So...whats for dinner?

Nance, The beginning of July is a good time for a turkey dinner since it’s about six months after Thanksgiving.
m0mmy, Yum on the beef kebabs.
Eric, Your witty metaphor made me laugh.
Dinner tonight was chicken in orange curaçao sauce, sautéed zucchini and mashed potatoes.

Tonight I cooked a pork roast….and when Sharon got home from the music jam, "Oh. I wish I had known. I stopped for pizza." So, the pork will be for tomorrow.
I talked with "Lucy's dad" and he says that Lucy is moping. I guess we spoiled her. :-)

We had a frozen pizza for dinner last night, cooked on a pizza stone in the outdoor gas grill. The box was much larger than the pizza, and the pizza wasn't a "looker" when it was done. But it tasted good. Easy meal and minimal cleanup.
We have been watching the "football" matches and wish there was more explanation of the rules.

Finished the last of that ribeye. Made a shrimp (canned…not great) macaroni salad. I'll no doubt be eating that mac salad for several days before it gets tossed.
I forced myself outside and trimmed the overgrowth over my driveway of bush/tree/blackberry canes so my car won't get scraped. Wore his shirt, hat and gloves and sobbed through it.

Carole, DH grew up in Europe where “football” was the big sport. He knows the general rules from long ago but many of the fine points have changed over the years. I suppose this happens in every sport like the time clock imposed on baseball pitchers and the introduction of designated hitters. He ended up googling articles about what now constitutes a foul and the latest offside rules.
Eric, I’m not surprised that Lucy misses the wide open space and Daisy.
Wally, It's hard to keep going with a hole in your heart but you are doing it. Hugs.
Dinner tonight was pan fried tilapia, Lima beans and sweet potatoes.

I think Belgium might have been motivated by the controversy over the reversal of the red flag penalty against the US player. We watched part of the game and the US was badly outplayed.
Our dinner was leftover Italian beef and home-made mashed potatoes. I found a jar of giardiniera yesterday at Hugo's.
After dinner we had a storm that lasted at least an hour. It's looking like July is going to be hot, hot, hot, which promises violent storms. Our cool/cold June is just a memory.

Opened a can of chili and took 1/2 on corn chips with melted cheese. Still have the macaroni salad.
My head feels like it and my heart will explode. Appreciate your thoughts of my sweet DH.

Wally I wish you didn’t have to bear your grief alone. It can be helpful to stay or have someone stay with you. I know that’s not always possible. I’m so sorry.
Last night was taco salad carried out from a local Mexican restaurant. It was quite good even though I don’t care for the ubiquitous fried flour tortilla It’s served in. Tonight’s offering is a patty melt and some kind of oven cooked potato. Sliced cucumbers and onions in vinegar for me.
Everything I know about soccer I learned from Ted Lasso lol.

DD came up with my grandson to visit for a couple of days. It rained on and off so puddle jumping was the day’s entertainment. Dinner tonight was meat loaf Cockaigne (which he loved,) sautéed summer squash and mashed potatoes.

We had his and hers leftovers and a tossed salad.
DH has a dermatologist appointment in Bemidji today. I will ride with him, and we'll have lunch in Bemidji.
Wally, hugs for you as you grieve.
Maggie, what a pleasure for you and your dh to visit with DD and grandchild.
We had more rain last night but of the non-violent variety. My poor deck plants look so bedraggled.

Going to try and make Oriental Spaghetti soon. Havent had it in years and I got the recipe from a friend from where I grew up in the area of New England where it was a staple at a restaurant there.

open faced sardine sandwich. Started calling all the insurance/finance/icky stuff….sob.

mOmmy - what is oriental spaghetti?
Wally - the nightmare will eventually end. Holding you close as you fight your way through this.
Dinner was a sliced avocado, a can of smoked oysters and 2 ears of pre-packaged corn on the cob. No one at Kroger could tell me if they will have Olathe Corn this year. Sigh!!! But at least Central Market is still planning a Hatch Chili fest.

Carole, I hope you enjoyed your lunch in Bemidji.
Wally, All those phone calls and time waiting on hold make a difficult task worse. Hugs.
Minus, The corn crop seems to be delayed in many places because of the weather. It’s good that you’ll be able to get your Hatch Chiles this year.
Dinner tonight was Turkish meatballs made from ground lamb on rice.

minus, it's kind of like a lo mein but with garlic and soy sauce with linguine noodles, veggies and proteins such as pork, beef, chicken or shrimp. I always had it with pork or beef. It was a staple of Salas Restaurant in Newport, RI where I lived for many years.

Lunch at Lazy Jack's bar and grill was wonderful. I had the special, prime rib sandwich served with au jus. And sweet potato fries. DH had a California burger (lettuce, tomato, pickle) and onion rings. Amazingly, there was one server, yet no long wait on food. No dinner last night but we did have dessert, Moose Tracks ice cream with dark chocolate syrup.
It was a nice day, deviating from our normal routines.

mOmmy - Thanks. I'm going to try the oriental spaghetti.

Carole, How nice to have a great day which is out of the ordinary.
m0mmy, I haven’t made oriental spaghetti for many years. Thanks for the reminder.
Dinner tonight was chicken in su- dried tomato sauce with mashed potatoes.

Dinner was a chicken skillet dish with sliced chicken breast, onion cut into large rings, red bell pepper and broccoli. Sprinkled liberally with soy sauce. Not a culinary delight but sufficed as a meal. The broccoli was cooked just right.
We had happy hour on Mary's deck earlier. She made a pizza with a sheet of lavashe (sp), which is a large Armenian cracker with sesame seeds. About 16 in. in diameter. They come in paper packets of three. She tops the cracker with green pepper, fresh mushrooms, onions and Havarti cheese. She leaves the onions off a little section for me. We bought the lavashe on our trip to Bemidji.

My days are a blur. I think I had the rest of the chili and corn chips the night before; finished the macaroni salad topped with an egg for last night. Zero ideas for the days ahead.
Lovely to read everyone's meals and days…..

Carole, The lavash pizza sounds interesting. I have had the flatbread before since I grew up in an Armenian neighborhood but never one used as a pizza crust.
Wally, You continue to make dinner so that is a good thing. You always figure out how to use what’s in your freezer, too.
DD and my grandson left this morning so things are quieter in the house.
Dinner tonight was sweet and sour chicken on rice.

Dinner was left over wild rice with two hard boiled eggs. Need to confess that was after two Gin & tonics.

Dinner was a grilled ribeye, cooked perfectly by dh, and a tasty corn dish. Corn off the cob, colored bell pepper and leek cooked in a skillet with butter.
Today is farmers market and the first day of several very hot days calling for a heat warning. Fortunately, the market ends at 1 pm.

Same here Carole!
Gonna be fun trying to cook in this crud.

I’m very excited. Yesterday our friends from our former rural community brought me a dozen ears of fresh picked local corn. Since we had a late lunch out with our friends, dinner last night was two ears of the delicious stuff. Lunch for me was a seafood linguini, pizza for DH, with enough leftovers for lunch today.
Dinner will be grilled pork burgers and corn on the cob.

Carole, I’ve never had leek mixed in with corn and bell peppers. It sounds good so I’ll have to try it. Stay cool.
Nance, I’m envious of your fresh local corn.
Minus, Sometimes strange food combinations taste great.
@illimae, I hope you and the pups are enjoying the view and you have found some simple foods you can eat.
@rlschaller, Hopefully your DH is doing OK and you are enjoying fresh veggies from the CSA.
DS came up this afternoon to go camping for a couple of days. He has to be in the area for work at the beginning of next week so he ate dinner with us and headed out to the woods.
Dinner tonight was stuffed peppers and mashed potatoes.
