Well going through a cupboard to organize supplies, found three different seasonings not seen for a while. One was club house maple steak seasoning, dehydrated garlic and everything bagel. Thinking I would prefer these as proper spices so will run all though my coffee grinder which can function as a spice grinder. Can just grind them up and just put them in my used tostitos queso jars, I like those as they are glass. I used the money made from budget boosting games to pay 1.2 of an order of painters tape, decided it makes sense to label and less expensive for a bigger roll of tape, don't need permanent labels, just long enough to store things in. I want to take the spices and grind up tomorrow.

    Hi everyone!!

@cookie54 yes I did get my appointments for treatment, PT and I saw my neurologist at the NJ Brain Spine Center in Montvale yesterday. All is well. I’ve been off this thread since a week 1/2. So I haven’t read thru anything yet. But just checking. In to say hi and keep up with you all. I’ve been especially worried about our @mara51506 and hoping she’s still doing well. ……I have to run now because I have a PT appointment to get to.🥰

@irishlove I am glad that Pigeon is feeling better and talking back to the barking dog. Can also understand the work it takes to look after animals, though I have cats, they create a lot of work for me as well.

I have laundry started, will do the rinse/softener cycle and toss in my bedroom dryer. I am utterly amazed how little detergent is actually required. Really thought more was better when I first started but it is about a drop from the Tide and I add literally one spray of tide spray and one spray of oxiclean maxforce spray. Still creates a sudsy wash for them.

Been unsatisfied with food as of late. Yesterday was OK mealwise but did not enjoy the microwaved egg as much. I think I would be better to use the wee pan for frying up an egg OR the mini griddle to get that done, make my own egg mcmuffin type vibe, I will see. When it comes to other veggies in a can, I can use the spice grinder to pulverize stuff and keep it all more normal for me. Just like a kid whose parent is hiding the veggies. Regarding the other spices I found, I need to pulverize them into a powder and since they are very strong tastes, stick to 1/8th of a tsp of each and still get a good flavour out of them. I also like the idea of hiding them. I am also thinking of whipping up some scrambled eggs with mayo to make more silky. Just add the eggs and mayo for flavour, I am thinking that kind of egg and basic english muffin would be good.

EDIT I did take two eggs, 1/4 cup of peas and bit of sour cream and garlic mayo. Whipped up in the magic bullet. Really could not detect the peas in there which was good. After everything whipped, added butter to a sprayed frypan and dumped the eggs and pea mix, stirred most of the time, did not take long to heat up. The texture was a bit weird, sort of a more liquid cottage cheese post heating, but in the end it all was very good. Realizing I can add lentils to a yogurt smoothie, add some mio and a little water and have extra fibre and nutrition is great. I did not wind up with english muffin, could tell the eggs and peas along with the bit of sour cream and garlic mayo was filling. I figure that whipped eggs could have anything added to them. New meal unlocked. I am imagining hotdogs done first in the air fryer then add to eggs with peppers and such, chopped together in the magic bullet and keeping the whipped style.

I do hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone, own pocket as well to finish out laundry and the cat area cleanup as well.

Slept OK, it is sunny and warm after thunderstorms last night came through. Already changed to lighter PJs as well. My legs feel strange today, like I am off balance, going to take it easy on the step stuff I was doing, Last night when getting into bed my butt slid forward so was going to slide off the bed to the floor. I was lucky enough to work my way back up and into the bed. Going forward, going to use my wee stool, has grooves in it and use that for some leverage. I am not sure what the issues are but oh well. If I need a cane that is fine. For now, I will take it easy on step bench exercise. I like to use both legs to keep them both strengthened and able to tackle stairs. I could also get the folding chair and exercise from there.

Not too sure what is happening today other than regular chores, I keep getting forgetful about laundry, thinking I will have to organize my chores into one thing at a time. I get a lot done and then forget about other ones which defeats the purpose. I also think if cleaning cloths that are not super dirty, a shorter cycle is in order. I have stuff sitting in the smaller washer which is currently acting as a hamper for dirty items.

Going to keep food easy for me today, no more waffling. I did enjoy the eggs that were whipped and cooked in the fry pan. I can either have that again, can also do a meat pie with an egg. I am not sure, got a ton of canned food to get through. Will post if I come up with something amazing.

We have the silly daylight savings time overnight moving our clocks forward. One of our provinces, BC will not be doing it again. Personally, I think Canada should drop the whole thing as modern farmers no longer need this sort of thing. Oh well, we will see if Ontario follows suit, Saskatchewan has not moved their clocks since the 60's.

I hope all have a good day and in pockets for all.

Decided to allow myself a treat and got an egg mcmuffin meal and a buy one get one free sausage mcmuffin. It really is stupid expensive but I love the taste. Fortune favours the brave, found 25.00 in paypal so I can put it back on the card I used right away.

I will refrigerate the sausage mc muffins and use those in meals. In the mean time there I go.

It was so yummy, love their hash browns mostly and of course the sandwich.

Can you please tell exactly how you make your crispy lentils? D you just fry them in a pan or do they have to be softened first then fried?

@shanagirl I do mine in my air fryer and I buy canned lentils. Rinse them first in a strainer once out of the can, put in airtight container. I like to make about a 1/2 cup at a time. I spray my airfryer with non stick spray but you do not need much spray. I heat my air fryer as high as it will go, 202C or I believe 392F. I also add garlic or another dry seasoning, whatever I want, dump the lentils. Keep the lentils mostly in a single layer. I do let them go for 15 mins but is advisable to check every few minutes to make sure they do not burn. I also use a spoon to stir them. I find that the easiest way to prevent charred lentils. Once they are done to your satisfaction, just dump them in a dish. If you want some crunch in a salad or other meal, you may go longer, just keep checking and stirring. I do the same with beans.

The amount of time you spend really depends on the crunch factor but I do not find them good if I char them too much. Only exception to that rule are hotdogs or chicken dogs, I love to really get the skin charred as much as possible. I've done them both chopped up first more like ground beef and airfry until a little bit charred of just torn a hotdog into pieces and done them up.

I am not sure about pan frying or oven frying. Doing them in the stove, I would still do on a high temp and I would put some sort of sprayed pan, drizzle the lentils with oil. Still think they need to be checked on as well. I am thinking 425 to start, set timer for 15 mins. In the stove, you not likely flipping them so keep checking them every few minutes and for the last few minutes, turn on the broiler so they crisp up top. I have the breville that I use so it is pretty easy.

If I was going to pan fry them, get pan, spray pan, add seasoning and do them on high. I would use a lid to keep heat higher and still stir them in the pan. That is how I would do it.

Simplest way to make them is in the air fryer which if you do not require a big one is inexpensive. Mine is a 2qt size. You can put whatever you want in it.

I have not started actual laundry other than a couple of hankies, I am doing them in a small salad spinner with basket taken out, once done the cycles, spin them in the basket to get dry and wipe down machine with vinegar. I keep the spinner in the linen closet. Unsure if SIL thought it was a mini washer, but it can function that way.

Once spun, just dry them on hanging dryer, clip to the rack and dry it. They are small and feel like they get lost in the shuffle but can do them in a mesh bag, sometimes, I split up the mesh bag into sections using elastics if doing pants and smaller items but if I like this way better for small things, will use the salad spinner. They are in the hanging dryer now, set for a couple of hours. They are no soft but are dry, if I want dry, need to tumble but that is not my first concern.

I am making some quinoa. The are pre soaked so just put 2 pts water and one part quinoa on to boil. Added some seasoning to the water, some taco seasoning as well. My general plan is to take the quinoa, do it on my oven first then do up a beef and tomato pasta. Once the Pasta comes out of the microwave, bring over and open to add the quinoa, will figure out a binder for it. Probably some sort of queso and sour cream, I will see. It will likely be a small amount of queso and ranch. Should be tasty and a good binder. I will post how it tastes. Also limited this stuff to 1/4 cup quinoa since it is high in calories.

UPDATE: The quinoa was really good with all seasonings that were added to the water and then when the beef and tomato macaroni came out of the microwave and scooped onto a plate, I added small amounts of the sour cream and lime and tostitos queso, it was super. I am still full hours later. Nice that the package of quinoa does not need extra soaking. Gives me an additional meal.

@mara51506 OOOOOhhhh Now I get it. I have to buy the canned lentils.💡 I used the lentils from the bag. A little moistened with olive oil in a small non stick pan and sept stirring with a cake spatula, just for 5 minutes because pn the low flame the were still getting charred.. oi have an air fryer in my stove but never used it.🤷‍♀️they tasted burned so i threw them out. I’ll try again with the canned lentils. thanks so much sweet girl.🥰

Yes, I have never wanted to use the dried variety mostly because I cannot be bothered to have to soak them to make them. When canned, I can dump the can into the strainer and I can rinse off and put them in the fridge.

Use the canned variety next time, use the air fryer, add spray it slightly, add a pat of butter if you wish and add whatever dry seasoning you like the taste of. Set the air fryer on its highest temp and simply stir them every 3 mins or so, total time would be 15 mins. Do not try to get all tenderness out, they will dry up and get a bit of crunch on the outside. The butter gives a bit of richness and the dry seasonings make it taste the way you want. I have burned them to charred results and learned to pay attention to them.

If you only have dry lentils ensure you rinse first and soak them, you could possibly dump them all into a pot, fill with water and leave overnight. In the morning, grab a strainer and dump the lentils. Just keep them in airtight container in fridge. The cooking process in the air fryer is the same. Let me know if either of these methods help.
