Dear Breastcancer.org Community Member,

Welcome to the Breastcancer.org Online Community Discussion Boards! We warmly welcome you to join our free, vibrant, and supportive community of women and men either diagnosed with breast cancer or concerned about a breast condition, as well as their support persons. As a new member of the Community, you may have questions about logging in, creating or editing your profile, or defining terms, among other things. For information about using the Discussion Boards, please see the Help Topics. To better understand all the abbreviations and acronyms, please see Help With Abbreviations.

The Breastcancer.org Online Community can provide information and the unique experiences of your peers. It is a place where you should feel safe and open to share your thoughts and experiences, and in turn find valuable relationships with other members. It is important to note, however, that every individual's situation and treatment is different. To that end, we offer you the following guidelines that we hope will optimize your use and experience within this Community:

Please refrain from advising others as to what they should or should not do or promote your own experience as appropriate for others to follow.

Consider using "I" statements instead of "You" statements, e.g. "I chose bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction because…" instead of "You should consider a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction because…"

Take some time to review the forums and topics to find the situations that most closely match your own. You can search the Community using keywords or phrases with our Search function.

Visit the Breastcancer.org site for the most reliable, expert-reviewed, and up-to-date information about breast cancer, including symptoms and diagnosis, treatments and side effects, risk factors, day-to-day matters, and research news.

If you are Spanish-speaking, please visit and register for our Spanish Discussion Boards.

Always contact your medical team about treatment decisions. While the information and experiences expressed here are invaluable, they should never be used in place of medical advice from your treatment team.

Please refrain from posting photos of your breasts for diagnostic purposes.

Be respectful of others, consider their feelings, and remember that all the diverse members of our Community are here for the same reason: to find support and share their experiences.

Agree to review and abide by all of the terms and conditions outlined in the Breastcancer.org Online Community Rules and Terms of Use. Read here to review our Privacy Statement.

If you feel another member of the Community has not respected any of Breastcancer.org's Community Rules, use the Report Post link on any post, or send a Private Message to the Moderators. You can also email us at comments@breastcancer.org.

Note that the discussion boards are moderated 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We are reviewing posts throughout the day and evenings world-wide. Our role includes responding to your private messages, helping with your technical difficulties, and ensuring the overall safety and appropriate usage of the Community.

Thank you for becoming part of our Community. We hope you find this free resource helpful and our Community welcoming.
