JazzyJune less pain=good news. Hoping for the continuation of "less irritation"
Enerva what a beautiful owl
Sas - yes food. You go out by ferry and dinghy for the day - it calls back for you in the afternoon/evening so you bring your own. Wine probably not a good combo with steep cliffs and rabbit holes tho!

Spot the seal! This was taken from way up high on a cliff.
Funny story:
I did 2 days on the island, last Friday and Saturday. You have to go out each day, no-one is allowed stay overnight there. (I like my hot and cold running water anyway so no problem going back to my B&B on the mainland!)
On the second day trip out there was a group from Northern Ireland who were VERY serious bird photographers.
They had lenses that would probably take detailed close up pictures of the moon :-) These lenses were the size of large telescopes.
I would say these photographers ended up with close up shots of birds teeth ;-) and those would be the birds 2 cliffs away from them.
They were lovely people and very knowledgeable. One of them was sitting down with his legs out in front of him. Suddenly a puffin ran out of a burrow and across his legs!! Of course he was there with a 600mm lens and no chance to take a photo of this up-close encounter!
Of course we were all slagging him and pretending we hadn't seen it and demanding photographic proof.

Sassy~ Mom has complete control of her physical abilities. She had 9 weeks of in home rehab and did great. She's been told 1000s of times not to go anywhere without her walker but she does. Her next fall is right around the corner if I don't keep after her, so I miss out on family events. She tells me she'll be okay on her own for a few days but I know her, she'll do something she's not supposed to do. She has her own apartment in our basement and is allowed to do her own thing. She fixes her breakfast and lunch and I bring her dinner. She can go up and down stairs but with me in front or behind her. She comes "up to my house" to visit but I get irritated with her because she's constantly grilling me about things that have nothing to do with her. I don't trust her as she just won't do as she's told. She's in her terrible 2s!
Jazzy~ Mom has complete control over her mental faculties, she just refuses to listen to what Dr's or I tell her. With her first fall her PCP told her not to move without her walker. The VERY NEXT DAY she fell and broke her hip! She'll swear she had her walker, but it was sitting by her recliner and she was on the dinning room floor. For her to have fallen and kicked her walker back over by her chair would have been impossible for me to even accomplish. She's a know-it-all teenager.
When I told Mom my surgery had been canceled her reply was "now that you have more time you can make an eye appointment for me" WTH? She averages 3 appointments a month and the Dr's all tell her there's nothing wrong with her. I've taken her to 3 neurologist, her response... "They don't know what their talking about" I've refused to take her to a 4th. I love her PCP! Dr Linda is more concerned with my having BC than my own mother is. Dr Linda told Mom on her last visit that "Lori has bigger things on her hands than you have. Lori needs to be able to take care of herself first. Without her your on your own" I was so thankful for the pep talk but it went in one ear and out the other. Mom has 4 Dr's appointments in the next 2 weeks. I'll have no down time before my surgery on 7/6. I'm exhausted due to Mom not the BC
I love my mom to pieces, I'm just afraid I'll come back home and find her in pieces. I ask the Lord forguidance on a regular basis 🙏🙏
Thank you for letting me vent! I feel much better!

Loverly- I wish I were a minimalist, more lazy and not into the Xmas decorating thing than others. Suffice it to say I love shoes.
Here is my newest pair of sandals, wore them yesterday.

sorry I haven't responded in a couple of pages...like 4.. Some how this thread got removed from my favs....what our fingers do when we aren't paying attention . Ahhhh0 -

Susan- love the photos and good to see little Elena doing well, growing, sleeping so good too. Lovely four generations photo too!
How is your DH doing?

hubby much better...still some concussion issues. But getting better every day
0 -
thank you Susan, much better than green beans! And 4 generations for you!
Wench, have you checked for home respite care for your mom, especially with your sx? You will not be able to catch her after your sx or there'll be more trouble than you can handle. They come in for 1-to however many hours you need, even if it's just babysitting her.
Jazzy, no green shoes? So we've seen 4-6 pairs of feet. Everybody else should show a pic.

Smarty- still mining the closet for the green shoes.....
0 -
Jazzygirl - Once you're finished mining your closet for your green sandels, can you please come help me look for that crib blanket I knitted. :0)
Smaarty - Are you back home? Hope you don't suffer horribly from the huge temperature change.
Feline - Really had to look but finally found the seal. What causes the rocks to be so green?
Wenchie - Sorry I misspoke about your Mom. I obviously misread one of the posts.
My own Mother has a narcissistic personality and has no ability to empathize with anyone else and their challenges. Everything is always horrible and everyone is always pis sing her off. When she finally agreed to get the walker her doctor ordered she complains how useless it is in her house, but she keeps it in the car to use when she's out and about.
So very glad her PCP spoke up for you. You need all the support you can get before/after surgery. Remember your boundaries and please follow Smaarty ' s advise about the respite care for caregivers.
If I could I'd be there to help.

Susan - Good to see you again. Pics are lovely. Elena looks so peaceful sleeping. Hope you get some rest.
Glad your DH is on the mend.
Shep - How are you doing today? How many shades of purple is your foot now. Hope it heals quickly.
I have a care conference at 2:00 p.m. today to discuss my progress. I was under the impression that I'd be here until July 5th, but they think I'm progressing well and may be discharged next week. So we'll see.

Feline Great fun on the island. That birder will be telling that Puffin story forever. LOL. Yes that's me. I'm a mess. My glasses created nasal membrane swelling. It took awhile to zero in on the cause. Can't wear those glasses. I'm skin sensitive to the other glasses and stopped wearing them late fall. But now I'm stuck. I may have to get one of those hood type magnifiers that sit on the head and flip down. Always something.
Wenchie, sorry you are having so much problems with Mom. Went through troubles with my dad. It is so stressful worrying about them. Glad you felt better after venting. Nothing like a good venting.
Apparently had allot of catching up to do, even did it twice.

Junie, Medicare pays 21 days. They are paid the 21 days even if you are discharged early. It's in their interest to discharge early. The conference is over. Even if their plan is to dc early doesn't mean that it will happen. Make sure you are independent before you let them dc you. How do you think you are doing?

Susan~ I'm loving the pictures of Elena, what a nice looking group of ladies! I think Elena is the cutest little girl I've seen in ages! Oops I can't leave Olivia out either!
Smaarty, I will definitely check into home respite. My DH has taken the first week of my sx off so I'll have help with Mom. He'll need to insist that he's home to help me and not wait on her. They are a hoot together!! He's thinking of having her come wait on me for awhile. My DD and her family will arrive around July 9th or 10th. Then they get to take over Mom! Mom just loves Jimmy (DSIL). Mom tells her DGD that she's lucky Grandma is toold or she'd give her a run for her money!
Uummm no showing of feet here! Mine are stomach turning uuuuugly!!
Jazzy~ no worries about misspeaking about Mom, she's a tough old bird. We fight like sisters sometimes but only when my fuse is very short. I make sure I apologize to her and she apologizes to me too.
I'll definitely take Smaarty's advise about the home respite. I hope you get to go home a little sooner than expected, what a nice surprise that will be! Thank you for offering to come lend a hand. It means the world to me! Mom would love the company and her apartment is big enough for two!

I had a bit of a scare this morning. I removed a tick from my neck yesterday morning and I had a very red swollen neck this morning. My PCP was able to get me in right away. He's treating me for Lyme disease although it's to soon to tell. He wants to be ahead of the game with everything I have going on right now. He's a very smart Doctor! Did I mention he's one heck of a cutie?!?!So what if I'm to old for him, I'm not blind!!

Lovely baby pics Susan
JazzyJune best wishes for your health conference. The rocks are green from a close growing seaweed, really slippy and slimy.
0 -
jazzy, do you feel ready to go home?
Wrechie, hope your neck is better soon. Scary.

Jazzyjune- oh I may be in there for awhile. I put some things in piles today to take to consignment.
That place you are staying looks very nice. The wet surfaces too. We are desperate for rain and hoping for a t-storm over here this afternoon.
My mother had a narcissitic personality too. That SIL I talked about was much like her and surprise, they really liked each other. I miss my mom sometimes, but don't miss that part of her.

Wenchie, so cool your doc is proactive on the tick bite. It's always sumpin. But with great docs behind us, around us, in front of us. A blessing. Where were you to get a tick? Odd thought, it will activate the immune system. Think it will kill cancer cells YAY.

I think it's real. I have seen water this clear in several countries. I need to find a picture of when we were in the Philippines. You can see the starfish on the ocean floor everywhere. St. John and Cozumel have water this clear too.

Ms. Sas, great invention. Ha!
JunieB, the mileage on our SUV is a bit over 100,000. We hope that we get another 100,000 for the $$ we put in to bring it back to par. I don't mind using public transportation if we had a better system here where I live. It would take me 3 times as long to get to work. So your 80 year old roommate cusses in her sleep? That's hilarious. Do you carry conversation with her during the day? Nice facility.
Feline, you didn't get a chance to snap the picture of the close encounter of the Puffin and the "professional photographer"? Awwww I would love to see his reaction. On a serious note, I'm sorry about your friend. It's heart breaking when a mother is taking away from her young children. God rests her soul and may her children be comforted by the loving adults in their lives. Hugs to you too.
Lori, we are sisters from another father. My mom is stubborn too. She won't listen to her doctor or us and bends the truth when confronted. Eventually, she will move in with us when the time comes. Got to do what you got to do.
Susan, lovely photo of the four generations. Elena is getting big. Her look is changing. So cute and angelic looking. You do look tire, but still beautiful.
Shepk, hope your appointment went ok.
Jazzy, how many pair of shoes do you have?
Ms. S, nice blue...what do you call it again? That fancy ottoman or foot rest?
Hello lurking friends

Wenchie, hope your neck is better today. Good thing your doctor got straight on it.
Thank you Lover.
No I didn't get a photo, to be fair to the guy, even if he had had the appropriate lens on his camera, he wouldn't have had a chance as the puffin barreled over him so fast. But it made a great joke "Yeah, yeah, sure. The puffin was THIS big" (mimes fishing catch gesture) etc
We are all in shock here over the British vote. It is very bad news.

Feline sorry about your friend. I missed that. Condolences to the family.
I watched Cameron's resignation and Bruce Johnson's speech. I take it you were a remainer? I was an exiter. I've been following the EU news for months. I think the EU commission is a dangerous body. Frightening how they are squelching freedoms all over the EU.
Did you know there was a plan to create an North American Union. The NAU would go from Central America , Mexico, USA, and Canada. Plans for the NAU and EU started after WW2.
