new cancers, as well as fight off a whole host of other diseases. We deserve to be healthy and strong!!!Finished my first week of C25K today and was able to do 3.5 minute jogging stints with 1.5 minute walking breaks. Feels good!

Hope everyone who has been ill is on the mend.......everyone else GET OUT THERE!!! (Loud Voice
).Yesterday I subbed, went to a high school baseball game, and then to a banquet, where they said, "Look under your chair. Whoever has a star on the bottom of their seat wins the centerpiece from your table." In my enthusiasm, I knocked my entire chair over and it landed square on the little bone on the top of my foot! OMG....it hurt so much I saw stars!! By the time I got home it was throbbing so much that I did not walk around until the fitbit buzzed as I had planned, but just went to bed. Today it is still sore & black/blue, but I don't think anything else.....I walked outside 30 minutes (which was as long as I could stand wearing a tennis shoe) and did Denise Austin's 45 minute Shrink Your Fat Zones....picking that DVD because you do it on a mat in bare feet. Open-faced shoes for me until Zumba on Monday!!!

Hoping to get in a walk sometime today if this electrician ever finishes. Actually found one of the outlets that was giving trouble had evidence of burning inside the walls - and it was inside my bedroom - YIKES!!! Glad I have been walking beside the Lord as only He could keep me from what could have been deadly.
Later sculpted friends.

I popped in to add some gardening duty. Its such a nice day, and since our grass turned green this week and the daffodils are blooming, I thought it was appropriate to start cleaning up the flower beds. Pulled grass, pulled up dried up flower stalks and dried up clematis vine, raked out some leaves that had blown in. So I got in some upper body work and some squats! Then I laid on my deck and got some vitamin D.
Ouch, Ruth. I did chuckle, not about your sore foot, but you knocking over the chair in your enthusiasm. That would be me!
Patoo, sometimes its frightening when you start looking under the walls of your house. I'm glad it never burned down your house or caused some kind of electrical shock!

Brought my late sister's fish tank stand in from the garage. Spent a half hour cleaning it up to have it looking like how she had it before she passed.

YIKES Patoo!!!! Glad it is sorted out, and most likely an easy fix.
Ruth....oops on the sore foot. I remember hobbling around after banging my big toe on the bed frame making the bed a few years ago. Then, the time I had the Match.com date that was such a disaster that I walked home, and didn't change back into my flats. (The guy had been drinking WAAAYYYYY too much and I said "no" to his offer of a ride.) I went over in my platforms and broke my little toe.
Just got in from a run as my guy thought weather too iffy for a long ride. Was great to actually do something. Just making the sauce for the meat I am serving tonight....Sauce Diable! (Meat is ox tongue done as a pot roast. I will recycle the stock into lentil soup later and add in the trimmings. As my guy likes this sort of thing, I make more adventurous dishes for him. We will use my Rolls Royce vegetable slicer to make oven fries later.)
I think I look something like 20 years younger after a run, so will add that to the list of exercise benefits.
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone! - Claire

Pretty day here too TH, and the grass is greening up. Cleaned out the flowerbeds last week so today took time for a nice morning walk, then reading & siesta in the back yard.
Ruth - ouch!
Patoo - yikes!

Gosh Patoo, that is scary!!!
Claire, I've noticed that people look extra vibrant after brisk outdoor exercise......kind of glowy and fresh (unless you are exercising in Washington DC in July and the heat index is 125
).
* edited to add that I for all my effort, I did NOT win the centerpiece!0 -
Darn Ruth! I was hoping you at least won the prize.....
Patoo, God bless! How scary. Warm day here but gusty winds so my exercise was running the usual errands. Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous so I am planning a nice walk and some vitamin D therapy.
Happy Sunday everyone

Oh Patoo I am so glad you are safe, that is very very scary. Ruth ouch and then not to win the prize after all that, I think the winner should have given it to you as a consolation prize. All your lawns are greening up and we're going to have to let ours go brown, I've already started to cut back on water, I'm repurposing the washing up water out on to the garden.
Did Body Combat this morning, oh my I can sure tell I have been slacking off my muscles are screaming

Cheryl, it started greening up after rain last week. Love this time of year but DH not too happy cuz now the lawn will grow = mowing = work. Saw the water restrictions in SoCal, hope your gorgeous roses survive the drought. Good night all! ♥

Glad you are safe Patoo and find the outlet.
Two nice walks today it was such a beautiful day.

Kindergarten, gentle suggestion, a yoga class mid to late afternoon is the best time for muscles to stretch (unlike my Sunday class below) and TwoHobbies, liked the motivational drill sergeant SHOUT OUT and long spring walks you have been on. Mommyof2, hoping you have a smooth recovery transition including surgical results desired.
Beautiful spring weather here and tulip bulbs planted last autumn by the front door are bursting forth. I have many a worksheet to get a move on, so rather than procrastinate (like I have done with most of this week off) I have to make a dent in course work while DH watches F1 and Masters.
Early morning hatha flow yoga class.

Good morning. Rain here but will walk some as I am going crazy after being stuck in bed for a couple of days. The past two years, I think we are getting the rain that should have gone to CA. Normally, April is hot and very dry but now it's damp and green. .
Ruthbru - hope your toe is better. Funny story though!
Patoo - whew, that sounded like a close call.
Lilac- thanks for the tip on stretching muscles. My yoga class is in the morning but there is an evening one--problem with that one is that it conflicts with dinner. What do you do if you are uncomfortable with some of the poses? Do you sit them out? I had my UMX in Dec., and I am so tight and weak on that side.

ruthbru, we are kindred spirits! At a baseball game once, I thought I won the 50/50 raffle. I jumped up so fast yelling that I was the winner tripping over my own feet only to discover that I had misread my ticket and was NOT the winner. I was, in fact, the loser. hahahaha... Hope the foot heals quickly!
katcar, so cool that you are pursuing your dream! I had gone back to school recently to make a career change. I was so excited about it, but the BC dx killed that for me. Between the medical bills and the need to keep my current good health insurance and life insurance, I had to drop out. I was so sad about it. The only time my dx made me cry

I'm still battling head cold/sinus infection but feeling much better today. Friday I ran 2.5, did short Pilates session, and some lifting. Yesterday was a 5-mile walk with my dog followed by lots of stretching and some strength training. Finished the day with Mexican, margaritas, and good friends.

Katcar, I had a revision on my leftie at end of January and the recovery has been deep, (feels almost like heartburn) pain at the left pec, - I did come out of a twist early this morning, so yes, I do sit them out. Had an appointment with my PS last Thursday and was told it was deep bruising resolving. Range of motion is good it's the twisting that seems to be most annoying. When I first came back from my big diep surgery, it took 9 months for my upward-facing dog to return. My upper left muscles are still my weakest and since January, I work on weight machines vs. just resistance. I've taken my time to work strength back (resistance and flexibility very good -well within normal limits) and as we know, lymphedema is a one-way condition and I'm paranoid about my left arm/hand.

ruth, I think we looked great after our DC adventure. Doesn't sweat make you glow?

karcar, please check out this thread about guidelines for safe exercise for people with/at risk for LE. It was started by our own NatsFan and has excellent advice for you and your trainers. I will also "bump" it up into Active Topics for you.

Got out early and walked my 2.5 mile route. It's so nice I'll probably go back out this afternoon. ♥ to all

Meijo - you impress me so much doing all that exercise when under the weather. It's all I can do just to walk! I feel terrible for you that you are not able to continue with your career change and studies. Do you think you'll be able to do it later? I was so shocked by my diagnosis that I feel in a hurry to do things that I have always wanted to do. My mom succumbed to leiomyosarcoma when she was 34 after battling it for several years, so I think that has something to do with it as well. I can certainly understand why dropping out was the only time you cried. Sending you a gentle hug. At least it sounds like you topped your day off with some fun and good food/drink. Those kinds of outings are good for replenishing the soul.
Lilac - the aftermath of your revision sounds very uncomfortable. I hope the deep bruising resolves soon. I would have been terrified of a DIEP because already I have noticed loss of range of motion on my left side, esp. when lying down flat with my arms behind my head. I am only now being able to get the left elbow down on the ground. I admire your perseverance to do lifting and advanced yoga positions.
You and Badger brought up something I honestly have not given much thought--lymphedema. I had a lumpectomy for a benign tumor on my right side in Feb. with no nodes removed, and after that, I had daily discomfort in my right arm and shoulder, which I thought was weird because it was not the MX side. I figured it was from being splayed out during surgery and being out of shape. A month later, I rode pillion with my BF on a long ride--8 hours, only stopping for lunch. After that, I had the discomfort on both sides--what I would describe as a very heavy, weak feeling. It took 2 weeks to start feeling better. I just thought I was really out of shape, which is true, but I had not given any thought to lymphedema. Thank you for the links, Badger! I pulled them up and will read them today.

Haha, Patoo....you may have been glowing but I was 'sweating like a pig'. (For new gals, our annual trip two years ago was to Washington, DC......we had a GREAT time despite the heat index of 125....and I am not even making up that number!) When I say we were 'hot chicks' I am not exaggerating.
I did not come out of BC with even and/or perky boobs, so you know I was suffering from a heat-induced delirium when I took off my bra and shoved it in my backpack at a baseball game!
The foot is really black & blue today. I took off my fitbit so I won't be depressed by the steps I'm not getting & did an hour long pilates DVD (no shoes, on a mat).

Had late contractor so no church this morning. Think I'll head over to the gym for a water workout. Just went online and ordered a new fitbit one so at least I'm now thinking about getting back to being serious. Also accepted NM invite on ELAB thread to daily log anything that gets pass my teeth (which has been lots of bad stuff lately). Feel like I'm back on track. YAY!.

Kat, that's absolutely how I feel about enjoying life now. I'm doing a few things for myself now and trying to balance that with being the responsible one. Sometimes I wish I could just give up the "responsible" part all together!
Meijo I can totally relate to the career change idea. I toyed with the idea of school and totally different career but haven't pulled the trigger due to financial reasons. I'm currently trying to segue my current skills into some other job, if possible. If that doesn't work, I may well go back to school. I hope you will get to do it when life and health get back to normal.
i didn't get any vacuuming or dusting done but I did finally got my tax returns done this morning. Yes, and its only April 12!
For my exercise I walked 60 minutes today with my son and husband. We are trying to start a Sunday tradition of going for a walk and going to a different forest preserve every week. So today we went to another new place, with a different lake. This one also had the raucous frogs in the boggy area but not as many interesting birds. Then I undid all the good work with shrimp and chorizo tacos, chips and queso, and three bites of tres leche cake. I'd be skinnier if I would cut my Mexican food intake down to once every six weeks!

OK maybe a fitbit is a better idea. My phone app must have been recording the drive to the forest preserve and to the restaurant and home because I logged 32 miles today.
I'm ready for a marathon!0
