Re: For Arimidex (Anastrozole) users, new, past, and ongoing
Lew died this afternoon. He fell off our roof Wednesday morning and landed on his face on the concrete sidewalk, severe bleeding in his brain. Had surgery, was on a respirator. He was worse again this morning, the doctors had a conference with the whole family and explained the poor prognosis and we were all in agreement to stop the respirator, which we did. We were all with him and his sister had a video on her phone of her and his mother singing Jesus Loves Me that they played by his ear, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. We had hoped he'd be able to donate his corneas but his eyes were so swollen that wasn't possible. We're hoping to have a Mar 25 (Good Friday) memorial service, but need to see if that works for the funeral home. My cousin picked up my dad and brought him here for a visit, at 89 I didn't want him driving here alone.
I'm in such a fog. I held together pretty well most of the time at the hospital where I could be in "nurse mode" as his advocate, but can break into sobs at the least thing here at home.
Re: ER-, PR-, Her2+ Roll call
That’s wonderful news!! ❤️ I hope all chemo side effects go away now that it’s done the job so well!
I go in for round 2 on Thursday. It’s my first round since learning I’m actually stage 3, and your post is a great reminder that side effects just mean it’s working, and all the better if a little TOO well 😊
Re: ER-, PR-, Her2+ Roll call
@grammie2 I totally get it, it seems that might be part of the process, i got down on things at the third dose and kinda stayed there for a bit (got down after the last one too). I hate that for you as this is tough stuff. You are climbing a mountain for sure. Sending love. 💕 and hugs
Re: HER2+ Recurrence
Hello. Im sorry aboit your recurrance. I don’t come on here much anymore but I wanted to chime in that I am a 15 year survivor of our subtype of breast cancer (er-or-her2+). There was only herceptin with chemo and radiation when I was treated. I had 4 positive lymph nodes with visible cancer in two of them at surgery. I also had lvi invasion and pagets disease of the lymph node with 7.5 centimeters of DCIS and numerous small invasive tumors, the largest being 1.6cm. I was a stage IIIa. There was an 11 year old survivor of her2- metastatic cancer in my support group. Herceptin only was keeping her stable. Don’t loose hope.
Re: Stage III Cancer Survivors...15+ years and out
Thank you @homemom for your kind message ❤️
I’ve been freaking out today as I got my path report which mentions LVI and extranodal spread, so I feel doomed to die of this disease 😢
Hearing from you has been great. I wish you many more decades of good health x
