@nonni2015 Hi Nonni - nice to meet you. Welcome to the thread. So sorry that after 18 months you had a recurrence. What a drag ❤️ . I so understand! I think I went 6 months… but it was growing the whole time, we just didn’t know it until it pushed through my skin. I too did the chemo, surgery , chemo, radiation (2x) and ongoing changing chemo route.. and so it goes. I have not been on Eribulin, but it’s on my list of possible next steps when/if the navelbine stops working.
For hair loss, if needed, I highly recommend investing in a good quality wig. I did that when on Trodelvy and love my wig ( her name is Leah) . None can tell it’s a wig, and I feel beautiful (yes my ego cares).
For quality of life, you get to define that, don’t let others depress you or tell you if your life is a good life. You have so much power to choose the positive side of what a life presents . There are some things in our control, the progression of the cancer is not. So we do other things to enhance our quality of life, if we feel up to it. It’s hard this human journey, but we all age and sicken, it just is the cycle, and, we all can laugh and love and look for the wonderful beauty around us too. Doesn’t mean we can’t complain and mourn what we loose, but celebrating what we gain in perspective is so important. Evolving in light, is how I see it .. I love my life. It is what it is. Striving for what I can’t have or don’t have, wishing it otherwise..I don’t know, it just seems like a waste a of energy. i don’t want to waste a moment of life, adapting to every day changes in body and mind is required, and staying close to what are small joys everyday counts for a lot. Anyway, sorry to philosophically comment … yes letting go constantly is part of it, and boy do we know how to live !
. @scgal08 Rita the new medicine is so easy on me, only SE slight fatigue. I notice I don’t have the stamina I used to have lol.. gosh aging and chemo ! But I’ do my cardio and stretching and range of motion and pat myself on the back. There is a stage 4 thread here for excersise, and some of these gals walk 4 miles a day, swim and play pickleball! Lol I read, and cheer them on, and then do my YouTube 20 minute videos when I’m up to it… and shoulder excersise for the radiation scarring. I’m so proud I got my range of motion back. My MO lowered my navelbine dose due to my anc levels being low, but all is normal again. We are keeping our eyes on the Mets, last week they were redder, this week they are stable and less red and some nodules disappeared, but plenty are still there… it’s all so visible! Nothing new growing yet…hoping I can stay on this medicine for awhile, we’ll see. I’m adaptable lol… How are you doing? Are you still on Trodelvy? Glad you could post here again.
@cookie54 Andrea Hope with the summer coming to a close you are getting every inch of water and boating relaxation in. Hope Buster and hubby, annd MIL are well.

Welcome KKs. I think Maggie explained it well. My CT is sept 2 and diagnostic mammogram is sept 3. So we are close with our scans .

As a result of reading up on recovery after surgery, I have realized I'm going to be needing some front opening garments. On account of big boobs which inevitably cause a gap between the buttons, I own NOT EVEN ONE such garment!
Any brands or companies y'all have found that are good and not too expensive?
A funny little thing to be concerned about, right??

Oh, Harley, I wish it were so. Nothing but surgery or opiates would allow me to resume anything close to normal use of my hands. Your hubby's stings must have been quite frightening for both of you. I would enjoy a couple of bee-stings at the base of each of my thumbs. With medical supervision, of course. Which wouldn't happen.
I took a look at Google street view of my childhood home, and the sideyards are all grown over with trees and stuff, which will grow into the basement walls. What happened? Rental property until it is a tear-down. 🤔

Sandy - hang in there. You are making significant progress given the extent of the fire, repairs, having to replace items and get resettled in your home.
Chris - I’m so sorry to hear you are in pain again. I hope the arnica and other remedies can allow you to resume normal or near normal use of your hands.
Betrayal - I’m exhausted reading about your weeding and mulching but thrilled for you that you have regained the endurance to do so.
In the back corner of our yard the neighbors 20 ft high lilac bush (yes, 20 feet!) hangs over the fence into our yard by about 5-6 feet. DH was thinking to himself that he need to cut those branches back since the neighbor generally does not maintain their yard and house all that well. They are a nice family and have told us that we can cut down any branches hanging into our yard but my feeling is that they should be maintaining their trees just as we do with our landscaping. Their wood fence is falling down into our yard as it is rotting. Due to the cost they are replacing a section at a time and had promised they would replace the section between our yards this summer. It has not happened yet. So I’m a bit frustrated that they are a couple in their 40’s and expect my DH who is turning 70 to cut down the excess lilac bush that is overhanging our yard. It’s not worth starting an argument but it is frustrating.
So anyhow DH was mowing the lawn yesterday and bumps his head on one of the lilac branches. Unbeknownst to us the branch concealed a very large bee or wasp nest. The insects were not happy at being disturbed. DH was running for his life and was stung 2-3 times but said the stingers were not stuck in his skin. He sprayed bactine on the stings and it seemed to help. Fortunately he did not have an allergic reaction. I’m always a bit paranoid about that since my cousin’s husband died of an allergic reaction to a bee sting.

Oh Harley - so sorry to hear about the bee/wasp stings that got your DH. I too have neighbors who don't maintain their side of the property line, but they now have 12 dogs so no way I can address it. (or have my son fix the fence when he comes to town). The same neighbor has a HUGE oak in front that he planted right on the water meter. I have paid to have my side trimmed several times since he doesn't believe in maintenance. But not sure what will happen when the roots break the pipes.

There’s more of us *oldtimers out there and on here. I hope I don’t come across as smug , nobody knows if it’ll work or not. Maybe my pet in December goes all yellow , who knows 🤷🏻♀️ there’s micronodules in my lungs that come and go without any intervention. The day will come, but NOT TODAY !!!

good morning! I had the genetic screening right at the start, I asked for it immediately but probably would have had it anyway since I have children. I am negative across the board. My adult kids were thrilled to hear tho know it is no where near a guarantee - look at me.
My closest friend died of BC back when we were 39. We learned afterward that she carried both BRCA genes and her 2 daughters also inherited them. They were 4 & 7 when she died. OMG - what a terrible time and I can’t believe it was over 25 yrs ago now… 😢
Her younger daughter had a preventive mastectomy at age 31 (last year) and her older daughter is waiting to get pregnant first but has a team at Sloan’s keeping close watch. My friend would have lived if she were diagnosed now, I am positive of it! Needless to say, my diagnosis from out of the blue freaked us all out.
Long story short, I found my MO at Sloans through my friend - wild coincidences one after another that resulted in my choice of doc! It is one of those stories that help keep mediums in business 😂 @forza Your success with this combo of miraculous drugs keep newbies like me clam and inspired. The great scans I recently had help too 😊 Thank you!
