Thanks, gals----------DBF fine. Two funerals this week---buggared.

Marley, I described Neulasta as "Wolves gnawing at my bones and I was alive".  Even IV Dilaudid didn't cover the pain.

Yeah, that pretty much describes the feeling. Mostly in my hips. Ugh. Wish the wolves would find another meal!

Sassy- excellent description of the Neulasta pain...unrelenting from the inside out. I just couldn't stop moving and the pain meds didn't even seem to touch it. horrid. Marlana how many cycles are they wanting to give you?

Pretty funny the thong/flipflop-sandal name wars. Like back in Pennsylvania 1/2 the state called Soda - "Pop" and the other "Soda." Carbonated beverage drink and be happy! Oy.. no issue.

Today not a good day. If I could go for surgery and remove 2 or more feet of my large intestines -I would! Intestinal grief ruins my life. I thought I was miserable yesterday (diarrhea, cramps, gas, bloating pain.)- wrong. So today I got rid of all coffee. Drank tea for breakfast yuck. Then right after lunch - intestines go ballistic and I end up on the pot with a waste can under my chin. diarrhea - puke fest. lovely. Curled up and went to sleep after that, another day shot to hell near a bathroom. Coffee does make it worse but apparently that's not the total reason. I had diarrhea all through ACT chemo, unreal! I needed to buy diaper cream at age 48! Afinitor gave me the chits too. I have a redundant colon/IBS which means I have too much colon all wadded up in a knot. Too bad I can't get elective surgery take it all out. I feel resigned to life no more then 20 feet from the bathroom and near where you can just curl up in a ball and ride it out. What a life! Somebody remind me what it's like to feel good?

I was up until 1am yesterdy reading this book The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, by Alexander McCall Smith. Cute read! I am enjoying it and already bought the next one in the series. I love the description of African life there.. sounds beautiful with skies stretching out into the horizon blue and enormous like the ocean. Life is hard but grounded to "their" lands and traditions. Like a little trip you can take on the wings of another person's imagination and story. Thank goodness for books because the only trips I seem to make these days are to the bathroom.

I love reading the posts.. but maybe I should just read and not post.

Rose- I am sorry about your GI problems. I have always had a touch of IBS and get anxiety when I am not near a bathroom. It is hard to live your life around one. Have D and other issues makes you so miserable. Wishing you better days. Do you take probiotics at all?

Are you a big reader? I find myself reading more biographies/autobios these days. I am reading Elizabeth Warren's newest book called A Fighting Chance. It is very good, I am learning a lot about the financial policies, etc. of our nation from the time of the great depression to now and how it all works or doesn't.

thanks for the suggestion on the Claritin, unfortunately, I already take it for allergies...only two shots of neupogen this round--we'll see about after second blood test in 2 weeks if I'll need more. My mom's a pretty good sticker even if she's years out of practice--haven't felt either shot! Heating pad helped with the hips, but my ribs have decided that they're feeling left out. I'm saving the pain meds for bedtime.

Rose--D is definitely no fun! I'm having the opposite right now! I've got gluten issues but only get D if I've steered clear of wheat and then get contaminated. And I've had recurrent c. Diff that started following a gnarly sinus infection that took 3 rounds of antibiotics to knock it out. 3rd round did a number on my intestines and by that point I was on day 5 of a 22 day vacation in Italy. And isn't it always when you have some really embarrassing problem that you get a cute doc? A really hot, green-eyed Italian...phhth

"Wolves gnawing at the bones" pain with Neupogen....oh my, so sorry. It reminds me of the time when I tried to describe to my sister the pain in my chest the day after the mastectomy--feels likefierce animal taking a big bite and refuse to let go of my breast. I can't imagine the bone pain. Marlana, I hope the Claritin helps relieve the pain. There was a study on hydroxyzine, which is also an antihistamine, that showed similar results. Not sure if the other antihistamines will do the same.

Jazzy, love the sandals. They look expensive! Or maybe it's your feet that make the sandals look good. Oh, beautiful prickly pear flowers. Only last one day?

Ms. Spookie, very cute car. Want to trade for my 8-cylinder SUV with plenty of room for your babies and grandkids.

Rose, we take the good with the bad. Maybe, I shouldn't speak for everyone. I look forward to reading your post just like I look forward to everyone else's here. Had my good gallbladder removed in 2010 because they thought it was inflamed. It wasn't. Darn ultrasound. They finally diagnosed me with IBS. I know for surethree things that trigger it- lack of sleep, stress, and red meat. Every so often I get bullet sweat cramps, but never the n/v like you do though. I don't know what normal bm is anymore.

Ah man.... these girls aren't having very good days lately........... Sorry gals..... Sad

About the BIG D Rosie... My SIL did have to have much of her intestines removed... but her's was caused by always having to take laxatives.... And they just wouldn't work by themselves anymore... And Cammi has had an issue with that it seems like forever!

But her surgery went fine, and she is up and running... no problems now... Had to change her diet... but hers was not caused by any meds or cancer... Just always using laxatives... She is now 65 I think.... doesn't have to wear a bag.

And we don't want to hear about just reading and not posting! You HAVE to post...! Exclamation point there!!! If we can't "fix" you, we can drive you nuts trying....!

My friend Carol is HOME! Mike posted she is driving her electric wheel-chair around like a pro! First day home, and they were all there eating dinner with her! So I'm happy for her! Smile I'll have to ask him if he is going to trick it out... He loves to drive race cars.

Sorry Sass.... Funerals just get to us.... makes us sad... I don't want our girls to have to go through that... When we are gone, just have everybody over, and throw a big party! Have a barbecue, and play lots of dancing music, and celebrate our lives... !

Loveroflife- my yellow prickly pear just started blooming, and my pink one is finishing. Here is a picture of the pink one. I love my cactus blooms!

Those green sandals were $126 but on sale for $63. When I went into the store, I found them right away and the owner said she had just put them on sale that morning (last pair). How about that for timing. Those green sandals were meant for me! I have had a lot of problems with my feet the past few years and been getting rid of shoes (donating or taking to consignment) and replacing them with more comfortable shoes.

I'm sleeping in 30 min increments I'm going bonkers!

Panicking, yesterday I found a small knot beside my expanded near my arm pit. I called my surgeon, she said lots of lumps and bumps after a mastectomy are not uncommon. Also could be my expander. Radiation Onco felt it yesterday and he said he wasn't worried. Especially since that is the area getting radiation. I found it putting my lotion on for burns. I see surgeon on Tuesday to have her look at it. What do you all think would be the odds of me having a local recurrence after 1. After a masectomy, 2. just finishing chemo a month and a half ago and 3. currently in radiation? Any encouragement would be appreciated. Prayers anything please......

Claritin didn't do the trick for me. Dr. Changed me,to nuepogen and it was much less painful. My wbc stayed perfect the whole time on Taxotere

U4- I had a lot of scar tissue show up right after my lumpectomy, and more after radiation, and more with time. The first lump I felt was about a month or so after the surgery and before rads. It was a seroma (fluid) where the scar was. They can easily ultrasound it to see if it looks suspicious. I know there are other women on these threads I have seen have the same things happen during treatment with lumps and bumps showing up after LX or MX. I wish they prepared us better that these things can happen.

I think bringing it to your doctors attention and having them tell you if anything more needs to be done is the right direction to go. I remember I had such anxiety when finding the first lumps and bumps and thought the same thing. Can this be back already? It may be causing your sleep problems.

Let us know how the apt goes on Tuesday. Hugs sister, I know this is scary but you have many eyes on you right now ensuring you get the best care.

U4, it could be the edge or the fold of the expander or it could be scar tissue. How much saline do have in your expander currently? I remember feeling a bump at the beginning when the expander was barely filled. It is good you are seeing your surgeon this coming Tuesday. For peace of mind, you can request an ultrasound as Jazzy suggested.

I'm fully expanded. I'm almost done with rads. I'm just thinking surely if it was more, the radiation should be taking care of it

U4, I did not have reconstruction, but I have lumps all along the mastectomy scar. First couple we found got ultrasound and biopsy, but they are simply fat necrosis. My scar area looks like a hilly landscape. Usually they can tell by the shape and outline. It also depends on how radical your mx was. My cancer side they took all breast tissue and part of the chest muscle to get clear margins. The other side had hyperplasia, and that's where they did the u/s and biopsy, because they didn't know whether there was any breast tissue left to develop a tumor in.

Marlana, oops only 4 patients observed, but here is the article anyway. Hydroxyzine is sedating; however,it is better for allergies than Claritin as far as allergy relief. Hoping you get better result with it if you decide to try.

Fat necrosis can appear anywhere they have removed tissue, as I understand it, mine happen to be along the scar because there's so much extra skin.

U4....! I know nothing about nothing, but we are here just to help you get through this.... These gals have been through it all..... and I've been through what they haven't.... Ha! That's because I'm older... so chances are, if anything else happens to you, it's happened to one of us also....

When I fell (off the pole) and broke my hip... (and had a rod & screws) I had lumps all over the place on my leg! But they gradually went down, and then away.... glad you are checking in with your team.... Tell them you want to know for SURE what is going on. Then write it down, and keep all your stuff in a notebook or somewhere....

And don't take anything I say seriously.... except for a few things....Winking

U4, stick with us for awhile or forever  chickie :) we've all been where you are. As you wander around the BCO treads you may find that you feel you want to be on another thread __normal. Many folks post on multiple threads. Generally, folks have what we call a home thread. This is my home thread. There are technical threads that talk one particular topic like the "cold cap" thread. Many when they start treatment will join a group that relates to their treatment. Like Chemo March 2015. The gals are all in "active" treatment. They are comparing their treatments and how they are doing--definite support to be able to comisserate. They have a common bond through treatment. You could post both places. They are no limits for the most part where you post. Avoid the stage 4 thread threads though they can get testy. They don't tend to get defensive on the technical threads.

With your insomnia, there are lot's of suggestions in the topic box above. Insomnia is a direct effect of allot of the drugs you are being exposed to, plus you're worrying. Must admit most of our group here are sleeping better than they used too. But check in at night if you are up. You never know.

Have you learned how to use the Favs button yet? Click on favs and that will save a topic to your "Favorite topic list". You can save as many as you want. I'll send you a few links by Pm that are good to have in your favs list for when you need them.

You are overwhelmed now and scared. It will get easier. All here have given you suggestions---good stuff.

We are pretty irreverent here. Be prepared to have variations on your name.......

    Hugs sassy.

I've been wandering around and figures to stay off some threads, they just scare the hell out of me. I cold capped and did that one for a while. I saw your title and thought yup, maybe this is my spot! Thank you for all of the advice and encouragement. It means a lot. I'm a single mom and my family is 350 miles away. I'm trying to reach out anyway I can. :)

You are a single MOM? Ah geez.....! How old are the little ones....? If that is you in your Avatar, you are mostly very young... So your avatar says your name is "U4iachick"...???" You must be related to R2D2! Or you like chickens? Or you ARE a chick? I'll never get this straight....

So we can be your "new" family.... SOME of us are close to you.... but WE are here every day and some nights.... so don't ever be afraid, or worry.
