@candy-678 Condolences for the loss of your best friend. It hurts to lose someone so special. I understand about not wanting this roller coaster of emotions to continue. I have already said if this last treatment doesn't work for me I will stop. Remember you are loved and are special. Take care of yourself.

@irishlove I am sorry you struggle with your DD and lack of help, in your pocket lending support of course and a listening ear of course. The manwich sauce is delicious, thinking I might take a trip to walmart once it warms up here on paratransit to pick some up as we have the same brand. I have dry seasoning but the can could go a long way and dress things up for me.
@goldensrbest Yes, getting together with Terra was very good, I appreciated that get together very much.
@candy-678 I am so sorry to hear about your friend, I definitely empathize with the loss and also the fact of being so tired when in treatment and just wanting it to be over. I am in your pocket sending support on both fronts.
I am not up to much right now, will be doing taxes some point soon, yippee but whatever. Got standard monthly bills. Have to locate my gaming phone to boost up budget a bit, through gaming. I am cancelling most of the streaming services as of now, watch one show on one group of channels and star trek on another, saves me 25.00. I will keep youtube premium for all the channels and no commercials.
I do not need groceries for a while, would like to avoid skip the dishes delivery, they can cost almost the cost of groceries, fast food is not that good. Today, picked out a can of potatoes, spooned out some of that used the meat masher, just to make smaller, added garlic spread as well and some left overs in the air fryer. Planning to heat through for 15 mins, use some queso, other seasonings as well. Later will use either my mini griddle to make an egg for a sandwich, top with some of my salad and using an english muffin for it. If anything else seems good, I will mention it.
EDIT I did eat the above meal, it was good except for the potatoes. Will not be eating canned potatoes. Hashbrowns, frozen potato cubes that will crisp up and of course fries are fine. I dumped the remaining canned potatoes. I will create a smaller circle of stuff that I enjoy, even pinto beans are not my favourite thing at this point. I did fix the hotdog problem as they are good coming from the air fryer. Have not made beef as of late as I was working my way through the hot dog meals. As far as the pinto beans, think they can combine with rice and be more pleasing when they are chopped through with cheeses, chips or croutons. I still have an issue with texture which I fix by running all beans through the chopper. Having said all that, I did finish up my lunch, mostly good tasting. Supper I am no longer sure what I will want to have.

@candy-678 I am so sorry for your loss. It must be devastating to lose your best friend. May God comfort you.

Hello ladies
@candy-678 sorry for the loss of your best friend. Sending hugs. I hope things that you love start presenting themselves in your life. Cancer forces us to stay at home alone and isolated causing such sadness.
Irish the family issues still keep piling in no matter if we’re sick or well. Take care and I hope the talks (boundaries lines in the sand) goes well. We’re dealing with family issues too. Just trying to be kind and FIRM. The firm bit is tough.
I just sat outside all day listening to birds eat and chirp while eating Japanese plums from my neighbors tree. I don’t know why but it was comfort ing.Take care all

@candy-678 Not sure where previous posts gone but I am so terribly sorry about the loss of of your friend and in pocket for decisions you are grappling with when it comes to going on. I can empathize with my stupid brain necrosis as well. No decisions for me personally, all depends on my health at a later date. For now nothing. If you just need to talk here please do it and know not one of us would tell what to do when deciding your own life.
I had a decent day. Weird food. Peas and lentils along with leftovers of hot dogs and ramen found their way into the air fryer. Loved it all. I put water in a couple of queso and sour cream and lime, shook up bottles and yes it was thinner than normal but tasted the same. Supper was a bigger turkey pot pie, delicious as well, both meals were very good.
I did my monthly bills and now taxes will follow, probably next week, there is a monthly benefit that comes in, want that first. Comes on the 10th. I have been playing games for money, I would be happy if could make 20 to 35 dollars a month, I will see. Cancelled all streaming channels outside of youtube. I can stream whatever I want on other free streaming sites. Also not having any skip the dishes, if I am craving a meal, could possibly take Paratransit over to Walmart and pick up Mcdonalds value stuff in there, be a lot cheaper than skip the dishes.

@tanya_djamila I am glad you had a peaceful and relaxing day for sure.

Well going through a cupboard to organize supplies, found three different seasonings not seen for a while. One was club house maple steak seasoning, dehydrated garlic and everything bagel. Thinking I would prefer these as proper spices so will run all though my coffee grinder which can function as a spice grinder. Can just grind them up and just put them in my used tostitos queso jars, I like those as they are glass. I used the money made from budget boosting games to pay 1.2 of an order of painters tape, decided it makes sense to label and less expensive for a bigger roll of tape, don't need permanent labels, just long enough to store things in. I want to take the spices and grind up tomorrow.

Condolences for your loss. I think that the depth of our grief is an indication of the depth of our love for and connection to the one who has passed. I'm sure that if you could ask your best friend, she would not want you to sacrifice the rest of your time here, but to live it for both of you. We are all caring about you and rooting for you .

@candy-678 My heart is breaking for you and your loss. I believe eleanora gave a heartfelt delivery of ongoing hope. Finding joy in the smallest things or perhaps something that will remind you of your best friend that will make you smile. It's not for me to say how to go forward, but I pray that you find the guidance to do so. You are loved by many.

Hi all you sweethearts. I hope you find signs of spring popping up along your travels. Gee what I'd give for a whiff of hyacinth, jasmine and lilacs. Someone take a whiff for me and I'll live vicariously thru you. lol
Bottlebrush and hibiscus bushes are cut way back. Despite covering them and placing heavy mulch on the roots, they took a beating. The boganvilla is another story. DH has to glove up, cover up exposed skin and cut a large number of branches. He usually cuts them small lengths and marks the bags with a warning and a $20 tip.
Our sweet pigeon has been lethargic, breathing heavily and diarrhea. She stopped eating and drinking. It took a day and a half for her to be seen. Pigeon is only 10 and healthy as a horse. We had to start her on antibiotics, horse pills for diarrhea and she rec'd a vit. B shot. Waiting on her blood tests. Thankfully she is already improved greatly in just two days. Our pocketbook has not. $350 and more to come. Thankful for the vet though. Minnie, the mama, has blocked doors wherever Pigeon is laying. What a great mama. It's difficult knowing these two are our last rescue dogs. Health reasons and I can't imagine who would adopt them. Well this adventure ended well as Pigeon is outback barking at the neighbors dog, who never, excuse the phrase, shuts up. All is well at this time.

@irishlove Oh so glad to hear pigeon bounced back! It's so hard they're our babies and hate to see them sick. I understand your sadness in this possibly being your last rescues. They bring so much joy and companionship but are definitely lots of work too. One day at a time and I hope you see and smell signs of spring real soon.🌷Picking up all the flowers today for my DD's bridal shower on Sunday. So I will I will send a big wiff down south to you! Hope you're enjoying watching some Phillies spring training games they have be televising them up here . Even if I'm not watching it's great background on the tv to check the score.
Hi to all here hope everyone had a decent week and has a nice weekend. 💕

@runor the Kefir milk is delicious and creamy like yogurt. I have a glass of it during the day 2 or 3 times. I scrape the creamy curd off the top of the cultured mixture and add it to the top of my glass of organic whole milk. It’s so good. The only odor comes from the whey liquid below the fermented cultur floating on top. I refresh it every other day so there’s no sour whey, which is also supposed to be very good. But i only drink the creamy kefir. Enjoy her website and recipes for all cultured veggies & desserts too

Hi everyone!!
@cookie54 yes I did get my appointments for treatment, PT and I saw my neurologist at the NJ Brain Spine Center in Montvale yesterday. All is well. I’ve been off this thread since a week 1/2. So I haven’t read thru anything yet. But just checking. In to say hi and keep up with you all. I’ve been especially worried about our @mara51506 and hoping she’s still doing well. ……I have to run now because I have a PT appointment to get to.🥰
4 -
@irishlove Happy to read that your sweet pigeon is back and I understand about the decision to have no more rescues.
@shanagirl Sounds like your treatments are going well. It is good to hear from you.
We are expecting snow all day today which is actually good since we have been so dry. I doubt it will total much where I live, but the mountains could really use it. So far the roads are clear and it rests on the grasses. I know it is not good for our early-budding trees though. I thought I was coming down with this latest virus but I feel better today. Perhaps I can even get a little housework done! My PCP is concerned that my pulse continually runs fast so I have been taking random data to send her. One glaring point is how much I sit—I am sure that is not a good thing so I will try to get up and going more. It is difficult when you just don't feel well.
Have a peaceful day.

@irishlove I am glad that Pigeon is feeling better and talking back to the barking dog. Can also understand the work it takes to look after animals, though I have cats, they create a lot of work for me as well.
I have laundry started, will do the rinse/softener cycle and toss in my bedroom dryer. I am utterly amazed how little detergent is actually required. Really thought more was better when I first started but it is about a drop from the Tide and I add literally one spray of tide spray and one spray of oxiclean maxforce spray. Still creates a sudsy wash for them.
Been unsatisfied with food as of late. Yesterday was OK mealwise but did not enjoy the microwaved egg as much. I think I would be better to use the wee pan for frying up an egg OR the mini griddle to get that done, make my own egg mcmuffin type vibe, I will see. When it comes to other veggies in a can, I can use the spice grinder to pulverize stuff and keep it all more normal for me. Just like a kid whose parent is hiding the veggies. Regarding the other spices I found, I need to pulverize them into a powder and since they are very strong tastes, stick to 1/8th of a tsp of each and still get a good flavour out of them. I also like the idea of hiding them. I am also thinking of whipping up some scrambled eggs with mayo to make more silky. Just add the eggs and mayo for flavour, I am thinking that kind of egg and basic english muffin would be good.
EDIT I did take two eggs, 1/4 cup of peas and bit of sour cream and garlic mayo. Whipped up in the magic bullet. Really could not detect the peas in there which was good. After everything whipped, added butter to a sprayed frypan and dumped the eggs and pea mix, stirred most of the time, did not take long to heat up. The texture was a bit weird, sort of a more liquid cottage cheese post heating, but in the end it all was very good. Realizing I can add lentils to a yogurt smoothie, add some mio and a little water and have extra fibre and nutrition is great. I did not wind up with english muffin, could tell the eggs and peas along with the bit of sour cream and garlic mayo was filling. I figure that whipped eggs could have anything added to them. New meal unlocked. I am imagining hotdogs done first in the air fryer then add to eggs with peppers and such, chopped together in the magic bullet and keeping the whipped style.
I do hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone, own pocket as well to finish out laundry and the cat area cleanup as well.

Slept OK, it is sunny and warm after thunderstorms last night came through. Already changed to lighter PJs as well. My legs feel strange today, like I am off balance, going to take it easy on the step stuff I was doing, Last night when getting into bed my butt slid forward so was going to slide off the bed to the floor. I was lucky enough to work my way back up and into the bed. Going forward, going to use my wee stool, has grooves in it and use that for some leverage. I am not sure what the issues are but oh well. If I need a cane that is fine. For now, I will take it easy on step bench exercise. I like to use both legs to keep them both strengthened and able to tackle stairs. I could also get the folding chair and exercise from there.
Not too sure what is happening today other than regular chores, I keep getting forgetful about laundry, thinking I will have to organize my chores into one thing at a time. I get a lot done and then forget about other ones which defeats the purpose. I also think if cleaning cloths that are not super dirty, a shorter cycle is in order. I have stuff sitting in the smaller washer which is currently acting as a hamper for dirty items.
Going to keep food easy for me today, no more waffling. I did enjoy the eggs that were whipped and cooked in the fry pan. I can either have that again, can also do a meat pie with an egg. I am not sure, got a ton of canned food to get through. Will post if I come up with something amazing.
We have the silly daylight savings time overnight moving our clocks forward. One of our provinces, BC will not be doing it again. Personally, I think Canada should drop the whole thing as modern farmers no longer need this sort of thing. Oh well, we will see if Ontario follows suit, Saskatchewan has not moved their clocks since the 60's.
I hope all have a good day and in pockets for all.

Decided to allow myself a treat and got an egg mcmuffin meal and a buy one get one free sausage mcmuffin. It really is stupid expensive but I love the taste. Fortune favours the brave, found 25.00 in paypal so I can put it back on the card I used right away.
I will refrigerate the sausage mc muffins and use those in meals. In the mean time there I go.
It was so yummy, love their hash browns mostly and of course the sandwich.

Good Saturday Morning my dear sweet ones. I’ve been siting here on my second cup of coffee, reading all about eye bag depuffing products just seeing waht’s out thee because I am definitely a make up, skincare girl😊. then I thought this is getting boring and the thought came in my mind that I want to check in with all of you. I came home yesterday from PT with a horrndous cold that came upon me all of a sudden in the evening while I was making dinner, and went to bed coughing sneezing chills and totally runny sinuses, and lots of tissues.🤧. So I’ve been hangin out on my I Pad all morning.
@mara51506 Yes I alwas loved the fast Mcdonld Breadkfast McMuffins. they always hit the spot and it’s ok to splurge once in a while. I always liked the Egg & bacon McGriddle and the home fry…..
Dear Sweet @irishlove I was so happy to read that your beloved Pigeon is doing better. Our animals are our children once our children grow up into adulthood. Our animals are our babies and our love for them is equally strong. Sometimes I sit with my 2 Pug brothers, now 7, and I just feel overwhelming love for them and imagine how awful it would be if they got so sick and passed away.. But they are both so atached and bonded to me,I don’t want to pass before they do. Oliver is especially attached to me sticks like glue to me. never leaves my side and is a big little mush. Samuel, also, but sometimes loves to hang downstairs with my DH & DS when they are watching their games.. But Oliver, is always glued to my hip day & night🥰
Also I haven’t read through everyone else’s posts. So hello everyone

Can you please tell exactly how you make your crispy lentils? D you just fry them in a pan or do they have to be softened first then fried?
1 -
Got the insomnia bug so been watching Matlock, the current one and it sucked me in so far. Once caught up to current episodes, may try the older show since it was on a good long time itself.
I did eat meals overnight because when I cannot sleep, I just eat like normal, makes me feel better physically. Setting the clock ahead is a bother as well. I really hope that as more provinces drop the whole thing, that we can do.

@shanagirl I do mine in my air fryer and I buy canned lentils. Rinse them first in a strainer once out of the can, put in airtight container. I like to make about a 1/2 cup at a time. I spray my airfryer with non stick spray but you do not need much spray. I heat my air fryer as high as it will go, 202C or I believe 392F. I also add garlic or another dry seasoning, whatever I want, dump the lentils. Keep the lentils mostly in a single layer. I do let them go for 15 mins but is advisable to check every few minutes to make sure they do not burn. I also use a spoon to stir them. I find that the easiest way to prevent charred lentils. Once they are done to your satisfaction, just dump them in a dish. If you want some crunch in a salad or other meal, you may go longer, just keep checking and stirring. I do the same with beans.
The amount of time you spend really depends on the crunch factor but I do not find them good if I char them too much. Only exception to that rule are hotdogs or chicken dogs, I love to really get the skin charred as much as possible. I've done them both chopped up first more like ground beef and airfry until a little bit charred of just torn a hotdog into pieces and done them up.
I am not sure about pan frying or oven frying. Doing them in the stove, I would still do on a high temp and I would put some sort of sprayed pan, drizzle the lentils with oil. Still think they need to be checked on as well. I am thinking 425 to start, set timer for 15 mins. In the stove, you not likely flipping them so keep checking them every few minutes and for the last few minutes, turn on the broiler so they crisp up top. I have the breville that I use so it is pretty easy.
If I was going to pan fry them, get pan, spray pan, add seasoning and do them on high. I would use a lid to keep heat higher and still stir them in the pan. That is how I would do it.
Simplest way to make them is in the air fryer which if you do not require a big one is inexpensive. Mine is a 2qt size. You can put whatever you want in it.

I have not started actual laundry other than a couple of hankies, I am doing them in a small salad spinner with basket taken out, once done the cycles, spin them in the basket to get dry and wipe down machine with vinegar. I keep the spinner in the linen closet. Unsure if SIL thought it was a mini washer, but it can function that way.
Once spun, just dry them on hanging dryer, clip to the rack and dry it. They are small and feel like they get lost in the shuffle but can do them in a mesh bag, sometimes, I split up the mesh bag into sections using elastics if doing pants and smaller items but if I like this way better for small things, will use the salad spinner. They are in the hanging dryer now, set for a couple of hours. They are no soft but are dry, if I want dry, need to tumble but that is not my first concern.
I am making some quinoa. The are pre soaked so just put 2 pts water and one part quinoa on to boil. Added some seasoning to the water, some taco seasoning as well. My general plan is to take the quinoa, do it on my oven first then do up a beef and tomato pasta. Once the Pasta comes out of the microwave, bring over and open to add the quinoa, will figure out a binder for it. Probably some sort of queso and sour cream, I will see. It will likely be a small amount of queso and ranch. Should be tasty and a good binder. I will post how it tastes. Also limited this stuff to 1/4 cup quinoa since it is high in calories.
UPDATE: The quinoa was really good with all seasonings that were added to the water and then when the beef and tomato macaroni came out of the microwave and scooped onto a plate, I added small amounts of the sour cream and lime and tostitos queso, it was super. I am still full hours later. Nice that the package of quinoa does not need extra soaking. Gives me an additional meal.

@mara51506 OOOOOhhhh Now I get it. I have to buy the canned lentils.💡 I used the lentils from the bag. A little moistened with olive oil in a small non stick pan and sept stirring with a cake spatula, just for 5 minutes because pn the low flame the were still getting charred.. oi have an air fryer in my stove but never used it.🤷♀️they tasted burned so i threw them out. I’ll try again with the canned lentils. thanks so much sweet girl.🥰
4 -
Yes, I have never wanted to use the dried variety mostly because I cannot be bothered to have to soak them to make them. When canned, I can dump the can into the strainer and I can rinse off and put them in the fridge.
Use the canned variety next time, use the air fryer, add spray it slightly, add a pat of butter if you wish and add whatever dry seasoning you like the taste of. Set the air fryer on its highest temp and simply stir them every 3 mins or so, total time would be 15 mins. Do not try to get all tenderness out, they will dry up and get a bit of crunch on the outside. The butter gives a bit of richness and the dry seasonings make it taste the way you want. I have burned them to charred results and learned to pay attention to them.
If you only have dry lentils ensure you rinse first and soak them, you could possibly dump them all into a pot, fill with water and leave overnight. In the morning, grab a strainer and dump the lentils. Just keep them in airtight container in fridge. The cooking process in the air fryer is the same. Let me know if either of these methods help.
3 -
@shanagirl When you try the lentils again, let me know. I am interested to see how it goes.
Slept all right though still feel tired from the time change. I hope my province follows suit like BC and parts of Saskatchewan and turn off the time change. Farmers do not need it anymore and it would be nice not to lose that hour. Luckily my appointment for Herceptin is in the afternoon on Wednesday.
Have the usual chores, laundry, bed making and such, have to decide what I want to have to eat. Going back to laundry, was a waste of time using the hang up dryer on those hankies, just going back to the dryer. Breakfast could be an egg with crispy lentils microwaved with a mini pot pie done. Microwave maybe 5 mins on high. Use some mayochup. I will see, it is not time for major eating yet.
Short post, nothing too much to say, it is nice and sunny here though. If I come up with a nice meal will say so though. I hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone too.

Update, went old school for the first meal. Opened can of black beans, chopped up black beans in regular chopper. I already prepared 1/2 cup white rice and a bit of chia seeds, not a ton. Heated both in water. I do a 1 to 1 ratio rice to water, bring to boil then put lid on with a lid. Let it cool. 2nd part of meal was the 1/2 cup chopped beans. Heated up a pan with garlic butter and once hot dumped both rice and beans in there. Put some burger sauce and sour cream and limes. I like to start with a hot pan before dumping in stuff. Then stir a couple of minutes and turn off burner, put lid on and let it cool on the stove. Already tasted some it was a good combo, will add a dash of salt since beans are not salted, I will see, just letting stuff cool off a bit. I also did not do a lot of chia seeds since I want to finish off a meal vs keep in the fridge.
Tonight's meal will be one egg and one mini pot pie. I will grease a bowl and place the mini pot pie in there, 5 mins or so with perhaps some frozen peppers. It might be good.
