Mara Hope your resting and staying cozy with your kitties today.

shanagirl You sound like your snug as a bug cozy with your babies. Sometimes a peaceful relaxing day is needed for a reset. Sometimes I just enjoy the peacefulness of my bedroom as a relaxing escape from everything!

Was a good day, met a old friend for a quick lunch. Always nice to catch up in person rather than texting. Sinuses are telling me rain is on the way. Anymore I feel like I'm always as I say "sinusy" grateful for sudafed that gives me relief. Plus a neighbor just dropped off a tray of delicious cookies which was a very nice surprise. Wishing all a restful evening.

  • @cookie54 Same same , everything you said, exactly 👍 I so relate to all in. Your comment. I’m glad you got out to meet a friend. I love good neighbors.😊

  • Good morning (barely) to any night owls still up. Hope you are finding peace and comfort and the spirit of the season.

Mara, that dizziness worries me. I hope it passes quickly and you get back to your usual busy self. Hope your cane has a good rubber stopper on the bottom. I find the rollator works much better. Plus I can sit on it for a break, though not recommended. As long as I don't move around while sitting on it, I feel safe.

I am in awe of the strength in decision making for kbl, sunshine and any others. I don't know exactly how my life will end, but I know I don't want it to be in a hospital with tubes shoved everywhere in an effort to prolong things. It's not easy for any of us to keep our spirits and fortitude up and going. As Rosann rosanna dana said, "It's always something".

We now have an unidentifiable critter in our yard. Nix the spider monkey. This creature runs so fast that we can't identify it. We caught it on security camera, but again it moved so fast we could only make out a small tail, grey body, doesn't hope like a rabbit or run like a squirrel. It's enjoying the dry cat food, apples and peanuts. You all are welcome to come sit and watch these animals that bring so much joy and entertainment. I asked for quality bird seed, sunflower seed and peanuts for Christmas. Hmm, wonder who that could be for. lol In pockets for scans and life in general.

Irish What's going on down in Florida lol? You have your own wildlife reserve it seems. It's because your so sweet to all the animals and the word is out on the street! Can't wait to hear what this one is!

Hey Mara, thinking of you hoping your feeling a little better today. Will check on ya later.

Cookie, I slept well last night, cold is still around but nothing too major, no dizziness today thankfully. The dizziness yesterday subsided after some food as well. Thank you for checking in.

Not sure what is on the go if anything today with DB, he will let me know. As far as my own day, just have to vacuum and mop the floor. Washed the inside of the wet dry vac in the washer as well then wiped down with rubbing alcohol as a quick disinfectant. There was a lot of lint that needed to come out so tossed the inside of the wet dry vac into the washer to give it a good cleanout and dried with a towel. Looks good now. My lint collectors in the washer had a lot of lint. I have 3 so that nothing goes down the drain, two of them that float and the one that came with the washer.

I am going out with DB, we do not need too much grocery wise so perhaps there will be time to look at Christmas lights around the block or elsewhere.

I am going to open another can of lentils and make up the lentils almost fried in my butter, garlic and cooking spray in the fry pan, once that is done, add some chopped shredded cheese, that is just shredded cheese chopped in with croutons and wheat bran and add some beefless ground, heat all in the pan and just put a lid on after I turn off the heat on the burner, should be good. Later, I could take a quesadilla, chop it with a normal can to make a quesadilla later in my mini griddle. We will see about that.

I hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for anyone who needs me.

Shana - Like Cookie, I'm just so glad you are comfy and relaxing - especially at this time of year, and with the dreary weather you described. Always so nice to hear how you are doing.

Cookie - I've never heard of sinuses indicating a weather change before, but I sure believe it could. I get all sorts of aches and pains and even chills sometimes and I know a front of some kind is coming in, but my sinuses have never "foretold" anything. I'm going to pay attention to that one.

Irish - Yes, it sounds like you live in a wildlife preserve - so nice. I just read that there are some sort of "not normal" monkeys on the loose at various locations in Florida right now and that residents are being asked not to feed them, etc. I don't know if it's your area or not. I totally agree with the old, "It's always something!" thing. It's sure that way for me.

Mara - So glad to hear that you seem to be on the mend. So often when we get what seems to be a cold, it can turn into something worse, but yours does indeed seem like an "just" an annoying, but passing cold. Here's to ongoing improvement and a pleasant day!

Have a wonderful day everyone. Always thinking of you when I come here, Mel. Hope you are having more peaceful days and enjoying some holiday time with quiet reflection.

I am going out tonight so needed a quick supper. Just put some beefless ground, shredded cheese, mixed those by hand and then added a good amount of garlic spread, heated for 4 mins 30 seconds in the wee microwave. Letting it cool off for a few minutes and will eat. Going to change afterward and take 3 bags of garbage out. Tossing over the side of the stairs and picking up as I can do it. Would be nice if a neighbour showed up to help me but need to rely on myself too.

    Mae, congrats on you anniversary!

I started out wearing the midsole cleats but took them off when I got home. I almost pitched forward due to one of the cleats sliding off my foot, luckily I got hold of myself and no fall happened. I did get all the garbage bags out which makes me happy. I also used a lot of ice salt on the front step as it looked icy to me but I have two more bags of the ice salt that I can use though.

  • @illimae That’s very good news on stable scans! I love to hear that. Good Reason to celebrate your 24 yr anniversary over a a nice dinner together at that Steakhouse.♥️ Sounds. great. Early Happy Anniversary. wishes to you & DH.🥰

@cookie54 my body always let’s me know whenever there is a significant weather system coming. through. usually the daybefore. it’s due to the barometric change. My sinuses and joints are always affected…When I start feeling like that I always as my DH. is it going to rain this week and he always says yes, a storm is coming tomorrow…😉

Illimae - Congratulations on good scans and your anniversary! How nice to be able to go out and celebrate all, while you're there in Houston. Have a great dinner!

Mara - Sounds like you continue to get better - yay!

Intolight - So nice to hear that PT has been helping. Also glad you are updating us, because the idea of cancer specific PT is very interesting to me.

Shana - So you're another one whose sinuses tell you about the weather. That's really interesting to me, as I've always had the joints thing, and then I can get chills as a weather system comes in too, but never noticed the sinus stuff. I am going to be on alert for that one.

@mara51506 Glad to hear you're feeling better! Stinks that you didn't get out for a drive tonight but glad you got the trash out safely.

@illimae Awesome news, happy for you! Perfect time to celebrate stable and your anniversary. Cheers to you and DH on 24 years!

@intolight Yea seems weird right? My friend also swears by the same sinus issues. We believe we are affected by the barometric pressure. Glad you have improved your stamina with PT. New year new goals , you'll get there a little at a time.

@shanagirl You too huh…maybe it's a "Jersey thing" lol. Definitely agree with the barometric pressure. Big chill coming this weekend stay cozy.

Wishing all a peaceful and restful night.

I did wind up going out for a drive and checked out a new grocery store, it is a lower cost store across the street from the hospital, when weather is decent and I have a hospital appointment, figure I can go pick stuff up that I need after the appointment and book the return trip home. SIL thought I could just call from the grocery store but I told her I would have to book a ride home separately since the hospital and return trip from the hospital are considered a complete trip.

We did go and drive up and down parts of town that have the most lights to see, that was really nice to do and of course really enjoyable. I did get more than I thought I would but that is OK too. More meat pie and cheese.

I have laundry on the go, got regular cloths and will be washing a blanket as well once first load is gone, regular chores, floor dusting and mopping. My cat Tigger eats enough but he is skinny so looked up how to get a cat to gain weight and it turns out kitten food can help with that so he will get kitten food and Ava who is a bit chunky will get the regular food. I am also planning to pull out the step bench I used to use in the tub under the washer which does not hold it in place and start using it for a gentle workout, mainly to assist in going down steps, increase the confidence I have in doing that.

I will be doing something with lentils and salad this morning. Take the frypan, put cooking oil and some butter and fry up the lentils and put together an actual salad. May also take some beefless ground with the lentils, add taco seasoning and mix a small amount of caesar dressing with sour cream and go with the salad vibe. I will see about that, got plenty of food, did get a couple of frozen pasta as well.

I do hope everyone has a good day and I am in everyone's pocket who needs me as well.

Mara - Out to see the Christmas lights - good for you. That is always so nice. A friend of mine told me that she and another one of her friends tried to do that here the other night, but the weather was just too nasty, so they were half way to a neighborhood known for light displays and turned around and went back. Thought they might try it later. I just enjoy whatever I can see of my neighbors' from my apartment window anymore. It's not as good as getting out, but it does make the holiday a little brighter.

Yes, I do enjoy the ride through looking at the lights as well.

OMG, there is a lot being built where the wee grocery store was built, there will be a Wendy's, already have a Tim Hortons and there will be a Dollar Tree going in. Our dollar Trees do not have freezer sections, good storage though. Once the snow is gone, can take Paratransit and look around. It is milding up next week though so snow will definitely do some good melting as well. A discount store may be going in as well. Interesting, I like where I am located as there are many places to go grocery shopping within a couple of square kms or a square mile.

Well, Tigger is liking the kitten food which is good, really am trying to fatten him up a bit since he is thinner than he used to be. Ava is still getting regular food since she would just puff out like a marshmallow on kitten food.

  • @mara51506 glad Tigger is liking the kitten food and Ava does not push him out of the way to eat it herself. Good experiment with the kitten food. I too have 2 cats, Igor (the tuxedo) is the active skinny one and eats anything and does not gain weight. But Jordan (black with a white belly) is now 26 pounds, and waddles like a giant marshmallow lol.. Hard to feed both boys and keep them from eating each others food.

@goldensrbest That pic is absolutely adorable! Love the pup on the end actually smiling , precious. The concert sounds like it was amazing, glad you got out to enjoy it! We had a dusting last night , just enough to look festive. Hope your home and enjoying the view today.

Mara Glad you were out for a drive and shopping. Love that your will have easy access to more stores in your travels. Dollar Tree is some good browsing and some good finds sometimes.

@eleanora Hi there, nice to see you! Happy Holidays to you and your family also.

@threetree Agree it's nice to just relax and look out your window to enjoy the lights also. Sometimes even better if you live in a cold climate. We're in a cold snap right now and now bundling up for the dog's walk.

Thinking of all here and Mel I hope Theo is bringing you comfort ♥️

@rlschaller Wow, 26 lbs, probably does not eat overly much. I had a cat Dippy, she did not eat extra food but she was a small calico shaped like a football, I had to give her baths as she could not clean herself. First cat that chose me. She died of breast cancer the irony not lost on me. Cats are like humans with fast or slow metabolisms.

I am in the middle of laundry, will have blankets too, woke up with blood on sheets from a bloody nose, I am guessing the dry weather, not of the belief it is something more nefarious, just lined the inside of my nose with vaseline and will see what happens. Leave the blankets affected to soak a bit first then wash as normal. Never had a bloody nose so that was new. I still have other bigger blankets I want to wash too.

Tigger LOVES the kitten food, giving him that to hopefully help him gain a few pounds. Ava still getting regular food.

Decided I am going to take apart old washer in tub, got drain snakes in case that is where the plugged part of the hose is. I just keep having visions of the washer just gushing out the water in my closet and that will not work for me. In the new year, if I have not fixed it, will get someone to repair it. The cost is similar to have hauled to the junk place to fixing it. I will do what youtube has shown me first and go from there.

Made a frozen stir fry with pasta, warmed in microwave first, while doing that, sprayed pan with cooking oil and turned burner up to high, melted some of a stick of butter in the pan, added the stir fry with pasta and added some beefless ground and cheese. Turned heat to medium and stirred everything some, added some sour cream and onion seasoning and some salt, stirred once again, turn off the heat and am letting it sit, not sure it will need any binder, I will see how it comes out. I do find that when I rub butter on the pan, things taste even better that are heated through. Even lentils are really good when done up that way, gives them taste of beef when seasoned right.

Anyway, not doing a ton of stuff today, laundry will get off to the dryer, I will pick blankets that could use a wash as well. If I do manage to fix up the old washer will make some mesh lint catchers that float in the tub, I usually put zip ties around the net and through the foam top, I did that before and those are still going strong.

I hope everyone has a good day and I am in everyone's pocket who needs me.

I am adding that using butter at bottom of pan and adding pre heated frozen pasta stir fry with carrots and broccoli, adding beefless ground and handful of cheese was delicious, there is something to be said for buttering the bottom of the pan to add some extra flavour dimension. Only extra added was sour cream and onion dry seasoning. It was delicious. Left on hi with the burner, turned it to medium while stirring and then turned pan off and put a lid on, nothing burned.

With much struggle, got the old washer in the tub, took out 1st section of washer side and ran the drain cleaner through, nothing came through. The pump I bought fit right in the hole and I was able to get most if not all of the water out of the machine, none out the regular drain but it could be used IF I removed and put the little section that comes out on the wash side. I can and will use the machine, really not an issue for me to take the section and pump into a bucket. I am still interested in taking the back off and see where the clog is. I can do that later, will just keep around for smaller loads as needed or if blankets on the go could do other stuff at the same time, pump into a bucket, and dry machine. I want to try spinning stuff tomorrow as well, see what happens now that the machine is dry, it should work.

  • It's beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas… Hi all you sweet gals. I hope each and every one of you and your family are finding the sweetness of this time of year. Our DGD, aged 10, asked to host a Christmas Party at our home. Well today was the day. DD and I did all the cooking and DGD did the set up and baked the cookies. We had a lovely turnout of neighbors and a total of 4 little girls and 1 little boy, plus parents. You know what I really loved, one guest is a college instructor originally from Poland. She bought her Mom (speaks only Polish), her husband (from Columbia-they met on line) and her beautiful little girl. Next guest was from Russia. She married an American and has 3 children. Such a joy for all the cultures and customs to come together. Missed our other neighbor from Panama (she was on a cruise). Whole lot of work, but a beautiful memory was made today. Wish you all could have joined us. Food, food and more food (some even junk food, lol).

Mystery solved on creature at our home. I finally saw it in the light of today. It is a juvenile all gray very sleek and fast cat. It won't come to me and neighbors reported seeing the cat climb trees and hide under cars. I put a box out last night because it was cold, but he or she did not use it. Plenty of dry cat food outside. I posted on our local cat lost and found board. No luck.

Dentist tomorrow. MO stopped Xgeva shot that I was do for on Friday. Swelling in my gum, so need to check it out. He also ordered CT scan (gotta drink that nast stuff) of abdominal area. Concerns that colitis/diverticultis isn't clearing and he's concerned with too many antibiotics and risk of developing C-diff. Dealing with extreme anemia according to blood test. I am exhausted. MO ordered IV iron next visit. We'll see about all these side effects of treatment and hopefully clear each one so I can stay on Ibrance.

    Merry Christmas sweet ladies.
