Some pics from New Zealand. The picture above of me on the white horse was taken on my first cancerversary (14/4). Such a contrast to the year before when I was told I had cancer. I just hope I have many years of N.E.D and this gut wrenching fear will ease with time.

Wow! Stunning pictures, thanks for sharing!
I ended up subbing in my old room (after my exercise class), so got all the rest of my steps chasing kids around the room (actually they were very good....but I did get the steps

Meljo, you look fab and can see it was that being with the dolphins was a spiritual experience. Cbraid99, you an get back to normal - hang in there. Sandie, I'd love to ride horseback in New Zealand, wow, how lucky are you.
Body balance this morning and yoga tonight in candle light as the studio lights where not working- it was cool!

Sandie is there anything inside the hobbit houses or is it just an exterior film set? I think I would enjoy living in a hobbit house. (That's the little girl in me talking) Great way to celebrate.
Meijo I can see you had a great time and you look fab. I have communed with the manatees but I also have swimming with the dolphins on my bucket list. I agree on the wonderful renewing feeling of going on vacation. You get out of your cancer patient head and every day routine and I really come back refreshed and renewed.
Day off today for a few errands. For my exercise I mowed for 40 minutes and weeded 25 minutes. For my fun we went to a fabulous new restaurant which was just delicious and I was able (mostly) to stick to my low carb eating. I did have one bite of cheesecake. .

LB: Candlelight yoga sounds spiritual.
TwoHobbies: That's some will power to only eat one bite of cheesecake!
Good evening. Today has been absolutely beautiful. Dh and I mowed together for 1 hour and 20 minutes. This nice, cool evening I went for my walk/run.

Meljo - great photos. You look great! Swimming with the dolphins was on my wish list too so I talked hubby into it while in Cancun a few years ago. Will definitely do it again.
Ruth - Congrats on the good appt results. If anyone deserves that greasy burger, it is you! Enjoy. Oh, and thank you for the update on Mary.
Sandie, great pictures from your NZ trip. Looks like you were able to really enjoy it.
Lilacblue - candlelight yoga sounds wonderful.
Badger and Wonderland - glad you guys had a good time at the music festival despite the cool damp weather.
My exercise for yesterday and today was bootcamp. Our group is preparing for a tough mudder event in June so the workouts are killer! Luckily for me, I will have to miss that event as I will be at Disney!

I have an older Omron pedometer and love it...It tracks up to 999,999 steps....keeps track of the previous 7 days and a few other things...it fits in a pocket easily.....But I been thinking of getting a Fitbit or Jawbone or whatever....Please chime in on what you use and why you like it.
I also use "mapmywalk" on my phone but that only tracks my "purposeful" walks or runs...not every step as I don't keep it turned on all day.....

Congrats Ruth on the all clear appt.
Meljo- I hope to swim with the dolphins one day; very cool!
I had my dr appt today and she thinks I have 2 different issues going on. Muscle spasms in my back and possibly bursitis in my hip. She is sending in a PT referral and prescribed a muscle relaxer for nighttime. No exercise for me till after that.
On another note, she wants me to have an MRI of my breasts because she felt "bumpiness" on the implant on one side. I have to wait for my insurance to pre-authorize before we can schedule it. Trying to remain calm and not freak out but waiting has never been my strong point...

Karen, I have a Fitbit Charge. I like it very much. You set it up online. It automatically resets itself each day but keeps track of all your steps etc. & sends you a weekly totals by email (I believe it sends you a yearly total too, but I'm not sure because I just got it in March). The Fitbit is also a watch; so it tells you the time, steps, how many miles the steps mean, calories burned, stairs climbed. You can also use it as a stop watch. On the computer it also graphs all your exercise, including the peak times you moved. You can also use the computer part to track weight, food intake, water intake, and sleep patterns. The fitbit automatically resets itself each night. At 10,000 steps (or you can set up another number if you want), it vibrates so you know you have met your goal. It will also send you an email when you need to recharge it (about every 7 days). Pretty nifty.
Ginger, yikes! Hope they get to the bottom of everything ASAP!!!

Chiming in here to say I have the Fitbit also. I've synced it to MyFitnessPal.com so they calculate calories based on real activity. I have only hit 10,000 steps once so far but i loved the buzz! My next step is to go back to the gym and do something.
The awareness these tools bring is what I've found most helpful so far.

30 mins of excerise today.
I have A Charge. Based on my post you can probably tell I love my Fitbit and it keeps me aware not only of the steps but my sleep patterns. Come in handy when answering a few questions during my dr. Appts. 😎. I love the weekly emails with the totals and averages. I also have mine synced up yo my fitness pal.co

I too have a fitbit and really like it, I know a girl with a Jawbone Up and she loves it, so I think you just have to see what works, me I couldn't stand to have anything on my wrist all day long as I work with my hands and I even find a watch annoying. Ruth forgot to congratulate you on your great appointment yesterday. (((Ginger))) waiting is the worst but we'll all wait with you. Sandie wonderful pictures, New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Tonight did Body Pump and Body Jam.

If you have friends with one of those devices, ask if you could try it on & get the feel of it. About the Charge, almost every woman would wear the 'small' band; I say this because a much taller/larger friend of mine, 5'10" & 170 pounds (which I know because we are on a diet bet), tried mine on and the 'small' fits her wrist too.

I have a Garmin Vivofit and love it.

Well, it's not swimming with dolphins or riding horses in New Zeeland; but we're having a great time walking around the college track on a beautiful North Dakota spring day!

Hello, Ladies. Ruth suggested I might want to visit here since I'm working on getting fit for my rather marathon visit to each of my sons' in June. One them has things scheduled for every minute (I hope I get some sleep). I mostly want to improve my fitness and lose an inch or two around my waist. My weight is fine.
I'm turning 70 in July and for the past 4-1/2 years I've been the sole caregiver to my DH who has Parkinson's and heart issues. I have not been able to leave him alone for more than 15 minutes the past 3 years. He's now in a nursing and I'm finally able to start taking care of myself.
Right now I'm walking the dog nearly a mile every day. She's a terrier so we walk FAST and then stop to smell whatever it is that attracts her

Plus today I started doing Richard Simmons Disco Sweat - very interesting since I am totally uncoordinated when it comes to dancing. Glad there were no cameras around. 25 minutes was enough for my first time. Figured much longer and I'd trip myself!
Take care, Ladies!
HUGS!

Welcome PontiacPeg- you have had a tough journey and so sorry about your husband being in the nursing home, but very glad you are able to take care of yourself better now and have joined us. Nice group of ladies here and we keep it going for one another!
Did a lot around home today and my lower back is talking to me, so no weights at the gym tonight. I did take 2 mi/35 min end of the day walk. I am going to hit 14,000 steps today too!

Hi Peggy, glad you are here!
Back out on the river for rowing class last night. It was a gorgeous day! Went for my every 6 week massage today which always helps me feel good. Getting my port removed tomorrow, so I am a little nervous. Seems that my activities will be restricted for a week or so afterwards, which is frustrating. But I will find other ways to do good, positive things!

Subbed in 8th grade geography......think a hot, stuffy classroom, pimply, hormonally-charged, spring-fevered teenagers and add the exciting topic 'the Republic of Uzbekistan'....yea, it was not so much fun. I went to Zumba tonight; where we did some of our old songs, so that WAS fun.
Rhoddy, congratulations on the port removal. Whoo Hoo!!! I was so thrilled to get that damned thing out! I don't remember any specific restrictions; but if you have some, you can always walk & do leg/ab work for a couple days.

Rhody: Good luck with your port removal. I was glad when mine was removed. Like Ruth, I don't remember any specific restrictions.
Ruth: What a day!
Dh, dd, and I spend the afternoon weeding our garden area so we can plant tomorrow. Fast walked/ran late this evening.
