Welcome home, Ruth! Has Bruno stopped wagging his tail yet?

TT scary times on the highway. I am amazed by the risks people take at high speed and their bonehead moves. Mechanical issues happen. The semi will always win.

One-hour group fitness class this morning.

    Just a quick check in.

Ruth, love all the pictures. I bet you're tired from your trip with all the neat things you did and saw.

TT: Have a good break this week!

Karen: Sounds like your DD has everything under control for her wedding. Have a fabulous time with your DD and granddaughter.

Badger: You are really committed to increasing your exercise. It's a good feeling I'm sure.

I've been busy getting ready to go to Hilton Head this Saturday with my sisters and sil. Trying to get all the things done that need to be done before leaving. Also, DS and my granddaughter are visiting Friday so I need to get everything done soon! I've painted my October pumpkins this week. Only painted 4.

This one is for my granddaughter who turns 1 this month! I blacked out her name. This is the front and back.

    IMG_8495.jpg IMG_8496.jpg

DD and sil are expecting their first child on January 1. My dear grandson! I'm not very pleased with this one. I was having a long, serious phone conversation with someone (I mainly listened) while painting it. The hearts are bigger than I meant them to be but I hope DD will love it anyway. I painted tree roots to show a strong tree but they aren't visible in the picture.

    IMG_8517.jpg

My friend who loves owls turns 70 this month so I painted this one for her. Seven candles are on the back.

    IMG_8506.jpg IMG_8500.jpg

This is for my friend and her partner who love cats.

    IMG_8504.jpg

Glad I don't have to paint these!

Those pumpkins are gorgeous, Wonderland. I especially like the cats! Have fun with your sisters trip!

Yes, Bruno is very happy we are home and he can take walks again! Our sitter weighs about as much as him, so they don't do walks, just play in the yard. The whole week is crazy because we are pet-sitting for DS & SIL who are on a little anniversary vacation. Since they have 4 dogs and 4 cats, they don't come here…..we go to them. Lots of running back & forth between houses! They get back Saturday evening & then I hope to resume my 'real life'!

Wonder- pumpkins are beautiful. You are so talented

Ruth- DS and DIL have quite the manager!

Monday I went for labs for hematology visit on the 13th. They drew labs for med onc appointment next month. I emailed them yesterday and they said they could use the blood from Monday for hematology appt . Still waiting on results. CMP stays relatively stable with the same ones elevated! My Ca27-29 was slightly elevated but still within normal limits. First time this has happened. I’m sure if I asked I’ll get told it’s nothing and made to feel foolish for asking. Appointment is with NP- not thrilled as first time in 19 years won’t see oncologist but the letter I received last month (dated May) indicated he would only see patients every other visit.
Really curious what else I can do for bones density as I had 8.8% decline in the spine and I can’t increase my calcium as my calcium levels are elevated. I take vitamin D, walk and walk and walk! Plus I’m on Zometa.
Wonder have fun with the girls this weekend.

Karen, if you don't feel satisfied with the NP's answers, could you demand (nicely) to see your oncologist? (Although sometimes NP's take more time with you than doctors, so maybe it will be okay.)

DH, Bruno and I took a lovely trail walk this morning & now I am hanging out with DS's dogs in their yard (there are too many of them for us to walk!). DS & DIL should be home tomorrow evening (I said 'should' because they're flying, which is rather dicey right now.).

Love the punkins Wonderland! Everyone appreciates a thoughtful homemade gift. Plus, they will last longer than the carved ones. My DH is quite the Halloween pumpkin carving artist but gets upset when the neighborhood squirrels come take bites out of them. I find it amusing. The proportional size difference is like you next to those giants.

Karen, sounds like you’re doing everything right for bone density: meds & weight-bearing exercise.

Walked my 30-minute route yesterday and had 7AM fitness class today. The other ladies all skipped so it was just me getting an individual coaching session. Really liking getting back into the gym. 💪

I took a nice walk yesterday. DS & DIL arrived home from their vacation at 5:00, so I could relinquish my petsitting duties. I put a 5 hour pot roast in the oven & have been sitting around doing nothing (actually making picture collages from our trip) & will probably go on a dog walk. Tomorrow I will get back to my regular schedule.

*edited to say that we did take a trail walk which wasn't that fun because it was so windy I was afraid that a tree would fall on me! And I went to Yoga, which was wonderful!

    Quick stop in.

Arrived in Hilton Head yesterday. Had a nice beach walk this morning with a little chill in the air. Light drizzle followed so having a nice, slow day. My sisters cooked a delicious meal and now I'm sitting on the couch becoming a potato. Tomorrow and the rest of the week will be beautiful and warmer. On Tuesday we are taking a ferry to Savannah for the day which will be fun.

Had my annual Medicare appt today. Exercise is paying off. Weight is down and so is BP. Skipped group fitness class this morning because of needing to fast for bloodwork so will go in tomorrow.

    Good job, badger!

I went to Zumba this morning, on a dog walk, started cleaning up the yard & house (not at the same time) and back to Dance2fit tonight. So I have gotten lots of steps today!

I went to a weight lifting class this morning, took a little dog walk (which was not that fun because a cold rain was coming down), and will go to a Yoga Wind Down class in a few minutes.

It was cool & misty, so some of the Wednesday Walking Women walked outside and some took the inside option. Here's the whole crew at our friend's house for breakfast.

    Badger: Congratulations on your appointment!

Karen: I would feel the same as you about seeing the NP and not the onc, especially after 19 years.

Ruth: wish I could you send you the perfect weather I’m having here.

Having a great time in Hilton Head. Yesterday we took a ferry ride to Savannah for the day. You can’t go there without going by the home of founder of Girl Scouts. We didn’t go in but I have been there before. Went to the Newhall Audubon Preserve today. Lots of walking on the beach, Savannah, and preserve.

Ruth, what a great way to get exercise, socializing, and food!

Group fitness class Tues & Weds. The basic gym membership is paid through my health insurance but I paid extra for the “quick start” coach-led classes. They have them every day, and the more I go, the lower the per-class cost. Decided to start going every morning.

Nice pics all, love the pumpkins and the warm of Savannah!

With fall break last week and then the rush at work, just got to the gym one day last week and one day this week, ugh.

I'm already feeling the shorter days…and not liking it! but not much I can do about it. Stay safe everyone, TT

    Love the pictures, wonderland.

The days are quickly getting shorter here too, TT. Sigh…….

Very foggy here, but mild. We went for a Dog Walk this afternoon & I will go to Dance2fit & Yoga tonight.

Love the cooler weather but not the shorter days. At least we are getting some fall color.

Wonderland, what a fun trip! I am going to have to figure out a way to support the local GS without actually buying cookies.

Group fitness class this morning. Feeling the ab work but it’s a good sore.

Did a No Kings March this morning and a Big Dog walk this afternoon.

    badger Posts: 25,021

Walked to the Farmers Market Sat morning. There was a No Kings protest group forming along Main Street. Maybe 30 people? Mostly older, all peaceful.

Made potato salad and apple pie to bring to Sunday visit to MIL’s today. Having a cookout with the family - brats & burgers. I’m bringing lettuce, tomato & cucumber to have a healthy side dish option.

Nice family time today. Good food and great company. Lazy day though. Came home and napped when I should have walked. Oh well, we all need a day off once in a while. Group fitness class tomorrow morning.

Zumba this morning, a cold, rainy dog walk, an expensive eye doctor appointment this afternoon (I need new glasses AND prescription sunglasses…….ouch!).

  • badger
    badger Posts: 25,021

Ouch is right! My last pair of glasses was $400. Eye exam covered by ins but not eyewear. I need a new pair, too, but eye doc said don’t bother until after cataract surgery.

Group fitness class this morning. Regular coach is on vacay and the sub was tough. We worked on strength and my arms were noodles for an hour afterwards. Weak! I am weak. It WILL get better. I WILL get stronger. 💪

Hi All! Came back from Hilton Head on Saturday. Had a great time with my sisters (twins, age 75) and sister-in-law (age 74). All 3 are very active. They rented bikes for the week as HH is very bike-friendly and has nice bike trails. I decided I didn't want to rent one so I mainly walked on the beach. Our room was on the 5th floor. They took the stairs both ways just about every time they left the room! I'm the youngest of us and I took the elevator every single time - mainly bc stairs aren't good on my knees. It's so nice to be around my fit family. Keeps me motivated!

My ds and his partner are having a yard sale soon and I have been collecting and pricing items we have to add to their sale. Usually I have free yard sales by the road with stuff I want to get rid of. This time is different bc I'm collecting things that are too nice to be given away. Happy to be able to add my things and get them out of the house. I like the "Use it or lose it" rule. It makes the decision to add to the boxes easier. Also, since we just had new floors installed and I had to empty cabinets, etc in 2 rooms, I had already started making my collection by not putting them back in the rooms. It's so easy to accumulate stuff.

I've been sitting way too much since Saturday car ride returning from HH and also going through and pricing items. My sisters added lots of things to go to the sale so I'm organizing and pricing them also. Got to get moving again. Luckily tonight I walked with my DD. Tomorrow I have a zoom pilates meeting with ds's partner who is an excellent pilates instructor. Looking forward to it.

What cool sisters you have, Wonderland! Good luck with getting ready for the rummage sale. That is lots of wook! And how lucky to have a pilates teacher in the family!

I went to a weight lifting class this morning and may go back for Core or Yoga. It's cloudy, cold and windy; makes it hard to want to go back out.

Good luck with the yard sale, Wonderland. It is a lot of work. Glad you had fun with family in HH. I’ve been there and it’s a great vacation spot. Do you find zoom classes motivating?

It’s rainy, windy & cold here, too, Ruth. Blah. Good weather for pot roast dinner.

Got out this morning for 7am group fitness class. Not looking forward to losing an hour when DST ends in a few weeks. I already get up before the break of dawn to have a cup of coffee and a pre-workout bite to eat. I’ll take a later class in the spring when I retire for good.

Got to the gym Sunday, Monday and Wednesday so far this week…finally after a couple of weeks of just one day — which doesn't work for me.

    What a beautiful pie!

Good luck with the yard sale…so much easier to discard rather than price, but good effort for your son.

I needed a new part of eyeglasses, which I rarely use since I wear contacts everyday, but need as a back-up. Tried Warby Parker and got a non-bifocal pair (back up for driving) for just $95. My last pair of glasses was 500+ at least 5 years ago and was my first pair of progressives…which I guess is great if you wear them a lot and get used to them, but for a once a year back up, it never really worked. I do like having a back up in case I need to ditch the contacts and still need to drive home and see the road…always a good idea!😃

It's always good when you can see the road! 😁

It was 27 degrees here at 8:00. 5 of our Wednesday Walkers went inside, while 6 of us bundled up and walked to a Haunted Cemetery (every year family with a huge yard make it into a scary cemetary & has bins where visitors can drop off canned goods for the local food pantry).

LOL TT yes always a good idea. 😁

Ruth, how cold does it have to be for the WWW not to walk outdoors? I turned on the heat last night. Need to do final front yard cleanup this weekend. Frost will kill the zinnias but I’ll harvest seed heads for next year.

    Group fitness class this morning.
