badger. Now that is a send off!
Scottie good luck with your surgery!
Mary I've been meaning to do one of those C25K apps. Thanks for the suggestion. I kind of detest running but I know it would feel like a great accomplishment.
I did go for a short 13 minute walk last night. Today I went to the lake and walked 63minutes. lots of pretty wild flowers in bloom.

You know Badger if you had a smartphone there would have been an app to get you out of cul de sac hell
and what a great send-off. Mary glad you are enjoying your morning runs again. Scottie hope you had fun at the Beach Boys and good luck for Monday. TH I've got another story for you, so here goes....
Tonight I went to Zumba, after class I always go and thank the instructor, well tonight he says to me 'You really have all the moves, I think you should become an instructor, if you do it I'll mentor you' ROFL and then ROFL again...... Like I've said before, I sure wish that I would have found out how much I love to exercise 50 years ago then maybe I could have entertained the instructor idea but for now ROFL....0 -
Cheryl - I agree with the instructor: the time is now! Are you too busy to make time to teach 3 classes? Well, teach one! Hugs, Nisa

Cheryl! Go for it. Lilac did it. You can too. Why would he say that if he wasn't serious. You Rock!
Badger I got lost in the forest preserve one time. I was on the yellow loop which I presumed meant goes back to where I started. Then I come across a sign and I'm no longer on that loop but the blue trail or something.Ah! I continued walking until I came onto a group of people and I followed them. But my worst walking experience was going out when it was-10 and I got back to my car with no keys,no phone and of course not a soul around because it's -10, fool. Luckily I retraced my steps and found them in the snow.
I better get my exercise in early too. It was84 and steamy yesterday. Today's forecast is 88 and steamy.

Cheryl, I join those who say "go for it"!!! What is the worst that can happen??? We are all celebrating Lilac's success. I also take the view that it's never too late to exercise. I see this where I live with so much suffering resulting from long term inertia. I don't see anyone offering exercise classes either although we do have a gym.
I am back to seven day work weeks, although I will fit in exercise wherever I can. Need to keep up the training and view it as vital for my long term survival. Not to mention that I look far better when fit and I do need adventures to keep fresh. My brain works better too....important for what is to come.
Major news on my end. Looked down at my email on my smartphone a few days ago and saw something I never expected to see. I had just been recommended for some major project work, and would I be interested??? Well, YES!!! Because ideally, I want to focus on work that brings in more revenue when possible. So I will be doing both my nonprofit work AND this project work, but less "stuff" at the nonprofit. Much more in a consultative role which has been happening anyway. This is the next step.
Very exciting times. Updating my skill set and also learning new research techniques. Working with a new team of people. Fielding projects in addition to writing reports. Also doing grant proposals and my other nonprofit work. As I said, seven day weeks.
This could be anything from a few months to contract work over a number of years.
Off tomorrow for a new headshot at Oldschool Pinups (yes they also do conventional photography!!) to replace the one that looks appropriate for a nonprofit board, but not for someone who is doing research of millennials' attitudes. I need to look cool and hip, and this is what I told Trixie when I said I needed help!!! If I had more cash, I would do a pinup shoot too!!!
Need to get in a ride today, work on some of my deliverables, figure out what to charge for the project I have been assigned.
One other thing for tomorrow is that I am also having Trixie do my makeup before Lance shoots me. I want to look fabulous, and nice to have someone who knows me do this part. I will let you know how it all turns.
So my life changes once again...... - Claire

Whoo Hoo Claire!
Cheryl, whether you decide that teaching a class is something you'd like to do or not, it is certainly a wonderful recognition to be asked!
45 minute toning DVD for me.
Kindergarten, I re-mailed your pictures last Saturday; so I certainly HOPE they will be awaiting you once you get home!

My workout that I had planned last night will be done tonight.

I'm going to share this picture from my North Carolina trip because I think it's fun and nobody except people on the exercise thread would appreciate it.

Me and the younger generation doing planks between the hotel room beds:

Love it, Ruth! Note you're the only one in correct form, based on position of arms, neck/spine, and butt.

Great photos everyone. Cheryl, I agree that you would be a great instructor if you chose to be. Claire, congrats on the change/good news.
Have my own good news as I had my annual oncologist visit Friday. Given the all clear for another year...whew! Celebrated with a new hairstyle..
Exercise yesterday and today was laundry plus swimming in the pool. It is back to work next week so trying to get as much lounging in over the weekend
. 0 -
Congrats odie on the all-clear and good luck next week Mary. I still see onc every 6 mos.
Got results of baseline DEXA and I'm normal. (yay for normal!) Will have another in 2 yrs.
Ruth was it Mary Louise who first shared that video? (exercise is a "magic pill")

Nice walk this morning, looked like rain but birds were singing so figured it was safe.

As slammed and have the photo shoot this afternoon, it will be a run and not a ride today. Did 25 easy miles yesterday, and it's amazing how fast you can lose prime fitness. I MUST fit in another ride this coming week, and hopefully will be able to do the Tour de Lavender next weekend.
Finally, a rainy weekend to ease the long dry spell we have had. All the trees are starting to look happy again.
Slept in to rev up my brain and also I will look refreshed for the photo shoot

Caught up on laundry including pressing my summer clothes (which unfortunately look much better after an encounter with a steam iron). My white cotton blouse-jacket is absolutely brilliant. It's unlined and WASHABLE!!! So I can keep it looking fresh. I got if off eBay for something like $20 thinking it was a blouse. But then I realized that it really is a summer blazer. Just fab with all sorts of things.
Just watched the exercise video again. Brilliant. I also like the part that exercise still benefits those of us who have a bit extra weight. I am relaxing and not worrying about things. I remember asking my oncologist a year or so ago "aren't you going to check my heart and lungs"? Her answer: I really don't need to after what you describe you have been doing! (This included racing up one mile to the top of Capitol Hill in Seattle from the bus stop.)
I have learned from the exercise app on my phone that I almost always do at least an hour a day of walking and more than 6000 steps. That is when I carry my phone, so the real number is more like 10,000. I didn't yesterday, but I cycled 25 miles. I think I am just fine. I was surprised at how little walking 6000 steps is.
Need to crack open my other computer as still no materials from the consulting gig. But still have plenty of nonprofit work to do in the interim.
Happy Sunday!!!! - Claire

Yea, Odie!
I can't remember who shared it, badger.
30 minutes Pilates & 45 minutes walk. At some point I am going to run out of excuses and be forced to clean my house!

Claire, I like the question: can you keep your sitting & sleeping to 23.5 hrs a day?
Back to work tomorrow, set alarm 15 mins earlier to allow for a quick yoga stretch.
Thx Wonderland, I think so too. Happiness becomes her. ♥
Hope everyone has a good week ahead and best wishes for 2moro Scottie!

odie16- Congrats! What a relief that must be! Time to celebrate!
I went for a jog w/ my son, about 3 miles. It is a ice time to connect, as he is 14. I am looking forward to the week ahead. We will be visiting with my inlaws, which is always a good time😀..
