Can't begin to believe/accept that Sondraf has passed. Frankly I didn't think bone only could be the culprit. I thought it had to be organ or brain. She certainly was an incredibly wonderful gal. As others have said in their tribute to her, she will be missed beyond measure. Deepest sympathy to her family and loved ones. @snow-drop sigh..

I wanted to pass on an ointment that is compounded by our pharmacist for bone pain @tanya_djamila It has helped me with the severe back pain quite a bit. IT'S: Benzocaine 20%, Lidocaine 10% and Tetracaine 10%. For months I have alternated between lidocaine roll on (4%) and the lidocaine patch, also 4%. They only made a small impact and the patches would not stay on very well. Waiting 6 weeks now for the neuro-surgeon referral/appt.

I hope that the MO finds a medication to stop that liver progression @threetree. And shingles, oh how awful. I had one round of them. They started on my head and progressed over my forehead to top eyelid. The opthamologist treated me and luckily got it under control before reaching the cornea.

We signed a contract to buy Andersen windows today. Our current windows are aluminum frames and two are in complete failure despite added chalking. Two don't open at all. Buggies make their way in. They may be small but they are still buggies. Getting ready for hurricane season. Windows are very expensive and we have a rather small home. But it's better then buying plywood or aluminum to cover windows and then have to repair the stucco after removal.

As our nation celebrates Memorial Day (or as my Grandparents called it Decoration Day), may families know their loved ones that served our country are not forgotten. God bless and keep you.

Snowdrop, I can empathize with you about all the hospitalization holding a person down, I am sorry for you and us all about losing her.

Tanya, hope you get a good visit from your family and in pocket for the port removal.

Threetree, you are welcome, sending you as much support as you need.

I went to bed earlier and woke up earlier which is good, will be phoning Paratransit shortly for Wed Herceptin trip.

I am quite enjoying the vacuum sweeper, works well, fits under fairly low stuff and works sideways. Still need sweeping to get into corners but that is fine with me. Very light and easy to use, still have the robot vac as well which is presently in use. Regular vacuum is good too as the sweeper machine is not expected to clean up a ton of stuff. I also use an air blower to force extra fur out of places too and vacuum that up as well.

I do not have any laundry to start with today which is fine, got it done yesterday but if jonesing for a load, wash other stuff, initially will sew up the mesh and keep the floating tops on top of floating lint filters. Both washers are rough on the poor guys and if I replaced as they broke would spend more than groceries.

Will be phoning Paratransit then getting breakfast. Probably eggs, frozen peppers OR potatoes and beefless ground, save green beans for a different meal. I am going to add cheese to the breakfast and microwave. If adding beans, will chop them up first, no need to chop anything else. May also add some of the cheeseburger seasoning I have from the Hamburger Helper stuff. Later, some sort of tortilla meal, been enjoying simple peanut butter tortillas at night too. I have found other than the chipotle from Taco Bell brand, the other seasonings are not exciting but that is OK too since I can mix other things in there too to make it taste better to me. I cannot find ranch seasoning so will keep buying ranch dressing which is good to use as a binder and to add taste to a meal. I also will be frying up a burger to blend with some rice and beefless ground, keep in fridge to spoon out to other meals, finish in a couple of days I think.

For now, took some pizza crust I had in the fridge, added green beans and two eggs to the magic bullet, whipped up into a liquid which is fine, will use chips to add little crunch, tortilla I think and some other seasonings too. Not crunchy particularly but that is fine. Queso and sour cream mixed is good.

I hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone who needs me as well.

Irish - I want to thank you for specifically mentioning Memorial Day and thinking of those who died in battle. I too think it is really important that we remember the holiday and what it's truly about. When we all have our barbeques and days at the beach, etc. on this week-end, it's nice to keep in mind just why we are able to have these nice times with family and friends, and that so many sacrificed their lives for us to be able to be here and enjoy these things. I had forgotten about "Decoration Day". Thanks for that reminder too - I remember hearing that term a lot more when I was a child. It was on all the calendars and I think my mother explained it to me as "another" term for Memorial Day or something. I just might like that name better.

Re the shingles, I'm sorry you had to experience this too, and hope it wasn't bad. I only have a mild case with only a small area of rash, that seems like it's not ever going to blister over. As painful as this small patch has been, I just can't imagine what someone goes through with a large swath of their body affected - or near or in their eye! Oh my, what a nightmare that would be! The small area of rash that I have is still there (a little more than a week after it appeared), but it's never blistered and the pain seems to be gradually subsiding. What I didn't know was how generally ill you can feel with this too, with body aches and fatigue. I've still got some of that going on too, but improving. I finished the anti-viral (Acyclovir) and I am thinking that getting going on that within the first 24 hours of the rash appearing has made all the difference. I am feeling very, very lucky that I've had what seems to be a pretty mild experience indeed!

Good luck with your windows. I haven't had a house now for years and years and while sometimes I miss it, when I hear about issues like you are having with your windows, I think I did the right thing in deciding to move from my house to an apartment all those years ago when I got divorced. It would be impossible for me to keep up with things by myself. You are so lucky to have your husband and extended family there with you. From what I know those Andersen doors and windows are the best they make, so this should shore you up real well for the coming hurricane season, and for years to come. I think you'll be real happy and glad you did this when it's all finished and behind you.

For all US people, Happy Memorial Day.

Tanya, have a good visit with your family.

I did a quick vacuum sweep as soon as I woke up, have more chores but that is no problem, got the robot vac, I actually enjoy it. Laundry to do and dishes to finish, they were in the sink all night, need to do more stuff in one dish and get back on track washing as I go. Brain still wants the dishwasher but I keep shutting it down. Nowhere to put it and would be around 400 dollars to wash two sets of serving, not practical at all.

Sunny today, may pick up a prescription, would be a half hour walk but I have all the cooling stuff, neck fan, evaporative head band and a cooling towel for the wrist if need be. I will see how today works out. Overkill but I do not see why not, the hat would be the star with the superwide brim keep sun off my face.

Discovered toasted tortillas, I just took one, put some butter on it and threw it in the breville oven on the toast function, nice and crunch, just put a bit of peanut butter on. Other option is a sort of pizza vibe but with garlic and cheese, perhaps some beefless ground, I will see later as the toasted tortilla is a nice new thing to eat and could be used to add crunch until I locate my croutons. Going to clean my choppers and chop up a smaller amount of kale and put on a tortilla with beefless ground and cheese on top, toast it and eat like a pizza. Other thing is to use 1/2 tortilla in multiple ways or flavour with different seasonings.

Edit I decided to make some KD pasta and season with caesar and sour cream. Use some of the taco seasoning from the taco bell I did not like too much. Was 1/2 cup KD pasta, boiled 1/2 cup water, put in same amount of pasta and stirred once, turned off the burner and covered with lid. Added some sour cream, the garlic and mexican rice seasoning, salt and a bit of the cheeseburger seasoning from the Hamburger helper package. The sour cream did make it less spicy. It was really very good if not terribly nutritious. I do like using the pasta and cheese sauce separate from KD, make a box last longer for me AND have extra seasoning. Tonight will be the pizza.

Meantime, not feeling a walk, perhaps take a free bus tomorrow to the mall to spend a couple of dollars, limit of 5 bucks at Walmart to stock a couple of things for myself, I will have to see what I wish to do. I have been backing out of riding the bus different places but no more, going to have the ramp lowered to accomate a larger step down, even when bus kneels. Tomorrow might just be the day to be more brave. I use a lift on the Paratransit, no need not to use the ramp on the regular bus.

Paid off a couple of bills and planning a LOT of frugality, putting an extra bit of money extra from the bills into my savings. Still have not used up credit I put aside this month, will simply leave it there. I have also set limits on what I can spend period and if I need cat food and beans and such, play games for the Amazon gift card or a wamart gift card, offset some of those expenses. We will see.

I do hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for everyone who needs me whether here or in real life as well. Lot of people struggling right now and best I can do send good feelings their way.

Tanya - Somewhere back on the last page, I think I missed you when I meant to respond to your message. Thanks to Mara for mentioning your family visit just above, as it jogged my memory. I've been extra tired all week and haven't been able to keep everything straight.

I did want to thank you for your sympathies about my liver issues. Yes, there do seem to be a lot of treatment options, so hopefully there's something out there that will work for awhile. I didn't know that Mel had that Y90 years ago. That is something that gives me hope, if she has been able to keep on keepin' on all this time after that. More power to her!

I'm sorry about your back pain, and it's a shame if it came from working in the garden. I've got arthritis too and it is so annoying how it can get in the way of otherwise real nice times, like walking, gardening, etc. I guess it's just another one of those things we have to learn to put up with. Good luck with your port removal too. It would be nice if you didn't have to get a new one, at least not for a long time. I had mine with chemo and then they took it out, so I haven't had one for 3 or 4 years now I think. They did tell me I might have to get another one down the road, depending, but for now I am just loving not having to deal with that at all! Maybe you can get a good stretch of time too.

Enjoy your PA visit. I'm sure it will be real nice to see your family.

Chicagoan- The way I understand it is that bone-only can go to the bone marrow as it progresses. And that is the reason we die with bone-only disease. Maybe I am totally wrong. If anyone disagrees, just correct me.

Slept pretty well last night which is good.G

Drain is still plugged, did a wash and as I expected, drain still clogged. No time before the appointment to do anything about it anyway, this was after I used a bottle of draino on it. Going to leave towels in the tub to clear out the water and worry later, got a wee washer doing the rinse cycle, will squeeze laundry by hand for now. Use towels to help get the water out in order to lift out the washers and call property manager to fix the drain. Still not upset particularly but can say it annoys me none the less. I also do not feel like plunging at the moment either. Easy enough to use a towel to squee

EPlanning to have a couple eggs with beefless ground and cheese, do up in the microwave before I go today. Add some pasta or rice, figure out seasonings after cooked up as well or make toast out of a tortilla to go along with the meal. Decided if I want pizza later, can make that too.

I have a bunch of lightweight litter from Amazon, we are talking 8 jugs, I usually buy 3 or four at a time because they get used quickly but I missed where I selected one and all of a sudden my house was full, got them in the bedroom for now. They will get used up soon enough. Still enjoying my vacuum sweeper and robot vac as well.

Hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone who needs me, in own pocket to not spend time worrying which is getting easier by the moment, just need to wash in other ways. Pull out the salad spinner if need be too.

Nice day today. Slept alright. I know I fell asleep yesterday evening, was late to bed but that is fine.

Got a bunch of plumbing aids, draino, enzyme sticks and the wet dry vac I could not cancel. That is fine. Will use as needed.

I was extra depressive yesterday and super exhausted post Herceptin, could not find the energy to get the recycling packed up. I am feeling better today though so will take a day at a time to gradually whittle down and flatten boxes and bag up other items for next week. I have so much stuff it is crazy. I may co opt an area out back to house some of the boxes, I can slide the folded ones behind a container the building does not seem to use, should not be a problem I do not think. Got plumbing gear on the way for today and tomorrow, draino, green gobbler sticks that eat up gunk in a drain and the wet dry vac sI could not cancel. Option two for the storage of recyclables, go to the dollar tree and grab some of the bigger plastic storage containers. Would be tall and deep enough to hold stuff together and a bit more attractive than a big cardboard box holding recycle til I can take it out. Need to see.

Laundry will be done today, planning to employ all washers, two in tub and wee washers as needed too. The smaller washers, even the 20 dollar ones work very well. I will plan out which is better to use, may pull out a salad spinner soon. I did clog the drain so rinses will be done in the wee washer. Squeeze water out and spin in a washer not using the drain, it still spins so can wait for now.

Got the robot vac going right now, I am enjoying it now vs not using it. Gives me time to myself, using the sweeping vacuum as well. I got a mini blower to clean out my laptop but use it to bring dust and fur out of hiding as well from places that are unreachable, it blows stuff across the room as well and then I just vacuum up with whatever I want to use. I wish I could train the cats to ride the robot vac, could be fun.

Edit: I did open some chipotle beans and added some cheese and beefless ground. Sprayed with no stick spray and rubbed butter, turned pan up to high on burner, dumped the ingredients, stirred and turned off burner, covered with a lid. Once it was cool, put in a bowl, added some bran for crunch, little ranch dressing, some taco bell chipotle for the binding agents, taco seasoning and bit of sour cream seasoning. Everything together was delicious. Very enjoyable.

Cats are enjoying some cat nip I discovered while pulling out the spinner. got the flakes, spray AND a stick version, think lipstick, they got high and enjoyed it. Will keep these things closer at hand.

Unsure about specific things I want to do, meal first and then figure it out later. In the mean time, hope all have a good day and I am in everyone's pocket who needs me. I am presently watching an old movie on youtube, Hero at Large with John Ritter. Decent so far.

Well dinner is coming fast, I want to make a pizza on a tortilla I think. Mine might be weird though. Will start with garlic spread on the tortilla, add some of the chipotle bean, some beefless ground and a generous helping of cheese on top, toast in the oven til cheese melts on top. The weird that mine could be is taking some KD noodles, not many, heat up noodles and make either a sour cream and onion vibe or whatever and add to the pizza to add some interest. Since tacos are not huge, watching the amount of stuff I use. I will post after eating this.

Decided to use 4 tbsp water and KD noodles, will mix up a bit of cheese and sour cream seasoning into a small amount of actual sour cream. After noodles have cooled, will start assembling the pizza on the tortilla heavy on the garlic, add a chipotle mixed with mayo spread and add the noodles and 4 tbsp of chipotle beans and cheese goes on top as it is the only thing really needed to melt.

@mara51506 Glad you're feeling better today mentally and physically. We all have our moments and we have to allow ourselves those moments some days. Love the dollar store for bins and they have some fairly decent snap lid containers also. Hope you find something that works for you.The pizza tortilla sounds good with a mexican flare to it, enjoy. Anything with melted cheese on it , I'm there!

Was a productive day I power washed our stamped concrete patio in the yard. It's very therapeutic with the hum of the generator. It was so dirty after all the pollen had been laying on it. Now that pollen is done falling should stay fairly clean by just hosing down in the summer. Looks like it may be a stormy evening, quite humid so tornado watch is up til midnight. DH just let with Buster to pick up Italian takeout so a night off here lol. Hope everyone is having a good day.🌸

Cookie, you had a very productive day yourself. I think tomorrow will be busy, getting the wet dry vac and draino but that is fine by me.

The pizza idea was a good one but will do a tweak next time. The layers of flavour were wonderful, the amounts of food were just right for all the extra stuff I put on as well. The tweak will be how do the tortilla, it could not get crispy with all the stuff. Next time, I will cut it up and eat with a knife and fork, very messy when eating by hand. Other option, could just make some garlic toast with the tortilla itself. I was very happy with the flavour. Both meals were quite pleasant. I also learned about something called ice cream bread on youtube. Apparently you take 2 and a 1/2 cups ice cream and same amount of self rising flower, melt up the ice cream til soft, mix and put in a bread pan at 350 for 30 mins. I do not have a bread pan but still have muffin tins that could hold the ingredients. I will table the thought for now.

mkestrel - thanks for sharing those photos of your beautiful flowers🌺. My hubs just planted our geraniums and verbena on Monday. Our weather has been so wacky that he waited a couple weeks after buying them due to chance of frost. Yep, right here in southeastern Wisconsin at the end of May🥶

@mkestrel Beautiful flowers! We just bought ours yesterday and will plant today as we are just now consistently past freezing at night. Yes, I moved from year-round flowers in San Diego to very short planting season in Colorado, but that's okay. Family trumps weather. I can enjoy my morning coffee on the deck this morning…

Mkestral, those flowers are beautiful, I love them.

Well, went to bed late and got up late which is fine. No real schedule honestly and that is fine too. I do need to start breaking down boxes faster and

Had very badly stained wash cloths from a wipe up of some dirt. Since I did not wish to fill the bathtub up again for now, used the wee washer and left everything to soak overnight. It has come in clutch and far less useless than I thought. Going to give another wash and then rinse. Hand wring the stuff and throw in a spinner. Not willing to drain the laundry until my wet dry vac comes, will keep it clear. I did put down some stuff called green gobbler, one stick but already forgot where I actually put them. They are enzyme sticks that are supposed to eat up any clogs, I will find them. First order of business is to get my wet dry vac and test out on the washing machine for taking out the wet stuff.

Not sure what to have today, I am thinking of mixing lentils and beans that may not be my favourites with the chipotle beans, again, those meals were quite delicious and nutritious a lot of fibre. My body can handle it as it is used to a lot of fiber. Will simply toast the tortillas and add to a meal later. May also add tortilla chips on top with melted cheese for some nacho action. Got lots of queso and sour cream. I also have some eggs left so can also make an egg and meat pie, add some garlic spread. As a meal prep, could make up a bit of mexican rice, will follow box instructions. Fill stuff out with white rice and my seasonings. Hungry already but will be nice to have some sides.

My delivery just arrived so will open everything up shortly and test it all out by filling a washer and using the shop vac on it. Got draino too but am nervous to keep putting down the drain. Oh well, no point debating, will comment again if the system works.

I hope all have a very good day, in pockets for all as well.

Holy cow, that shop vac is powerful, I decided a dry vac of the drain could be in order, doing regular wash, will drain afterword and see how it goes. If slow or no drain, got it set up for the wet vac function. Machine itself is fine. Main purchased for the bathtub drain. Still got draino as well. There is a blower function but not finding how to do that so I will use the little blower on full blast which is super strong. Love the blower on lowest level to keep laptops clean. I can also see the vac on dry mode being suitable to clear out litter area for cats effectively. Win/Win. Shop vac works as advertised. I need to possibly empty twice before it fills up, machine itself is light but awkward draining water out of tub.

Also got a treat, buy one get one free on cheeseburgers. I think I am getting four, not sure as I accidentally added one, will see what happens, if I get two, can simply incorporate them into what I am eating now. I did not realize however that the burgers were from Burger King, not Mcdonalds. They did not taste bad and 4 burgers for 10 dollars is pretty good. I ate two and putting two in fridge, will use all ingredients in a different way like grind up the burger and mix with beans for a different for a different format, scrape off the buns and use them for toasted garlic bread, I will see what I want to do. Supper is looking like small amounts of beans and rice, skip the bun or cut in half and toast in the breville, chop the burger up with the toasted garlic bun and put in a pan to heat as I do, high heat and then burner turn off, I will see.

@shanagirl Hey there, good to see ya. Sounds like you have a very full week ahead of you. I understand the temptation to cancel sometimes I just don't feeling like a week full of drs. Hope you have a great experience and the Spine/Brain Institute, we'll be standing by for an update. Plus we'll all be in your pocket for all of next weeks appointments. Yup just got dark here otherwise was beautiful earlier. Hope the storms pass quickly.

@mara51506 Nothing like a powerful vac to get the job done easily, enjoy!

@mkestrel Your flowers are gorgeous, love vibrant colors. The pictures are so nice they look so delicate almost like tissue paper, love the detail. Well to my surprise my sowing seeds this March in ziplock bags was a success! My zinnia , petunia, and marigolds are starting to bloom. Will definitely add some other types to the experiment next year.
