Mara, our creeks are flowing and should only be driven through in a truck but it’s not bad. The worst of it is about 4 hours east of me and I’m up at 7,000 ft. Sad to see the loss of life, water can get crazy so fast.
2 weeks of monsoon season sure did green up the chihuahuan desert.6 -
Mae wow those are nice pictures. Sad to hear the flooding news. I’m glad you’re safe.
Mara I dont know about the ramen thing. I went with my friend and her daughters to a ramen place and the kids liked it bc its basically do it yourself with hot water and then they can choose whatever they want to put in. I didnt eat it. My memories of ramen were of my kids (my son will be 50) always wanting it for a quick snack. It certainly is quite the rage now.
Take care all

@irishlove Congrats on good scan! You crack me up , love your sarcasm with DH being your artifact lol .Yes a bit of a rough night for the dogs last night. I slept on the couch to help Mr Buster relax.
@mara51506 Always nice to see you. When I read your posts and all posts here I feel like I’m talking with my gf’s seeing what’s on their agenda. I enjoy hearing about everything and everyone’s daily lives.
Well our weekend was cut a little short due to my poor mil being hospitalized yesterday with multiple PE’s and DVT’s . She is 87 and not very mobile, has been giving up on life lately. So we are there to support her needs and give her comfort and love. One day at a time.
Hi to all here, hope you’re having a nice weekend.

I was able to go on an overnight trip to silver Creek. Garden flowers and pie cherries. I've been picking them and freezing for many future pies. I hope all have a good weekend. I've been having more nausea than usual and feeling down but walk at the park and putter in the garden.

@illimae I am glad you are safe from the heavy flooding. Very sad indeed for the lives lost.
@mkestrel Those are lovely pictures.
@cookie54 Thank you. I think my insecurity was poking its' ugly head telling me no one would be interested in hearing about laundry chores or recipes.
I woke up late but slept very well, close to 9 hours. Nothing much on the agenda. I did book the Paratransit for Herceptin on Wednesday which is good. We are stinking hot as we should be.
Planning to redo some laundry and the skorts I am using as PJ bottoms and need to wash up my new yoga capris to wear under my new flowy shirts I got recently. My butt looks impossibly huge in the skorts but that does not matter at home. I have also decided to not be silly and use the wee washers instead of the larger ones, not efficient. Better to use as a dish soaker if my sink is full.
Thinking of making a pizza with ramen packet. Would heat up the ramen and put in a sprayed pan, add butter to bottom of the pan along with some garlic. I would spread out the ramen and add cheese, some garlic and sour cream to bind the ramen, thinking of making a full pan. Add some bean spread to the top as well. Heat up at 425 and check every few minutes, possibly serve with some salad. I will see. Last meal of the day will be two eggs and a meat pie. Heat in the microwave, take out and chop in with some cheese, put in pan lined in garlic spread, put on high for around a minute and turn off burner and cover with lid. Just brings in more flavour that way. I will post what I have and if the ramen acting as a pizza crust is good.
Edit, the ramen "pizza" did taste good. Put the precooked ramen in the pan, added some beans pulverized to liquid in a spice grinder. Added shredded cheese and combined all. 425 for 12 minutes. It was not crunchy BUT with the bit of beef seasoning, cheese, garlic spread added before heating and adding beef seasoning from ramen package with bit of salt and sour cream seasoning and white cheddar seasoning as well. All told, it was really good. In future if I want to make pizza, stick with either a shredded cheese baked up or on a tortilla. While this was good, not crispy except the bits of cheese that met the pan.
I hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for anyone who needs me.

@illimae I’m so happy to hear your good. news & glad to hear from you. I’m always in your pocket. Hope you enjoyed 4thofjuly 🧨and have a good rest of the summer😉
@micmel I’m thinking of you and your daughter as she navigates her recovery from the double mastectomy. I’m in youpockets and sending prayers and calming peaceful vibes..💕
Ladies,
I went for the 8 injections on the facets in my cervical spine. My Neursurgeon will do 8 more in two weeks and then schedule me for the Radiofreuency ablation. He wanted me to keep a daily diary on how the epedurals were working. it was so wonderful to be so painfree for the week after. I had the 8 injections at the surgical center under mild anesthesia. He said my pain would come back but If I remained painfree for a number of days it tells him the prcodure was sucessful and means the radiofrecuecy ablation will definitely be a good option for keeping the pain away for at least a year or so. My DH says that he may not even do the next 8 injections and just schedule the RF ablation that would be wonderful.
Hi to everyone here, I have some other things going on right now that are litrally freaking me out. I saw my dentist for pain in my upper back molar. I had already mentioned it to my onc during last month treatment appointment and he took me off Xgeva until he knows what’s going on with my tooth, and recommended I see his dental collegue who is a specialist. I just have been so weary of seeing so many doctors. and procedures, I chose to just go to my normal dentist who knows me and I’m comfortable with. He read the exray and told me it looks like I have a fracture @illimae I’m so happy to hear your good. news & glad to hear from you. I’m always in your pocket. He read the exray and told me it looks like I have a fracture in my upper jaw and didn’t look like an abcess. The fracture is behind a bridge, and he wants me to see theother dentist in the practice who is usually the one who does rootcanal, etractions etc. but he knows I can’t do these procedures because I’m on the Xgeva and would risk jaw necrosis. Now I’m pannicking because why is ther a fracture in my jaw, and could it be necrosis or worse could it be bone mets prgression to my jaw. I have an appt with my Onc. on Teusday after 12, so I know I won’t get the Xgeva again this month either because I have to consult with the Dental specialist to see how to deal with it🙁 in my upper jaw and didn’t look like an abcess. Mara - I don’t think you realize what a sense of normalcy you bring to us with your posts. All your endeavors (cooking, cleaning, shopping, fix-it’s etc.) are what I (and I hope everyone else) count on daily. You are like our own version of the little engine who could! I’m glad your time away was short.
My heart aches for those affected by the floods in Texas. Mother Nature is a bitch.
Shana - I pray that the RFA will work for you. I’ve had them 2x for my lower back but they never worked. It is so frustrating when your test injections do a great job but then the ablation doesn’t work. Struggling with what to do….i get about 3 weeks of relief from steroid injections and my pain management doc will do those 3 times a year. There is a new procedure approved by Medicare that involves locating 2 wires in the offending joint and then having an outside device that sends pulses to the area, retraining the brain on pain pathways. You wear this for 2 months and the results are promising. I’m seriously considering it once the I get done with my recent implant removal. Keep us posted on your experience.
Mel - thinking of you and dear Gabby. Prayers for a good recovery.
Here for pocket duty for those in need.

Shanagirl, I am glad that have no pain currently and that there an option to keep you pain free for at least a year. I am sorry to hear about the jaw problems though, in your pocket sending support for the mildest dx.
Goldens, thank you, never thought about my posts that way but thank you for letting me know that.
I had a decent amount of sleep, many dreams in there but that is good since most dreams are the same with what I tell myself to think about when I go to sleep.
Weather is cooler, we felt into the mid 90s to over 100 but my place is still cool. I am also using the split AC as mostly a fan with a turbo speed cooling for a few minutes. Keeping the house feeling cool which is good. Bedroom AC plus strong turbo fan blows the air in here right away. Bathroom is the warmest place, debating a fan which I could stick net to the fridge or make space on top of the fridge, meaning to clear unneeded stuff.
I was happy with myself as I took out garbage and recycle. I often find that tiring but got most of it out. What I do is put a cane under my arm, grab the bags in my left hand and grip the railing on the right and go down the stairs. For larger boxes that are broken down, I stow them under my arm and carry whatever is going out. Takes two to three trips with a rest break in between of about 30 mins. Seems to work. Once outside I switch hands and drop bags on the ground, put cane in left hand again and pick up the bags. When winter returns, make sure I am well stocked in salt to have a path to Paratransit as well as for garbage take out.
I have a LOT of laundry, realized upon thinking about it that it really is silly to use the wee washers vs the larger ones. Leaves cycles out and I tend to forget about stuff and need a rewash which is inefficient use of time. I also need to realize that it is better to do one thing at a time, complete it and move on to another. Only exception is if there are dishes to do at the same time.
I am at a loss for food, got a few beans left over in the fridge, got some chili style beans that I did not like as much and the chipotle beans. I think that I will put them in with some eggs and blend in the magic bullet first, heat in the microwave for a few minutes then chop with some cheese, do the garlic spread and butter melt, heat the pan, stir ingredients in a couple of times and turn off the burner, cover with a lid. Other seasonings could be chipotle, sour cream as well, still using up baha and other sauces. Later, will make some mexican rice to have as a side. Another thought that may be weird but tweaks my curiousity is chopping up a meat pie with cheese and other stuff. Not sure if I will try that today but could happen in the future. Just using the mini pot pies for this purpose. Will post meals later.
Edit My first meal is two eggs scrambled in a bowl, added some garlic powder, beef seasoning that was left over from a ramen, added white cheddar seasoning, put in some queso and sour cream and lime, cooked up for 4 mins with a lid on. Let cool and just added some more of the sour cream. It was very good, no chopping needed, just cut up the eggs.
I hope everyone has a good rest of the day and in pockets for all who need me.

@shanagirl Happy to see you and that you got some much needed relief from spine pain. Ugh sorry that your dealing with jaw issue now, always something! Fingers crossed and prayers up that it's something that can be easily rectified . Hugs.
@mara51506 Glad your apartment is nice and cool being a sweaty mess while doing housework is certainly not pleasant. Hope you're having a productive day cooking and getting wash done. I'm currently making meatballs which I like to have in the freezer when it's pasta night here. Becomes such an easy meal when short on time or don't feel like cooking.
@mkestrel Absolutely beautiful pictures you're surrounded by beauty!
In everyone's pockets this week for appointments and everyday struggles.

Well, decided to watch green mile since AMC was being offered for 99 cents for two months, that is such an amazing movie. I read the book back when it came out in parts back in the day and it was amazing but the movie is more so. Michael Clarke Duncan deserved the Oscar he received and had me in tears near the end of the movie. I loved it. If you have not seen it, it is really good but a tearjerker too.

Hi lovely ladies. The photos of the flowers and nature are so stunning @mkestrel . When one is stuck at home, it's great to live vicariously thru others. Thank you for bringing the beauty to all of us here. @mara51506 It's good to hear I'm not the only one that struggles with doing more than one thing at a time. But whatever I may be doing, I have to stop and put the peanuts out for the crows and bluejays. The crows yell loudly at my front door if I forget. About a year ago I developed severe food poisoning symptoms after eating at a restaurant. I believe it was from the sour cream that maybe had not been refrigerated properly. In the heat, I now just stay away from ordering it. I love it so and it makes dishes tastier. @shanagirl Oh my goodness I can't believe you are dealing with jaw issues. Hopefully they caught it early. No experience with it, but I know that connection and so I stick with every 3 months Xgeva shots. I already have odd bone growth in my mouth since I was a kid.
Turning the tv on for entertainment is just about not existing anymore. It is so sad with the horrible situation in Texas and the wars going on, it hurts my brain. I'm trying to do more crafts when the fingers will obey me. lol. Otherwise it's eat, snack repeat.
In pockets for all that may need to know, you have a friend. Hello to all I may have missed. Hope you are well as can be and finding joy along the way.
Laurel

@mara51506 - I'm glad you decided against taking a break. You are a constant in this thread.
@micmel - your daughter is blessed to have you to help her through this. I hope you C can make it back to us soon.
@mkestrel ‐ I love your photos, as usual. The bowl of tomatoes at the end was just fun.
I keep up with reading, and I feel like you are all part of my extended family, even if I don’t have much to say. I need to make more of an effort to contribute.
I spent the last two weeks getting our house and yard ready for company, and dh worked even harder on the yard and finishing the game/guest room in the shop. All the kids and grandkids were here for the 4th, and everyone had a great time, so it was worth it. I got some extra special time with my 7 week old grandson. There's nothing like snuggling a little baby. I thought I'd have a ton of leftovers, but it's surprising manageable...except for the fruit. My dh doesn't eat it, and as much as I love it, I have to be careful how much I eat or it exacerbates the Verzenio side effect. I think I can freeze the grapes and some cubed watermelon, and then just focus on the cherries. We'll see.

Hi all. I read along every day to see how everyone is doing. I may "Like" some of your posts, but I don't comment much. Sorry.
I have my scans next week. Getting nervous. I know at some time I will have progression. Will this be the time?!
Not doing much here. Go to church services, the usual errands around town, etc, but not really much else going on in my life. I miss my old life so much- work, feeling good, being healthy. Things are so different now. I feel older than my 54 years. My Pastor told us that he is taking on a part-time job (outside the church). He will now have 2 jobs + his family life. He is 57 years old. Boy, how I miss that energy. I have to nap every day- maybe just 30-45 minutes, but nap anyway. And my arthritis- hands, feet, shoulders, hip, and back- prevents me from doing so much anymore. I think the lack of estrogen from the cancer meds (Lupron and the AI I was on with the Ibrance) has really sped up arthritis in me. I may have been the type to have arthritis as I got older and went thru natural menopause, but the cancer meds caused it to come on earlier. I have been told I need a hip replacement, but I have not done that. The cancer may be stable, but I would have a tough time working with the arthritis now. I have to really concentrate on not getting too depressed.
Wish Mel's Living Room was a real place. I would love to go there right now and sit and visit with you all.
3 -
@candy-678 It is nice for you to check in. I don't post much either but read everyday. I will be praying for your scans next week. The scanxiety is real and we all could use some more peace. Many US pastors of small congregations have to pick up extra work now days as church attendance and giving diminishes. It is sad. Our son is a Pastor and so far his wife's pay as a nurse covers the rest if their living costs. We pray that continues. His second "job" is taking care of the three kids while she is at work. My arthritis has reared its ugly head too but I think it might also be a result of adding a statin to my medicinal arsenal. The Orserdu has a se of increasing cholesterol so the statin is a preventative. I see my PCP later today so I will discuss this with her.
It will be hot here in Colorado again today with no rain forcast. Other than a dr trip, I will stay in.
Keep safe everyone.

I did not sleep at all last night but I do not mind, I should be able to go to bed earlier. Was just up doing stuff til the day ran out. I have new shirts coming today which will either be washed in mesh bags for the protection OR in my small washers as they are more gentle. I also saw a quesadilla maker on sale for cheap on amazon for 11 bucks. I know it is a refurb but could not resist, would be an easy way to make the quesadillas. It won't come til Wed, hid that in the cat food and litter purchase as I use a shopping plan for those. Cat food and litter is just so expensive, not even sure why. Not a new thing either, both can be unreasonable and it has been that way for years, not just recent times.
Started on Laundry, did a quick sweep and cleanup of the cat area. Pulling out my sweeper vacuum and deciding where to keep it in the living room as it will get more use out here in the living room, same with my regular broom. My robot vac is used but fairly useless as it always gets stuck some where but I do not mind letting it do its thing
My first meal was simple, just a frozen stirfry from Walmart, heated as normal for the package, added some butter to a frypan and added the cooked stirfy, added cooking spray, melted butter and garlic salt and stirred around for a minute. The stir fry has peppers and broccoli in it so thought that was fine, also added some bean juice I made up in the magic bullet. Used rest of my beans, put in the magic bullet with a bit of water and blended a bean juice to stir into everything in the pan and allow for some extra fiber. I had heated the stirfry in the fridge. When it was finished cooling in the frypan, put into a bowl and added some taco strips I had purchased before. It was very good. Later will have a couple of eggs, add all my seasonings and microwave them, seem to like doing that and suck at making eggs with cooked whites and runny yolks. Adding all the ingredients together is good. I may also try the magic bullet, put eggs and cornbread mix together, add the seasonings or dressing in before the microwave, I will have to see. The bit of cornbread mix causes a different layer in the eggs themselves. I am also looking forward to my quesadilla maker coming, mostly because it slices them itself and can make pull apart stuff.
I got my prescription, did some bills and waiting on the Amazon stuff, most of it coming today. Also setting my budget as well, I have a credit on Walmart for streaming I did not sign up for, nets me 30 bucks and the rewards from my Walmart card is allowing for a free delivery later on. No room right now in the fridge so will wait until I use some of the stuff up.
I do hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for anyone who needs me.

@mara51506 - I forgot to say that my son was talking about a "hip fan" that he uses and I immediately thought of you. It's a small fan that hooks on the waistband and you can drape your shirt over it so it moves air under your shirt. I thought it sounded amazing. There are some on Amazon that seem pretty reasonably priced. I'm including a link for this one, only because of the pictures/video of multiple ways it can be used, not as a specific product recommendation.

@shanagirl , Thank you for remembering me. Like @candy-678 , I read often but I find it difficult to respond to so many.
@mara51506 relaying your daily routines reminds me of my new normal life. Cancer is just a part of it.
Keeping dépression at bay isn't always easy. My best tip is to live in the moment. Try to teach that to my autistic/adhd/depressed daughter that dealt with abusive man for 17 yrs.
Always washing everyone an easy time of it.

So glad to hear that you have some pain relief. Think of you and everyone here often, but many days don't have the energy to post. I have always had high sensitivity to hot weather and I think Kisqali makes it more severe. Hibernating most days with shades drawn and lots of ice water and ice pops.
Hugs and healing thoughts,
Eleanora

Just bought my tickets for the 50th anniversary showing of Jaws in the theater on August 29th, yay! We did Jaws on the water at lake Travis in 2019 but this will be my first time in a theater, I am super excited.
The weather is ideal, my bar is open and it’s looking like a great summer so far. Thinking of everyone 😊3 -
Hi all you lovely gals. @shanagirl I am saying lots of prayers for you and hope that the images of your jaw were read incorrectly. As an example I have had RO's repeatedly say I have a compression fracture of the L4. First trip to surgeons' office and his PA wanted to know who told me that? Well, I said, about 4 images thru the last 2 years reported that info and the pain is ridiculously high. Not much relieves it. So he's sending me for an MRI of thoracic and lumbar on Sunday July 13. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this. SO shana I hope it was just an image error and maybe just a minor infection throwing things off.
@illimae IOh I'm so jealous of your upcoming Jaws show. Enjoy it and good to hear the cabin is a rocking.
I wanted to scroll back to get the poster name with scan coming up and my computer is wiping out everything I type. It's time for a new one as this is on the fritz. I just wanted to say I was positive my report would be poor and it wasn't. MS is making a lot of noise and with your arthritis acting up, it's difficult to sort out what's what. In your pocket for a good scan. @mara51506 I really enjoy your postings and accomplishments. You are so focused on your job at hand, and I'm envious. About the only meal I try different things with is soup. Otherwise I'm my Grammy Sparr's granddaughter, inherited her cooking meat and potatoes and veggies.
A very large hawk landed on my birdfeeder today. I was able to take one picture and then chased her. She was eyeballing up my sweet little wrens and daddy cardinal. The squirrels beat feet to safety. I know she has a nest nearby as I've seen her before and just yesterday a smaller bird was chasing her and screaming up a warning to other critters. I know she has to eat, but can't it just be bird seed. lol
In pockets for all that come here seeking friendship and comfort.

Mae, enjoy the Jaws show. I enjoy the movie now but as a kid, when the family wanted to watch it, they could not as I covered my eyes and cried turn it off over and over. I was closer to being a teen before I could watch it. Great movie.
Slept pretty well, managed to go to bed at a more respectable hour. Have Herceptin today. I am also apparently to receive my quesadilla pan which will be pretty cool. I still have soft tortillas and looking forward to all the things I can put in it and like the pan divvying it up in slices for me. I have some laundry drying again in the dryer, I stuffed too full yesterday and they did not come out completely dry, cloths are fine a bit damp, got some towels in there. I like having my regular broom and the sweeper vac nearby as well. The sweeper vac certainly has an unpleasant noise but works pretty well. Encourages me to keep the floor cleaner, dusting is my next thing to improve but not this morning.
As far as meals, will just make a couple eggs and a meat pie, add whatever seasoning that floats my boat. Hopefully I will have my quesadilla pan when I get home to try it out. Will post what is put in later. I was not sure about being able to do quesadillas in a normal pan as well so for 11 bucks, I did not resist the buy on Amazon.
Other than that, I hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for all.

Maybe people should learn to tiptoe around us?

Seeq, that does sound amazing for sure, my neck fans work well too, last a long time as well, better than the old neck fans that you had to fuss with. I admit that I do not go out too much when it is hot but the hip fan is something. I have taken a look at them, between a fan and neck fan and cooling headband, I would be cool as a cucumber. I may set aside money for one of these as I can use as a desk fan too.

Well, the Paratransit was fine to and from the cancer clinic, appointment fine as well and they put the usual round bandaid. I visited the restroom and a nurse noticed I bled all over my chest and shirt, just changed the stuff, gross. I will eat first and then set about to removing the blood. Good thing I did not take any advil or other type of blood thinner. My quesadilla maker just arrived so will make a quesa dilla first to make sure it works. Garlic spread on the inside and a healthy amount of cheese, that will be good to start with. use a couple of tortillas.
Edit the quesadilla was basic but good, put some cooking spray top and bottom, added generous garlic spread and lots of cheese. Took about 4 mins. I will figure out other stuff to put in them. I ate the whole thing. I have also thought of using one tortilla folded in half if I just want a little bit. Later may take a frozen chicken dog, chop up and pulverize some beans to spread out on a tortilla. Can fold it in half if I don't want to use up 2 of them. I could also put eggs in the middle, probably microwave and chop up and go from there.
Once I am done will go ahead with the cold water and stain remover. I have a couple of good stain removers, oxi max force and tide rescue also with oxi. Spray stains, let it work in, then soak in a sink of cold water and wash in cold water.
Edit 2 I did spray the heck out of the shirt and bra with the stain sprays and let them sit for a couple of hours, then I took a wee washer, added cold water, detergent and more stain spray and am going to leave them overnight. Might be overkill but I will check in the morning, if stain is gone, will wash them in the same wee washer tomorrow. I will check if this removed the blood.

@mara51506 Glad your appt went well, sheesh guess you could have used some gauze instead of small bandaid today. I have had that happen too, can be quite the mess. Oh the fun your will have with the quesadilla maker! Love a good basic chicken and cheddar quesadilla and sour cream for dipping. Enjoy. Also I love the movie The Green Mile.if I see it while scrolling I always stop to watch, great movie!
@irishlove Oh those hawks look so intimidating, glad you were able to chase it away. I hate when I see them disturb nests and steal eggs and all the birds are crying and screaming, awful. We;ll all be in your pocket for your upcoming MR.
@candy-678 I hear ya on missing your old life. I often wonder what how my 50's would have been if I wasn't dealing with this crap. Prayers up and we'll be in your pocket for next week scan.s Sending hugs and strength.
Mae Excited for ya, sounds like it will be loads of fun! Have a drink for us in your bar, cheers to it being finished.
Hi to all you lovelies that checked in, always great to see everyone. Hugs to all❤️

Sun in my garden.. we had a wind storm here and I'm glad it didn't blow over.

Cookie, I intend to have fun with different things for the quesadilla maker that is for sure.
I did get bloodstains out of the bra and shirt which was good, got it spinning in the wee washer on the rinse cycle.
Nothing exciting on the meal front yet, just having some frozen pasta, nothing fancy and thinking of putting in a Walmart order as well once the freezer is emptied out. Later meal could be fried cheese with peppers and bean spread on top. Would add cooking spray and melted butter to the top. I am not sure as of yet. Looking up stuff to put in the quesadilla maker as well. Thinking rice and ground chicken dog and of course cheese but I will see. Another option is cooking up one egg, still have the rice added to the egg with some peppers, microwave and chop up when cooled along with some cheese. Add that to the tortilla, spread with garlic spread, also got some diced tomatoes so could sprinkle on top of the egg, cheese, peppers. Dip into a sour cream and queso dip afterword. I will post after deciding. I do also want to try a folded tortilla as well.
I am tired from Herceptin, turned down going out with DB tonight, he asked if I was ill which was nice of him but told him it was Herceptin related. Maybe get together next week, who knows.
I hope today has gone well for everyone, in pockets for all who need me.
