cindyny, like the new siding on the garage. Perhaps a Smokey the Bear poster on the side that faces your neighbor statin "only you can prevent garage fires"! Have they even offered to replace your fence or acknowledged they caused the damage? I'd do the shed part while access is available.
Chris, I like your idea for meals in a bag that you can freeze. Let us know what type of meals you will be freezing. How are they prepared when defrosted? Make Tippy happy and give him that run. He'll sleep well after.
I had a pulmonary nodule after my second TKR and it was discovered on chest CT. Had to have a repeat CT 6 months later and it was gone. Think it was a byproduct of fluid overload post-knee surgery.
We have had daily thunderstorms for the past few days so heat and humidity have been high. So no gardening because ground is too soft to try to mulch on an incline even though bed has been weeded. Also, too darn humid. Means my water bill won't be as high this month.
DH sent soil sample off to state to try to determine why the bed that we tilled, fertilized and planted the rooted pachysandra in didn't grow yet again. I have planted it 3 times this year with no luck. Hopefully the results will be helpful. Prior to having the new walkway installed this was a thriving bed of pachysandra. It was crushed by heavy equipment and has never really recovered. It grows weeds remarkably well though.
Finished vacuuming first floor today and then wiped down counters in kitchen, removed plants from garden window and watered them, and then wiped down the granite floor in the garden window before returning the plants. Will work on eat in area tomorrow after I clean the bird cages. It just needs a good dusting of the bay window sill and the baker's rack. It won't take long and I may get to dusting the family room as well.
I have a box of jewelry I decided to part with that I will sort through tonight. I had put items I hadn't worn for years or no longer liked in this box and into zip lock bags. I'll take one more pass before deciding on how to get rid of it. It's mostly sterling silver jewelry. I don't wear much gold, unless it is white gold. I do have a few very good pieces, but they are dressier ones.
Lots of storm damage and flooding associated with these storms over the past few days. Feel for the people with flooded basements or businesses. Massive trees down, too, because the ground is soggy and with high winds, the older trees topple easily, as I well know.

we finally got some rain today. It has been so dry here. It was a real soaker for a while but I don’t know if it’s enough to help. Maybe we’ll get more tonight.
The pulmonologist said the spot on his lung could be nothing, so that’s what we’re praying for.

Happy Sunday to all. Today is our wedding anniversary. We were married in 1969. I was counting up the people who attended our small wedding who are no longer alive. We are going out to dinner tonight at a favorite Italian restaurant to celebrate.
Today will be another hot day in an unusually hot July in northern MN. I heard on tv that MN is one of the states that will be most affected by climate change.

Happy Anniversary! We were married in 1974. My Mother had already passed then and only one of her sisters was able to attend our wedding. My dad was one of the”yours, mine and ours” and was third youngest of 17. I still miss the ones we were closest to and who stuck by us when my dad passed. His one sister passed at 107 in 2018 and was still sharp as a tack. It was hard for her being the last. My son in law said there was going to be a huge party in Heaven for her!

carolhalston, Happy Anniversary. We were married in 1972 on the last day of finals from college. My pastor had to leave to go out of town for a month after so we snuck the wedding in before he had to leave. My best friend had to get married on Wednesday that week as I beat her to the calendar! But that also meant she was not in my wedding.

I have chosen seven recipes. Some adaptations for low carb. Mostly soups. You open a carton of broth, then dump in the partially thawed bag, and cook. Turkey with bean and kale soup, beef barley stew, minestrone, chicken and (wild rice) I will substitute quinoa, turkey taco (pasta) I will substitute low carb pasta, black bean soup, chicken low-carb noodle soup. They are mostly soups, but that is what I am used to. Do what is safe, then be adventuresome later. I will enjoy experimenting with curries. I hope I can divide the bigger recipes into two or three bags, so I won't have much leftovers.
I don't want to think of my marriage. It was a disaster.

Happy Anniversary Carole! A day late and a dollar short, but cheers all around. I hope you enjoyed your dinner.
I had a great day yesterday just lounging around the pool, after I dragged the hose around to give a good soaking to my plants. I was in & out of the pool. Floated around for a bit, but I can’t read my book doing that so back on the deck I went. I did finish my book.
Dinner was left over brats we grilled the day before, and only needed to heat up. SO took care of the corn in the cob, and that was tasty too. We’re avoiding the bagged salad for now, with the parasite sending folks into gastrointestinal distress and the CDC doing nothing.
We did the normal Sunday fare of stripping the bed, getting laundry complete. Then before bed realizing we didn’t remake the bed. It’s becoming our normal.
Weather should be good today, although 88 is high. It’s tomorrow’s weather with a high of 97 we need to watch out for. And I’ve got a pap scheduled for 11AM tomorrow. Only blessing is AC.
I’m meeting gf’s for lunch today, and we’re eating inside, taking a pass on the deck.

Belated happy anniversary, carol and I hope your dinner was delicious. I wish you many more. I was married in '75 so we just celebrated our 51st while we were in Ireland.
Anyhow, it is hot and humid, and we have been experiencing some bizarre weather with thunderstorms in the late afternoons and evenings plus intense microbursts of wind. The damage from massive trees toppling, flooding, power outages that are persisting and the wind damage ahs really struck some areas hard. Homes and cars have been crushed, power outages mean no fans or AC, food defrosting in refrigerators and freezers, and no lights after dark. I really feel for these people because I have shared that experience in the past.
Tomorrow we are to get another heat dome for the next several days and while the rains have been damaging, we are in a serious drought and the trees have been dropping leaves more. They are really stressed. My ferns have a tendency to burn up, but will recover when there is sufficient rain. The rain has helped decrease my water bill because I was watering the patio and other plants close to the house almost daily.
DSIL has her Dad's house for sale and the interest has been far more than she expected. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath rancher with an attached 2 car garage and a large yard. It needs some updating, but for a starter home the owner could just freshen the paint, remove and replace the carpets or put down other flooring in the bedrooms only. The living room and dining room, kitchen and eat-in room have had the floors replaced with durable vinyl planking which is almost new. One bath room has also been done recently. The kitchen cabinets are original, but with new facings and doors or a good coat of paint they are usable and the counter tops are granite installed in the past few years. It will come with a refrigerator in the kitchen, an upright freezer in the garage and an oak TV armoire if they want it. She had given away all the furniture that she had no room for and sold the walnut mid century modern dining room furniture to an antiques dealer. She did take some furniture to furnish the condo she bought for her DB. It will also come with a washer and dryer that are about 2 years old and a 5 year old roof. So a great starter home for a family.
She has received an insulting low ball offer from a flipper who also wanted a bridge mortgage deal and that is a hard "no". So far most bids have been above asking and the highest one is a good one as long as they can get a mortgage. They have 7-8 more scheduled showings scheduled between today and Wednesday and I am sure they will get more. This is the last major item in the estate that she has to deal with and she is looking for a break. Hopefully it is sold within the next week or so. Her DD is expecting her first baby around the date of her Dad's birthday so she wants to be free for that.
Meanwhile my DB is at their other home in FL because he needed a break. He will return in time for the baby and DSIL welcomes his company again. His birthday is 7/27 so it would be nice for the baby to be born then. They are keeping the name a secret so everyone is eager for the birth.
The ground has been too soft to work on the steep incline garden beds for mulching so I am chomping at the bit to get back to it. I have less than 20 bags left and only 3-4 areas I want to address. One is the daffodil hill, and another is the lower part of the secret garden. Bothe need some weeding and mulch application. We also want to install stainless steel supports to the walls around the patio. We have them and we could do them in the early AM if the humidity is bearable. We'll see.
We made arrangements for the fall 2027 trips. We have a cruise to Norway arranged and needed to tie it to a land tour. We finally found one that works with the cruise dates so we will take a guided tour of Paris and Provence. We will have a few days in Paris prior to the tour to do the museums we want to see, and then after the cruise we will travel from Rotterdam when the ship dumps us off and we will head to Amsterdam for a few days. Many years ago we took a dinner canal cruise in Amsterdam where the ship stopped at different restaurants for each course of the meal. It was lovely and we'd like to do it again. Plus I love the pancakes you can get in Amsterdam! I am hoping that the restaurant around the corner from the Marriott we were staying at is still there. We ate outside and the street was one where they sold marijuana, so breakfast was served with a contact high.
Saw the lymphedema PT today. My first appointment in June was a cancellation and this was the first offered to me initially when I called for an appointment. The registrar did not want to book me out this far due to their policy, but I was insistent because I knew if I waited like she wanted, my first appointment would be August or September. She had a resident PT who is working n certification with her today and I was trying to convince her this is where the greatest need is because lymphedema PT's are scarcer than hen's teeth. She only works part-time and is old enough she is considering retiring. Plus today I learned she had BC dx 4 years ago when I asked if she had cut her hair. She is Irish with once abundantly thick, curly hair that was down to her butt and I noticed that it is thinner, much shorter and she wears it in a tight bun. She had chemo and it really did a job on her hair. It's still thicker than mine, growing longer she says and the color is the same. I'll talk to her more next week since she mentioned this as I was leaving. I think she might have had a mastectomy, too.
I hope everyone had a great day and waving "hi" to everyone. Other than this appointment and running to CVS to pickup prescriptions, I haven't done much. Of course, CVS just sent me a text telling me they have another prescription for me to pick up! Couldn't tell me when I was there at 2:30?

I haven't been drinking enough water and got a UTI. Went down to the hospital this morning for PT. Came home, had a REALLY painful session on the toilet. Thought about it and called the clinic. She said they had no available appointments this week, but you I really needed to get to the doctor this week. I went back down to the hospital, then halfway across town to pick up my prescription. I got a glass of water at the hospital. Took a big bite out of my day.

Chris, UTIs are horrible! I am on my third prescription for a UTI as the other two prescriptions helped it go away then promptly returned. My MO called the prescription in for me but she also wanted a UA lab. Since I was going to my orthopedist appointment today that worked well. The lab results show many bacteria so I may have to change antibiotics again…we'll see. In the meantime, trying to get to the toilet in time with this broken leg has been a real challenge not to mention having to change clothes frequently with a boot on lol. I have a PET scan on Wednesday then hopefully I am home until my annual PCP exam on Monday. Somehow I need to catch a break!

Betrayal, not only do you take us with you but involve us in the planning. Sounds like another great trip.
See ortho Wed. for 8 week check. Last PT on Friday. PT is pleased with my progress as am I. Have been able to really cut down on my OTC pain meds. Golf scores haven't gotten better but I'm playing again when we can get an early tee time.
Terrible dust two nights in row but no rain for us. Water is a very serious problem and getting worse. I wonder how much longer people will be able to live here and yet the powers that be continue to try entice businesses and thus more population. This town was under 20,000 when we moved here 28 years ago and is over 150,000 with an expected major rail terminal, a data center and an immigration center coming.
Sent my Storyworth effort to the publishers this morning. It has been a fun endeavor. Also got me to put some organization to pictures we had in assorted places, including at Debbie's and my DS.

I skipped the gym yesterday and got my exercise using a step ladder and wielding a long-handled brush washing the rear and the front of the 5th wheel camper serving as our summer home. The front was especially dirty, thanks to nearby pine trees. I still have to clean the longer expanses of the two sides of the camper. With the heat it's a good time to use the hose and get wet with the spray as well as perspiration. Today I'm playing golf at 9 am, just 9 holes.
Our heat continues. By noon it's hot enough on the deck that dh and I both retreat to the a/c cooled interior of the camper. I should be finished with golf by 11 am.

Heat wave here today too. 95 but felt 99, high humidity.
I had my GYN appointment this morning at 11, for annual pap. Well at 12:30 I had to ask if I should reschedule. Receptionist said she could get me in tomorrow, but I have my PCP physical tomorrow. So I sat reading a new book I brought with me. At around 1 she took me back to the room. Dr was just starting with the woman in the next room. I didn’t get out of there until 2 PM!! Took over my whole day.
I’m going to talk on UTI’s and lubricants. SKIP if you want. But UTI ladies, because I could hear just about everything thru the walls at my dr office, I heard the dr tell the patient that because of her frequent UTI’s she should be using a lubricant once a week. The vagina and the bladder share a wall and as the vagina dries out - just like dry eye, you need to lubricate it. Her suggestion is coconut oil. She said drinking all the water in the world won’t help the vagina.
As I said, I was there for a LONG time, sitting on the table, still reading my book. Don’t take my overheard medical advice, ask your doctor if there is any truth to it.I did get to read about 150 pages in my book. My gf thought I was waiting for my car to get inspected. That was funny.
I watered some potted plants and filled bird baths that were dry. Tomorrow I’ll drag the hose around again.Stay safe and stay hydrated!

Cindy, I love your lube-job story lol. That is a long time to have to wait for an appointment!
Since my UA lab results came back as bacteria so your suggestion is plausible. I see my PCP in two weeks so I'll ask her. My orthopedist allowed me a shorter boot. It is much lighter. I am still working on getting it not to rub but there is a huge bruise where it rubs so perhaps that will work itself out once the bruise is gone.

intonight, try arnica on the bruise. You can buy it OTC and it can be pricey but it helps bruise reabsorb faster and decreases pain. My oral surgeon told me about it.

I have a hair appointment at 10 am for a trim that is needed after 6 weeks. Another hot day ahead. We keep the camper closed with the a/c set to come on at 80 degrees. The a/c unit in the bedroom is manually operated, no thermostat. When we're here, we run it to help the main a/c. Both are a life saver. Starting today, we have a smoky air alert. Sadly, there are fires in the Boundary Waters between MN and Canada, a lovely wild area for canoers and campers. DH did a Boundary Waters trip with his brother one year. The fires are wreaking havoc with the businesses depending on the outdoors visitors. I saw interviews on tv.
I caught a second mouse last night. Today I'll buy another package of the traps.
Things can always be worse, but I am not enjoying this stretch of heat. Oddly, we're not having thunderstorms. In fact, it has gotten very dry.

Good morning. I am putting my house on the market. I have to downsize. This house has become too much to handle. Stuff keeps breaking! My CT scan was unremarkable except for an enlarged lymph node. Labs were all normal. YAY. Today I have yoga. I think I am still the substitute teacher for this one. After that I have lunch with my BFF. I have a load to take to the thrift store. I took one yesterday, as well. I have a lot of stuff to get rid of. I am looking for a small condo. I think that would be the best when I become a snowbird.

petite1, it sounds like a good idea to find a place that requires less upkeep on your part. Fingers crossed you can find a condo that suits your needs and without a prohibitive HOA fee. Now that you have the house in NC, and your increasing social life with yoga and other activities, you don't want to feel overstretched by house demands.
taco, so happy to hear you can play golf again. Mobility is underappreciated until it becomes challenging and then finding a solution that works is great.
cindyny, you have far more patience than I ever would with that gyn appointment. I would never have waited that long. Loved your photos of the flowers in your yard. The one small blue on looks like a Batchelor buttons? Used to have them in my childhood garden, but haven't seen them in years.

DSIL's highest offer on her Dad's house was abruptly withdrawn and the house still has some scheduled viewings for today. Don't know why they withdrew their offer when the house met all their needs and they had been looking for quite a while. They did have approval for mortgage in hand, too. She's disappointed because they were to settle in 30 days. Her youngest DD is due to have her baby around 7/31, and she was hoping to get this last estate issue settled soon after. She hasn't been to the house in FL since November and is craving a break. She got her DB settled in his new condo, is filing taxes on the estate today and just wants this to end. I really feel for her.
It is incredibly hot so no yard work for me today. I have laundry to do and ordered dust bags for my purses. This means I have to examine all the purses I have and decide which ones I need to keep and which ones should be donated. I seem to fall back on the same ones so it means I have to rotate more often, donate those that no longer work or appeal to me and then put keepers back in the closet. I currently have them in large wicker type bins and may decide to get rid of them, too. They do keep them contained, but they are bulky. The shelves are corner ones so they are large and they accommodate 2 bins per shelf. I'd like to get them sorted by season and maybe down to just 2 bins on one shelf.
Got the soil results from the state and have ordered the additives we need to correct the pH and potash deficiency. All other elements were over optimal so this is why even the hardy pachysandra was dying. Asked DS if he can borrow his neighbor's tiller again so we can really get down the 6-8 inches they recommend.
Can't find the stretcher part of the cross-stitch stand and don't know why they got separated. Might be in attic, so I may have to go up there in the morning to see if I can locate it. I looked in the basement storage closet, my large sewing cabinet shelves and drawer, and no dice. It clamps onto the stand and is adjustable so I do need to find it. Now that I finally want to work on the counted cross stitch I have had for ages, I run into a road block. It's got to be here, just don't know where.
My Clematis finally decided to bloom this summer. It hadn't bloomed for the past 2 summers and I don't know why. It's lovely and so abundant. It really needs to be trimmed, but I am hesitant because I want it to keep blooming for years to come. I watered the patio flowers last night because they were dry and made sure I watered the juniper we uprighted, too.
I took photos of my new yard birds and will post them. They are not in their spots yet because I need to finish mulching it.

Cindy, that makes sense— I had to use some hormone cream a year or so ago because the wall between vagina and rectum was getting thin. I have no need for lubricant, but using it to ease the burning sensation would be a good idea. This is the first one for me— ever.
petite, getting into a condo would be a good idea. You have the NC cottage but I couldn't see you living there full time, given your social commitments in Florida.
Wicked hot here. Tippy is complaining about the wind in the apartment. I wish I could explain the problem to him in a way he could accept it.

Air quality alert due to smoke from Canadian fires drifting down to this area. Recommend do not work outside unless absolutely necessary and then you need to wear an N-95 mask to protect your lungs from small smoke related particulates that can cause permanent lung damage. The skies are brown and the sun appears out of worldly with a haze over it. It is also supposed to hit over 100 degrees today. It is absolutely still outside, no breeze.
carole, if the smoke in your area is still bad, please take care of your lungs. Stay indoors and if you can't wear an N-95 mask.
I'm doing laundry and still awaiting an Amazon order of the purse dust bags I ordered. I'd like to work on this today and feel like I've accomplished something. I am getting bags ready for donation for the charities next pickup in the neighborhood.
The other day I was looking online for maxi type dresses I could take on our fall cruise. However, because I am so short and do not want to have to alter them for length, I was looking at petites. No luck because I want short sleeves and everything seemed to be spaghetti straps or sleeveless. I started poking around in my closet and as they say "shop your closet", I found 3 maxi skirts I had forgotten about. I need to try them on to see if they fit now or if they need to be taken in. Since I wear knee high compression stockings all the time, they need to be able to hide the tops when I sit as well. One is white, another is black and the third is a blue, green, black and white floral that lends itself to multiple top usage. They are all lined, too.
I also found two long sheath dresses I had bought in Egypt. They have Egyptian symbols on them in gold and they would be ideal for Halloween. One is royal blue and the other is black. They fit well, but do need to be hemmed a few inches. It will be an easy fix because the hem they have is less than 1 inch, so I can pull the threads and let that down, Then decide what hem length I need. I could hem using my machine, but most likely will hand sew. I could also add a narrow belt to solve the hem problem. I'll try it with a belt before I hem. I tend to ignore that section of my closet because it holds more dressy wear, but it needs a good look now.
So I can put this forced "stay indoors" recommendation to good use. Closet cleanout, assess what I need for cruise outfits and daily wear and culling of items that no longer fit.
Ordered 2 CD's from ebay of singers (John Denver and Ray Orbison) from my past that I really love. Both arrived today so I will play them while I work in the closet. In the privacy of my home I can sing along and Leo, my upstairs cat, doesn't seem to mind that I am offkey.
DH had doctor's appointment so he is out and about. I need to warn him he has to find indoor activities so he can work on the patio chairs that need re-webbing. He's been procrastinating about them and now that he has a plan plus all the supplies, he needs to get busy.
