Good morning, girls, thank you all! I’ve already had the second session, it was a little better and I don’t feel anything strange so far 😊 Only 13 more to go 😅
@grammie2 the running nose must have definitely been a side effect because it’s already passed. Here, they don’t want me to take any medication for now to detoxify the body, only if it’s really necessary and if the side effects interfere with my normal life, so I’ll manage 😊 but the Claritin would definitely solve the problem! I was talking to a lady who is also on Trastuzumab, and she said that these side effects decrease over time. Let’s hope that happens for us too! It's not serious either, it's just a few days where it feels like we have rhinitis and then it passes. You're almost done, April will be here in no time 😊
Wishing everyone a great weekend!

@grammie2 @djschmidt1 How are you both doing feelings-wise? I scrolled back and saw what you wrote about the strange brew of emotions you were having. Here’s my experience. Maybe it’s something like this for you? I’m still anxious more or less at different times now treatment is over. I’m glad to be alive and relieved and grateful my treatment is over. It was hard. And yet… there was comfort and reassurance in have the sword and shield of treatment to attack the cancer and protect me from it, that’s no longer there. I know I also had some grief around my body being forever changed in some ways… no feeling in my breasts, energy level different (maybe that will come back?), my appearance different, that stuff.
@catarina_fm I am so sorry radiation started off so rough and uncomfortable! I’m glad this past time was better. I’m cheering you on through the 13 you have to go!
@jessybessy @beekaycro24 I am sending you both love and positive vibes no matter what the pathology results are. Amazing effective treatment will be on your side to take care of you and blast away anything residual if you need it. You got this!
Have a peaceful restful weekend, my lovelies!!!1 -
@aborayis thanks for sharing your thoughts and how it is for you. It's wonderful feeling grateful and thankful for sure!! I do think part of my "down days" are connected to the low energy still and the body changes. Even though I knew full well that bouncing back takes some time, I hoped it would happen more quickly.
Happy Friday everyone!! Have a safe and blessed weekend!!

@aborayis I have good days and not great days, none are really horrible but I'm also dealing with the job loss which complicates it further. I need to get back to exercise which will help but I struggle with motivation. I’m hoping to get on a regular schedule with walking once my job ends to help…

@grammie2 @djschmidt1 Hugs and love to you both. And gratitude to you and the whole group for sharing yourselves, ups and downs and all, and allowing me to do the same. What a blessing. Thank you.

Hey ladies. I could use some prayers please. I started having some pain in my right shoulder, especially when I coughed. Thought I might have pneumonia so went to my family dr. Negative for everything. I had some weird bruising show up near my port. She said it wasn't hot and wasn't painful so didn't think it was a concern but took a pic for my chart. I noticed last night that I have some swelling to the right of where the port cath is near my collarbone. Stupid me started googling and there are lymph nodes there which has me very uneasy. Do I have a 2nd cancer??? Called the surgeon who did the cath and she is out on medical leave and can't get an appt until next week. They transferred me to my breast surgeon who is out sick. But her nurse just called and asked me to send some pics. So I don't know if the swelling is port related or lymph node swelling at this point. But the bruise that showed up at the port is really weird. Thanks for letting me whine!

@grammie2 prayers that they get this figured out quickly. I wonder if the oncologist would know?
I saw my radiation oncologist yesterday as a follow up after my mammogram, etc. She noted the tenderness and lack of ROM I am having at my surgery site and armpit, said it could be a nerve that is stuck in scar tissue and had me come back later yesterday to give me an injection of steroids with numbing meds. I only share this to say, these folks have all kinds of cross knowledge, I have to believe your ONC has seen this before.

@grammie2 I'm almost sure you have an infection in the port (that's common). You'll probably have to remove it, but I really don’t believe it’s anything serious! Don't be surprised if the lymph nodes in that area are swollen because of the infection! It has nothing to do with cancer—lymph nodes swell when they are fighting an infection. I'm rooting for you—let us know as soon as you can. Stay strong!

Not trying to be sexy here LOL….just us ladies haha! This is the pic I sent to the surgeon's nurse. Haven't heard back yet.

@grammie2 Praying for you! I hope it's an infection in the port and not anything in your lymph nodes. Keep us posted!
@jessybessy - Have you had your surgery? If so, how are you?
I'm still waiting on the pathology report…AGH! It seems like it takes forever…lol. I go on Thursday for my Herceptin (Ogivri) infusion and my surgery follow-up appointment. I'll update afterwards.

@beekaycro24 surgery on Thursday and am bricking it (British slang for terrified, lol). Go for axillary injection etc tomorrow and equally not psyched about that, but doing yoga etc to stay calm.
Eeeekkkk how long have you been waiting for your pathology report? Waiting is the WORST! Sending muchos love x

Is your anxillary injection like a marker placement or biopsy? Honestly? That hurt worse than the surgery. I hope your surgery goes as well as mine. I have a 2 inch scar on the side of my breast, close to my underarm. Only saw bruising the day of and day afteafter surgery. Pain has been minimal. I hate, hate, hate sleeping in a bra! I cannot wait to be done with it…lol. On the day of surgery (last Monday) my surgeon told my husband the pathology report "might" be in by Friday of last week. I had read online that they usually take two weeks to come back, so I was surprised to have heard he said that. I'm thinking the hubs might have misunderstood. Regardless, I see both my onc and surgeon on Thursday, so maybe they'll have news.

@grammie2 that really doesn't seem like cancer, but rather something related to the catheter! Don't stress, you'll see that it has a simple solution 🙏
@jessybessy It's almost time! Which axillary injection are you talking about? Could it be the dye injection they give to make the sentinel lymph node visible? If so, it didn’t hurt me, but what I found difficult was having to massage my breast to make the dye flow to the lymph nodes. I had to massage it for an hour, and the lymph nodes just wouldn’t show up—I was so fed up! For me, it was just annoying.
Or are you talking about the placement of the clips? I only had those placed on the day of the surgery.
Either way, you'll see that everything goes by so fast that in the blink of an eye, you'll be home with the surgery done. Stay strong, dear! 🌻
@beekaycro24 I'm really happy that everything went well for you, and from what I've seen, that seems to be the usual 😊
I also hate sleeping with a bra! It was such a relief when I could stop wearing it.We're waiting for your updates!

@beekaycro24 yeah I think it's a marker? I'm not too sure. I know they do the pathology during the actual surgery.
My surgeon is very high energy and makes you laugh a lot so I'm sure she'll put me at ease on the day, have just never been put to sleep before and guess I don't like the loss of control that comes with that.
I'm sure they will have news on Thursday. All the waiting is horrible though, this process sucks. Sending you huge hugs 🤗

@catarina_fm I'm hoping it's cath related. It's the swelling near the collarbone that has me concerned about it being a swollen node, which is right at and a little above where the cath is on the bone. I don't feel anything other than what feels like fluid. Mine has always aggravated my collarbone. I wish my MO would tell me to come over and let them flush it. That might tell us something. Not due for it to be flushed until my next Phesgo on the 13th. Last flush was 1/3.
@jessybessy you will do great! I had never been put to sleep before the cath (which was only semi knocked out) and then full out for surgery. I was concerned too. But they had me in la la land before wheeling me out of the preop room. I had no care in the world at that point. And I bet you are getting markers that will guide them to the affected areas (tumor and nodes if any). Mine were called RFID markers…radio frequency id's I think. My surgeon also gave me an injection of radioactive stuff right before surgery. Helps with the lymph node trail I think.
@beekaycro24 they really are making you wait a long time!! Pretty sure mine was back in two days. I'm not sure I could have waited that long LOL!! Hopefully very soon!!

my mo wants to see me asap. Headed there now please pray!

@grammie2 I’m so glad you are headed for the Mao. Praying! I do think your port is infected and that this is not a cancer issue. Waiting with everyone else to hear!
@jessybessy i love how you describe your aurgeon! They sound wonderful and also attuned to putting you at ease. Maybe you can ask if they will come and hold your hand as you go under (or maybe they already do this). I have a favorite memory of my entire treatment for cancer which was of my surgeon doing just this. It was a moving and beautiful moment that made me feel calm and deeply cared for by this person. I’m sure the gesture helped me long after.

they are leaning towards a clot. I have an ultrasound scheduled in the morning. But being the lovely proactive caregivers they are they sent me home with blood thinners and antibiotics. If it’s a clot the tech won’t release me until they talk with my dr. So I will be further instructed if it a clot If it’s not I will continue with the antibiotics and they will check me next week when I get my phishing injection.

@grammie2 so happy to hear that you have a responsive care team and a plan in place! It sounds like you are on the right meds. Wishing you a speedy recovery from this bruising and swelling!
For those ladies waiting.. waiting on surgery..or waiting on test results..we can all relate.. frustrating but this too will pass. Breathe and stay present 🙏

@grammie2 I knew it wasn’t cancer, but I was afraid you had an infection in your port. I think they also called you to the hospital to give you antibiotics and prevent bigger problems! If it’s a clot, you’re already taking anticoagulants, which is great. If it’s an infection, the antibiotics will take care of it too. Let’s see if they can keep the port or if you’ll have to remove it. Either way, I hope you can feel more at ease now 😊

Hey all! Good news! No blood clot. Now I take the antibiotics and see if they take care of it. I had originally thought I would keep the port until I'm done with Phesgo and they "hopefully" do a full body scan. Just in case something should show up. But now I'm thinking about asking to have it removed. Who has had theirs removed? Or what are your thoughts on having your port taken out? I am really glad I had the port for chemo, but it does aggravate my neck/collarbone area.
1 -
per my oncologist, mine will come out after my first bloodwork followup in early May. Mine has bothered me as well, cant wait to have it removed.
1 -
@grammie2 good, I’m glad it’s nothing serious 🙏 My doctor has already requested its removal; I’m just waiting for an available slot, but I think they’ll take it out within a month or two. And if she agrees to remove it, it means the chances of not needing it are very high 😊 We also risk it causing problems and getting infected the longer it stays in the body. So, let's do it 😉

@grammie2 SO glad it's not a clot. If I were having issues with my port, I'd have it taken out.
@jessybessy Thinking of you. Praying all goes well for your surgery tomorrow!

@jessybessy I'll be thinking of you all day 🙏 I hope everything goes really well, and soon you'll have the worst part of this behind you. Stay strong!🌻

@jessybessy Thinking of you! Waiting to hear how it went when you feel up to it.
@grammie2 I’m glad it’s all figured out and being treated. I had my port out after my year of HP infusions was done. It was not a big deal at all. I was awake and it didn’t take long. I don’t remember down time other than some restrictions on getting it wet for a bit. I was definitely way more comfortable in that area once it was out.

I did not get my first post surgery infusion today because my pathology report still wasn't in. However, I did go for my post-surgery follow-up with my surgeon. He had called the pathologist and said my results would be completed today. He later called me with those results. All of the invasive ductal carcinoma has been removed, but I did not achieve PCR...bummer. The report also showed we did not have clear margins, so I'm scheduled for surgery for late Monday morning to remove more tissue and all lymph nodes under my arm. The nodes are being removed because one tested positive for cancer. The margins on the tumor are showing as Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ. I go back to my onc on February 27th and will receive Kadcyla. I don't know if it will be through my port or not, but I do know it will be every three weeks for one full year. I am also going to have radiation whenever the time is right. I asked my surgeon about doing a mastectomy on my right side as opposed to lumpectomy. He said the only benefit would be not having radiation on my breast, but I would still have to have it under my arm because the lymph node removal. So, I'm choosing to stick with lumpectomy. I told him I didn't care if I had a wonky boob, just get it all out…lol. Anyway, I'm still processing and desperately trying to stay hopeful and upbeat. One good thing is the Kadcyla is supposed to not be as hard on my body as the TCHP treatments were. I have always said this is out of my hands and am going along with God's plan. It's really hard not trying to guess what he's planning though! I'm gonna just keep on keeping on.
