Anyone in the New York area I used to see Dr. Massimo Cristofanilli at Northwestern in Chicago. He transferred to his new hospital, Weill Cornell, to support his wife, also a Dr. who was offered a great opportunity. Needless to say, if you have anyone that needs a great Oncologist, he is amazing. A leading researcher for breast cancer. Has published many articles and fights for breast cancer research. I do miss him, but he referred me to my new oncologist who I really like.

Hallo, MBC friends,
I'm gradually recovering from the terrible infection of the last 2 weeks. It's been a rollercoaster. From my throat, it finally landed in my chest, complete with fever, running nose (ive never discovered where these noses run to, but tgey ultimately do stop π), nonstop coughing, and general malaise. Being asthmatic, I've had to roll in a course of steroids (prednisolone), in addition to the ciprofloxacin and augmentin. Standard treatment for me.
Im used to this regime since way back 30 years ago, even before the Metastasic Breast Cancer crept into my life. So, mentally and emotionally, it's not a big deal. I just have to be very careful about my appetite because steriods turn me into a dangerous eating machine. Believe it or not, i can end up with an extra 5 kg in just a week. So, im trying my best to stay on the right road by drinking lots and lots of water because it helps. Of course, thus also means water retention. LOL!! You cant win with this weight challenge.
Meanwhile, I'm completely knocked out physically and in bed for these last 2 weeks, and it will take another 2 weeks to one month for me to regain my strength. I've also had to suspend the start of my cancer medication for an extra week because prednisolone and ibrance do not like each other, and taking them concurrently can cause counter reactions of monumental levels.
Also, the effects of this treatment simply mean I have to tone down my physical activities. I still take my walks but very slowly. Which is OK by me. After all, where am I rushing to??
I do hope I have the energy to join in tge Zoom meet-up on Monday.
Life is what you make of it.
Smile, and the world smiles at you.
Cry and you cry alone.
This is my tried and tested life lesson.
What do you think π€ π πBlessed weekend to all.

@Rosebessie - So very sorry to hear about this infection, but glad it seems to be improving. It sounds similar to Covid actually. I love your comment about not knowing where noses run to - made me laugh! Thinking of you and wishing you a speedier recovery! You have a wonderful week-end also.
1 -
@Rosebessie yuk on the illness! Sounds like you know what to do to get better. Hope youβre back feeling better soon!
1 -

@threetree, @AJ, @rlschaller, thanks. Its been really rough. I suspect s lot is happening in my lungs, but ill be sure with the PET-SCAN at the end of thus month. And now I appreciate that statement on medication notes, "for patients above the age of 65 years old........" Our bodies suddenly take a dip at that age. Im that frail grandma i used to read about in little red riding hood π΅ π΅. Im still in bed but I hope to attend the Monday Zoom meeting. Love and hugs to you all
