Ruth, I think it all does count, so you are good to go!That is interesting Cheryl, and how long have you been in this study?

Teaching new'ish release #69, first and second time, today, so fingers crossed, all goes well. Mind you, it's not rocket science.Winking

My onc seems to put a lot of worth on fat. He once let me pass on a PET because I hadn't gained any weight since the last one. So I try to lose any excess before I see him. Even if it's just a delay, this gives my body more time to repair any radiation-induced damage. It's been 8 years now since my dx. Can hardly believe it. So grateful for the time.

Yes, exercise has been a big part of my life since I started treatment. It has been great medicine for me as well as relieving side effects of hormonal therapy and aging But I'm preaching to the choir here. Happily, too, as it's great to have exercise buddies.

Ruth, I would be very worried if you weren't good to go. Have fun with your friends. Jazzy, I should try that 10 minute daily yoga to try to get into the habit. Mysunshine, I've been alternating between AIs and tamoxifen. Cheryl, what a pain but you and Reader are doing a good thing. I am also supposed to have about that many calories, according to some calculator I used from the USDA. Do you know what the non-placebo pill is?

Yesterday was squash with DD, an old release of BodyJam.and weights.

HeidiHill, I'm pleased you have had 8 years to this point in time and keep doing good . I live in the fattest european country that also has the worst track record for women of stage IV bc surviving over 5 years (live longer in Czech Republic than here). Connect the dots for one main factor. UK oncologists are trying like mad to change the stats, yet, what I see out in the public and in the gyms, not much change happening.

Lilac. . .just read the exercise article. Interesting and definitely a challenge to exercise 300 minutes a week. Before EX surgery I was at the gym 3-4 days a week, doing a combo of treadmill and weights. In between Dh and I were hiking either around our lake or on trails. I will have to track the time from now on to see if I am hitting that goal after recovery.

I will say with all the execise, I toned my legs and abs but lost no net weight due to the lupron/Tamoxifen I'm on to put me in menopause. At least I did not gain weight.

I am so very happy that you are our exercise buddy, Heidi! Hug

This morning I went for a walk (PERFECT summer weather here), and to my Cardio Sculpt class. In a few minutes I am leaving for a couple hours of imposed repose......I have a hair appointment and getting the works; cut, color and highlights. Poor me, sitting there drinking sparkling water and reading a book!

I am going to give a product endorsement: a week or so ago I noticed that the band on my Fitbit was coming away from the device, and yesterday the little button on the side fell right off (luckily I noticed and could push it back in). So I called the Customer Service number (and was worried because since it was a gift, I didn't have a receipt). The girl on the line said, "No problem, we will send you a new one right out." So.....very, very good customer service (I can also vouch for Oreck, who sent me a new vacuum cleaner in the mail with no hassle at all).

Thanks for sharing the article Lilacblue. Reminds me to always try to get the most time possible in.

Heidihill, congrats on the eight years! Wishing you many many more.

My exercise on Sunday was swimming and starting the squats challenge

( Thanks Nats!)...... Yesterday's exercise was bootcamp. Missed bootcamp tonight due to a air-conditioner issue. Boo!

Edited to say "have a great time Ruth! "

Ruthbru - is your hair gorgeous now? What a fund day that sounds like!

I went for a jog - managed 6.25 miles though I stopped once to smack all the ants off of me...I have no idea where they came from! (Though I was trail running, lol) They were crawling all over me... arms, neck and in my hair...gaahhhh~! I am itching thinking about it.Bawling

On a happy note, I saw a wild passionflower in bloom - they are SO beautiful. My favorite. I should have taken a picture for you guys!

It better be gorgeous, it cost enough! Loopy

I will try to get up early enough to do 30 minutes of some kind of exercise before I leave tomorrow. I would like to go to bed right now but the stupid Minnesota Twins are tied in the 9th inning.....I am praying they can get a run (two on base & two out) so it doesn't go into extra innings!!!!!!!

*edited to report that the batter got a single & the guy on 2nd kept running, slide into home for the inning point......so whew, now I can go to bed!

Just catching up here following a whirlwind two days. Yesterday, did a full day including a conference call and then went into Seattle to have dinner with my cousin and her husband who are in town. They just loved my selection of pre-wine and then a dinner spot. Was fun catching up as haven't seen them in 20 years. (Also that both were surprised to learn that I am older than they thought, not to mention the endurance events I do each summer Happy)

Because of all this, I got up at 5 to finish work that I had promised for noon EST today. Got it done and all is well. Went into the nonprofit by way of the blood lab to get my follow up tests done. No, I don't have Hepatitis C, and all is fine with my glucose levels. But what is amazing is my cholesterol which was 94 HDL and high borderline overall. The HDL is up from 84 the last time it was tested.

Not sure what else I did as zoned by the end of the day. Downsized my run and swim to a 2-mile walk. Still have weights to do.

Got a lovely bottle of wine today as a thank you for my nonprofit board work....it's been 3 years. So nice to be appreciated for this. But has made a big difference in my life as well. - Claire

Claire - good for you on the non-profit work. I have served in a very active role on the board of a large one for many years, and I am WORN OUT with it right now. I need to draw some lines in the sand I believe. It sure can take a lot of time up!

Back from a wonderful mini-vacation in Chicago and Milwaukee!

    image

    Wrigley Field!

    image

    Running next to Lake Michigan.

    image

Leaning Tower of Niles, IL. (Really!)

    image

Miller Park! And Badger, we visited the Hank the Dog concession stand and bought a key ring - a portion of the proceeds go to the local Humane Society. But I didn't get to meet the real Hank like you did!

Had a great time with family celebrating my cousin's 50th anniversary. It was nice to have the family get together for a fun celebration instead of something sad like a funeral. The party was given by their son and daughter at a local Irish pub, complete with great food, all kinds of Irish beer on tap, and even live Irish music. It was a perfect celebration.

After all the eating and drinking and fun, I got back into things with a 30 minute run this morning. I needed that!!!!

    Nats: Great pictures!

Hello Everyone! Mowed this evening for almost 2 hours. It's been 28 days since the last time dh and I mowed because it's been so dry. The last time we mowed we went 21 days between mowing. Normally we would have to be mowing every week. We definitely need rain!

Hi friends. Have not been here in at least a month so not caught up on all your doings. Finally able to relax after a whirlwind vacation mostly criss-crossing NC as well as spending 2 weeks in the NC mountains. Had great fun but we were 'wore out'! Had one restful day in the mountains as we found a great beach up there. Who ever thought there would be a beach, yes, a real beach, in the mountains. If you are ever there, Lake Lure, is beautiful.

Finally no longer happily homeless but happily home now in beautiful The Villages FL. My furniture was delivered Monday so we have been trying to unpack a little each day. Got to start some of the activities today when we went to one of the pools and exercised for about 30 minutes then joined a great group of people and played 2 hours of water volleyball. We had a ball (no pun intended). So we have found one of the exercises that will become steady. You can find several games every day at different times in one of the at least 15 sports pools. There are also aqua aerobics, aqua zumba, deep water exercises, etc. A great place but please keep it a secret as we don't want the place to become overrun!

Enough for now and hopefully I will find the time still to come on here before I wear myself out. Maybe I will have to post early morning before the day begins.

    Night sculpted friends.

Getting behind here again. Did a solid hour work out today with resistance, abs, and kettle bell!

Funny story about my gym that some of you folks whom remember the 70s may find amusing. There is a guy at my gym who works out periodically that looks like Tony Orlando, from the music group Tony Orlando and Dawn. He was there today, and whenever I see him, I want to break out singing "Tie a Yellow Ribbon around the Old Oak Tree." Sometimes the gym can be entertaining!

I'm behind again. I don't seem to have time to post during the week. I did 2 22 minute walks Tuesday. One at lunch. One atfter work. Twenty minutes Wednesday and Thursday as well. Today it is back to hot and sticky so my son and I went to the mall and walked 35 minutes. I was trying to cut back on the exercise some because my appetite is under better control that way and I'm still trying to lose 4 lbs I gained 4th of July week. I pulled out my old food diary to see what I was eating when I lost13 lbs and I'll try that starting tomorrow

Hello all, I swam for 20 minutes today, 6 laps. I'm slowly increasing the number of laps. I'm exhausted and achey but in a good way.

Patoo a friend of mine lives in the villages and loves it also.

Twohobbies, I find food diaries help me very much also.

Restful Friday night to you, my fellow active warriors!
