Happy Birthday to Nancy on Monday and Wheatfields on Thursday. I am just behind you both at 73. You both are in my daily prayers. Nancy you are in my daily prayers throughout your trip. Wheatfields, I am glad the PT has been helping you leg. I have a feeling I will need some PT once this broken leg mends.

I had another syncope episode this morning. Thankfully this time I had called for help before I collapsed and my DD was wheeling me to my bed on the walker when I passed out. I had a blood transfusion yesterday and it should have helped, but I read where it sometimes takes 24 - 48 hours before it kicks in. Anyways, afterwards I slept for about four hours. I still don't feel great but I was able to get up, dress, and spend the rest of the day in the recliner. Hopefully I will rebound by tomorrow so I can get some things done.

Tomorrow is supposed to reach 95 here in CO Springs. That is hot for us but I know it has been hot for everyone this year. I pray we all stay well tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Nancy and Wheatfields! I hope your special days are filled with sweet surprises and tender blessings!

Nancy, your big adventure is just days away. I'm so excited for you and praying for safe travels, temperate weather, and clear nighttime skies.

Chris, I hope you are feeling better today.

My garden is doing well, all things considered. We are in a severe drought; daytime temperatures are above 100 degrees, nighttime lows are in the 80s, and no rain is in sight. We typically receive monsoon moisture in July, but so far the weather pattern has failed to materialize. The southwest US is really suffering right now.

Happy Birthday, Nancy and Wheatfields! My youngest granddaughter’s birthday was August 1st. She’s 1 and SO close to walking. She’ll take 1 or 2 steps and then squats down to balance. I think one of these times she’s just going to forget what she’s doing and just take off! 😊

I have the 5 boost treatments left. The brain fog hasn’t improved much and the lack of sleep definitely doesn’t help my mood or the fog. My daughter and I have been walking the dogs almost every day so I’m getting the exercise in that PT recommended. I also met with the medication specialist today to go over the Kisqali. I’ll start both that and the Letrozole on the 17th.

Chris, I’m praying for your broken leg to heal cleanly and well and that you’re feeling better.

Wheatfields, I’ll be praying for your leg to continue to improve.

Nancy, I’ve been praying for a safe, comfortable and wonderful trip for you and also for comfort for your friend.

hersheykiss, praying that you’re doing well and that your area gets some rain soon.

    Take care everyone! 🙏

l1ttlec Your granddaughter must be a joy to watch. I love the toddler stage. They learn so much so quickly!

Thank you for the prayers. My leg is healing nicely and is more comfortable in the ankle brace. My struggle is with my bowel and the constipation that just won't let up. I am increasing my fiber and water, and as soon as I get approval will walk more. But my stomach hurts all the time and now I am becoming afraid to pass stuff… sorry… tmi Yesterday I passed out again afterwards. I need a solution. Hopefully the blood transfusion I received Saturday will kick in and my BP will stay up.

Wheatfields, Happy Birthday to you early. If we lived near each other we could celebrate our birthdays together.

Here I was doing so well on my packing on Friday and now here it is Monday and I feel behind. I am waiting on another Amazon delivery which is holding up my packing a bit.

Cheryl, you are doing great. It seems like you were just telling us you were starting and now you are ready for the boosts. Hopefully you will get your brain fog to leave when your treatments stop. It is a alot going every day and to a hospital setting makes it even more so. Your walking the dogs every night is probably paying off more than you realize. Hang in there. You are almost to the finish line.

Hershey, I will be experiencing Salt Lake City at 100 this Saturday. I know that will only be temporary. I can't imagine living through that for long periods of time. I will be staying for two nights and a half way point and it is a cool 99.. One BCO sister who retired to TX talks about how gardening is so much different than they lived in PA. I think gardening is probably over when summer hits for them now. Sounds like yours may be similar. Bryce Canyon is certainly getting their fair share of the monsoon rains as I have been watching their 10 day outlook for a while. I bet you are looking forward to fall at this point.

Chris, I am so glad you are in the ankle brace now. It will be even better when you don't have to be in it at all. Your passing out or coming close to it is very concerning, I know you mentioned one of your doctors wanted you to see a specialist. I hope you can do that soon. I'm praying for some answers for you.

Teka, I hope you are doing okay. We miss you when you aren't posting your delicious meals. Take care and I hope your absence means you are enjoying the summer with your family.

Thank you all for your prayers. I certainly appreciate all of them. I need to get back to my packing. My back and leg are so much better than just a few weeks ago so your prayers are definitely helping me through this pre vacation time.

Take care everyone. I will be off the grid for 10 days so know when I get back I will certainly post and hopefully tell you what a great time I had. There is mostly cloudy skies predicted for the new moon for my milky way shooting which I hope will change for Aug. 12.

    Love,

    Nancy

    Hi dear sisters,

I have a prayer request. I found out that my hotel that I was going to be staying for Saturday night and Sunday night had to be evacuated a few days ago. I called the hotel tonight and the young lady at the desk told me the fire was going East. I would appreciate your prayers that I will not have to make a change on the fly without my computer would be difficult. I guess the Widemouth 2 fire which was caused by a lightning strike caused so much damage. When I was plotting out my directions I did get an alert that their may be a need for rerouting. YIKES I did pack some face masks and just lived through high heat and humidity with unhealthy smoke from Canada so I know how awful that was a couple weeks ago.

I hope everyone is doing okay. I still need to see if I can fit into my compression sleeve and glove for this flight on Saturday.

    Take care everyone.

    Love,

    Nancy

Nancy, I definitely will be praying that your accommodations can be figured out. I have also been praying the fires don't affect your vacation. Colorado has been suffering through a lot of smoke the last couple of days but I have had too many appointments to stay home. Today I went to the dentist (you know how hard I try to avoid that!) Well, I have random tooth pain after my chemo and that is a known side effect of chemo especially as a result of dry mouth, and my oncologist wanted me to get checked out in case we need to stop the chemo. The dentist told me I was doing a good job with my teeth considering all I have been through but he wants to fix a couple of minor cavities before they cause any problems. He did say to continue the chemo because it is surface work only. Arghh!!! Anyway, I can get the work done during my off chemo week so it should not be a problem.

Tomorrow I have a bone dexa scan because my leg seemed to break so easily. That will be an easy appointment, but I am getting tired of all these appointments. I had a good friend from the church where I grew up. Her husband passed three months ago from a heart attack. One week later she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and yesterday she died. This hit me hard, and I know you understand as you are still mourning the loss of your friend. I know the older we get the more of our friends will pass. Sometimes it is hard to continue to fight. This is when I just need to trust in God's timing.

Chris, I am sorry to hear about your friends passing. It is so hard to lose people we love. I am sorry that your dentist wants to fill some cavities but you don't want those to end up causing you a tremendous amount of pain. I know facing your fear is daunting. I am living that right now. I woke up in the middle of the night with such pain I could hardly stand it. It was a Charle horse type of thing and it was affecting both of my legs. I got up and walked around and talked to another AI. I finally went back to bed and got up really late.

My muscle therapist had texted me and my texts were is not working at all. This is the enemy trying to defeat me at every turn the last few days. I was talking to an AI fron TSA cares. He talked me into signing up for TSA cares so I did. Now I have my wheelchair assistant and a special TSA agent for screening. If my legs would do this on the plane or while driving I don't know what I would do. No backing out at this point. Way too much money and emotional energy expended over the last many months to stop now.

I am getting ready to respond in email to my therapist. She wanted to go over lifting my bags with Facetime. I have never Facetimed ever. LOL Am I hopeless!!

I will pray for you as I know you feel like you are at the end of your rope. May the Lord wrap His arms around you tight and tell you it is going to be alright.

    Love,

    Nancy

Nancy, I’m praying that everything works out for your trip, that accommodations aren’t a problem and that you don’t have any issues because of the smoke. Just praying for a stress free adventure and beautiful pictures to bring back. I will be thinking about you.

Chris, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. Will be praying for all of your upcoming appointments and for the courage and strength to face the dentist.

    Take care everyone.

This has been a day and a half. First 70 min on phone changiing my hotel. Too dangerous to go to the one I had booked because of wildfires all around the town. Then tonight I set my three digit code on my one of my suitcases and got locked out. I finally figured it out that my 75 yr old eyes in bad lighting mistook an 8 for a 3 and it opened. PTL I really prayed hard and truly this a miracle. I think AI said there was a 1000 possible combinations. I had set my combination on my rolling camera bag and it worked like a charm. I was prepared for an easy time. LOL Now I am afraid to set this lock and my other bag at all. What a day it has been. Need to get to bed.

    Love to all of you

    Thanks you dear sisters.

My bags are packed. My college boy neighbor carried all of my bags to the first floor. They are all ready to go. Now I have to go outside and take care of a few things and hopefully early to bed. I will get up at 5 am which for those you know me I am a night owl. My taxi picks me up at 8 am. I can't wait to sit in that airplane seat and breathe a huge sigh of relief. Thank you all so much for your prayers. I still have a short list of things to pack in the morning that I will need tonight so after I do that tomorrow morning I am as ready to go. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been thinking and preparing for this trip actually starting last summer.

    Love,

@wheatfields Thank you. The bone scan results were in within two hours and my oncology PA already responded. They came back normal with no concerns. So I must have fallen hard to break the leg. I won't see the dentist for three more weeks but thanks. I would rather just get it done and over with but it has to be done with strategic timing when my blood counts are at its best. Meanwhile I have chemo tomorrow and see a cardiologist Wednesday to see it there is a need to address my constant high pulse rate. My PA seems to think if they can lower it I won't be so tired. It is a nice fantasy…

Thank you wheatfields. It is a blessing just to know that I don’t have to get up and go back to the hospital. I’ve had very little motivation to do anything around the house so I’m praying that some of that will get back to normal. I also need to get back to training Tansi, my almost year old Golden. She is so sweet, but she is a wild thing. 🙄 Tomorrow I’m going to babysit for my granddaughter for the first time since radiation started. I’m sure there will be tears when her mom drops her off in the morning. Luckily my daughter will be working from here and will be able to help if my energy tanks.
Chris, glad to hear your bone scans were normal. I’ll be praying for your cardiologist appointment. My husband had a heart attack 2 years ago followed by constant AFIB and shortness of breath. They did a Watchman implant in October and that took care of the AFIB. He’s still short of breath a lot and it’s a cycle of cardiology saying it’s pulmonary and pulmonary saying heart related. It gets frustrating after awhile. 🤷‍♀️

Praying that Nancy is having a wonderful time.

Praying for all. You’ve been such a blessing

Chris, praying for you this week that the side effects from chemo are becoming less and that your cardiologist appointment went well.

l1ttlec praying that you are feeling stronger this week and that your day babysitting went well!

Praying that Nancy is doing great and able to get some beautiful pictures.

Somehow I came up with a UTI and then they sent the wrong culture in so we're not sure the antibiotic is working, and I don't do well with antibiotics, becoming allergic to almost everything. So praying this one works.

Wheatfields, thank you for the prayers. So far I am doing better with the chemo SEs, but I am just entering the rougher couple of days. My cardio appointment went great. He said my only problem is the tachycardia, fast pulse, so he put me on an added salt diet. He said that if I drink one gallon of water I am going to pee one gallon of water unless I do something so the water gets absorbed—hence salt which should help with constipation and pulse rate. Weird huh? Otherwise my heart looks very healthy so he allows the salt. That is why saline solution is important and why Gatorade works. He suggests it will work better than Colace. The absorption should help my heart not try to work so hard. Remember I am also on constant O2 so you have to look at the whole picture. He told me unless I feel the need, I don't need to see him for a year and even then it is not necessary unless I have a concern.

I do tend to get UTIs as well but we didn't address that as his concern was heart. I didn't bring it up. I join you in prayers for Nancy.

We did the 5K breast cancer fund raiser on Saturday. Took me all day yesterday to recover, but I was able to do the whole thing. Woke up with a headache this morning that I can’t seem to shake. I think it might be weather related because it doesn’t feel like my typical migraines. I have my granddaughter and PT tomorrow so really hoping I can get rid of it overnight.
I started Letrozole and Kisqali this morning. Planning on trying to put any SE in God’s hands also.
I know Nancy said her trip was from the 8th to the 17th but didn’t know if she was coming home today. I’ve been praying for her trip and return home.

Wheatfields, sorry to hear about the UTI. That’s one thing I’ve never had an issue with. I’m sure I’ve just jinxed that. 🙄

Chris, glad your cardio appointment well.

Take care, everyone. Prayers for all. 🙏

l1ttlec: wow—running a 5K after what you've been through is amazing. Very proud of you!

Yes, I think we are all awaiting an update from Nancy having prayed for her all the way through Utah.

I saw my orthopedic doctor yesterday and she was pleased with my progress. I can begin to wean myself off the walker and brace. Yay! I am heading out for an infusion this afternoon feeling better.

    Hello dear sisters,

I have returned from the absolutely beautiful state of Utah and the amazing Bryce Canyon. I got in late last night and I had only eaten breatfast early that morning so my first job was to text my family and tell them I had made it home safely and then run to get some carry out.

I think there was something like 16 messages that I need to fully absorb on this forum since I last posted. I am sitting here with wet hair and not dressed so I will return when I have some time. My heavy bags are still sitting in my front foyer. Too heavy for me to lift upstairs. I am totally worn out. I have my Bible Study tonight and I am not sure if I have it in me to do that tonight.

I have never really seen mountains in my older adult life and I just find them fascinating. I have a few pics from my cellphone but most are in my more professional camera and need to be edited as they are in RAW format. The trip was a success in fullfilling most of my dreams of good pics of the hoodoos. However I was not able to get a MIlky Way picture as the weather was not cooperating. We had rain and or thunderstorms on most days which meant cloud filled nights. On Thursday it rained all day and then the sky was to become clear. I froze in 40 degree weather from 8- midnight and only clouds covering the Milky Way. My last full day the night was supposed to be clear but I had too much packing and I had the long drive back to Salt Lake City so I was not able to get that perfect shot………….. however I got many pictures of these gorgeous and fascinating hoodoos from several points throughout the park. The night of no visible Milky Way I had my tripod and camera about five feet from a drop off into the deep canyon. I picked that spot because it had a bench. It was pretty daunting for sure but I had a head lamp on and I had a flashlight which got me back through this pine forest to my room at the lodge. It has been an adventure of a lifetime for me.

More later. Thank you all SOOOOO much for praying for me. There were several nailbiting times on my driving to Bryce from SLC and back. I almost hit a cow going to Bryce. They have miles of free range in rural Utah which most of my driving was. I thought do they really mean the animals are going to be crossing the road and the answer is yes. On the way back to SLC I encountered three different cows in the road. It just seems so unreal to me but that is what they do. BTW I loved the people from Utah. They were so helpful and nice people.

Cheryl, CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING RADIATION. YEAH!!!!! AND A 5K……………WOW.

Chris, glad to hear of your scans and your heart issue that may be easily solved. PTL Praying for your infusion and the SE's.

    Love,

    Nancy

Nancy, welcome home and I’m glad you had a good rip and returned safe. We took a trip out west when I was about 12 but didn’t make it to Utah. I remember Wyoming and Montana (they had open range, too, but not sure we saw any cows) and just barely remember the Black Hills in SD? I spent a good part of the time lying down in the back seat because I always got car sick.

I only walked the 5K; didn’t run it but was still glad I could do it. I had PT today and only did about 1.5 minutes on the elliptical! That’s embarrassing. I did the other exercises fine, but she let me go early. I think I was just overly tired. The headache finally went away this afternoon after Claritin D this morning and more migraine meds this afternoon.

Had a rough morning with my almost 2-year old granddaughter, too. Normally her mom brings her in, plops her on my lap and she’ll sleep for another 2 to 3 hours. This morning she was inconsolable. I finally took her in the bedroom and she wanted no part of me. Finally cried herself to sleep on the floor. She is definitely a daddy’s girl and was crying for him. Just breaks my heart when I can’t help her. When she woke up, she picked up her blanket, took my hand and led me out to the living room. 🤷‍♀️

Chris, so glad to hear your ortho appointment went well.

    Wheatfields, praying for you, also.

    Prayers everyone! 🙏

Nancy, welcome back. I am so glad your trip was wonderful and you got to see the hoodoos and other marvelous things. I am so proud of your bravery. I know you will share so I will hold my questions until you are rested and post again. It amazes me you haven't seen mountains in your adult life…I guess I don't know how fortunate I was to be able to travel so much in both my childhood and adult years, and live surrounded by beautiful mountains.

l1ttlec, I empathize with your sadness over the behavior of your grandchild. For some reason none of my three grandsons would allow me to hold and cuddle them. They live in MO so I only got to see them a couple times a year so it hurt when I couldn't hold them longer than a minute at a time. I had to resolve myself to getting on the floor with them and playing that way. My son and his wife tried to encourage them to let me hold them, but they just wouldn't. I even babysat my eldest grandson one night at a year old while his parents had to be away, but my DD ended up in a fender-bender on her way to work and came back early so I lost that chance at a longer time. As soon as he saw his mama he wouldn't let me hold him again. They have never been affectionate but they will give me a hug now and talk to me when they visit. It is hard. My son and I talked about it and he assured me I didn't do anything wrong and his wife was not against me in any way, it is just the way it was. We have an excellent relationship. They continue to be faithful to Facetime every Sunday for the past 12 years and I feel my DIL and I have a good relationship. On the other hand, my DD and DGD live with us so I have held her daily since birth. I get to see her and get hugs every day so that is good.

I had a rough chemo day. I am still having a lot of gut pain, but was confident I could get the infusion okay. Well, the walk-in lab there was quick and I was fooled into thinking it would be a simple day, but no, somewhere along the way things started to happen. The lab technician failed to label the one main lab I need before the chemo and of course we didn't know this until in frustration the nurse had to follow-up on its tardiness. So she had to take the blood draw herself and walk it to the lab for processing. It normally only takes the lab there a few minutes to get results, but it took almost another hour. Then things were just slow. I know the nurse and she is excellent, but she had to access my port twice because it was stubborn and she was afraid it developed a blood clot the first time. (She was clear before I left to inform me the exact labs needed to be drawn and were ordered already for my next chemo so I could go over them with the tech. ) Then the hospital pharmacy was sluggish sending the pre-meds I needed. By this time, my dear, sweet husband was hurting. We were put in a separate, two-chemo chair small room and the chair for him to sit in was very uncomfortable. My DH ended up going to the car where he knew he could take a nap. I would much rather get a chair in the main room where my presence is obvious to every nurse as they walk by. The other lady in there was very demanding and slowed the nurse further. Finally things started happening and I was cleared for the infusion. I was uncomfortable with my stomach, but by the time my pre-meds kicked in my pain was gone. We left for the hospital at 11:30 this morning and didn't pull up into our driveway until 6:00. On a good note my stomach doesn't hurt anymore…yet. Sorry for the long note…thanks for letting me vent!

Chris, So sorry to hear about all the slowness and screwups at the lab and hospital. It is so frustrating to have to wait especially when you’re not feeling well to begin with. Our cancer center has been recently updated so is pretty comfortable. On the other hand, the heart center has the worst waiting room. The chairs are terrible. I’ve had to wait multiple times for my husband and by the time he comes out or I get in to see him, my back is in terrible shape. They also put the joint and spine center about as far away from parking as possible. Somebody had a poor plan.

I’m blessed to have both of my kids living nearby so I see all 3 granddaughters often. I’ve been babysitting the one yesterday once a week since she was a couple months old. I think part of her problem is that Mom is the one to drop her off and Daddy picks her up. Since Mom works 4-10’s at a hospital, she’s with Daddy more often and is with him by himself until Mom gets home from work and by then it’s close to bedtime. My daughter and I were practically joined at the hip until she went to preschool. My son was independent from the word go and never wanted to be held. I told him holding my granddaughter is making up for not getting to hold him. Yesterday afternoon she did cuddle up with me and slept for a hour and a half so it made up for the morning. It’s just rough not being able to console her when she gets upset in the mornings.

Praying for you to get through this rough patch.
