Welp, I just realized today is NOT Wednesday, it's Tuesday. I'm beginning to be afraid that dementia is catching. . . .

I had a Cosmo at a nearby restaurant last night. We went there with our neighbors, who pick us up when we go for a meal together. They're younger than us, in their sixties, and we always enjoy getting together with them. This was a "goodbye" meal, since we leave on Monday to head north to MN for the summer.

NM - on the same HI trip with my 90+ year old Dad, he refused to let me order a wheelchair with the airlines. Then when he saw those with wheelchairs breezing ahead in the LONG security lines and had a hard time standing, he decided he wanted one. Obviously a little too late. But we got one on the Norwegian cruise and on the airplane trip home.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Saturday! I had a pretty fun visit with Mom yesterday. I took Colt, the big boy dog, along for the visit. Made little Miss Zoe unhappy to be left home alone, but she seemed to survive even if she didn't talk to me for the rest of the day! Mom got a kick out of Colt's visit, even though she couldn't keep track of which name to call him. At one point Mom was scratching his bum (his very favorite thing in the world) and he sat down on her foot to make sure she didn't stop or try to go anywhere. I do feel sorry for the girl that came in to get Mom for lunch, Colt was lying down in front of the closed door (the coolest place in a very, very warm room). She knocked and came in, the door bumped Colt who was trying to jump up and the both got startled. She squeaked, he barked, and everyone got bit of a chuckle.

Carole--I remember having a Peach Cosmo when I was in Hawaii one evening, it was so good and I've never found another as good. Glad you had a good time with your neighbors.

Minus--Mom will at least use the wheelchair services, and I use it to as my knee can't take the long walks at the fast speed needed to get from gate to gate. I read somewhere that people are starting to catch on to the wheelchairs to the head of the line and are requesting them even if they don't have mobility issues to get through the lines quicker. I guess people will do anything to the head of a line faster. It's not like the plane will take off any sooner if I get on any faster.

    Jazzy--wow, that looks so pretty!

Wally--I hope she did have a margarita! Double YUM indeed!

    Morning, Teka!

The above is the same cactus. It starts yellow and turns more tangerine as the day goes on. Unlike my red cacti, the blooms only last one day

Like Carole - I drink bourbon in the winter. It's definitely summer here - in the 90's - so I've switched to gin & tonics. Jazzy - most of my friends prefer vodka & tonic, but I really like the taste of gin.

NM - thanks for the Mom update and the chuckle about Colt & the aide. I can imagine she squeaked since he is certainly not a small dog. Sad to hear about the "wheelchair abuse" at the airports. Just read an article about travelers snatching someone else's seat in planes and refusing to move.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey Day! Thank goodness for clocks that show the day, date, and time in large print, otherwise I would not have any idea what day of the week it is. I've been behind a day all weekend. Not that it really matters, except for keeping track of Mom's appointments. And the puppers heartworm, flea, and tick pills. Which were due yesterday I see on my calendar, better take care of that today! It was beautiful out on the back deck yesterday peeyem, if I ignored the leaves and branches that need to be cleaned off. So nice to sit in the sun, listen to the birds sing, and the puppers snoring while reading a good book.

Jazzy--beautiful blossom! The way the color changes is fascinating.

    Morning, Teka!

Minus--I'm surprised the poor girl didn't scream rather than squeak, she almost tripped over him as he was getting up, she's short, he's tall, they were almost nose-to-nose for a moment! Seat squatting on planes does seem to be a growing issue. How do people figure they can pay for one seat and then just take any seat they want? Do they really think people who paid extra for specific seats are going to just shrug and quietly take another, less desirable seat just because the squatter is so special? I really do not understand the mindset that comes with all of this.

    Cactus Flower

    Ingredients
    • 2 oz (60 ml) tequila
    • 1 oz (30 ml) triple sec
    • 1/2 oz (15 ml) fresh lime juice
    • 1/2 oz (15 ml) agave syrup
    • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh cucumber juice
    • Ice cubes (enough for shaking)
Optional garnish: A slice of cucumber or an edible flower for a pop of color.

    Method
    1. Add the tequila to a cocktail shaker.
    2. Pour in the triple sec, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and cucumber juice.
    3. Fill the shaker with ice cubes, then shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. You want the mixture to be well-chilled and blended.
    4. Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe glass. (If you don’t have a coupe, a martini glass works just as well!)
    5. Optional: Garnish with a slice of cucumber or an edible flower for a touch of elegance.

Cheers! This was something called a 1414 or something (!) And included vodka, spritzer, lime and cucumbers. Im try to lessen the sugar in my summer drinks and this hit the spot, perfect. Our view:

It looks like I'm a real internet-based small business designer now. My IP was bootlegged. This is one of my Half-Flat designs, but not my product. In her defense, she is in the EU, where I am not selling currently (thanks to the stupid tariff wars), and this seems to be a commissioned piece rather than a marketed item. But still….

I like the appellation - boozy friends. Certainly describes me to a "T". Had a liver test last wee. Doc's response is "some fatty tissue but no fibrosis". Guess what- I may try to start walking again or get back to water aerobics, but at 82 - I am going to continue to "imbibe two short drink every night. So will I die sooner???

Welcome back north Carole! Not far from you here in NW Wisconsin!

Bought a lilac bush for my property, hoping to get down there today to plant it and then see my aunt before heading over to the cemetary where my maternal granddad is buried for a visit fir what would have been his birthday later this week. So sick of the seesaw temps. If its gonna get warm, then do it and stay that way!

Made hubby a special surprise for his birthday. Sausage patties and pancakes. Never made him reakfast for his birthday before and i bought a new cast iron griddle pan the other day to replace one that had been left behind in the move. Seasoned it and then made the breakfast. He woke up just as I was setting the table and putting his cup of coffee on the table.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Memorial Day! Many thanks and much appreciation to everyone who has served and to the families and friends of those who have served and sacrificed all for our country and all it stands for.

I took Colt with me to see Mom yesterday, his second visit to the facility. He figured out pretty quickly that if he looked at me with the big, I'm-so-hungry eyes that I would remind Mom to give him a treat. He also figured out it was fun to rub against Mom's swivel chair and spin her around. Mom would yelp and laugh and present another treat. The Big Boy may look like a dufus but he's got our numbers. He's already started working on the staff, too.

mOmmy--I bet you will love the food sealer! Such a practical idea. I love mine.

Miriandra--it does sound like you've made the big times in e-commerce! I'm sorry someone bootlegged you, even if it is a bit of a compliment. Hopefully someday you will be able to break into the international market, too.

Carole--Jumping on the Boozy Friends bandwagon! Great description of us! Enjoy your summer location!

Minus--I'm with you on the continuation of a glass or two of wine or a drink in the evening and "so what if I die sooner" philosophy. What good is living years and years longer if you can't do anything that you enjoy? I'd rather have a happy couple of days of life than a deprived couple of decades.

mOmmy--lilacs are so beautiful. Around here they are just coming into bloom, one of the signals that Memorial Day is here.

Wally--sorry the wine didn't meet expectations. I suppose we can't expect a 100% greatness rate when we try something new.

mOmmy--What a wonderful birthday breakfast for DH!! I bet he loved it.

Jazzy--that looks different! Was it good?

I tested out the new food sealer yesterday, love it better than the old one that i had and killed. Much quieter and more hands off! Hubby and i are thinking of growing a few veggies in planters here as we cant make a mess of the yard of the rental we are in, so i am pricing out soil and planters to raise a few veggies on the back porch. Will shift the containers to flowers later when we are finally settled. I love lilacs, had planted one at the house we sold in memory of my late sister and cried buckets when my old neighbor said the new owners took it out. I decided that its just the start of the stuff i want to do to our property. Want to get a crab apple tree so that i can make jelly, my aunt has one and she advised me not to get the kind she has, so i have been researching good ones that will thrive in our hardiness zone.

Cool. Started switching my clothing from the cold weather to warmer. Only have my shirts and some pants to pack away. Still have to go through my dress clothes to pick out what i am going to wear to a cousin's wedding in July.

Went to Walmart and got a bell pepper plant and a tomato plant for the back deck. Still need to get a cucumber plant and maybe two squash plants.

    Carole - I love loons 🥰

NM - it was quite tasty. Here's some poppies in Taos yesterday. Perfect find for Memorial Day

Mommy - the planters that can go with you sound like a great idea.
