    Nancy in Bryce Canyon 8-2026.jpg

Bryce Canyon sunset point near my lodge 8-2026.jpg

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I really appreciated all of the prayers as driving was especially nerve racking in and around Salt Lake City. I was so totally wiped out yesterday that I had to miss my Bible Study and was dozing off and on all day. My bags are still not unpacked. These are a couple of pics from my cellphone. I haven't uploaded my pics from my big camera so time will tell. They always say that photographs are to tell a story. I don't know if the magnificence I felt comes through but truly it was just that. It was actually 12 1/2 yrs ago that Lisa from So Cal (on BCO) who was a great photographer shared some Bryce Canyon photos and from that point on I wanted to go there myself. The hoodoos are like nothing I have ever seen in the US or for that matter the world. I am so blessed to be able to travel at 75 with the issues that I have recently had but the Lord kept me throughout the whole adventure.

Chris, I am sorry to hear of your chemo day that you thought was going to be an easy affair. My day back on Monday was like that. We push forward with the Lord's help and look back and think how did I ever get through that. I do hope you are feeling the good days now after your infusion. When I hear of your sorrow concerning your grandchildren I can only imagin how that was heartbreaking to you. I am glad you have had your granddaughter now to give you hugs and know how special you are.

Cheryl, I am glad that your granddaughter finally was able to cuddle up with you in the end. I am so glad you are finished with radiation treatments now.

Hershey, how has your temps been where you are. SLC was so hot when I first arrived. I finally got to experience what dry heat feels like. It was just plain hot and I had to carry my 40 0z Stanley cup with me everywhere I went. You probably laughed at me being surprised with the open range for the animals and about almost hitting a cow. After googling it, it sounds like there are several states out West that have that same thing. The thing about driving in rural Utah besides all of the sharp curves is they had beautiful wildflowers in big bushes right up against the road and you could not always see the cows. I can' t imagine at night how in the world the people do that with deer and sheep and cows. I can see how it feels like the Wild West.

Wheatfields, how are you doing. My sister is starting to have "issues" and it breaks my heart. She still hasn't responded to my text that I got home. Her daughter, my niece, has been traveling solo for three weeks throughout New Mexico. Doing some tent camping in CO right now on her way home to Iowa so I know my sister is concerned for her too. I have not said a word about my suspicions to my niece but the fact she has made several trips to see my sister and her husband in IL tells me a lot. How is your leg doing? I hope better.

Teka, I am a bit worried about you. You usually tell me when you are taking a break from the forum but you didn't do that this time. I hope it is just that you are enjoying the end of summer and enjoying eating at your favorite diner with your DH.

I need to go pick up my organic chicken I order every week from Whole Foods and get some grocery shopping in. Now back to healthy eating. My plans completely changed when I had to switch hotels because of the wildfires in Utah that affected the hotel I was to stay at. I had it all planned out to go to their Market and then buy a cheap cooler and get my veggies for my salads and smoothies but none of that worked out with my hotel change and the long drive from SLC to Bryce Canyon. Some days I existed on protein bars and not healthy foods. So now back to my more healthy regimen.

I am not proof reading this so sorry for any errors. I have to eat a protein bar (LOL) for breakfast and go to Whole Foods.

    Love,

    Nancy

Chris, what a long and frustrating experience for you with the lab and hospital. Pastor John has recounted similar experiences at his cancer center: various delays in treatments, miscommunications between providers, appointment cancellations, etc. Not sure if these situations are results of lack of training, staffing shortages, or something else, but small annoyances can quickly add up to stressful situations for patients. I'm praying that your subsequent infusions proceed without any glitches.

Nancy, what fun photos! I can see how much you enjoy the scenery and am glad that your trip was so worthwhile. Now tell me, when do you leave on your next adventure?! :-)

I too am concerned about Teka's absence from our group. I hope that all is well and she's just taking a break from social media. I also hope that you hear from your sister and that she is okay.

Our temperatures are still high for mid- to late-August. We could have really used some of Utah's monsoon moisture. We may receive some showers this weekend but still too soon to tell. I am so ready for autumn!
